Lisa Gardner’s runaway New York Times bestseller—a fast-paced thrill ride featuring Detective D. D. Warren.Seven years ago, carefree college student Flora Dane was kidnapped while on spring break. For 472 days, Flora learned just how much one person can endure.Miraculously alive after her ordeal, Flora has spent the past five years reacquainting herself with the rhythms of normal life, … with the rhythms of normal life, working with her FBI victim advocate, Samuel Keynes. She has a mother who’s never stopped loving her, a brother who is scared of the person she’s become, and a bedroom wall covered with photos of other girls who’ve never made it home.
When Boston detective D. D. Warren is called to the scene of a crime—a dead man and the bound, naked woman who killed him—she learns that Flora has tangled with three other suspects since her return to society. Is Flora a victim or a vigilante? And with her firsthand knowledge of criminal behavior, could she hold the key to rescuing a missing college student whose abduction has rocked Boston? When Flora herself disappears, D.D. realizes a far more sinister predator is out there. One who’s determined that this time, Flora Dane will never escape. And now it is all up to D. D. Warren to find her.

Got to be honest I think the author sat next to Lou reed at school.have read a couple of books that are similar but this just takes your breath away, you never know if the lead character is a hero or a villain but you root for her just the same!!. A wonderful insight into the mindscape off that American phenoman the serial killer.just don’t read it in the dark, it’s scary!!! Loved it absolutely loved it!!!
Eight books in and this series and author still grabs me. Psychological thrillers at it’s finest.
I’m a huge Lisa Gardner fan and this was all her!
Read her stuff!
She writes an incredible mystery. Her books would make a great movie
Excellent book. Intense, lots of suspense, I’m looking forward to her next one!
Although I love all of her books, this one just didn’t quite make it for me.
Great read. Hard to put down.
enjoyable read; however, if you are impressionable don’t read at night before bed.
This book has more twists and turns than a black diamond ski trail. I thought it was well written, it kept me guessing as to what was going on/what was going to happen. Lisa Gardner is one of my ‘count on her’ authors, and this book was no exception. Enjoy!
Just plain excellent. But what else do we expect from this author?
OK not great
What a thriller!! Kept me reading until I finished.
Suspenseful and exciting
The characters are well written. Definitely shows a different side of both Victims and predator well written
Lisa Gardner is by far my favorite suspense author. I love all her book. This #8 book in her Sargent Detective DD Warren series was fantastic. Edge of your seat nail biting drama. Kidnapping is at the forefront of this book, but goes so much deeper. It’s a must read, even if you’ve not read the others, this could be a stand alone.
I really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing.
As always author keeps you riveted to the book from page 1. Characters are well written. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
I couldn’t put this one down right from page one it held me captive. It is a little bit twisted after what happened to her and then to take herself right back into the thick of things while trying to help others. I thought this was great writing and I will read more of hers.
This book is very, very good.
