Two people from different worlds shouldn’t make sense, but desire is an animal that won’t be denied. With secrets lurking on both sides of the fence, however, it’s just a matter of time before someone gets hurt.

Gahhh! Such a good read. Vivian, a bit of a ditz, newly divorced. Takes off from Chicago, in her Porsche, drives till she runs out of gas. Nash a sexy cowboy rides into her life. They antagonize each other. Greta, a sassy elderly woman, takes her in. Great dialog. Some angst. Ex husband, or is he, has sexual issues. Ex comes to Podunk SC. to get her back. Vivian’s story is poignant and heart wrenching. Have to read next book for that. I can’t wait to go find out how it goes. From a New Fan… Pam James.
Such a wonderful story about Vivian who is running away from her upper class restricted life after finding her husband in bed with another man. Everything she owns is packed into her porche. Driving the long highway to an unknown location. Nash a widowed cowboy who is a little rough around the edges who head a soft spot for his elderly neighbour Gretta. A great second chance at love so it seemed, however before it has even begun Vivian is surprised when Andrew her exhusband appears claiming that the divorce wasn’t finalised. A great story and I can’t wait for this story to continue.
Beautiful, thoughtful, compelling. Vivian to me has always been lost. She got married out of convenience, something that just happened but without love. Then her husband cheats on her and she just drives. She lands in small town America where life moves at a very different pace from the big city. What she doesn’t expect is to find acceptance, love, friendship, without any strings. This was so unexpected for me as I went on this journey with Vivian. She meets amazing people, Gretta and Nash, that force her to really look at who she is and what she wants. There is hope for love with Nash until her husband arrives. But there is hope, this journey isn’t finished. Very excited to experience part 2.
Who does not love a cowboy. Nash was freaking yummy. I fell in love with him.
I loved how fate just guiding Vivian to this town. Reading the book you might think fate had nothing to do with it but I do. This was the town Vivian needed to start her fresh start. It had what she truly needed and who she truly needed.
I love small towns and how well they pull together and are there for each other. Though there were some down sides to which Vivian will soon find out.
Gretta was so funny and I love how she was like the mother of the town. The one thing about Gretta is she knew what was going on and loved to gossip. I love how the town loved her so much they done their best to take care of her.
Seems like Vivian and Nash have a hard time getting together. Between Nash’s issues and Vivian’s past you wonder it will ever happen.
This was a great story and glad I got a chance to read it.
How do you love someone you don’t understand? Two deeply broken people are about to find out. Nash and Vivian are flawed. Their journey is not always pretty. More often than not, it’s down right frustrating, but Valentine makes it hard to walk away from a possible train wreck. Finding Home is a heartbreak waiting to happen. Will these lost souls survive the dark side of heartache or will their chance for a happy ending, go up in smoke? Finding Home brings the humanity to heartache.
3.75 stars–FINDING HOME is the first instalment in J.C. Valentine’s contemporary, adult ROPED BY A COWBOY romance duology focusing on ranch hand Nash MacArthur, and divorcee Vivian Parish.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Vivian and Nash) FINDING HOME follows newly divorced Vivian Parish as she sets out on her own in search of something new. Arriving in Hayfield, South Carolina Vivian will meet her future in the guise of ranch hand Nash MacArthur, a man who pushes all of our heroine’s buttons-both good and bad. What ensues is the slow building relationship between Vivian and Nash, and the potential fall-out as Vivian’s past comes looking for a second chance, a second chance that comes with a pronouncement.
Nash MacArthur has loved and lost, and isn’t ready to start over, again. Meeting Vivian Parish finds our hero struggling with memories of the past, a past he has yet to move beyond to the present. Vivian Parish had no idea where she was going when she left Chicago, and drove to South Carolina-a flat tire and an empty tank of gas meant Vivian would find herself as part of a match-making scheme when seventy-eight year old widow Ms. Gretta sets plans into motion to help Nash and Vivian fall in love.
The relationship between Vivian and Nash is one of immediate attraction but Vivian is quick to judge the actions of the man with whom she may fall in love. Nash doesn’t do relationships having lost someone years before but falling for Vivian Parish meant Nash placed his heart in a precarious position to be broken-once again. There are no $ex scenes.
The secondary and supporting characters include ranch owner Ms. Gretta; Vivian’s ex-husband Andrew DeBoises, as well as a number of ranch hands and nosy townsfolk who keep an ear to the ground about the newcomers to town.
FINDING HOME is a story of love, loss, family, friendships, small town living, and big city expectations. The premise is engaging and sweet; the characters are feisty and sassy; the romance has only begun. FINDING HOME does not end on a cliff-hanger but ‘more to come’.
I have read almost all of J.C. Valentine’s books and I have to say that so far this one is in my top 5 reads.
Vivian knows that she needs to get away from the life that she has always known. When she decides to just get in the car and drive with no real destination in mind besides the ocean. When she ends in a town that is so small that everyone knows everyone and what is happening, she is not sure she will stay. However, the people of the town really start to grow on her what will she do?
Nash is a cowboy and nothing like Vivian has every seen in her life. He is also a jerk and does anything in his power to make Vivian know that she doesn’t belong. That is until things between them start to change. What will happen when things are good between them? Will they get to build a relationship or will the past come to bit Vivian in the behind?
This book does end in a cliffhanger and I really can’t wait to read what happens next between Vivian and Nash.
When Vivian learns that her husband has other ideas about their happily ever after, and unexpectedly hands her divorce papers, she isn’t quite sure what to do with herself. She thought her life was near perfect, one minute she was living the high society life, the next she was loading her meager belongings into her car and hitting the road in search of a new life. Which takes her to a little one horse town, full of eccentric folks, that welcome her with open arms… well all of them except one extremely stubborn and wickedly sexy cowboy!
The moment she meets Nash she decides he is a grumpy jerk that doesn’t deserve her time. But the man under the cowboy hat may just surprise the heck out of her, her first impression of him is all wrong, there is a good man under there, she just has to be patient and he’ll eventually let his true colors show. But just as they started to find their place in one another’s lives, her past comes back to haunt her and puts a wrench her new life…and once again she is at a loss!
Finding Home is a heartwarming story of new beginnings, discovering true love, and learning there is life after heartbreak. Vivian and Nash are quite the pairing, neither are in the market for love, but their pesky elderly friend has other ideas for them, and she isn’t about to let them, let their second chance at love slip away. Every chance she has she is putting them together and hoping the sparks swirling around them will ignite the something special brewing between them… and boy is it fun to watch them fight it every step of the way. These two brought life to the pages, their banter stirred up lots of laughs and plenty of heat, and their constant fight against their personal demons really tugged on the heartstrings. I really enjoyed this newest offering from Ms. Valentine, it was unlike anything I have read from her in the past, and I am dying to see how it will all fall into place in the next installment. I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, you really can’t go wrong with this good-hearted cowboy on a quest to find love!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
J.C. has done it again! I love a good cowboy story but this was so much more.
We get to meet Vivian and Nash in this story. They are two different people from two different worlds. Nash is a cowboy. A down to earth guy who lives a simple life. Nash is every woman’s wet dream. Sexy, smart and wholesome. Vivian is a city girl who had it all but lost it in a split second. What happened to Vivian was just cold blooded and if that ever happened to me I would kick some serious a$$
Vivian meets Nash and she is in instant lust and wants him but Nash my man wants nothing to do with her. Nash wants nothing to do with a city girl. She doesn’t know what a simple life means and Nash is not hearing it. Vivian is determined though to let Nash know that she may be from the city but she is worth giving a try.
Will Nash give her a chance or will he tell her to kick boots and get to stepping? I will tell you the ending had me like no way this is not how it ends but it has me needing book two like ASAP!
