One night is never enough… toe.
ER nurse Daniela England has lost so much that she’s vowed never to need anyone again. Fight club helps her beat back her survivor’s guilt, but it means dealing with Riddick. The hot-but-infuriating firefighter is everything she wants to avoid, which is why their one-night stand was a mistake. Now she needs to keep her distance so it doesn’t happen again.
But when Dani witnesses Sean’s motorcycle accident, she steps up to help him recover. One on one, they get beneath all the snark and find a connection neither expected. As Sean heals, the sparks between them burst into red-hot passion—and ignite old wounds. Now there are fires all around—and they have to decide which they’ll fight and which they’ll let consume them.

Well worth the wait! This addition to the Warrior Fight Club series was just as page-turning as the rest of the series!
Sean Riddick, a firefighter, and Daniela “Dani” England, an ER nurse, are both members of the Warrior Fight Club. Their connection is intense and undeniable. A motorcycle accident leads to Dani and Sean spending a great deal of time together. Wherein Sean teaches her all about fandom with some Marvel movie marathon. As a huge Deadpool fan myself, I loved that Sean introduced her to Deadpool and made her a fan. I couldn’t get enough of the Deadpool quotes in this story. Hilarious! Other than that obvious awesomeness, they form a friendship during their time spent together as they learn a lot more about each other and their past hardships. That friendship and raw openness leads to them being unable to resist their desires. I love that the book recognizes the importance of emergency responders and military, and just how crazy their lives can be. And I love the tight bonds and comradery the characters all have with each other. It made the story stand out. Laura Kaye writes such sexy, captivating, passionate, and unique stories. I couldn’t stop listening!
“You’ll not only say it, Dani. You’ll beg me for it.”
Andi Arndt is legendary! Her narration is always perfect. The timing, pitch, pace, and character distinction were spot on. You know you’re in for a treat when Andi is the narrator!
5 chimichanga stars!

This is book 3 in the Warrior Fight Club series. I love a damaged, tortured hero and Sean is the definition of one (and so is Daniela). Sean a fire fighter who has a lot of scars from his childhood and from his time in the Navy. Daniela is an ER nurse who lost her husband from an IED while they were both serving in Afghanistan. Both Sean and Dani use Warrior Fight Club as a way to work out their feelings and they’ve been frenemies for 5 years through their interactions there. When Sean is injured in an accident while riding his motorcycle, Dani helps to take care of him beginning at the scene of the accident. The more time the two of them spend together the more their feelings grow. This book has a little bit of everything on the journey to Sean and Dani’s HEA – sweet moments, heart squeezing encounters, found family support, painful pasts, fan your face steam, and even some chuckles. I love when real life issues – like family difficulties, deaths, PTSD, and difficult childhoods – are included in romances, it makes for more three dimensional characters and more well rounded and relatable storylines. This was a heart warming story about love, loss, family, and damaged but not broken people. I definitely felt all the feels with this one. I hope there are more books from the Warrior Fight Club family because I’ll definitely be reading them.
This is my first read in this series but will not be my last. I need to grab the there books STAT because I devoured this one.
This is a hot -pun intended- firefighter read that you won’t be able to put down once you start. It read great as a standalone but you will want to read more as soon as you are done. I loved Daniella and Sean. I was HERE FOR IT fight off the bat.
The back and forth that the characters have, couples with all the other character you meet, leaves you in love with the world from the start.
Once things heat ups – Pun Intended again- you are truly hooked and can’t put the book down. It was a slow burn that had just enough angst for me. I loved their HEA and was here for every second of the journey.
Gritty, sexy, fabulous read!
Dani and Sean, members of the Warrior Fight Club, have been dancing around each other for months, then give in.
Sean is a fire fighter, Dani is a nurse. Both have a crappy history. They push and pull each other constantly, until they combust.
Dani’s husband’s death anniversary is coming up, and she’s feeling it. So naturally they both say the wrong things. But they make it right.
Get ready to ugly cry
Laura Kaye is back and in fire.
One night. Was it a mistake or was it not enough? There are many kinds of battle wounds and not all of them you can see. Demons that continue to hunt long after the deed has been done. Warrior Fight Club helps give those that have served a safe way to battle those demons in a way they can only understand.
Sean and Dani gave into the passion and dance around it didn’t happen. Their banter and barbs were as good as their sparring matching. They both felt so deeply in everything they did. And that made watching these two dance around their attraction very entering. They both felt so much on a soul deep level. In many ways Sean and Dani are very alike. Both have previous military careers in both of them having jobs in service that put themselves on the line for the needs of others. Dani was loyal to the soul level. Her devotion is something to be proud of. Sean Was a wonderful hero. He had this unique mix of just enough alpha, a dash of cockiness with some vulnerability. I loved Dani and Sean together!
It still amazes me how much Laura Kaye can make you feel so much while reading.
Fighting the Fire took a long road to make into the reader’s hand. I am so grateful the Ms. Kaye was able to overcome the trials it took to get Sean and Dani’s story. Fight the Fire will hit you in the heart, make you feel and smile at the ending.
I was delighted to win this ARC in a contest from the author. I’ve followed Laura’s journey to getting this book written and it meant all the more to me. I’ve always liked her stories and this one jumped off the page and into my heart! It’s passionate, endearing and heartfelt. You can tell these two characters are special to the author by the journey they went through to reach their HEA. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for persevering Laura to get this book out and I am so glad your body has healed enough to write again!
Sean Riddick is a firefighter first and always. He was one in the Navy and now he’s one in civilian life. He’s a giver and protector through and through. So is Daniela England an ER nurse who was a Evac Nurse on Black Hawk helicopters in Afghanistan. They both are tormented by their experiences in Afghanistan which is what drove them to the MMA Fight Club made up of Veterans. Daniela is a widow who lost her husband fighting the war in another area and she haunted by the fact she wasn’t there for him. Sean is haunted by those in his command who died in a horrendous explosive fire on a ship. These two have chemistry in spades that they fight.
When Sean is injured in a motorcycle accident, Dani is the first one to get to him at the accident. He’s so afraid he wont be able to fight fires anymore and trusts her to tell him straight when the doctors talk to him. She helps him recover with his recovery and the time together shows them they have similar hearts. I was so drawn into their story and pulled for them to be vulnerable to each other’s love.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The latest Warrior Fight Club novel was a long-time coming and does not disappoint. Kaye gives Sean and Dani the HEA they so richly deserve. I really loved the return to this world and hope the reviews saying this is the last book are wrong.
I’ve missed the WFC! And I’m glad Sean and Dani got their HEA. Theirs has been a relationship fraught with self-doubt, lashing out, fear and a palpable magnetic attraction. They have many similarities, as they learned when they find themselves together following an emergency that started the book off with a bang. This forced closeness became a lifeline and then as natural as any friendship. The sexual tension built to the point of combustion and ultimately led to the sharing of all that weighed them down. Bravery and strength made them survivors and not it made them lovers.
“Live where you fear to live, Dani”
Daniela England has spent the past 5 plus years letting fear control her decisions. Other than being a part of Warrior Fight Club, she goes to work and mostly keeps to herself. She has spent so much of her time alone, losing too many people she loved, that going about her days with few attachments is just safer.
Sean Riddick is a sarcastic, adrenaline loving firefighter who love verbally, and physically, sparring with Daniela at Warrior Fight Club. Any chance he gets he is enjoys teasing her and irritating her, though it is all in good fun. Sean uses his humor as a barrier, so no one truly knows what he has been through and what type of man he believes himself to be. His childhood and his time in the Navy have shaped him into a man who believe that being alone is best for himself, and anyone around him, because he can’t possibly be good enough to be important to anyone.
When Dani witnesses Sean get injured in a motorcycle crash, mother matters to her except being there to help him and make sure he is going to be ok. As a nurse, she feels she needs to be there through the entire process of recovery. From riding with him in the ambulance, to making sure he doesn’t overdo anything when he gets home, Dani stays by Sean’s side. The more time these two spend together, the more they realize, they are more alike than they ever imagined. Bonding over movies, snacks, and life, Dani and Sean cannot resist the fire that exists between them.
As these two get closer, their insecurities become a bigger hindrance and eventually they both must decide if they can love themselves enough to take down their walls and love one another. Words that Dani’s Granny told her, so many years before come back to her. And she must decide if she can let herself live where her heart and her mind feels the most fear, or if she is going to let the fear ruin her chance to be with a man who can be everything she ever wanted….and they can both support one another, and love one another, in ways they both deserve.
I couldn’t put this book down! Talk about insane chemistry! This couple is fiery and you’ll love the banter between these 2!!! Add in the marvel universe (which I’m afflicted to) and you’ll have the perfect romance of sean and Dani! Amazing job!
A-freaking-mazing! This was so worth the wait! Seriously I adored everything about Fighting The Fire, it was everything you expect out of Laura Kaye and as usual she does these heros justice.
I have been jonesing for this book since I finished Fighting For What’s His. This whole series has been such an eye opening series into the struggle of military members and their families. The author went through battles akin to her characters to get this book to us, but it was most definately worth the wait!
Sean and Dani initially reminded me of grade school boys and girls….”he pulls her pigtails because he likes her and doesn’t know how to show it” kind of thing. They have such chemistry that it is palpable as you read it, but they are both dealing with their own personal struggles and fighting the pull to each other.
When Sean is injured in a motorcycle accident, Dani (who is a nurse) steps us to help him with his recovery. Put two people with magnetic pull in close proximity to each other and they will either kill each other or give in to the pull between them. Well, since it’s a romance, you know it’s gonna happen…but they are gonna have to work through their own personal issues. Dani is still struggling with her survivor’s guilt over her husband’s death. Sean is dealing with his own demons losing his men in battle. Laura Kaye has written two very strong characters, who are clearly the medicine that the other needs to help them heal and open themselves up to love and a possibility of a future.
This book will pull you in from the beginning…you will laugh, smile, gasp, cry and feel every bit of their pain. Laura Kaye has once again delivered a heart warming HEA that shows us the inner struggles of grief, survivor’s guilt and fear to move on. Read this book. Read this series. You won’t regret a second of it.
I was so excited to see this next story in the Warrior Fight Club series and it certainly did not disappoint! Laura Kaye has such as way of capturing you from page one – this book was impossible to put down! I’ve been looking forward to Sean and Dani’s story and it was just as powerful, compelling and emotional as I expected. Such a well-written story that I already want to reread! In addition to Sean and Dani’s journey, it was great to see the rest of the Warrior Fight Club family again too. I LOVE Mo! I would love to see so many more books in this series!
I was a little scared to tip-toe back into the WFC world after such a long break, but quickly learned those fears were completely unnecessary. Laura Kaye is back with a writing style that is as riveting as ever. Dani and Sean’s intense frenemies sparks have been flying for years, and I was thrilled to see them delve past those snarky layers. The friendship that developed between the couple, thanks to movie marathons (Deadpool! YES!), was so much fun to read. I loved watching how these two “helpers” cared for one another, and really appreciated how the issues of difficult childhoods and grief were addressed. Fighting the Fire proved to be a super sexy-and deeply emotional-read that I look forward to reading again!
I thought this book was outstanding. I loved Sean and Dani. There was a sweetness to their story that was charming. Great plot, the story moved quickly and I just loved everything about this book!
Fighting the Fire is the third title in the Warrior Fight Club series, and features Daniela England and Sean Riddick. Both characters have appeared in the previous titles and I was surprised by their romance. Whilst I was expecting an enemies to lovers romance, it was more a frenemies to lovers romance instead.
Sean and Daniela’s story is emotional, and they have a lot in common, in particular that they both served their country and came home with more than their share of emotional scars.
When firefighter Sean is injured in an accident, nurse Daniela aids him in his recovery, and the two are bought closer together. Their banter is fun, flirty and full of sarcasm, and despite the issues from their past this strong and resilient pair have an undeniable connection and chemistry that I thoroughly enjoyed seeing evolve and grow over the course of the title.
For anyone familiar with the series several past characters make cameo appearances and I look forward to future additions to the series.
I’ve been waiting for this book for sooooo long! WFC captured my heart while I was reading the first two books, and I was looking forward to more. As excited as I was when I heard that it was coming my way, I opened this book just as soon as it hit my kindle. And then I took my time reading it! This is one of those books that you savor, enjoying every page. And this book was totally worth the wait. Every bit of it!
Dani is a strong woman, because she has had to be. She has lost everyone that has ever meant anything to her, and that has created walls. Walls so tall that no one will ever get through them. But it is the only way she knows how to protect her shattered, bruised heart. Her prickly exterior is hiding a soft heart that is way too battered to let anyone in again.
Sean has his own set of heartaches. His own nightmares. He struggles with them, not knowing how to push past them. He has his own coping strategy, with WFC, and it works, mostly.
This book is kind of a friends/enemies to lovers. Definitely one that you want to read when you can take your time. Amazing story, well written, complex characters, but also with a lot of humor to keep it from being too heavy. Parts were hard to read, bringing tears to my eyes. But there was an
amazing HEA that made all of the struggle worth it! Epic!
Fighting The Fire is the fourth book in the Warrior Fight Club. A military and sports romance told in dual POV by Daniela England and Sean Riddick . Can be read as a standalone but the characters from the previous books all make an appearance as they are all friends and veterans. This is a lighthearted, funny and enjoyable read. Frenemies that are actually perfect for each other.
Daniela is an ER nurse at the local hospital since leaving her combat medic position when she lost her army husband to an IED. She is still grieving Anthony and feels she can’t move on. She uses the fight club to cope with the survivor’s guilt she still suffers and the feeling everyone leaves her because she has lost her whole family.
Sean is a firefighter and uses the club to fight the demons of his past. His childhood was hard and then he experienced a horrific incident when in the Navy. He’s never had a real relationship as convinced he is destined to hurt those around him. He is more vulnerable than he lets on because he’s become an expert at using humour to deflect any concerns.
Daniela and Sean met five years ago at the Warrior Fight Club and became friends. They both felt the attraction between them and gave into it eight months ago. Sean can’t forget how good they were together and would love to do it again. Daniela feels it was a mistake and doesn’t want to repeat it but her body doesn’t agree with her head! Sean has honoured her wishes to keep it a secret even though all the other veterans sense the weird chemistry and friction between them.
Both are sarcastic and their banter is hilarious throughout the book. Sean loves to tease and flirt, he is full of innuendos with the sense of humour of a teenager. Daniela finds him arrogant and infuriating but has to admit he is hot, especially as she know how good he is in bed !
One night after a session at the club, Dani witnesses Sean have a motorbike accident and her need to help kicks in. She looks after him as he recovers and their friendship develops as they watch Marvel films. She notices that although he in pain and scared he still tries to make her laugh. He is always so strong, both in body and personality, that it is quite a shock to see him vulnerable and having to accept her help.
She is pleasantly surprised by him as there turns out to be many more layers to his character and she finds out they have lots in common. She hadn’t realised how self deprecating he was and how she’d wrongly judged him. She enjoys his company and sees he is actually a good guy who is genuinely concerned about her. She confused and irritated by her feelings for him when the sweet playful, nerdy, super-hero-loving Sean becomes harder to resist. As things between them hot up she is overwhelmed by a sense of shame and guilt for giving in to her desire for him.
They end up telling each other things they never speak about. It was stunning and emotional when he slowly opens up and tells her about his past, however, also sad that in return she could only tell him some him things from hers. Sean thinks she is better than him and can’t believe she cares and stands up for him. He thinks she helping out of a sense of duty and hates needing her help but enjoys seeing another side to her when she funny and laid back.
Things come to heartbreaking and explosive climax when they have to either accept or deny their feelings. He thinks she too good for him and he doesn’t deserve her. She must accept the possibility of falling in love again and put the past behind her?
I cheered when they finally surrender to the chemistry and desire burning between them. Great tension as they struggled with what being together meant as neither expected it to happen.A lovely story of two people finding something they needed in someone else. It was uplifting seeing how she made him believe in himself. Absolutely loved all the Deadpool quotes and the sexy eyebrow movements from Sean. Inspired ending and epilogue to finish a heartwarming story.
