The toughest fighters aren’t created in the octagon but are born of necessity. When life delivers blow after punishing blow, you fight back or get destroyed.
Eve Dawson has had her fill of bad luck. A string of unhealthy relationships has left her angry, bitter, and frustrated. She’s given up on being happy and settles for content. Swearing off men, she repels advances and makes herself a … herself a challenge to even the most persistent suitors. After all, how much can the fragile human heart take? But life isn’t finished with her, and when things can’t possibly get worse . . . they do.
Stay on your feet.
It’s Cameron Kyle’s motto, but with his fighting career ripped from his grasp, a child he wasn’t strong enough to save, and a marriage that even the brawn of a heavyweight couldn’t hold together, it’s getting harder and harder to stay upright. He takes on the position of CEO of the UFL, intent on hiding his biggest weakness in order to forge a path that leads him back into the octagon.
When an old rival mysteriously gets wind of Cameron’s plan to fight again, he comes out of retirement to settle old debts, but secrets, lies, and betrayal threaten to deliver the death-blow. The distraction of a sass-mouthed girl seventeen years his junior is the last thing he needs until a tragic accident shatters the firm foundation of his resolve and he realizes just how far he’s fallen.
Will they risk it all and fight to be together?
Or does defeat lie within the fall?

I have to say this is not my favorite book in this series. I marked it at 4 stars but really I would give it about 3.9 stars. Not saying I didn’t enjoy the book but not as much as the first three.
In my opinion this author could have made Eve a stronger character without taking away from the storyline. In some ways she was sassy & tough & I really did like her, I even understood why she was the way she was, I just had a really hard time connecting to her. But I do have to say the last few chapters brought things around for me in a very huge way.
As for Cameron… I understood where he was coming from so I really didn’t have too many problems with his character. I knew he cared about her, even when he didn’t know it or wouldn’t show it.
I absolutely loved the last few chapters of this book. I would have to say that’s what really saved this book for me. Hoping the next book is more like the first three.

These books are getting better and better. From book one the narrators and the stories kept me downloading them. In this book, the characters develop also through the story and that was missing in the previous books.
Cam was a young fighter when he suffered a tragedy that derailed his life in more ways than one. He has just been appointed the CEO of the UFL. He meets Eve at an after party and his life take another turn. Eve is Raven’s (Fighting for Flight) best friend, she has had a hard life and doesn’t really trust many. The deck is stacked against them from the beginning, will they overcome these obstacles to forge a future together? I really enjoyed their story.
Love my angsty reads and the Fighting series never disappoints. Even though there is a huge age difference between Cameron Kyle the CEO of the UFL, and Eve who we met in the first book, due to their tragic past it was not really apparent.
Fourteen years ago Cameron was at the top of his game both in the ring and in life. He was the undefeated champion and had a beautiful wife and 3 year old twins. In the blink of an eye a complication from a fight leaves him with a brain infection that puts a stop to his career and then a tragedy happens to his daughter. This in turn causes his marriage to implode and his career going in a different direction along with having to live with the enormous guilt about the loss of his fighting career and his daughter .
Eve has pretty much had to take on adult responsibilities when she was a young girl after her mother leaves her with her father who turned into a verbally abusive drunk who gambles any money he got his hands on. This of course leaves her with tons of self esteem and insecurities which has her making poor choices when it comes to men. The only good thing she’s had in her life is her best friend Raven who she almost got killed by choosing to believe the guy she was sleeping with wasn’t a POS. After that disaster she’s sworn off men.
When Cam and Eve meet though the instant attraction is too much for both of them and they end up where they know they should not be but cant resist the sexual pull. These two go through a lot of ups and downs before end of the book. All the previous characters are back in this book and hoping that the single UFL fighters get their books in the future.
