A rich tapestry of wit, grit, and humor…Twenty-four-year old Phoebe Hawley is on a quest to find her family a home. On the road with two siblings, twelve-year-old Maydean and five-year-old Willie-Boy, Phoebe is out of money, out of gas, and out of patience. The only things she owns in abundance are backbone and pride–neither of which she can trade for food or gas.A collision with Gage Morgan … with Gage Morgan puts Phoebe’s mission in even worse jeopardy–until Phoebe discovers Gage owns the perfect place for her clan. However, she soon discovers that Gage is the unlikeliest man in the universe to offer a helping hand.
Phoebe wields all the country smarts she owns to worm her way into Gage’s heart, but nothing works. With time running against her family, she plies one last inducement–her scarce feminine wiles.

Depressing and tedious with a very unlikeable protagonist.
This book was different than any I’ve ever read. I had no idea where the story was headed and that made the journey all that more enjoyable.
This was a fun read! I loved the regional dialect. I have no idea if it’s accurate because I’m not familiar with that part of the country. But I assume it was because it had the ring of truth. It also made the book entertaining and removed it from the realm of an ordinary romance.
This was difficult to read because of the dialect that the author used. The story was predictable.
Not the steamiest book I’ve read but didn’t need to be. It was actually funny with phoebe’s colloquial language use. Her desperation was heartbreakingly funny at times, mostly because of her naïveté. I did thoroughly enjoy reading this book and will read this author again.
It took me awhile to get into the book and I didn’t really like it.
A delightful read!
Likable and amusing characters, but a bit old fashion. I thought the book was set in the past, until Email was mentioned. For a 26 year old, the female character was unbelievably naive about sex.
Gave it 2 stars instead of 1 just to be fair. I couldn’t get through it.
Had trouble following the conversation to other or het inter voice at first. Heart warming
Just OK–very unlikely scenario–almost seemed like it was from the 30’s instead of modern day
I hated it enough that when I finished it, I deleted it from my eReader.
If this book was a movie, the lead playing Phoebe would have been a young Annie Potts. That is how well fleshed out the character was. The story was simply delightful and so positive. What a treat to read about truly good people with normal failings. To create compelling, realistic characters is a rare gift.
An efficient heart-warming story!
Too much wanton sex.
This book was awful. I kept waiting for something to happen, but nothing did. It was a pointless way to spend a few hours. The ‘heroine’ is nothing but a raunchy conartist and the sex scenes were beyond pathetic … just so cheesy. Dear author: surely you could find more ways to fulfill your need to repeatedly talk about one’s “tallywacker” than …
This 62 year old Gramma enjoys books with great characters. I can say these people were so much fun to get to know!
I loved the storyline I couldn’t stop reading I finished this book within a few days. This book made me giggle a lot and I don’t really do that I hate how pheobe was mean but it made her character and I love the ending im glad everything resolved with her family. I highly recommend this for a cute romantic story with real life problems
I loved this book!
The Southron in me didn’t know whether to be amused or offended.
