“And your alpha makes you fight because?” The vampire sounded curious.
“Money. Werewolf fights are good business.”
Calder didn’t like talking about this. He almost wished the vampire would just bite him and get it over with.
“What a strange idea. The alphas I’ve known would never cause their betas pain for the sake of profit. What did you do that your alpha would use you like this?”
Calder clenched his eyes tighter and curled away from the vampire. He didn’t want to talk about this.
“I asked you a question, little wolf,” the vampire warned, his hand pressing in under Calder’s jaw and forcing his head back. “Now open your eyes and answer me.”
Calder fought the command for all of three seconds before the power in the vampire’s voice compelled his obedience. He took in the sight of the terrifying creature, his breath leaving him in a surprised puff of air.
It didn’t look like a monster.
Impossibly pale, with hair so blond that it was almost white, the vampire had aristocratic cheekbones and a strong jaw, his thin lips parted just enough to allow a glimpse of razor-sharp canines. Teasing at the inhuman teeth with his tongue, the vampire studied Calder implacably. His pale blue eyes stared into Calder’s like he could see into his very soul.
Calder was humiliated. He hadn’t been seen in so long, and looking into the vampire’s eyes he saw reflected what he had become.
He wrenched his eyes away.
The vampire dropped his jaw and Calder jerked back. He kept his eyes firmly below the vampire’s face, fixing them on a set of muscular pectorals.
An unwilling spark of arousal flared at the sight of a thick neck and broad shoulders; pale skin smooth like marble. It was difficult to tell from his position on the floor, but Calder got the impression that the vampire was almost as tall and broad as himself.
He was so far from the spindly creature from legend that Calder almost doubted that the man was a vampire at all.
Then he smelled the ocean of blood and his doubts faded.

Calder, finds his savior in a truly unexpected place. The bond he shares with Einer, Max and Grete is a bond formed with strength and resilience. The dynamics flow in this book.
Einar, Calder, and Max are probably the least likely trio you would expect to work out, but they really did. I’d love to learn more about how Max survived on his own, before he joined the flock. I’m also curious to know exactly how Alpha Patrick was able to steal a wolf from another alpha, and who else, in that pack, was in on it.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Finding Home is a romantic and kinky book about a Vampire Alpha and his flock. Einar is a vampire who will burn the world down to protect his territory and keep his flock—his family—safe, and Grete, his righthand woman, will be at his side lighting the match. There’s no question to Einar’s dominance and power—he’s ruthless when he needs to be, and he makes no apologies for his actions—but he’s also a romantic and caring partner. When Einar destroys an illegal werewolf fighting ring on his territory, he stumbles across Calder, an enslaved werewolf forced to fight over and over for the entertainment of others. Calder has been beaten, both physically and emotionally, and is at the end of his rope. Einar rescues Calder and soon the two men fall in love. Calder is completely devoted to his Vampire Alpha who in turn dotes on Calder. The only issue is that both Einar and Calder are dominant in bed. They find a compromise that works for them both, but there’s still something missing.
Then one day Calder finds Max, a witch with minor powers who’s trying to stay alive despite the danger of powerful witcheaters all around him. With a little bit of coercion, Max finds himself part of Einar’s flock with both Einar and Calder determined to seduce him. This is when some of the most incredibly hot and kinky sex scenes occur. D.J. Heart is the master at sex scenes. He infuses them with intense emotions while also showcasing some of the hottest kink and BDSM scenes I have ever read. Power play, bondage, leather, penetration, and size kink are heavily featured within this book. The relationship between the three men soon grows and it’s sweet to see how they compromise and respect each other. Max’s limits are taken into consideration and respected. It’s easy to see that their relationship is beyond just sex but also deeper. There were also a few worldbuilding elements, like witcheaters, that reminded me of D.J. Heart’s Whatever It Takes series, and I wonder if this book is set in that universe.
I absolutely loved this entire book. I loved the story premise, the character development (including Grete), the action and excitement, the romance, and of course, all the hot, steamy sex scenes that made my toes curl with delight. This book features a wide variety of kinks as well as a polyamorous relationship with two dominant men and one submissive man. I definitely recommend this book.
