He looks like he belongs on stage, stripping out of his firefighter uniform, not running into a burning building to save me. But thank God he did. When the smoke clears and my eyes focus on my savior, one look at his gorgeous face and tattoo-covered muscles, I know he’ll be too much for me to handle. It’s a good thing I never have to see him again, right? Except, losing my home to a fire means … fire means finding somewhere new to live, and guess who just happens to be my new roommate? Hayden Flynn. The filthy-talking firefighter who’s been front and center of all of my dreams lately.
Our attraction is undeniable, but it’s the adventures he takes me on that has me falling for him, each new experience chipping away at the wall I’ve been hiding behind.
He wasn’t supposed to see past my scars.
He wasn’t supposed to break me apart piece by piece, then put me back together again.
He was just supposed to be a firefighter. I didn’t expect him to end up saving my life, in more ways than one.

GAH, I really wish this story was longer! The ending came at me too quickly! *cries* To me, the best feature of the story is the slow burn journey. Hayden has a lot to chip away at with Adele but he is persistent, and patient and it pays off! The close proximity trope to this story was a perfect choice for this book. Very low on the angst but not emotion. Adele’s insecurities made my heart heavy at times and Hayden made my heart soar all the time!! Again, another new-to-me author that did not disappoint overall!
Excellent addition to the Cocky Hero Universe AND Cocky Bastard World!!
Filthy Firefighter is a part of the Cocky Hero cub Universe and a spin off of Cocky Bastard I believe. I haven’t read the book it is loosely connected to, and I had no problem in reading it as a standalone. Filthy Firefighter is centred around Hayden the Hero – a fireman that is called out to a house fire and rescues Adele the heroine. After the events of the fire neither characters can get the other out of their minds and Adele is in need of a new apartment. Her friend hooks her up with a rental she cannot refuse only to discover her new flatmate is Hayden, and it’s a great meet cute moment.
Adele is a likeable heroine, she has sass and she has overcome a lot of demons to get where she is in her life and I admire that. Hayden oh Hayden, he is the perfect Hero for this story. He is a fireman, but a man with charm, a sense of humour and a man with honour. I know Hayden from Emma’s Flawed Love series, and I was so glad to see he was getting his own story. This book was full of banter and a strong sense of family, and it was a easy read romance that just hits that sweet spot. With some angst thrown into the mix as what romance is complete without some bumps in the road and a Pigmy goat thrown into the mix.
I fell in love with the characters and the story, I finished it the same day I started it.
A must read.
Filthy Firefighter was so good loved everything and moment about this story! Absolutely loved Adele and Hayden’s journey both there for one another! Perfect ending! I’m so enjoying these Cocky Hero Club stories!
He looks like he belongs on stage, stripping out of his firefighter uniform, not running into a burning building to save me. But thank God he did. I really liked this book it was such a sweet romance, the story line was simple with some angst, the characters were very lovable and the sex was hot, the only problem that I had was that it finished so abruptly when there was so much more to go on. All over this was a very enjoyable sweet read.
Wow this book was recommended to be read in one on my readers groups and it did not disappoint. Adele starts the book with who she thinks is the man of her dreams or at least the dreams of the person she has created herself to be. She finds herself coming face to face with reality only to realize that maybe this is really not what she wants. When she meets Hayden in the beginning he is just a blip in the radar and you are fighting the pages of tour kindle for them to finally get it together. When fate finally steps in then the real fun begins. This book has a back and forth that is so well written from both points of view and the immediate reaction is to stop I think during the “back story” phase of the beginning but this cat and mouse game is totally worth it. Adele is still learning to live life and Hayden is learning to fight for the life he always wanted deep down. The ending almost made me throw my kindle but the epilogue made it all better now I just need to know when I will get Parker and/or Janey’s story and everyone will be fine. I have no idea how I have never read this author before but I won’t make that mistake again.
Beautiful story of forgiveness and redemption, but also steaming hot. And who doesn’t love firefighters!! Hayden is cocky but with a heart of gold while Adele is fighting darkness from her past. I liked the layers of Adele and how she comes out of her shell. Hayden is more than the golden boy and it offers a very realistic love story in the end. The other characters bring fun and heartwarming scenes too. A great read!
I really enjoyed this book.
Hayden and Adele meet in a scary situation. He looked like a sexy hero out of her dreams. However, they never exchanged names and thought that was that. Little did they know, they would meet again.
My heart broke for Adele. She was trying so hard to right her past that she was loosing herself in the process. She was also missing out on some amazing things like friends and fun.
Hayden is a firefighter that is completely enamored with Adele and vows to break through her self and help her find herself again.
4.5 stars
I have been struggling to find my reading mojo lately, and Filthy Firefighter is exactly what I needed to break out of the funk! Hayden is everything that makes me swoon: funny, charming, flirty, sexy as hell with those tats and blond surfer good looks- not to mention a Southern accent-all wrapped around a wonderful heart and filthy mouth.
Adele has had a rough life since moving to the States, and she is mired down by the guilt of her past actions and choices. Everything she has done in the past few years has been with the mindset of doing what she thinks will make her brother’s life easier or what a respectable person would do in order to follow a safe path. She keeps everyone at arms length at work and chooses a gorgeous man as her boyfriend who is safe but doesn’t make her feel in danger of losing control. When he casually mentions proposing, her ensuing panic and sense of dread cause her to finally take a chance on stepping away from the safe zone to find a different path in life.
As soon as she meets Hayden for the first time, she knows she is going to fail miserably in her attempts to avoid lowering her walls or losing her heart to this man. He is determined to help her break out of her shell, and with every challenge she rises to, he finds himself falling just a little bit more as well. They have more in common than they realize, but his slow and steady pursuit along with his ability to read her like no other eventually wins Adele over. Once she finally gets over her fear of losing his respect by revealing her past to him, she panics and tries to push him away. Fortunately he doesn’t intend to let her go so easily, but by the time she pulls her head out of her butt and pulls up her big girl panties, it may just be too late as life throws them a curveball.
I loved seeing Chance, Aubrey and Pixy the goat again as we get a glimpse into their current life after their HEA. New characters introduced like Janey and Parker (or maybe Preston, not sure if they were the same person who experienced a name change or 2 different people) were great secondary characters, and I need to go back to find out if Hayden’s friend Duke has a story of his own in the author’s prior books. The only minor detraction points for me were mostly editing/ timeline issues (the changing name I just mentioned, the timeline laid out for the epilogue, no mention at all of the event that happened at end of the last chapter prior to the epilogue, etc.) All in all, this book was just what my heart needed right now and I am sitting here with a goofy smile on my face as I am typing this reliving all the wonderful moments!
First book by Emma Louise and it was smokin hot and loaded with so many emotional feels. She is definitely on my 1-Click List from now on. Hayden has just the right amount of cockiness along with hotness, sweetness and some emotional upsets in the past. I love how he meets Adele and how they form a relationship. She has been through the wringer and he shows so much compassion towards her. I just fall more in love with this couple the more I read about them. This story will take you on a ride. And the ending, the best. 5 Blazing Stars!!!
A great addition to this already fun series, this is a slow burn that quickly reeled me in; the initial meet wasn’t so much a meet cute given the reason why Hayden and Adele actually met, but the second time they meet is under more favorable circumstances. I liked the chemistry between them, and while the ending was a bit over the top, it still worked for the overall story.
This was a smoking hot slow burn, that will have you fanning yourself from the very beginning. It has a very power message to make sure you live your life to the fullest and enjoy every moment! This book with definitely stay with me for a long time to come.

Adele and Hayden’s story was slow and steamy, a hot fight fighter and the girl whose house caught on fire. This book was fun to read but read fast more like a novella.
This is about so much more than a HOT, Filthy Firefighter, it’s an emotion filled story of guilt, regret, love and forgiveness with some good old romance thrown in for good measure.
Adele plays it safe in life, never taking any unnecessary chances, she even breaks up with her “safe” boyfriend as the thought of marrying him sends her into a panic. It’s one decision which changes the course of her life
ultimately bringing Hayden the sexiest firefighter into it in more ways than one.
Hayden can’t quite put his finger on the reason why Adele makes him feel the way she does, but he knows that she’s the one for him and he’s determined to win her heart.
Emma Louise does an amazing job of hooking us readers in, and from the very start this story was no different. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down and finished the book in one evening. From me it’s a fantastic five stars for this Filthy Firefighter.
I love a good firefighter…book. And this did not disappoint. Neither did Hayden and his cocky hotness. I was hooked from beginning to end and my only complaint is that it ended too soon. Adele lost everything and her new roommate is the star of her dreams. Their chemistry is off the charts!
Emma Louise is a new author for me. I was not disappointed, I adored this story. This was a beautifully captivating and sweet journey to go on with Adele and Hayden.
Ahh- this book. Hayden is all the book boyfriend you need. Adele needs someone to believe in her and not only does she find Hayden, she finds true friends. Their story is beautiful, tragic, steamy, and ends with all the feels. I love that Emma added to The Cocky Bastards story. Seeing a bit more Chance & Aubrey was amazing.
Adele:
There’s a gentleness to his touch tonight. It’s different. There’s none of the usual filthy talk. It’s just us. Eyes locked on one another. Hayden holds me close, and something in me cracks. The last of the walls I’ve subconsciously built crumble. I’m terrified of what that means for us, but I’m here. I’m in this moment with him, and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.
Filthy Firefighter by Emma Louise is part of the Cocky Hero Club. I was first drawn to this book by the cover. I mean, just look at it! But when I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. I fell in love with these two.
First, I want to tell you about Hayden Flynn. He is a confident, tatted up, dirty talking fire fighter. Hayden is a southern boy. I have a weakness with a particular endearment, one that makes me swoon every single time. And the icing on the cake with this book is that Hayden uses it. He says “darlin’!!!” Oh my gosh! He had my butterflies in full flight. Hayden works crazy hours and has never had time for a relationship. Never felt any need for anything more than hook ups. But then they got the call for a fire with a woman inside. All he had to do was look into those eyes and he was gone.
Adele Bateman is twenty eight years old and works as an accountant. A safe, secure job for her safe, secure life. Adele has a dark past, a past that has affected so many people she cares about. A past she will never forgive herself for. Adele has walls upon walls built up around her for protection. But the night of the fire, when the firefighter carried her out, there was a connection. She couldn’t look away.
For weeks both Adele and Hayden continued on with their lives, both reliving those moments over and over again. But then fate brought them together again as surprise roommates! Adele did what she did best, stayed hidden, kept her walls up. But Hayden was so intuitive. He just saw her somehow. He seemed to know how to draw her out, how to get her to smile, how to get her to relax. But Adele knows that she can never be good enough for this wonderful man. If he knew, he would most definitely walk away.
“I’ve never wanted anyone like I want her. I want every part of her to be mine.”
I loved everything about this. It was a pretty quick read. Or, I just couldn’t put it down because I read it in one day. I loved the effect Adele and Hayden had on each other. And that epilogue! The best! This is a sexy, steamy, sweet book that I am so glad I decided to read. It is my first Emma Louise book but most definitely won’t be my last.
“Adele is everything I never knew I wanted.”
Filthy is right.
I enjoyed this quick read about a sexy AF firefighter and the beautiful Adele Bateman. She is the sister of Chance from Cocky Bastard. Remember him? I sure do – I loved him. And we get to see Aubrey and him in this story quite a bit. I was very happy about that.
What else I was happy about, was one Hayden Flynn…southern man who says darlin’ just the right amount of times, who has muscles and tattoos galore, is a brave firefighter, and has a delicious dirty mouth.
Adele finds herself needing to be rescued from a burning house. Enter Hayden. He bravely busts through the door, grabs her, and gets her to safety. When she opens her eyes and sees her savior, even under the circumstances, there’s no denying the instant attraction between them.
No names or numbers were exchanged, because they’ll never see each other again after this, right?
Wrong.
Imagine the shock and surprise from both of them when they do meet again. And that was quite the meeting, I must say. *waggling my eyebrows*
I loved their chemistry, the sexual tension was thick. Their witty banter was adorable and fun and made me like these two that much more.
I really, really wish there would’ve been more between chapter 24 and the epilogue. I loved the epilogue, but I wanted & needed more after chapter 24. That being said, I still enjoyed this story.
Filthy Firefighter is a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club world. It gave me smiles, laughs, and tingles. This was my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more!
*I listened to the first half of this on audio, which was great – the narrators were perfect.
