Delightful, thought provoking, and inspiring. A man and the dog who became his from the other side of the world.
Love animals.
Finding Gobi is an excellent book about a marathon runner finding a stray dog that claimed him, the runner. The dog follows him through grueling races that last three to five days. The dog is so tiny but manages to keep up following the runner. A one point the runner actually looses time when he turns back to help the tiny dog cross a body of water. They soon become inseparable, but then the race is over and now the runner endures heart wrenching experiences when he tries to bring the mutt to his home in a different country. Excellent book.
This was interesting not only for the dog lover in me but for the runner also! Not that I would be doing an ultra, (I have done 50 marathons) but peeking into what Dion and his wife do in preparing and running an ultra was fascinating! Add to that the drama of Gobi’s rescue and now you have a great book!!
As a dog lover, I enjoyed this book very much. However, there were times when the story of Gobi the dog got lost in the detailed explanations of the author’s ultra distance running.
Absolutely loved this book. Everyone in it makes a real mark on our lives.
I finished this book in a day. Easy to get into and a touching story.
Distance runner meets a unique and lovable dog while running in China and conspires to get it back to England.
I loved the story, but I found myself flipping pages to make the story move along.
Loved this book and easily related as we lost our dog while visiting in Los Angeles
I love this book. So glad Gobi got a new home. It is intersting to read about the runs.
Who could NOT love this little dog…and his wonderful friend, the author.
As a dog lover I really liked this book. Gobi deserved a good forever home.
A very enjoyable adventure of the author, an ultramarathon runner who is chosen by this apparently stray dog. I loved the story and the adventure. I don’t plan to ever become a runner but it was amazing to read about these desert 150 mile multi day races. I highly recommend this book. It was inspirational and uplifting.
Great writing and I learned a lot about endurance running. Never really thought about it existing. The dog story was heartwarming and so glad things worked out in the end. Having been to China and Mongolia a few times I can imagine his frustration and worry that things might go wrong. A lovely read and glad I opted for it.
