One night is never enough… toe.
ER nurse Daniela England has lost so much that she’s vowed never to need anyone again. Fight club helps her beat back her survivor’s guilt, but it means dealing with Riddick. The hot-but-infuriating firefighter is everything she wants to avoid, which is why their one-night stand was a mistake. Now she needs to keep her distance so it doesn’t happen again.
But when Dani witnesses Sean’s motorcycle accident, she steps up to help him recover. One on one, they get beneath all the snark and find a connection neither expected. As Sean heals, the sparks between them burst into red-hot passion—and ignite old wounds. Now there are fires all around—and they have to decide which they’ll fight and which they’ll let consume them.

This is the third book in the Warrior Fight Club series. They are stand alones. It’s been awhile since I have read the first two, so my memory is hazy on them. but, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything while reading this story.
Sean is prior Navy and he is a firefighter. He does have some demons from being active duty. WFC and his job helps though. But when a bad accident happens and he has to take a break from both, the self doubt and guilt comes back.
Dani was a medevac nurse in the Army. Now she’s an ER nurse. She has lost a lot. She’s a badass though.
Who would have thought Deadpool would bring these two together.
They are both awesome people. They help each other heal.
This is a great read.
After a long wait for this one, I was so excited to finally hold it in my hands!! It’s hard for us readers to be patient sometimes. But the wait was TOTALLY WORTH IT for this one!! I loved every second of this couple. Highly recommend this entire series!!
I liked this one and I really liked the movie marvel inserts. I look forward to more from Laura, even though this is the end of the series.
Fighting the Fire is just Fantastic! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
We all have been waiting on this one for a while and this was 100% worth the wait for the story. Daniela and Sean’s story has been building up through the entire series and IT WAS FANTASTIC!! I am sad to say that I’m sorry to see the series end but looking forward to many more stories from Laura Kaye.
5 Fiery Stars!
I loved Sean and Dani..these two have a combustible relationship..they fight back and forth. When Sean is hit. Dani is there to help him recover and finds a love for his Marvel movies. As Sean heals Dani realizes she really likes him. Sean mistakenly opens something important to Dani and she flips out. Once she realizes she made a mistake she goes to tell Sean how much she cares…..Great Read!
3.5-4 stars. Fighting the Fire is book three in the Warrior Fight Club series. We finally get Sean and Daniella’s story. In previous books, we had a glimpse at their bickering way of flirting during fight club together. In this book, we learn the history behind their characters. Daniela is a nurse and was in the military. Her husband was also in the miitary and he died in combat. She carries so much guilt over the circumstances surrounding his death and has not fully healed from that loss. Sean is a former miltary man turned firefighter. He also has some demons in the past, but covers them with his jokey, fun time guy personality. The two of them have had chemistry and an unnamed connection for awhile, but she feels guilty for it and he is not the relationship type so he doesn’t push it. But when Sean is in a motorcycle accident, Daniela steps up to help take care of him. As they spend time together, they start to realize they are both still deserving of love and they could have a future together.
This was a good story. I liked Sean and Daniela as characters and together as a couple. I did feel like they liked each other a lot by the end, but I wasn’t sure I felt love between them just yet. I did think they had great potential to fall in love and be together forever, though. I was really happy that they were able to overcome their emotional issues and find their HEA with each other. They both deserved to be happy and to have a lighter, brighter future.
Overall, this was an enjoyable and emotional read. Both Sean and Daniela has some pretty heavy issues to overcome and I was happy they came out of that journey on the other side, happy together. I enjoy this series and I hope this is not the end of it. I look forward to more from Ms. Kaye in the future!
Dani’s story is here! If you’re a fan of this series like I am, you will be waiting for Dani’s story and it is here. I couldn’t wait to dive in and Fighting the Fire wasn’t like anything I was expecting. Dani & Sean had chemistry from the word go. The book didn’t waste anytime getting them together. Although it was in an unexpected way. I was glad to see how Dani & Sean worked their way through the barely acquaintances into hey we really like each other. Of course there were the struggles that make you reach for the tissues. Fighting the Fire was definitely worth it!
4 stars – It was really good
Firefighter Sean Riddick keeps the demons at bay by working constantly and going to Warrior Fight Club, even if it means dealing with Daniela England. She drives him nuts but he can’t forget how good they are together. When he gets injured, Daniela steps in to help him and they find they have more in common than they thought.
I have been eagerly waiting for this book since 2018, and it did not disappoint. Laura Kaye always does an amazing job at writing emotionally powerful stories with wonderful characters. Daniela and Sean have been frenemies since they met but after one night with too much alcohol leads to a one night stand, everything changes. As you can imagine, both of them are determined to keep their walls up but that doesn’t work after Sean’s accident.
Both of them have experienced loss and deprivation throughout their lives and have learned to cope in different ways. Daniela is determined to live but refuses to open her heart to love again. The more time she spends with Sean though, the more she realizes that she hasn’t really been living since her husband’s death. Her grief was so powerful and heartbreaking that I just wanted to reach through the book to hug her. Sean uses self-deprecating humor constantly because his life has taught him that he isn’t worthy. It was heartbreaking to see him constantly put himself down, especially after you learn why he believes he isn’t worthy. Daniela and Sean both have a lot of barriers but together they learned to lean on each other and healed from their pasts.
As you can tell, I really enjoyed everything about this book. Another great thing about this series is just the comadere between all the members of the WFC. They are family and you could really see it in this one when they all rushed to take care of Sean and be there for him during his recovery. I just love that we get to see how the previous couples, and other members, lives have changed or will be changing in the future. I can’t wait for the next book, which I hope is Mo’s because I really want him to fall in love.
Trigger Warnings:
– Daniela’s husband died six years ago and she is still grieving.
– Motorcycle accident, on page
– Parental death mentioned
– Parental verbal abuse mentioned
This is the third full length novel in the series but can easily be read as a standalone. Cheers to Laura |Kaye for her fight to get back to sharing her stories with us. Are you ready for fun flirty banter with a side of stinging emotions and guilt? These characters grow so much throughout this book, learning that they are not the to blame for a past that was out of their control. They are not worth less because of the tragedies they have encountered.
Dani England is a widowed ex military who works as a nurse in the local hospital. She still struggles with the loss of her husband and has since kept people at arms length. Over the years she has dealt with many losses and keeps the number of people important to her at a minimum hoping to keep the pain at a minimum. Witnessing fellow Warrior Fight Club member and friend be part of an accident, she jumps into full healer mode and spends time helping him. She wasn’t prepared for the feeling that start to develop when spending extra time with him.
Sean Riddick is not stranger to the losses and guilt felt from losing fellow soldiers, friends and brothers. He carries around a heavy guilt for his actions on that horrible day. But it doesn’t stop him from being the best firefighter he can be still today. Idle time is hard for him to keep out of his head so he keeps himself busy taking extra shifts and covering for many when they need time off. When an accident finds him stuck at home and unable to use his normal outlets, he is worried. But when he realized that Dani has self appointed herself as his helper and will be spending more time with her he can’t say he minds. Who wouldn’t want to spend time with a beautiful woman? If is he was being honest with himself he would like to test the waters that were warmed with a one night stand many months ago.
Could this be a healing for both Sean and Dani. Helping them open up and share more of themselves. A start to what could be something what is worth fighting for?

Emotional, sexy, and deeply heartfelt. Laura Kaye writes her characters with care. I was invested in Sean and Daniela from page one and couldn’t stop reading until they were HEA!
Fighting The Fire by Laura Kaye is book three in the Warrior Fight Club and Is Sean and Daniela’s book. These two are my second d favorite couple from this series. There was just something about their book that made me love it a lot. If you are just starting out reading this author, I can’t recommend a better series to start with.
In the final novel of her Warrior Fight Club series, Laura Kaye has struck gold again.
Returning to the the world where former military men and women who may suffer from PTSD, they find comrades with each other in Warrior Fight Club.
The latest book follows Daniela and Sean, who had a brief encounter but then went on to have a frienemies type relationship. When Daniela, an ER nurse, witnesses Sean, whom is a firefighter, getting into an accident she goes on to help Sean recover and along the way she finds out there is so much to the guy she had so many assumptions about and Sean knows there’s sparks between the two of them but Daniela has her own demons that she must conquer before she can even consider any type of future with someone.
This book is great in the realistic aspects that are discussed by our military and the effects and traumas they face returning home to civilian life, and combining it into a romantic story in which these people, whom may think themselves beyond love or too damaged, find their happily ever after.
I enjoyed this book especially after waiting so long for it. Daniela and Sean were such great Frenemies and they had everyone fooled into thinking they couldn’t stand to be around each other. Though it all comes out because Sean gets hurt and Dani is there to take care of him. Sean was such an irreverent character with so many layers and Dani also had layers that people didn’t see. And the Deadpool quotes were spot on.

“He routinely struggled between wanting to take that smart mouth down a notch or two or kiss the sarcasm out of her. For starters.”
There is no doubt that Daniela and Sean have a LOT of tension. Their one night stand months ago has definitely kicked that tension up.
When Sean is involved in a terrible accident, Daniela is there to help him recover. Now that they are forced to spend quality time together, they start to see each in a new light. They both start to realize they have more in common then they thought.
Their sexual tension turns into so much more.
I love this friends to lovers story. The characters have depth. Great addition to this series!
This was a great slow burn read. Sean and Dani had a lot of long time baggage to get through and they did. They did it on their terms with humour, love and understanding, not to mention cheesy movie references. My eyes were leaking by the end.
Daniela/Dani England has built a wall around her heart, the anniversary of her husband’s death is comin up and she’s fighting to get through this year. The camaraderie of the Warrior’s Fight Club does much to help as does the physical exertion.
Sean Riddick doesn’t think he’s worthy of anything or anyone. The Fight Club helps him deal with that as does his job as a firefighter where he often takes on extra shifts to keep from thinking.
Both of our main characters have forms of PTSD on top of their survivors guilt. When they spar whether physical or verbal it’s intense and fueled with innuendos.
Dani doesn’t get all his references, she’s never seen Deadpool. After an intense sparring match where Dani gets hit a bit hard she snipes at him and afterward he had decided not to go to dinner with the group. Dani wants to apologize but he has taken off on his motorcycle, even as she tried to catch him. As she watches he is hit by a box truck and goes flying to the pavement.
An ER nurse, she stays with him and rides in the ambulance keeping him calm. His injuries while not life threatening could end his firefighting career.
I love the way Dani stays by his side, and once he’s home she cares for him as they watch first the Deadpool Movies then start working their way through all the Marvel. They get to know each other away from others and find they have much in common and there’s more than a little spark between them.
A wonderful journey to healing for both, that includes a simmer to sizzle romance with lots of laughter and some tears as well.
I also just realized I missed a book that is a crossover. I will be reading that soon.
This book had me at first page. I’ve been in a fantasy mood lately, so when I picked this one up I was doubting if I was in the right mood for a romance. I’m so glad I picked it up! Laura Kaye never fails me, she’s definitely one of my favorite romance authors.
I was intrigued by Daniela and Sean’s dynamics from their first interaction in the story. They trained together in the Warrior Fight Club, they had an amazing group of friends there and they ended up seeing each other a lot. Sean was a badass firefighter and Daniela was a great nurse. Their chemistry was insane but she wasn’t ready to give in to their attraction. Well… not again. But then Sean had an accident and Daniela swooped in to help him during his recovery. These two were already struggling to resist each other, being in close proximity in Sean’s house meant the pull between them became impossible to ignore. The banter between this two was freaking amazing! Their moments together were hot, steamy, sweet and so, so funny! I loved the fact that Sean was such a superhero fan and I laughed a lot with his Deadpool lines. I also loved how Sean introduced the Marvel universe to Daniela and how they bonded watching Marvel’s movies.
They were so good together and it was amazing watching them opening up to each other. I really loved their story. I really liked Daniela’s background story, I can’t speak about the Kiowa tribe representation but I enjoyed her deep connection with her granny and how much she missed her and the Kiowa community.
The final conflict between them punched me in the stomach, I get that Daniela needed to deal with certain aspects of her past but I wished that it had been done differently. Keeping it vague here to not spoil the story.
Fighting the Fire was a sweet, hot, steamy, emotional, beautifully written romance with amazing characters and so much banter! Highly entertaining, I definitely enjoyed this one and I recommend it.
Ms. Kaye’s Warrior Fight Club series comes to a rousing end with this emotional tale of two wounded warriors finding healing through their long-simmering attraction (leading to a one night stand) and a motorcycle accident he needs help recovering from! Theirs is a journey that put them, and readers, through the wringer in a story that pulled at my heartstrings and brought a tear or two to my eye along the way. Aiding them in their journey was a cast of appealing secondary characters, ones seen in previous books, who are a supportive group with their subtle matchmaking ways and heartwarming words of wisdom. Together they made this a powerful read that is an unforgettable entry in the series.
Daniela England is a nurse who lost her husband six years ago and has kept her heart closed off ever since. The loss of her husband isn’t the only thing weighing on her though as there’s all the other soldiers she couldn’t save who still haunt her today. Being a member of the fight club helps keep her demons at bay, but it also keeps her in view of a man who’s gotten under her skin and won’t let go. Though she’s scared of putting her heart on the line she’s having trouble denying the attraction she has for him in a relationship full of push and pull moments that play out as the story progresses. Sean Riddick is a veteran too…and now a firefighter who finds himself constantly coming into contact with Dani. His own difficult past has him concerned about his ability to make a future, a HEA with someone else, because of an abusive childhood and the loss of fellow soldiers over the years that has him feeling like a failure. Being part of the fight club helps him work out some of his anger but it’s the heartfelt talks he and Dani soon start engaging in once he starts his rehabilitation that finally puts them on the road to HEA and an ending that made me feel good.
On a whole this was a well-crafted romance, a slow-burn tale full of push/pull moments that made for a story teeming with sexual tension. Dani and Sean were crackling together in interactions that felt more like foreplay at times. Balancing out the combustible moments between them were scenes of deep talks that had them laying their emotions bare and had me rooting for them from the first page to the last. Though this wasn’t a unique storyline it was an emotionally engaging one that warmed my heart and captivated my soul through the power of love flowing between Dani and Sean.
4.5 STARS!
I was so excited to get this book and it was totally worth the wait! I was completely lost in ALL. THE. FEELS. and I didn’t want this book to end. I enjoyed the banter and the sexual tension between Sean and Daniela. When circumstances arise that throw these friends together, things shift and soon they’re acting on that tension. Again. Sean is a strong guy and he’s not afraid to go head-to-head with Daniela. They thrive on the back and forth and soon learn they have a lot more in common than they realized. I liked their developing friendship and their budding romance. I was here for it all and I can’t recommend this book enough!
This book was totally worth waiting for. The sexual tension between Sean and Dani was off the charts. I loved the secret nerdy side of Sean and that Dani got into with him.
