Now, I keep myself locked away. It’s easier than letting people in and telling them about that night.
I live my life in the shadows because happiness is something that I can’t have.
I keep my pain where it belongs, in the past. I keep my secrets buried deep down.

Audio Review: Finding Home by K.L. Humphreys, Steve Campbell, Sarah Puckett
Emotion bleeds through every page. Finding Home has pain deep enough to drown in. Humphreys finds beauty in the heartache. Michelle and Trent pull at you with their pain and inspire you with their redemption. Raw, unpredictable, unbelievable and emotional are pain out for all to see. Campbell and Puckett find strength in daring to be vulnerable and finding hope in times of hopelessness.
I recieved a free copy of this story and now I’m leaving a voluntary review.
This book is a YA contemporary romance. It has a guy who’s just left prison and he stays with a woman called Michelle. They both have pasts and they help each other through them.
The emotions in here either made me cry or made me happy.

This is my first book by this author. And it was fantastic, page turner, awesome characters, well written. Trent spent 5 years in prison and family disowned him. Michelle struggled with mental health issues and rape. All the other characters were great also. I’m looking forward to reading Heller’s story (lawyer/?) I loved the book.
Oh My God, this author doesn’t stop surprising me. She wrote another amazing book, but with triggers that can be hard for someone. So don’t read it if you had some triggers issues.
Trent was in prison but is coming out and one friend of him is helping him to put his life in order. So he has the roof over his head and works that he can go on.
Michelle is hard-working, compassionate and trying to help people who need help. But she is also very timid and closed.
They both had hard past, very hard and trusting in others and open up is so hard for them. But something is changing in them when they see each other daily.
Sometimes life is not that easy and past not so easy to forget. Being alone and scared can give weight to your life. Can day overcome those hard pasts and be happy?
I can’t wait for more books from K.L. Humphreys.
I can’t believe it took me this long to read this author. The emotions and earnest depth of here characters just rocked me. I have seen her books but never dived in before but I am so glad I did this time. Family dysfunctional or not is still family, they may not be all that we need but well they are what and who they are. Her family didn’t protect her and his didn’t support him but they both still found home. It’s a story that will touch you and anger you. Your heart will break and you might even shed a tear. These two find forgiveness and love. They find a family that loves and supports them. They find a peace between the storms. This is my first read by this author and I am quite happy to say it wont be my last. I look forward to meeting more of her characters and following their story. This one is well worth the time and I am sure the next will be as well.
Beautiful heart warming story. Trent and Michelle have both been through more than any one person should ever go through, but finding each other they found their homes. Even with everything they have been through and continue to process in their lives they rely on each other to keep them sane. Having the support of your partner is a vital part of finding happiness.
Wow where do I start with this one. Emotional heart wrenching suspense romance so well written storyline. This book is gripping right from the beginning to the end. Trent is finally getting out of the hell he has been in for 5 years . He is going to live with someone he doesn’t even know. But soon learns that Shelly is everything he needs and more. But she has her own issues to overcome. A past she can’t run from no matter how hard she tries. Will her past destroy her and her relationship with Trent? I loved this storyline. Absolutely amazing breath taking non-stop action to keep you wanting more. Highly recommend this one.

Review This book has some serious triggers and is not light I’ll tell you that.
Finding home is about two people who were wronged in so many ways it hard to believe that they ended up surviving at, all especially Michelle. I found her a force to be reckoned with. With everything that has happened to her she somehow managed to rebuilt her world. I loved how Trent did all he could do to help her stay sane even if sometimes it seemed impossible.
Overall this is a beautiful story about how love and friendship are (so much) needed in ones life and how you should ALWAYS as for help no matter what!
Thank you K.L.Humphreys for sharing this with us.

Where to begin with this review ……. I have no idea because I have so many emotions running through me after reading this book. I want to give away the ending because it is so beautifully written but I wont because this is one story that is a MUST READ for everyone. I was captured right from page one and held captive by the story all the way through to the end and when i got there I wanted more. I wanted to see this couple and what was going to unfold.
Trent and Michelle bot have a hard life and they both have suffered from choices they made. But once Trent lays eyes on Michelle he knows she is the one for him. He gets this feeling he can’t shake and he knows that she is going to be his. Michelle she lives her life in darkness choosing to live a quiet life that is until she meets Trent and she knows instantly that her life is about to change and she is going to be Trents girl.
This is an amazing story that is a MUST READ for EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
K.L. Humphreys did a wonderful job with this story. Michelle and Trent have past issues that are hard to move on from. Trent just gets released from prison and has no one or nothing to go home to. When offered a new start he takes it and makes the most of it. Michelle likes to keep herself sheltered in her life because of her tragic past that she cannot forget. Together Michelle and Trent start the road of healing together but not without its difficulties. I really enjoyed the characters and the story, I did however feel that change happened very quickly for these two which made it a bit unrealistic but I still did enjoy. I would for sure recommend.
Absolutely loved it! Two broken people brought together to heal. K. L. is a great writer, she knows how to keep you interested in the story and the characters. A story of love with a bit of mystery and suspense. You won’t go wrong picking up this story or any other by this author. Yup root for the characters and feel what they feel. A must read! 5
Wow okay that was emotional to read. She is so strong for what she has been threw. He is a better man for what he had to live threw for the mastic he made. Two very strong people who make each other better while loving each other !! I really enjoyed this book!!
3.5 stars
Michelle is helping Trent get back on his feet after being in prison. They instantly fall into a relationship. There are so many different twists and turns.
I had trouble connecting with the characters. Trent went from angry to apologizing in record speed. Michelle seemed to take it and not question it.
This story did touch on a number of hard topics which were done well.
This is an absolutely beautiful love story. So real and emotional, I found it hard at times to read. I found the story itself a bit slow but whether that is because Im used to a faster pace or my current natural disaster I couldn’t say.
There may be some triggers for some people but at it’s heart this story is all about love, finding that person who is your home even through all your hardships.
Beautiful, Just beautiful and spoke to me.
KL Humphrey’s you have done it again
Trent and Michelle’s story is an action packed story of finding love a place to belong and finding yourself. Trent’s only did what he thought was best to protect but got punished for it. With Michelle he is set free and will do everything for her and to protect her. Feeling like its all finally coming together Michelle gives in eventually but can she let go go and relax or is there something hiding around the corner. I loved this book and the characters. You feel for them and feel apart of the story of them and their lifes. A must read story and authorthat you wont be able to put down. I’d highly recommend as must read.
I’m not quite sure how I feel about this one. There was quite a bit I REALLY loved, but also some that really brought things down for me.
What I loved:
The sweetness. Seriously, it’s off the charts. Trent is all kinds of swoony, sweet, melt your heart goodness. Michelle is just as sweet with how much she cares for her tenants/friends. It’s a whole lot of feel good with those two.
The open and honest discussion about mental health. I loved that even with all the feel good K.L. Humphreys did not shy away when it came to character who suffered from severe trauma and struggled with depression. There was no “magic cure” all better, but there was support, therapy, and love making it all the more realistic.
What I didn’t love:
At times things got repetitive. You’d think something was resolved and then the next time it was back to unresolved. Feelings about family, forgiveness, etc. Both Trent and Michelle were pretty wishy washy and it felt like whiplash with how quickly they would be ok with something or someone then not.
The drama. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some good drama but sometimes it was too much. There was always something wrong and as soon as one thing was resolved there was something else wrong. With so many separate dramas going on it really caused me to lose interest in the story occasionally.
Overall Finding Home is a super sweet read with a whole lot of feels that I’d definitely recommend if you’re a fan of feel good and lean towards the lower level of steam.
KL does it again!!! Finding Home takes you for a ride you don’t want to get off. This book is about love, trust, and truly Finding Home.
Michelle Nelson has been trying to forget about a rotten childhood and the event that forever changed her life. She’s hit rock bottom and is depressed, but she’s trying to drag her way back to normalcy with every breath she takes. She keeps her heart locked up and doesn’t share her thoughts and feelings . . . until one man starts breaking down all of her walls.
Trent Lawrence did time for protecting someone he loved who then didn’t back him up. He’s bitter and doesn’t feel like he’ll ever trust or love again. But, now he’s free and he has a new chance at freedom . . . and his one connection to the outside is a woman he’s never met. She offers him so much more than a fresh start, and he can’t help but to fall for this beautiful and giving woman . . . and when Michelle finds herself in danger, Trent vows to protect her with everything he has no matter what the cost.
I absolutely loved this couple. Both were let down by their families and struggled to love and trust again. They’ve seen just how unfair the world can be and have learned to hide their true feelings. But, together, they start making each other feel whole again.
All the while they are learning to live and love life again, danger is stalking Michelle. The friends who are more like family, that Michelle didn’t realize she had, band together to do everything they can to keep her physically safe and emotionally well.
This book is sweet and super intense with some really unexpected twists. It was a fabulous read. 4 stars.
Finding Home is more than just about finding your place in the world. It brings into reality that one decision can be life altering for everyone. This story is so well written, the characters come to life.
This book is an emotional, twisty, suspenseful and drama filled page Turner.
I was instantly drawn into this story! Trent’s story broke my heart! I loved that he was able to come out of a dark situation and become the man he did. Michelle had a story that left me broken. She went through so much but luckily has a family she made to get her through the worst. How patient Trent was with her had me smiling. He truly found his home with her.
