Mary Holland is back from the nightmarish trip she took to Maine with her best friend, Betty. Wendy has written another great book in this series. I enjoy the characters, Mary and Betty. Imagine Mary’s surprise when she receives a call from her husband’s uncle asking Mary to visit him in the hospital in Georgia. After Mary and Betty drive to Georgia, they discover he is not in a regular hospital but a mental hospital. Someone has been murdered and Funny Bones is the suspect. I absolutely love this series. Lots of twists and turns, humor and mystery in it.

Hospitals Can Be Murder!
Another mad cap mystery adventure for Mary and Betty when visiting Uncle ‘Funny Bones’ Albert in the hospital. This is the first book I’ve read from the series and I love the warm, zany characters of Mary and Betty. The series is set in the 1940s and very enjoyable to read with plenty of suspense, drama, secrets, several twists and a sweet HEA. Enjoy!
I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review.

This is the second book I have read in this series and I love this one as much as the first one I read. I love this author’s writing anyway as I have read other series and have never been disappointed. Her books are always very clean and I can trust her to provide an awesome read. I love these characters and am looking forward to more in the series.

Mary Holland gets a phone call from her husband’s uncle. He wants her to come to visit him at a hospital in Georgia. So Mary and her good friend, Betty, drive to the hospital. But this is a mental hospital! There must be some mistake. Not long after they arrive, someone is killed and Mary’s Uncle-In-Law is accused of the murder! Join Mary and Betty as these two try to find a killer that pushes Mary’s own mind to its brink! I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.
Mary is again investigating a murder. All she wanted to do was to visit her husband’s uncle but instead she ended up in a very bad situation. This series is fun and very tricky, the twists in the story keep you guessing who is doing what to whom. Betty of course keeps fainting whenever she is exposed to something out of the ordinary. Uncle Albert is a loveable character who has lost his way. Al in all a very good mystery story. Highly recommend to all cozy mystery lovers.
Betty and Mary would much rather stay safe at hoe in Pineville, working at the paper . Mary would love to have her John home from the second World War, working with her at the family paper, instead of fighting for England to defeat Germany.
when a call comes from his Uncle Albert, Mary goes to visit in his stead – England too far away for a family visit. Her John was the only one to stay in touch with Albert. As it turns out, the hospital Albert is at is an institution – a private one for mental patients.
a madcap murderous mystery is afoot at the hospital, and ghosts from the past haunt Albert.
In the end, stolen fortunes and murderous care givers must be dealt with.
Mary and Betty face it all with their usual elan – and a bit of fainting by Betty.
a kind hearted Ellie develops closer ties with the family – and Mary and Betty try hard to keep more at hoe and less away, and less in the way of craziness.
clean and mostly sweet cozy, with classic murder mystery and WWII period elements thrown in – a fun KU read!
I received an advanced copy from Booksprout, read the book on Kindle Unlimited, and recommend it to cozy mystery / period cozy fans.

I love reading books by Wendy Meadows. This was the first book from this series that I’ve read. The pace of the book was slower that I liked at the beginning. The end was more exciting that I anticipated that it would be.

Mary and Betty have only been back home for a month when Mary receives a call from Uncle Albert. He says he’s in a hospital in Georgia and would welcome a visit. Mary convinces Betty to travel along with her and when they arrive at the hospital, they are in for a bit of a surprise. Not is all as it seems and soon the head of the hospital is found dead. Uncle Albert clues Mary and Betty in on his past including the time he was away at war, which all factor into what is going on at the hospital.
The author weaves a very tangled web of interconnecting stories that all lead to a very surprising end. If you are looking for a mystery set in the 1940s with lots of twists and turns, then you must pick up a copy of this book to read today.

A delightful and entertaining read in the continuing Pineville series. There are more plot twists than in an old prison turned into a luxury hospital. You won’t see what comes around the corner. Read and enjoy!

Mary and Betty just get home from one crazy trip, only to get a call from Uncle Albert asking Mary to come visit him in Georgia at the hospital. Turns out that it’s a mental hospital and he’s a patient. He also knows a murder is going to happen and he’s going to be blamed for it. That’s when things get really crazy! I really enjoyed these characters and absolutely love the ending. I definitely will be reading more of this series.
