Prelude in the American Gods series.Young. Wealthy. Elite. Attractive. The gentlemen’s secret society at Yale was filled with them. And Nathaniel Radcliffe, the bane of my existence, was one of them.As the right hand of the American Gods, he was conceited and arrogant. A dangerously handsome man in a tailored custom suit and shiny black oxford loafers. The classroom was our battlefield. We made a … classroom was our battlefield. We made a sport out of arguing and debating, ready to do anything in order to win over the other.
Deadly opponents, deadlier minds.
I’d sworn I’d never give him the upper hand, until…
The secret I’ve been hiding for the last three years?
He just discovered it… and now he has all the power.

She has blown me away again!! I really wish I would have discovered R. Scarlett sooner because she is simply amazing!!
Nathaniel and Juliette’s story is an intense and edgy enemies to lovers like you’ve never experienced before. This was a pretty quick and addictive read that had me yearning for more.
Oh holy mother! These dirty filthy bastards can have all the stars in all the universes.
Nathaniel Radcliffe the Third is known for his wealthy, power and the insane way he and his friends are worshiped. He can skewer a man with just one look, bring down empires with the flick of his hands and ruin lives with one deadly smile.
Now, he’s set his sights on Juliette and won’t stop till he has fully conquered her.
Okay HOLY FUCK what even happened here, my dudes? I was left contemplating every life decision that led me to this god damn book because what the fuck did I do right???
I honestly wasn’t expecting to fall in love with all the four men in mere pages but I did and it happened and now I’m cancelled. I can’t even begin to explain my entire thought process through this book because (a) it’s fucking insane (b) it mostly involves me shouting and running into walls and (c) R. Scarlett is a bloody genius whose works cannot be out into mortal words. THERE I SAID WHAT I SAID!
I’m here ready to abandon my entire life for the other books so like no big deal at all.
R. Scarlett is now officially one of my must-read authors. Filthy Gods was hott, steamy and such a good read that I was glued to my seat until the very end. This enemies to lovers novella had so much in it that it left you feeling like you read a full length novel.
Can I just say here how much I love Nathaniel. OMG…he was Hot AF, loyal and protective. Juliette and Nathaniel’s chemistry was so intense, you could feel it off the pages of the book. I loved them together especially how they challenged each other.
This story was fast paces and easy to read. Apart from romance and steamy scenes, there’s some drama and angst which just added to making the story so amazing.
This novella gave us the introduction to the American Gods and I really can’t wait to read their stories. R. Scarlett I am ready to meet the American Gods….
Filthy Gods was a phenomenal page-turner worthy of more than 5 stars. It was gripping, engrossing and I would highly recommend it.
So everybody says welcome to Rebecca Scarlett to the Contemporary Romance Genre, because she’s here—and she’s here to stay! In a book full of Filthy Gods, she’s the goddess and she is FILTHY indeed!
Filthy Gods was just the premise of something bigger—something called American Gods. And if Rebecca Scarlett did all sorts of things to my body with this book, I have no idea what she will do to me with the next one. Because believe me, after reading Filthy Gods, you will be selling your kidney just to get the next book in the series.
I don’t use to talk much about what’s going on in the book—you have the blurb for that matter, what I do is try to explain how the book made me feel. And what I can say about Filthy Gods is that this one was like a wet dream to me, my kind of wet dream of course.
Filthy Gods had EVERYTHING I dream about, everything I love in a book. The Godlike hero, the witty but vulnerable heroine, characters that leave you desperate to get your hands on their own books… I’m looking at you ARSEN VASILIEV, the kind of steamy scenes that make your ovaries barely contain themselves, and a feeling of longing—one that only comes when a book is so good that you just want more.
All in all, Filthy Gods was delicious and oh-so-addicting. I cannot wait for the next book. If you’re looking for your next wickedly hot read, look no further. It’s time for you to GET FILTHY!
So. EFFING. GOOD!!!
I’ve come to expect greatness from R. Scarlett and even in her first foray into contemporary romance, she delivers in spades! The way she introduces Nathaniel and Juliette and the world of the American Gods is genius and gripping and sexy. How she managed to encompass such an intense love story AND a novella length intro into a series is mind-boggling! The tension, the mystery, the intrigue – there is so much to love about this book and it is the PERFECT way to whet our appetites for the full length books. My only “complaint” is that I wish Nathaniel and Juliette had a full length story; though if this is what she does with a novella, prepared to be blown away when she expands her scope on this world! 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

There was something untouchable, something holy and unholy about the boys. Sacred and sinful all at once. Bastards of Grace. Fame, wealth and power poured out of them. They were the things of legends and myths.
I have been dying, literally dying to get my hands on this book. I have never read any of R. Scarlett’s books before but the synopsis for Filthy Gods drew me in. Then lord have mercy she released that cover!!! I am going straight to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $200, straight into the flames for the thoughts I had upon seeing that. I had high expectations for this prequel and every single one was met.
I was the maid; he was the owner’s son.
I was a poor girl; he was a god.
He wasn’t mine. He would never be only mine.
Juliette and Nathaniel. Two opposites in the world of corruption, run by money and power. The push and pull of these two was intense and immediately felt. Two headstrong adversaries that blow like land mines when they come in contact. The chemistry between the two is electrically charged and fueled by their debates. They are off the charts hot together.
Gods fell in love with mortals and demolished them piece-by-piece.
I love this beginning to the series, or what I am calling a teaser of the highest extreme. We meet the ‘American Gods’ but we don’t get much on them. Just enough to tease our curiosity, and in my case have me searching for who’s book is first. Gabe, James and Arsen have my attention. I think I am most excited for Arsen, because that name just does something to me and because he is such an enigma. I know the least about him, so of course I want to jump his Russian ass 🙂
Filthy Gods sets up what is sure to be one hell of a series. Think: Skulls meets Cruel Intentions, had a baby and spoiled it rotten. It’s going to be awesome!!
5 Filthy Stars!
This is my first book by R. Scarlett and I truly enjoyed it. It’s her first contemporary romance series since she usually writes paranormal, and I’m SO happy she decided to give it a go!! It’s a great intro and story to her upcoming full series, American Gods.
This is Nathaniel & Juliette’s story. It IS a novella but a great one at that. I have a feeling this won’t be the last time we’ll hear from N & J. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!!
WHAAAATTT OMFG FILTHY GODS RULE!!!!
I was introduced this this author late last year and I have FLOVED every book she has put out. I am excited for more books from her and will try to wait patiently wait for the next installment for this series. This one takes me back to an old TV series the Billionaire Boys Club with HAWT sexy AF guys who have each others back as long as you are loyal.
Loved this quick read that I snuck in at work, yeah I know bad, bad me. I will definitely be reading this one again and again…. Update I read this one a second time just before release!!!
I can’t wait for more of the Filthy Gods books to come. YAAASSS Rebecca you rocked this one hard that I am hungry for more…..
***5 ‘Semper Fidelis’ Stars***
Hot. Hot. Hot. Not that I expected any less considering the title is Filthy Gods, because if it wasn’t panty destroying then I’d have been extremely disappointed. But it was more than that. It had heart, humor and I didn’t want it to end.
Nathaniel is deliciously filthy with his words and actions, the man is sex on a stick in every way imaginable, but what makes him lethal is his heart and when that is unleashed all bets are off. Juliette has had one goal in mind since first stepping onto her college campus and she is determined to make it happen. Intelligent, witty and with an inner fire that burns brighter than she realizes, Juliette would definitely be a woman I’d want to be friends with if given the chance.
Their enemies to lovers journey was all kinds of filthy, smexy deliciousness, but it also had a lot of heart. To watch Nathaniel and Juliette become more to each was a lot of fun. Simply put they fit perfectly together.
This is my first read by the author and I want more of her words. The writing was engaging and I was sucked in from the very first page. The pacing was good and I really enjoyed the 1st person POV. Novellas can be tricky, especially when introducing a new series, but Ms. Scarlett did a great job with it. The romance was well done and I didn’t feel like it was missing anything and I got a nice little intro to the American Gods, all of whom I need to know more about, especially one in particular. So, while I wish the next book was already available, I will do my best to wait patiently for it, because the need is real!

“His words, his words alone had the power to ignite me. His golden words. His mind had aroused mine even before his body had.”
Filthy Gods is the prequel to the American Gods series by the talented R. Scarlett, and it is the absolute perfect way to start all the excitement and feelings I am sure Rebecca will deliver with the series. In this book we get a brief intro to the American Gods main characters, but its main focus is the deep mind and soul love story between Nathaniel and Juliette.
“He was loyal to a select few and that loyalty was so powerful it ruined men and gods.”
Nathaniel is a powerful, intelligent and HOT as hell Yale student who challenges Juliette both inside and outside the classroom. He is beyond fascinated with her intelligence, her mind excites him and she becomes on the perfect match for him. Juliette had a complete different upbringing and hated how Nathaniel challenged her every possible time, but it also made her feel alive and confident that her future would be bright.
For those of us who fall first with the mind, this book is a perfect example of what it means to find the person who challenges you in all the best ways, but also makes you feel safe and wanted.
“I’m a greedy, overachieving bastard, Juliette. I examined the risks and you are worth the fall.”
To say I’m having a serious case of Nathaniel withdrawals is an understatement! I NEED so much more of their story, and I need it now!!…I have been a huge fan of Rebecca’s work since the day her first book went live and she just keeps setting the bar higher and higher. CANNOT wait for American Gods!
There is something about this authors writing that really gets me worked up. She speaks to a deeper, primal need in me when she writes heroes that really dominate. Filthy Gods is the beginning of her new series, the American Gods. And the title alone is a major attraction to romance and contemporary readers alike. It reels readers in and piques their curiousity to really discover just how filthy, how godly and how much of an asshole these boys are. This is the beginning of a revolution, this is a story that will bring all your elitist asshole dreams to life.
However, I don’t think anything prepared me for this book. The American Gods. Elite. Young. Wealthy. Assholes. And basically rule the world with the power each of them grasp in their very delicious & very capable hands. As individuals, the power that emanates off them is palpable but as a group, they are a force to be reckoned with. It’s such a beautiful thing to read about.
Filthy Gods is Nathaniel Radcliffe’s story. It’s short, sweet & oh so sexy. I would definitely consider this as an enemies to lovers story. Nathaniel is the cocky, rich asshole & Juliette’s rival at Yale. They both compete for the top spot and debate viciously with each other. Juliette comes from meager beginnings, she’s struggling to pay her way through college and works to the bone to achieve it. However, no one at Yale knows that about her. And when there’s an opportunity to work at an elusive country club with a salary that will pay the rest of her year, she jumps at the chance. Not knowing that her enemy, Nathaniel, is the son of the owner.
Nathaniel discovers her secret and in order to keep it quiet, they start a very steamy, summer affair. It’s delicious, dirty and had me so worked up, I couldn’t stop squirming in my seat! One thing this author excels at is having her heroes talk so dirty, I swear they’d talk the panties of a nun. It’s hot , and only left me panting for more. I am so in love with this book and the story of just how beautiful it is when these Gods fall in love.
I don’t what else I could possibly say to do this book justice. It’s filthy. And it’s literally about a God of a man who I still dream about. Get ready because R. Scarlett is taking no prisoners, she’s not going to stop until every single person has fallen under the American Gods spell. But hell, I volunteer as tribute!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
So I am already a MASSIVE Fangirl of this author’s PNR books – well Holy Shitballs she’s just BLOWN ME AWAY with her first foray into contemporary romance. Wowsa!!!
Think Cruel Intentions with a smart girl Yale twist… I want to be BFFs with the heroine – feisty, brave, hard working & crazy smart. FLOVED her!!! And the Hero – well let me just say I kinda LUST him pretty hard. He’s absolutely more than meets the eye. Defuckinlicious!!!
Sexual chemistry through the roof, secret friendships, assehole bffs who ALL need their own books & just enough angst to have me tearing through the pages. Absolutely loved it!!! Gimme more of these characters ASAP!!!!
Filthy Gods is the prequel to R. Scarlett’s new series American Gods and I for one cannot wait for the rest of this series; seriously so so good! Filthy Gods was most definitely the perfect introduction to this new book world; you will fall in love with all these new characters instantly.
This is Nathaniel & Juliette’s story… Nathaniel is one of the “American Gods” and Juliette’s “nemesis” at Yale University and her biggest competition. Nathaniel is privileged elite & knows exactly what he wants… and that happens to be Juliette. But Juliette has secrets; she is living behind smoke and mirrors and allowing her peers to see and believe what they want about her…and now much to her dismay Nathaniel knows her secrets. When she strikes a deal with this American God to keep her secrets; Can she honor the deal and keep her feelings in check? Can Nathaniel do the same?
Filthy Gods was a fast paced, sexy, all consuming novella that has me on pins and needles waiting for the next book in this series! Now if you’ll excuse me I have a serious book hangover to take care of
Boom. That’s how it’s done! Filthy Gods is the perfect introduction to R. Scarlett’s upcoming series American Gods. Filthy Gods takes off immediately leaving me no time to fasten my seatbelt. I just had to hang on for this fabulous and entertaining ride that it was. I was intrigued with Juliette and the sexy Gods Nathaniel, James, Gabe and Arsen.
Juliette and Nathaniel were so much fun and their chemistry off the charts. I’m talking combustible. Hot as hell. They challenge each other in every way possible just to get a reaction from one another and believe me they do. I thought I had Nathaniel figured out but he kept surprising me and Juliette only kept proving that she wouldn’t take crap from anyone. She’s a fierce young woman. Together they’re an unstoppable force with so much heat.
Filthy Gods is intoxicating and deliciously hot. R. Scarlett keeps surprising me with every book she releases and now she has ventured into the contemporary romance genre and excels flawlessly with Filthy Gods. I’m on pins and needles for the upcoming books cause after finishing Filthy Gods I need Gabe, James and Arsen in my life.

This book is perfection at its finest. I have read it 3 times and I could read it 100 more. Nathaniel and Juliette are HOT! This book is a novella but it honestly didn’t feel like it because it filled me with so much emotion that really had me connecting with the characters. I really love Juliette because she is so head strong and has such a fire determination about her. She works hard for everything she has and it’s amazing. Nathaniel is a delicious alpha who has the same amount of determination as Juliette and has such a powerful presents about him. I can not wait for the rest of the American God’s to have their stories told. Rebecca writes such beautiful stories and I fall in love with her writing more and more with every book I read by her.
This was such a different read from this author, but as usual she did phenomenal! The ONLY setback I have is that it was so short… GIVE ME MORE! Can’t wait to see what she turns this series into!
Ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod!!
R. Scarlett has freaking nailed it with this new contemporary romance series!
I know she’s written paranormal and I’m not a huge fan of the genre, but when I read Filthy Gods and it has nothing to do with paranormal….now I want to read her paranormal books because HOT DAMN, she won my heart with this book.
Juliette Monroe comes from nothing, she worked really hard to get her scholarship to attend Yale and her focus is to succeed and become a lawyer. She is smart, sassy, witty and beautiful. But she doesn’t let her beauty define her, she’s in school to become somebody especially since she comes from nothing. Always jumping from foster home to foster home and knowing that there is never anyone to really love her and cherish her the way she should have been.
Nathaniel Radcliffe is a privileged boy but aside from his wealth, he has talent and he has the looks. He is a part of a secret group that back each other up no matter what. They keep all their secrets a secret and they are always there when they need each other. He is part of the Gods group (all delicious, rich and smart kids).
Juliette finds herself working at the resort that Nathaniel’s family owns, and she can’t believe she is face-to-face with this god and now she’s embarrassed that he will find out her “big” secret. Although Nathaniel already knows her secret, in order for him to keep it to himself, he has made a proposition to Juliette and it’s a proposition that she just can’t refuse!
This book, my god it had my full attention, it fascinated me to the fullest. I am so stoked about this series and can’t wait to read the rest of these filthy gods stories.
R. Scarlett, you are now on my top to go to read authors list!!
5 Star read!!
Nathaniel is sizzling fire in this tidbit of the American Gods series. I love that R. Scarlett writes strong females even if they are a little blind. 😉 I can’t wait to see where this story continues to grow.
What a great start and peek into the dark world of the American Gods!
Perfect introduction to the American Gods series. Juliette and Nathaniel’s story is a hot and tension filled enemies to lovers. This story is quick, but it still packs a powerful punch. I fell in love with the characters and their relationship pretty quickly. I also really like Juliette. She was strong and willing to do anything for her goals. In Filthy we get to spend a summer hot and heavy with the main couple, and we also get the American Gods popping in throughout the story. What more can you ask for in a prelude novella?
Can’t wait to see what the rest of the series has in store for us. Also is it too soon to call #teamGabe?
Seriously wow! This isn’t PNR like Rebecca Scarlett’s previous works. Contemporary romance/new adult is more like it. Nathaniel….omg I need more. This takes place at Yale and I just love the whole premise of the American Gods. These guys who are so rich, used to getting whatever they want. Juliette is not rich so you can probably see what type of story this is….but it’s so much more!! I can’t wait for the next 3 books, all standalones, featuring a different guy.
