Explaining to the seriously sexy cop why she hasn’t noticed her husband has been missing for three days is both embarrassing and sobering. But the day Fiona Rowland lifts her head above the churning chaos of kids, carpools, and a million things to do, annoyance turns to fury…then to worry. Where is Stanley?
A fun, fast read with a little suspense, romance, and humor. Fiona is a likable, well-developed main character as a harried mom and distracted wife, Her friendship with Di is both touching and funny, as she tries to help Fiona figure what’s happened to her missing husband. A love story set in today’s hectic family life with a few twists that will keep you turning pages.
This book was so much more than I expected!
Going by the cover and the blurb I thought it was going to be a light-hearted contemporary romance, when in fact, the author takes us on a road to self-discovery.
What would you do if your husband mysteriously disappeared without a trace? That’s the nightmare housewife, Fiona Rowland finds herself in. She’s left with a hefty pole of bills, two distraught teenagers, and a whole slew of questions.
When a sexy Police detective shows up to investigate the case, Fiona is further shocked by the attraction she feels for a much younger man- and besides, she’s married!
Her old school chum, Di, hears about the case and comes running, but not without a bunch of ghosts chasing her heels.
There’s so much to this book, I don’t want to give it away, other than to say you should definitely add it to your reading list, you won’t be disappointed!
I give Finding Fiona 5 + lovely kisses- A Must Read!
I’m a huge fan of Ms. Fasano, and enjoy everything I’ve ever read from her awesome catalogue. Finding Fiona is a personal favorite! You just can’t go wrong with this author’s fantastically talented prose.
Love her books, this is a fast, entertaining romantic read!
I love this writer and all her work and this book was no different…
Fiona leads a full life with two active teens and a million things to do. She’s constantly on the move which doesn’t forgive the fact that she didn’t catch on her husband was missing until three days later. Sure, he’s a busy guy, too, but still… shouldn’t a wife notice when her husband disappears? Shouldn’t she be devastated?
This author knows how to handle the twist and turns in this story with a creative talent that lets you feel for Fiona the whole time she lives through the constant turmoil. There’s laughter and tears – with a feel-good thread running throughout – you must read it to see what I mean. You’ll be so glad you did.
I’m a big fan of Donna Fasano… read all her books. Fiona is a bit of a departure but a page turner, characters of Fiona & Di are so real…and the ‘truth’ of this book is that …it is scarily true
When Fiona takes three days to notice that her husband Stanley has gone missing, she’s is beset not only because of a growing worry about his safety, but also because it’s embarrassing to admit her own neglect. “What kind of a wife was she that her husband could go missing and she’d spent the entire evening fuming at him?” In the process of finding out what happened to him, Fiona must also find out who she is, at the core.
Fiona’s past, invoked in conversations with Di, her best pal from high school, serves as a contrast to who she has become. Her life has become too hectic for her own good. Maybe the mystery is exactly the opportunity she needs to sort things out. When the whole world is turning upside down, that’s the moment to grab the good stuff. The emotions that connect the family in trying times. “It wasn’t until the wee hours of the morning, while Fiona sat alone and wide awake in her room, that the realization dawned on her: both of her children had spoken about their father in a past tense that was gut-wrenchingly emphatic.
I love how Fiona comes to accept that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but life goes on. “Whoever’s at fault… I’d do it all over again. Does that make me crazy? I’d marry Stan all over again… I’d go through all this craziness… I’d even face the fact that m husband was disloyal, just so I could have Cassie and Sam.”
Five stars.
Donna Fasano never disappoints. Fiona is the picture of a complex modern woman, trying to make it all work. She’s got a cast of uniquely fun BFFs to help her through this story that gives the reader everything they want in a great beach read: love, laughter, emotions, and a little bit of mystery.
A Realistic Intriguing Read
Fiona’s a busy mom with two teens, and she’s constantly challenged keeping up with their busy schedules, while her husband Stanley’s a CPA, who also teaches an accounting class at a local community college on the side.
But when Stan suddenly goes missing, Fiona’s embarrassed to realize it’s been three days since it’s happened.
Her whole life falls into question as the mystery behind his disappearance unfolds, and she comes to realize just how out of touch she and Stanley have become with each other while following their own interests.
The story becomes emotional as Fiona uncovers secret after secret, and when a high school friend shows up the situation becomes more complicated, when Fiona also discovers she’s never seen the events in her past clearly, because she’d been living in a world of her own.
I won’t give away any spoilers, but personally, I agree with some of the reviewers, who wanted a different ending. BUT that’s easy to say as an outsider looking in. If something similar happened to any one of us, we might very well end up doing exactly what Fiona did.
With a great plot and subplots, not only is this story well-written and developed, it pretty much has it all—mystery, romance, betrayal and humor. Finding Fiona is a realistic intriguing read about two parents who’ve grown apart. Will the family be able to mend?
I give it Five Stars. I highly recommend it.
Haven’t we all at one time or another wanted to step outside the rat-race of our lives and become something different? The question is, what happens to those we leave behind when we do? This is a delightful story of friendship, family, and by enduring a trial by fire… figuring out what’s really important in our lives.
I like a book that you don’t know the ending once you are 100 pages in!
A joy to experience!
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the novel Finding Fiona by Donna Fasano and this review was given freely.
A complex and twisted story of two friends rebuilding their lives and friendship after Di loses her job and Fiona loses her husband. Realistic characters, secrets, lying,
teen problems, attractive police officers and finding a fulfilling family centered life are just a few of the things that make this an enthralling must read.
