A government investigator dares to expose the sinister cover-up of a deadly plane crash in this thrilling behind-the-scenes tale of the aviation industry from New York Times-bestselling author John J. Nance
In the control tower at Kansas City International Airport, all the radar displays are red. But for the experienced pilots of North America Airlines, the thunderstorms aren’t the problem: NAA … thunderstorms aren’t the problem: NAA has been cutting costs to stave off bankruptcy, and will do anything to keep their planes in the air. Unfortunately, no matter what they do, one is on its way down.
After the aircraft collides with another plane on the Kansas City runway, in one of the worst aviation disasters of the decade, National Transportation Safety Board investigator Joe Wallingford arrives on the scene. As he studies the wreckage and pieces together the events that led to the tragedy, he realizes there’s far more at play than pilot error or equipment malfunction. Wallingford will have to risk his career–and perhaps even his life–to solve the puzzle of the crash.

Enjoyed this one; always new it is not always pilot error.
I love all of John J. Nance’s books. I discovered them a little late but I have caught up and they have not kept me from getting on a plane!
didn’t finish. Got bogged down in blaming FAA, NTSB,etc.
Educational.
Great book to read and very informative.
I really enjoyed this book and it held my interest from start to finish. It portrayed characters one could care about.
Excellent. This author knows the aviation business and his writing reflex it. I love all his books,
Very dated
Although fiction, I learned a lot about aircraft crash investigation. Tough job.
Not boring
There are many characters in this story & I found it a little confusing at first. There was a lot of NTSB & FAA information about plane crash investigations that I found interesting. The political games became tedious at times but I’m sure it was not too far from the real world, unfortunately. I became hooked and wanted to find out who or what caused the crash so I kept reading through the tedious parts and am glad I finished the book.
Author Nance did it again! This story, as they all are, is out of the box and gives new insight to the world of airliners and their capabilities.
Riviting, a real thriller.
It wasn’t just about airplanes or the airline industry. Quite philosophical in some places. Being a pilot myself, it was so interesting to read about airplane people.
It was a very good read. Very good story line
Great book that I really enjoyed reading. Kept me totally interested!
With his credentials, especially his experience as a pilot, I don’t know if anyone is better suited to write this type of story. The start of the story sets off everything else into motion. A very well-written book.
Since I worked for an airline for 30 years this was scary. Lifelike is some ways. Enjoyed it however & will read more from this author.
I do like Nance’s books. Just glad that I have no scheduled flying!
From the very beginning of the book a passenger plane crashes into another passenger plane that is taxied waiting for takeoff. The plot revolves around the NTBS the government agency tasked with finding the cause of the crash. Even though the book is fiction it will give you insight into the process of the investigating. Was it weather, human error, mechanical problems or a murder of a specific passenger? And of course, there is the political pressure as well as the airline company who wants to make sure it is not their fault. You won’t want to quit reading until you get to the end.
