From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Ilsa Madden-Mills comes a new full-length STANDALONE novel about HOT British alphas.
A smokin’ hot British player…
A jilted girl…
One night of mistaken identity…
Two weeks before her wedding, Remi Montague’s fiancé drops her faster than a drunken sorority girl in stilettos. Armed with her best friend and a bottle of tequila, she hops a plane to … she hops a plane to London to drown her sorrows before fall semester begins at Whitman University.
She didn’t plan on attending a masquerade party. She sure didn’t plan on waking up next to the British bad boy who broke her heart three years ago–the devastatingly handsome and naked Dax Blay. Furthermore, she has no clue how they acquired matching tattoos.
Once back at Whitman together, they endeavor to pretend they never had their night of unbridled passion in London.
But that’s damn hard to do when you live in the same house…
One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.

Love this book and the Characters! I wish there was more!
I didn’t enjoy this one as much as Dirty English, but I was still really into the story. I’m not even the target audience for new adult novels, but it was great. But I enjoyed the characters and the romance, so that was great!
I was hooked through this whole story. They had strong sexual chemistry. And their back a forth was a little annoying. But hardly a lot of relationship things. Yet I couldn’t put it down. Great book.
“The thing is, Dax is a temporary guy and I’m a forever girl, and the two didn’t go together. Ever.”
After inhaling his brother Declan’s story in book 1, I dove right in to Dax who is spending the Summer with his cousin Spider (Book 3) in London and one steamy moment in a masquerade night club leads to a surprise he hadn’t expected and the second Bey brother tangles with his match for the second time. My heart wanted them, but they just kept fighting both in London and then back home, and I just wanted to scream and knock their heads together. It was a bumpy ride filled with misunderstandings, assumptions, and judgement, but it was well worth the journey!!
“She was my light, my breath. She was my Juliet. Only we’d have a happy ending. I’d make sure of it.”
I felt bad for Remi at first. She was dumped two weeks before her wedding by a fiance who got cold feet. Then, she saw him on social media with another woman. She took her “honeymoon” vacation with her best friend because she not only needed to get away after the disappointment, but she also had this trip she couldn’t get a refund for. When Dax comes along, it’s as if the fates have finally changed their minds and decided to give them a second chance at real love. Of course, there are a few drunken and probably regretable moments in the mix.
But she’s so broken, and he’s so unsure that there’s no way they can let this become more than a quick one-and-done. Still, the connection they felt when they first got together during her freshman year in college is begging to be reignited. It might have worked out in their favor had her ex not shown up at the most opportune time.
The conflict continues as she becomes Dax’s roommate and the indecisive ex wants her back.
I didn’t like the way Remi so easily took her ex back, but I understood. Sometimes it’s easier to fall back into the relationship you know than take a chance on the one you don’t. Dax also has a reputation that isn’t easily pushed aside. This was a tough one to navigate because of the back-and-forth and the inability for these kids to make up their minds. But learning their backgrounds was helpful, and the ending was exactly the way I wanted it to be. Overall, it was an exciting read, and I look forward to the next one in the series.
Second chance romances grip me so tight. Love everything about this story.
The audiobook was bliss to my ears. Wonderful job on the narrators!
This was a good addition to this series (if this is just a duology then a great ending) It’s a Romeo and Juliet retelling. And a good one at that.
Another one I find myself disappointed in. I found myself skimming thru it to get to the end. I couldn’t connect with Dax or Remi – I found them both to be annoying with the push/pull that they had going on. I just couldn’t with this one and don’t see myself finishing this series.
Holy hot these men are delicious. Can’t decide if I love Dax or his brother Declan (Dirty English #1) more. These guys will make you have to take a cold shower after reading these books. Another great book by Ilsa.
WARNING- DANGER AHEAD. Caution to those who suffer from a heart condition, are prone to fainting/ turning into a pile of goo at the site of a wicked sexy brit, or suffer from sudden outbursts of severe fangirling. Filthy English should be approached with caution Ha! Just kidding. Throw caution to the wind and fall hard for Dax Blay just as I did. Not to be missed for anything. I mean it! Stop what you are doing and buy this book, clear your schedule, cancel all of your plans, call in sick to work, find a comfy chair, sit your butt in that chair and settle in for a few hours of pure entertainment. Once you pick Filthy English up it is impossible to set back down. Physically it becomes impossible to part with Dex and Remi. I swear the book was glued to my hand with some seriously strong gorilla magic glue that only let go when the percentage at the bottom said 100%.
Now I had some crazy high expectations for this standalone sequel to Dirty English. Which took my heart over, I was head over heels for the first book cementing my love for the Blay twins. Didn’t hurt that the underlying theme was Pride and Prejudice (All-time favorite story). Went off on a tangent there sorry, learning that Dirty English would take on the Classic Romeo and Juliet was intrigued. Never one to get caught up in the work of Shakespeare I still looked forward to the modern twist and take. Well long story short… She rocked it out of the park!
Honestly, I cannot gush enough about how much I adored this book. From start to finish I was invested in everything single word, not a character was minor in my mind. I loved them all. So much more than boy meets girl with this story, the emotions weaved through the words hold true through-out. I laughed out loud during some scenes. I cried during others. Almost threw it across the room a couple of times and hugged it close just as many. I don’t want to say I formed an obsessive love for this story… not sure obsessive is strong enough. I adored how each detail came to light at just the right time to make you feel it deep in your bones. Dax Blay is screaming to be your next book boyfriend; your library isn’t complete without this Sexy Brit talking your ear off while the Sassy Remi makes you laugh with her… well everything. Dax and Remi have exactly what you are looking for even if you didn’t know you were looking.
These two are so broken deep inside, both knowing personally what it really means to know loss which in the end is what makes them work so perfect. Their imperfections have left them scarred and wary. Their love should not come easy, it should be a struggle, and they should have to fight to have what they do. The struggle, the fight to make it work, fighting everything that is against them, the effort needed for both of them at all times is beautiful to read. Overall this is a must read. That’s all. If nothing else understands that Filthy should not be passed up for any reason. Dax and Remi need to share their story with you, they need to, and you need to experience it for yourself so you can understand this long fan girl review.
Declan and Dax may be twins… but my love for them is NOT equal. I have to say, Dax is my favorite and I’m super jealous of Remi right now.
Who doesn’t love the epic story of Romeo and Juliet? It has always been a fave of mine and Ilsa Madden-Mills delivers a totally new and completely fresh take on such a historic romance. I’ve read my fair share of modern fairty tales and this one is up there in my favorites list.
When I met Dax in Dirty English, I saw him like everyone else did. The player that made his rounds the campus and enjoyed the advantages his sex appeal provided. Girls can’t resist a sexy guy with a British accent. I know I can’t. But while reading his story in Filthy English, I saw so much more to Dax Blay and I fell so much deeper in love with him than I did with badass, sexy MMA fighter, Declan. There was so much depth to his emotional cavern that I felt my heart hurt when his hurt. He had so many feelings buried so deep within and keeping his distance from real emotional connection was his only way to deal.
Remi had a similar coping mechanism for dealing with her past loss and together they were quite a mess. But they were such a BEAUTIFUL mess; which made Filthy English practically poetic.
Funny and emotional, this book had everything I could have wanted in a great read.
KU. It was a decent start and a good finish ~ but most of the middle was a serious case of repeated whiplash. Dax & Remi had a short fling several years ago, he broke her heart by not being the commitment type. (Though there’s no indicator he led her on in any way.) Fast forward 3 years and Remi has been dumped by her fiancé 2 weeks before the wedding and decides to spend her “honeymoon” with her best friend and she meets up with Dax again. There are just way too many arguments and hurt feelings that could have been solved with simple conversations. Remi cannot seem to make up her mind and is constantly flopping back & forth between wanting Dax and going back to Hartford.
Spoiler-ish: I feel like what Remi & Dax do several times *IS* cheating. Remi is supposedly trying to work things out with Hartford. She’s wearing his engagement ring again. However she & Dax flirt, cuddle, kiss, and he even gets her off in a bar bathroom. It may not be PIV sex, but this is not just emotional cheating. And after each “interlude” she seems to regret it and steels herself to go back to Hartford.
I almost DNFd a few times, but a few reviewers said the ending was good and I’ve enjoyed other Ilsa Madden-Mills books, so I stuck with it. I can’t really say I’m happy I did. The cheating really left me with an icky feeling about the book overall.
I liked Dirty English (book 1), but I can’t really say whether I’m up for Spider’s book yet…
I’m on an Ilsa binge. I knew that I would love Dax from reading Dirty English, but I didn’t realize how much I would love him. I did have some issues with Remi at times though, but I think the duel POV made it worse because you could feel what they both were feeling and you wanted them to just TALK about their feelings and deal with miscommunications and stop hurting each other! It was more angst than I was expecting and it even jerked my tears a bit and pulled my heart. I loved this book. I can’t wait to continue my binge.
Ilsa Madden-Mills did it again. She wrote an NA romance that is a #MustRead. And trust me, for me, those are very few and far in between. I’m not a real fan on this age group (on paper only of course lol) because their decision making mostly just irritates me. That’s the best way I can put it. And so the story is ruined but characterization that is actually true to their age, I just can’t deal. So I try and stay away from such reads. But every once in a while, I jump and take a chance. So here we are ……. and once again … I’m impressed!
Dax and Remi have history. Not a long one, but history just the same. And not a happy one either … but oh so sexy 🙂 And this is their second chance to get it right. They both have baggage and their both skittish, and communication is not always at it’s best, but they ultimately dredge thru it in a really well played story-line.
There are a lot of #feels going on in this story and you WILL be frustrated some times at both Dax and Remi, but in the end, your heart will sing for both of them. There’s a captivating vibe to this story that will have you laughing out loud one moment and ugly crying the next. Ilsa does have a way with words!
So pick this book up because no matter how old these two are … there are lessons in their story we could all relate to #TRUST
So many feelings in this book. This couple definitely gives Fate a run for her money. Will they or won’t they become a couple, or are they destined to remain “just friends”. And then add in a surprise coupling. I’m thinking the next book is going to be Amaze-balls!! My favorite lines are: “The thing is, Dax is a temporary guy and I’m a forever girl, and the two didn’t go together. Ever.” & “He’s going to be your ruin, my head said.” (This is from Remi, the everything has to be planned out girl, talking to herself.)
I read Dirty English a couple years ago and I didn’t think I could love a Blay brother more than Declan, but man oh man Dax swooped in! I knew I would like him because of the brief introduction to him in book 1, but he was incredible! He’s super cocky though he really does have the goods to back it up! And Remi is the beautiful nerdy girl he falls hard for and she definitely gives him a run for his money, and brings his ego down a few pegs. The chemistry, tension, fun banter, and ups and downs make this one a delightful college romance! You can’t go wrong reading it! 5 hot stars for Filthy English!
This is the second book in the British Bad Boys series, and my goodness Isla did not disappoint! Dax the player, and his one who got away. The one who gets away again.. until she answers an ad for a roommate. This book has delicious scenes in a masquerade club, plenty of angst, wonderfully developed characters, and a will they/won’t they that has you wanting to chant for them to just get together already!
I wasn’t sure about Dax in the first book, he seemed like a bit of an idiot is I’m honest. But as I’d loved the first book so much I decided to give it a try. Ohhhhh I’m so glad that I did, I loved it! There is so much more to Dax than I ever thought, though I guess that is the point. I loved watching him, learning about him and finding out what happened. I love the way the author writes these beautifully broken characters. I feel like I’m there with them, cheering them on and mentally shouting at them. I am so taken by this series I have to read the next book.
Filthy English
At the beginning of this book, we meet Remi. She has traveled to London to enjoy her honeymoon…alone. Then she sees a man who is “hotter than a billy goat with a blow torch” and wonders if he can be her rebound. After their first kiss, they realize that they know each other and that they’ve been down this road before, and it didn’t end well. Fate, being the fickle witch that she is, keeps throwing Dax & Remi together. Maybe they’ll get it right?
This was my first read from this author and I loved it from beginning until end. the connection that Dax and Remi had was just undeniable and you could feel it when reading. That’s what makes a book even more enjoyable. It certainly was HOT! When you love someone so deeply and cannot get them out of your head, it could really be the start of something good. you just have to take a leap of faith sometimes…
