Prelude in the American Gods series.Young. Wealthy. Elite. Attractive. The gentlemen’s secret society at Yale was filled with them. And Nathaniel Radcliffe, the bane of my existence, was one of them.As the right hand of the American Gods, he was conceited and arrogant. A dangerously handsome man in a tailored custom suit and shiny black oxford loafers. The classroom was our battlefield. We made a … classroom was our battlefield. We made a sport out of arguing and debating, ready to do anything in order to win over the other.
Deadly opponents, deadlier minds.
I’d sworn I’d never give him the upper hand, until…
The secret I’ve been hiding for the last three years?
He just discovered it… and now he has all the power.

Wicked, sinful, and ruthless–R. Scarlett will suck you into her intense, seductive world! The decadent and provocative romance is a treat meant to be savored, but you’ll devour it and be salivating for more! Filthy Gods is an immortal delight!
Yeah, this is how you do it!!!! What a perfect damn prequel to a series! R. Scarlett paints the background of their worlds AND fits what feels like a full length love story in one novella. I cannot even say how many times I’ve read a novella and felt like I just read a short story essay in a college class. I can’t even think how many times I’ve read a prequel and felt like the author wasn’t really giving me a separate intro but instead leaking the first five chapters that inevitably would be the first 5 chapters I’d skip when the actual book came out. But this? THIS read is a whole story encompassing the love affair of one couple amongst the backdrop of the American Gods’ world, full of nuance, character building, emotion and all the good stuff.
I adored Juliette and Nathaniel together. The dare, the challenge, the inexplicable pull. (I would take him any day of the week!). And I loved Juliette’s not backing down but being resilient and working to keep herself an equal. But… I’ve got to say I was majorly crushing on James, fascinated by Gabe and mystified by Arsen. To say this author set this series up to be an auto-click would be an understatement. I want more of this world and these boys – their secrets, their wants and their power. 5***** Stars all the way!
And bring on the others, I’m ready!
“I was a maid; he was the owner’s son. I was a poor girl; he was a god. He wasn’t mine. He would never be only mine.”
HOT D*MN! If this was a preview of what’s to come in this series…I am going to need many cold showers in the future. I just know I am going to die after reading the next books in this series.
FILTHY GODS was a deliciously filthy taste to the AMERICAN GODS series. This novella packed enough lust, want, need and romance in it to last you a lifetime. *fans self* Nathanial and Juliette’s story was the perfect foundation and set up for the rest of the series and it was utterly beautiful and downright yummy.
When it comes to novella’s, my greatest fear is they feel rushed and leave me feeling like I missed out on a deeper development of the storyline, but that is SO NOT the case with this book. FILTHY GODS lacks for absolutely NOTHING and left me craving for more of the American Gods (thankfully we’ll get Gabe, James’, Arsen’s books soon!), but yet, I was happy with how Nathaniel and Juliette’s story ended. Their story was perfection in it’s entirety and I was MORE THAN pleased with the pace and quality of this novella. This book was the complete romance package and I know every romance reader will DEVOUR and LOVE it as much as I did.
If you’re into arrogant, wealthy boys that take what they want when they want. This book is for you.
If you’re into dirty talking boys in suits, this book is for you.
If you’re into stories with secret societies and powerful people, this book is for you.
If you’re into HAWT encounters, this book is for you.
If you’re into swoon worthy moments, this book is for you.
Heck, I know this book is for you! Just preorder it now.
If Rebecca is new to you, give this book a chance! This is only my second book of hers and she’s definitely becoming my new obsession after reading this book. #GEMauthor #fangirl4life Now, I just need to finish her backlist of books and I can die a happy person LOL
“I fought him—thrust for thrust, kiss for kiss, nip for nip, and he met me each time, working each other to a pleasure so intense, I feared it would end us both.”
You will WANT this book when it comes out. Believe me! It’s COMPLETELY addictive and HOT AF! FILTHY GODS is an introduction to the series American Gods about powerful, corrupt men. FG takes place years before, when the characters are young, reckless and enjoying summer.
COMING May 15th!
“No woman has ever had such an intense effect on me.” His eyes lifted and sought mine, heated and dark and endless. “Just you, Juliette. And I want more of it.”

10 stars!
There’s a fine line between love and hate. Rebecca Scarlett’s Filthy Gods does a fine job of demonstrating it. Nathaniel Radcliffe is everything wealthy and privileged. Juliette Monroe is not, having to work hard for everything she earns. Their push and pull evident in the pages. I love the chemistry and the fight to ignore the undeniable attraction. Juliette is a strong, confident woman and that comes across easily in every description. Nathaniel is not what he seems and it’s enlightening. Even though this is only a short introduction to the American Gods series, it has depth and enticing characters that you want to learn more about. The writing is strong. Nathaniel and Juliette’s story may have been short but it was intelligent and sexy and leaves you wanting more of this cast of characters. I can’t wait for the next in the series, Rich Boys Don’t Have Hearts.
“Experto Crede” Stars
L – U – S – T !
Man, oh, man. Rebecca Scarlett, what have you done to me? Did Nathaniel seriously just replace Beau?
Hell to the yeah!
Experto crede— trust the expert, and let me tell you guys, Nathaniel Radcliffe is THE expert.
I lusted so hard after this man.
“Every inch of him was clothes in designer brands and family heirlooms, but he wore it with the confidence of a man well established in his career. He was only twenty-one and will all his advantages: wealth, family name, looks, and grades, he had it all in one powerful fist.”
Here is nothing more sexy than a powerful, confident, loyal, gorgeous man. And Nathaniel has that in spades.
Juliette and Nathaniel have spent their first three years at Yale in constant debates with or another. Always trying to beat each other with every “battle” they had. You can just imagine the sexual tension in these situations between two people that supposedly hated each other.
During the summer break, Juliette finds work at a resort owned by Nathaniel’s family to help pay for her school tuition and extra expenses. After running into Nathaniel while cleaning his room, embarrassed, he proposes a win-win solution that benefits them both. He promises to keep her secret from the rest of the university if she becomes his for the rest of the summer. He considers Juliette an itch he can’t scratch and wants to remedy, lol.
CUE SUMMER AFFAIR!!!!!
Juliette and Nathaniel… **le sigh**
R. Scarlett is an expert at sexual tension, explosive chemistry, and steamy scenes. It felt like reading about a cosmic boom whenever Nathaniel and Juliette got together. You will lust and love with these two characters immensely. Rebecca’s words will suck you in in such a way that you will go out into the world and search for your own filthy god… Did I mention how filthy Nathaniel is??? **moan**
“Would you fight me the whole way through if we f***ed? Even when I’m deep inside of your p***y, owning, possessing you? My c*ck swelling, leaking inside of you? Would you fight me for making you come even then?”
I won’t dive more into the story because I refuse to give anything else away *evil laugh*, but this was the PERFECT prelude for American Gods.
Yum, yum, yum. **wipes drool away**
I’m dying to read more about the powerful Gabe, the reckless James, and the dangerous Arsen.
Rebecca Scarlett definitely knows how to tease us, leaving us begging for more.
AMAZING WORK, Ms. Scarlett. A lusty, sexy, steamy, loving masterpiece. I can’t wait for the next installment.
P.S. Majorie, I’m ready for that rumble. Let do this, fellow Taurus. #CashMeOutside #MeetMeAtThePark #HesMine
Filthy Gods is a fantastic read with plot that leaves the reader wanting more. This book which starts off the American Gods series hints at the intriguing history of the main players and let me tell you, there is a lot of heat to come. The American Gods are the men who hold the next generation of power. They are from the best families, possess wealth, connections, good looks and intelligence. They dominate Yale like they will the world once they graduate.
R. Scarlett makes the jump from paranormal to contemporary romance seamlessly, bringing all of spark and heat for which she is known. Filthy Gods focuses on Nathaniel and Juliette and the battle that ranges between them inside and outside the bedroom. I loved how the author gave these characters such depth as the book developed and even though only a novella Nathaniel and Juliette had such a chance to tell their story.
I absolutely love the hints of where this series is going. The insights into the other American Gods left me wanting more. I can’t wait for Gabe’s story … but in the meantime definitely read Filthy Gods.
“No one else can have your body or your mind”
Hot, sexy, filthy, addictive. I absolutely loved this novella, it became my new obsession !!! (Three rereadings and I can not get enough). Captivating, intriguing, steamy, and the perfect introduction to the American Gods series.
OMG !!! You really need this story in your lives.
As a fan of the author’s PRN stories I could not wait to read her contemporary romance, but as always the author exceeded all my expectations and fell in love completely, R. Scarlett delivers a romance of enemies to lovers so captivating that I was hooked from the first page. Gahhhh! Just perfect.
In it we meet Juliette and Nathaniel, an intense, passionate couple, with an explosive and intense chemistry with great sexual tension, uffff, I loved each and every one of their dialogues, their scenes, I read and reread them several times, I loved them, Juliette is a strong and brave girl, who does everything she needs to achieve her goals. Nathaniel, uff, but what a sexy, sweet, loyal, dark and passionate character, you have to know him, you can not miss him, you will fall at his feet like me.
Also, throughout history we have glimpses of the American Gods, uffff, I need their books, I’m dying to read them all. Gabe, James and Arsen will be epic (#teamArsen, I can not wait to read this Russian god)
This is a must read for all, super recommended, fantastic, fast and sexy. And I can not wait to see what the author has stored for the following stories. If this novel became part of my top 5 of readings 2018, the author will end up ruining me with what is to come.
5 +++++++ stars.
AND….she nailed it! Filthy Gods was the perfect introduction to R. Scarlett’s new series American Gods. I was first introduced to Ms. Scarlett with her PNR series and I absolutely loved that. Now, she has knocked it out of the park with her entrance into the contemporary romance genre.
This was a quick read, it’s a novella but it did not feel like one at all. FG delivered on all levels and even though I would of course love to hear more about Nathanial and Juliette, I feel completely satisfied with their story. This was a great enemy to lover’s tale of two driven students who thrived on challenges, more importantly on challenging each other.
The tension and heat between Nathanial and Juliette was present on every level of their relationship. OMG it was fun to see them battle it out when discussing current events, to fighting their attraction to one another in the bedroom. I absolutely loved these characters. They may have come from diverse backgrounds, but they were more alike than they had ever realized. The progression of their relationship was honest and engaging. Ugh, I’m sad it’s over but I can’t say enough good things about their story. It was perfection and if you’re looking for a new author to explore, you’ve found one in R. Scarlett!
I cannot wait to meet the rest of the American Gods. We got a glimpse of each of them in this novella, but I can only imagine the fun we’re going to have when we meet them individually. This is one of my most anticipated series this year. If the rest of the Gods stories are anything close to Filthy Gods, which I’m confident they will be, we’re in for a real treat!
It was very emotional, refreshing and surprising story!
I think American Gods will be my long term favorite series. I already love Nathaniel and Juliette in Filthy Gods, even it’s just the beginning of the journey in the world of filthy, powerful and sexy rich god-boys.
This short but really intense story was about two people who’s becoming from different social worlds but aiming the same goal in their life. Juliette’s whole life was hard, she has to fight for everything she wanted. Nathaniel has everything you can dream of, but wanted one thing he couldn’t have- Juliette.
Will they find the same way in their life to be together?
I’ve been drown into this novella and couldn’t stop reading. I was cheering all the time to Nathaniel and Juliette to finally discover their feelings for each other. So many things was standing on their way. It was moving, heartbreaking and beautiful story.
Can’t wait for more in next book, Rich Boys Don’t Have Hearts.
Absolutely loved Filthy Gods! Nathaniel sure had me swooning with every turn of the page. He’s made my list of book boyfriends with his cool demeanour, intelligent mind, possessive demands and filthy ways! Loved the hot chemistry between Nathaniel and Juliette was hot! And that epilogue was so darn sweet!
I had the pleasure of reading Filthy Gods early and I absolutely love it!
It’s such a fantastic introduction to this new world and its characters. We get to see tiny glimpses of our American Gods, there is a lot of mystery behind them. But what we did learn was enough to keep me interested! Nathaniel and Juliette are the stars of this novella and I really liked them!! They’re rivals, enemies who go head to head in the class room. Their chemistry is insane, the tension comes pouring out of them and it really comes across. I loved how their relationship develops throughout the story. It’s a little sweet, a little angsty and a lot sexy!
Filthy Gods was pure filthy amazingness!!! One of the best surprises by a new to me author this year!! I’m dying for another book from this author!
Hot, sexy, powerful. That’s what the American Gods are and you can sense it in this book. The characters exude their power. They are the perfect bad boys. I love how Juliette made one fall to his knees. I want more of their stories, now!
What an awesome introduction to the American Gods! R Scarlett has a winner with this one, and has set the stage for another epic series. Her talent knows no bounds.
Dirty and delicious, Nathaniel is the right hand of the Gods. He’s rich and entitled, confident to the point of arrogance, and the bane of Juliette’s existence. Their academic rivalry at Yale has kept them on edge for the past three years. When an unexpected summer meeting throws Juliette into Nathaniel’s sights, he’s quick to take advantage of her less than ideal circumstances.
She’s feisty and intelligent, two things that Nathaniel can’t resist…and Juliette’s finding it hard to resist his proposition.
I loved the push and pull of their relationship. I loved how their story unfolded, how secrets were revealed along the way… This is an emotional angst-filled story, beautifully detailed, sexy in all the best ways. Kudos to R Scarlett for her incredible writing. This deserves 5+ stars!
A gorgeously HOT read from Rebecca Scarlett! She has dipped her toe into the NA genre and turned the water into gold!
With this quick read, we meet all of the Gods, but we get the main introduction to Nathaniel and Juliette. And what an introduction it is! There was so much fire and passion that I thought my Kindle would melt.
I loved the characters. I felt that all though the story was a novella, Nathaniel & Juliette both grew wonderfully. The rest of the Gods were so mysterious and memorable. I honestly can’t wait for the rest their stories.
There was laughter, anger, frustration, and a healthy dose of steam. Combine them all and you have the perfect recipe.
I need more!
I absolutely recommend this book!
{I received this as an ARC in exchange for an Honest review}
“Filthy Gods” was so perfect!! R. Scarlett can literally write in any genre and it will always come out amazing. Nathaniel and Juliette are so sexy!!! Their chemistry is off the charts!! They love to debate and that angst and fight makes them all the more hotter. When Nathaniel suggest a way for them to be “more focused” at school by screwing each other out of their systems Juliette agrees. He my be her enemy but he is too irresistible and maybe this is just what she needs to get Nathaniel out of her head.
“I swear I’m yours until the end of summer.”
They are both so determined and both fight for what they want. This was such a sexy and cute read! I love Nathaniel and Juliette so much!! Nathaniel is the bad boy in a suit! He loves to debate with her and make her tick. He is such a sexy and caring guy. The more we get to know about him as the book goes on the harder you fall for him. He is sweet and caring and also such an alpha male. I need my very own Nathaniel Radcliffe!!! Juliette is such an amazing character. She has worked her butt off to get into Yale and to stay at the top of her class. She doesn’t come from money like everyone else. She has to work to live. She is so strong and does not back down easily. She give Nathaniel a run for his money and I loved every minute of it!! She is such a likable character and I love her. Juliette and Nathaniel are such a good couple!! I absolutely love them and their story!! It was so sexy and so cute!!! This book has my heart!!
“Nathaniel was like a pressure point in my body. One look from him, one scalding hot glance, and my body reacted to him like oil and fire. We were combustible and a destructive force to both of us.”
I could NOT put this book down. Nathaniel and Juliette enchanted me. This may just be a novella but it was everything I could ever ask for if only it could have been a full novel!!! I would totally read other book about them just saying!! God I could read this book again and again. As soon as I finished I had the strongest urge to just pick it up and read it all over again. I can’t wait for the rest of the “American Gods” books!! Gabe, James and Arsen I’m coming for you!!! I can’t wait to see what these “gods” have in store for the loves of their lives!! This series is going to be phenomenal!! This first book was absolute perfection!!!
“You’re a god, Nathaniel Radcliffe,”…..”A filthy god.”
This novella is overhyped for sure. There is nothing wrong per se with the story but there is nothing original either.
I got a distinct Blair and Chuck vibe from the main characters only that the action is set in college not high school.
Nathaniel is rich, very smart, hot and part of a secret brotherhood. Juliette is a former foster kid, very smart and driven but poor.
They are the ultimate rivals at Yale. She is the maid in his exclusive country club during summer. They engage in a hot summer fling. His mother is evil. The end.
Being a novella, there is not much character development. I confess to skimming a lot of it.
In a nutshell, it’s a quick easy to read summer story to be forgotten after a week.
Filthy Gods:
“I love you, Juliette. And I choose you. I’ll always choose you.”
When the sinfully delectable Nathaniel Radcliffe approaches Juliette Monroe with an offer to be his for the summer, she should say no to her biggest rival. But how do you say no to an American God?
Quick and easy read with spice and sexual tension for days. I loved the fast pace of the story and how quickly it progressed, leaving little room for the normal angst that comes with a story like this.
Nathaniel is my kind of guy—and we all know I’m a sucker for the “man falls in love first” trope. The slight Christian Allister vibes I got from him just sealed the deal for me—obsessing over her since the first time he saw her, fighting with her just to get a reaction out of her, and even noticing what she did with her hair. I mean… sold.
The only thing I wished for was to see a little bit more of an emotional connection between them, but I know that’s hard with a shorter prequel book like this. Nathaniel’s transition from the bastard to the soft man seemed to also happen in the blink of an eye—would have loved to see a little more here.
But can we talk about Gabe? I’m so intrigued by him and cannot wait to get my hands on his book! Loved this read!
” .”
Nathaniel Radcliffe and Juliette Monroe are both competing for the top of their class at Yale Law. Nathanial is rich, smug, and confident. One of four, American Gods. An elite group of boys that run things.
Juliette is smart, driven, and focused. She works as a maid for Hawthorne Country Club – which then finds out it’s owned by the Radcliffe family. She’s riding on a scholarship and needs this job, and she needs Nathaniel to keep her secret of her working there. No one must know that she comes from no money; she wants to be seen as equal to her peers. So to keep her secret, he makes her a deal – a summer affair. She’s his for the summer, then they break.

I’ve had this one on my shelves for far too long, and went in wanting a quick read (it being novella size) and now wish I hadn’t finished so quickly. I could NOT PUT IT DOWN. Filthy Gods was addictively sexy.
R. Scarlett has left me wanting MORE – more of Nathaniel & Juliette, and more of this world.
” .”
” , .”
: new adult, “hate” to love, rich hero/poor heroine, low angst and steam
I heard a lot about this world and all I can say is that it was worth the hype!! The world the author created is quite unique, different to the usual NA books.
Despite being quite short, I adored Nathaniel and Juliette’s story. The chemistry they have is insane, but still I wish it was a bit longer to see their love story develop.
I’m also curious about the boys!! I’m glad the author decided to continue the series and can’t wait to have full length novelas of each one of them.
Overall, aside being a short quick read, I highly recommend it!!
