Loved it! Snappy, fun read, instant chemistry between the characters, and an original, cute story. HIghly recommend.
I absolutely loved everything about this book. It was perfect. I laughed on almost every page. It had everything. It was swoony. It was realistic. The characters were very well developed. There were some serious and some sad parts but it was fast paced. I stayed up way too late reading and couldn’t wait to start reading again the next day. I will definitely be reading it again and I recommend it wholeheartedly. Absolutely brilliant!
If I could give this book a gazillion stars I would. I loved every beautiful, emotional, heartfelt, swoony word of this book. This book was equal parts so beautiful and emotional, and absolutely hilarious. I was so captured by this beautiful, unique and original story that I couldn’t put it down.
My heart overflowed reading this one, I laughed a hell of a lot and also cried a fair bit too. These two characters really dug themselves under my skin and into my heart. I loved Emily and Jack. From their unusual meeting, to the amazing and sincere friendship, to their eventual romance that united them. Melanie Jacobson beautifully shows that no distance can threaten the closeness that connects two people as long as they both want it. Their online romance made me laugh, smile and swoon. I just wanted to bookmark every online conversation that Jack and Emily had. The online creative dating ideas were so, so clever and unbelievably heart melting. I found myself smiling—genuine, enjoyment smiles—as I experienced Emily’s and Jack’s relationship and interactions. It was magical, and the fact that social media was such a big part of this book was an unexpected, wonderful bonus.
The premise of this book was brilliant and the execution were flawless. The flow was perfection and those pages kept turning and turning way into the early hours so that I could finish in one sitting. This is one of the most emotional, heartfelt and just plain romantic books I have read this year. The romance was palpable, sweet and sexy. And the texts, the DM’s and the FaceTime’s between this pair gave me all the feels – their connection just shone through the pages of my kindle. I cannot fault this book at all. Pure perfection. Definitely a MUST READ!

“An adorable twisted retelling of Rapunzel!”
”If anyone is looking for creative dating ideas, please consult Jack.”
I enjoyed this book a lot. So much fun witty banter. The idea for a fairytale retelling had me thinking this would be light and silly but it has some serious hard elements that make it solid and better then I thought. I enjoy the way Jacobson writes a story. She brings in lots of truths we tend to hide from ourselves and I like watching her characters figure things out. A sweet romance is thrown in with all this growth and it makes for my kind of story.
I would let my older teen read these.
I adored this book. It was funny–really funny–and had a depth to it that’s sometimes rare. When Emily and Jack finally get together in the end (Come on, it’s a romance…we all know they will!), it felt well-earned and so satisfying. This is one of those books that I will read again. And that’s saying something because I don’t often re-read books. Well done, Melanie!
Such a fun book…loved this one!
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
Can their online flirtation become something real?
When smart, practical Emily finds herself in the crosshairs of an Internet prankster, her orderly world goes topsy-turvy. Instead of getting mad at the handsome stranger behind the joke, she finds herself drawn to him. But Jack Dobson, though hilarious and thoughtful, has a lot of secrets. MY TAKE
*sigh* The feels! I confess that this book choked me up a few times.
I’ve read several of Jacobson’s books, but not in a while. I’ll be fixing that. I’d forgotten how wonderfully relatable her characters are. Emily is a fun character, smart and confidence but also vulnerable. She’s not looking for anything long-term, not considering how the marriage of her parents ended.
Then she meets Jack–well, kind of meets him. It’s all online for a large portion of the book. Their “date” was fun and creative. Their back and forth banter is fun, but it’s obvious there’s a deep secret somewhere relating to Jack. So the title is so appropriate.
When it’s revealed and each of the characters has to go through some powerful soulsearching, keep your tissues near.
This is a story I’ll be happy to go back to again!
