Layne Higgs grew up with a clear plan for his future: find his bondmate, mate during heat, and raise a family with the same love and devotion his parents showered on him. Until two years ago, he never anticipated that future would be with his best friend-now-boyfriend Peyton, and Layne has never been happier. Then an unexpected, impossible pregnancy obliterates everything Layne knows about … himself as an omega.
Peyton Tovey has lived his entire life on borrowed time and that time is running out. With a baby on the way, Peyton agrees to participate in a risky gene therapy trial to save his life and give him the future he wants with Layne and their son. But the cost of the trial is more than anyone anticipates, and to have their happy future, Peyton and Layne will both have to find their way back to each other—or lose everything.
FIND ME is the fourth book in the “Finding Free” omegaverse series, which is a spin-off of the fan-favorite “Breaking Free” series. This is an original universe featuring mpreg, A/B/O dynamics, heats, knotting and an alpha-dominated society that is starting to see advances in omega rights. Content warnings for dark themes apply. The book I’ve been waiting for!
OMG, I’ve been waiting for this book since I read the first book in the Finding Free series (a spin-off from the Breaking Free series). Let me tell you – it was worth the wait; I loved it so much!
The love affair between Peyton and Layne has been a background story in each of the books in this series but things really started heating up in Hear Me. A.M. Arthur did her best to torture me with the cliffhanger for that book.
Let me warn you that this story will rip you to pieces; but it will also put you back together again. I knew from the book’s blurb that it would be a really emotional story but I still wasn’t prepared for everything that happened.
We know from way back in the Breaking Free series that Peyton has a disease that will kill him before he’s 25 unless a cure is found. We also know that Layne’s brother, Demir, became a doctor with his sole focus to find a cure for Peyton.
I never could have anticipated all of the twists that A.M. wrote for this story and how hard it would be for Peyton and Layne to finally get their HEA. There were times that I thought she would not let them have one but really, I knew better than that. A.M. might write angsty romance but she always gives us the required HEA/HFN.
There is so much I’d like to say about this book but I just can’t. It seems like everything would be too much of a spoiler. All I can say is if you are a fan of this series you absolutely won’t want to miss this book. I am so glad that I read it.
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
4.5 stars
The #angstpreg is strong with this one. I mean, I knew that A.M. Arthur would put Peyton and Layne through the wringer, but I wasn’t prepared to be so sad through so much of the story, even though there had been foreshadowing in the previous book about what was to come. Sad, because it hurt to see these two struggling with so much, and sad because this was the first story where was no one I could really be mad at in the situation that was tearing them apart.
The boys and their families go through a lot here. Layne has been through a lot starting in the original Breaking Free series and Peyton has always been on borrowed time. There is so much that is worked through in this story and I loved that A.M. Arthur really covered so much and dealt with some serious issues here that had been festering for so long.
It’s always great when four books into a series you can still be so moved and read things that haven’t been covered before and I can’t wait for the next one!
Powerful, emotional, intense, angst, and amazing heart-stopping love. Sometimes you wonder just how much is too much for characters to handle and this is a book that pushes those limits. This story was well written and the story-line will live with you long after the book is finished. It give this series cohesiveness to see previous characters mingle with our current MC’s. This book really took the reader through the gambit of emotions and that roller-coaster ride brought us to a very thankful HEA.
Peyton and Layne will touch your heart! These characters are so well defined that you feel that you know them and that they are part of your chosen family. You will feel their heartbreak, suffer their struggles with them and celebrate their triumphs with glee.
This is book four of the Finding Free series and it really should be read in order.
I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my honest opinion and review.
