“Katy, your triplets have completely won my heart!” –Mia Sheridan, New York Times bestselling authorFrom the New York Times bestselling author of The Blueberry Lane series comes a new series of romances featuring the Haven triplets and their mischievous cousin!Rory Haven and Brittany Manion knew one another as children……but it’s been a long time since their childhood summers at Summerhaven.… summers at Summerhaven.
The Havens weren’t the children who attended exclusive Summerhaven Camp in Center Sandwich, New Hampshire. They were the children of the owners, expected to “pull their weight” and absolutely forbidden to fraternize with the paying guests. But that didn’t keep Rory from having a quiet, unrequited crush on gorgeous, popular, insanely-rich, Brittany Manion for three tortuous summers.
When all-grown-up, recently-engaged Brittany books the off-season summer camp for her upcoming spring wedding, she immediately recognizes Rory as the scorching-hot boy who wouldn’t give her the time of day. Meanwhile, Rory, who senses that Brittany’s nuptials are less about Mr. Right and more about Mr. Right Now, launches the fight of his life to win the heart of the girl he’s always wanted.

Wonderful
I won a copy of this book from Goodreads giveaways. I have read other books from Kate and this was another hit. The closeness of family is shown but the true love of a person is also there. Rory is the first of the triplets to find love. Looking forward to the rest.
The Haven triplets grew up in a summer camp that was run by their parents. Rory did his best to behave himself and follow the no dating the campers rule set down by his very strict Irish mother, Tierney was a bookish girl who was too shy to be friends with the campers, and Ian had a hard time even getting close to the rules.
Ten years later Rory is running the camp as a convention center/ retreat after his mother had a stroke right as he was graduating from college. Tierney lives nearby and oversees the buildings and tours for a local landmark, and Ian is an alcoholic who is only in touch periodically.
When camp alumi, Brittany Manion, is planning her wedding, she contacts the camp and makes arrangements to tour the camp. When she arrives she is greeted not by Mrs Haven, but by Rory, the boy she had a crush on for four summers.
Great story, lots of Irish sayings, three interlocking stories and one novella where everything gets wrapped up.
Katy Regnery has definitely become one of my favorite authors and I feel like she can’t do no wrong with any story for me 🙂 Loved the story of Brittany and Rory so very much and I was sad to see it end. Can’t wait for the next one in this series!
Brittany and Rory have known each other since they are teenagers but never really interacted with each other due to circumstances. Both had a bit of a crush at one another but that’s all it was back then. Now Brittany is engaged and looking for a place to hold her wedding. She goes back to where she had the best summer of her life. Sometimes life just happens and things turn out differently than you imagine and when Rory has the chance to be with her now, will he be able to ?…
Such a sweet summer romance for Katy Regnery! Fighting Irish was a light, easy read that had me swooning over the hero and had my heart aching for the heroine. Brittany and Rory were perfect together, and this book was just so delightful.
It’s hard to make me sympathetic toward an heiress with more money than God, but Katy Regnery made me feel so sad for Brittany. In fact, there were several times I completely forgot who Brittany was in the society they lived in. She seemed so down to earth and normal, it was easy to like her. She needed someone who would let her spread her wings and find her footing in the world while showing her how special she was and Rory provided exactly that for her.
Rory was special, not just because he was a triplet and had that kind of built-in support system not everyone experiences. No, he was special because he was selfless, in everything. He was dependable and kind, smart and understanding, he had his flaws – though minimal – but he was able to push down his baser instincts to do what was right for the people he loved. I was continually impressed with him and the way he unwaveringly supported those around him.
Fighting Irish was a quick read, but it hit all those feel-good romance qualities I love in a very satisfying way. Rory and Brittany complemented each other wonderfully, and I loved the juxtaposition of her relationship with Rory and the one with her fiancé. The drama was minimal in Fighting Irish, and it was so refreshing to not have a ton of angst and hurt to trudge through to get to the HEA.
Fighting Irish is the first book in Katy Regnery’s Summerhaven trio. These books are interconnected standalones with each book focusing on different couples. There are a few story threads that started in this book that will continue into the next, so I would suggest reading all the books to get the full experience. The book is written in third-person limited perspective, alternatively following Brittany and Rory’s thoughts.
Easy read. I enjoyed the characters in the book and liked the outcome!
This is the first novel of the Haven triplets. We first meet the characters as teens at the picturesque Summerhaven Camp, which Rory’s family owned and operated while Brittany attended. Then we skip forward to them as twenty somethings meeting to plan a wedding. “Life isn’t guaranteed to break your heart. If you lean in and trust it a little, it just might surprise you.”
The characters are rich and deep. Rory’s deep Irish roots, with bit of Gaelic thrown in are impossible not to love. Brittany is opposite of Rory in many ways, but the differences draw you in and make you see the characters as people so much the better. Ms. Regnery provided such amazing details and wrote them in such a fun and witty and charismatic way that I want to be part of the family or their friend! “You deserve amazing” is one of my favorite lines by Rory…everyone deserves a special person who thinks enough of them to know that their love deserves amazing things in and from life.
One thing that I love about this book is the slow build of the relationship. Chapter one doesn’t see any clothes ripping off, but the chemistry and trust and details are all revealed to create a beautiful relationship that we see grow…led by witty conversations like, “Do you have kids? Want them?” “Have them? No. Want them? He grinned at her. “Yeah, of course. I’m Irish. It’s one of our specialties.” “Breeding?” she blurted out…
Ms. Regnery’s writing style caught me almost right away. The witty conversation, magnetic characters and astounding attention to detail keep the book and plot moving forward despite the flashbacks, which all works so well for the storyline. I didn’t put the book down once I started, and am confident future books will continue to thrill.
I want to go to Summerhaven camp. Either as a kid, or as an adult for a conference. It sounds amazing! I should probably visit the East Coast, because New Hampshire and the towns near “Summerhave” sound absolutely fabulous. I want to be friends with the family The way the reader gets drawn into the “tri ciarde” of the triplets makes you feel just a bit like a voyeur to the family, but in the best way. It sets the stage to see if Tierney and Ian get their Happily Ever Afters in following books; which I am excited to read and review!

Fighting Irish by Katy Regnery is the (1st book in the Summerhaven Trio Book#1)
The Haven’s weren’t the children who attended the exclusive Summerhaven Camp for Children in Center Sandwich, New Hampshire. They were the children of the owners, and absolutely forbidden to fraterninize with the paying quests. But that didn’t keep Rory Haven from having a crush on Brittany Minion for four tortuous summers.
Every summer, several hundred kids from affluent families in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and all over New England came to spend a few weeks. Among them a beautiful brunett named Brittany Minion. Each year that she was there, Rory experienced a love affair from a distance.
Rory Haven had attented the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University on a full Scholarship. Only to have his dreams float away when his mother had a stroke. And he was summed home to take the reins of Summerhaven. He was part of triplets: Rory, Ian, and Tierney. It seemed he was the most responsible and was placed in charge.
Six years of saving his parents from losing Summerhaven. Rory is face to face with his teenage dream girl Brittainy Manion Mathison. He is torn between giving her the dream marriage or keeping her all to himself.
Brittainy is a dream come true. She is there and a gorgeous, smart, kindhearted woman. The only problem being is she is engaged to someone unworthy. She couldn’t see how amazing she was. Rory was a person who could help heal her broken heart from years of betrayal. She felt herself falling toward him, into him, for him. He was old fashioned words like loyalty, honor and character. Instead of living for the promises of tomorrow, she was living the miracles of today. Could they reach for today and let the past stay in the past.
This book was a fun, easy, summer read!
3.5 Fraternizin’ Stars. Fighting Irish is the first of the Summerhaven trio series. Summerhaven is a family business that the Havens have owned/run for generations and this series is about the triplets who are the current generation running the camp. It’s Rory’s story, the middle of the trio, the rule follower, the heart of the tri ciarde.
It opens with the mother sitting the fifteen-year-old triplets down for their “pep talk” before the paying campers arrive. “There’ll be no fraternizin’ with the guests” is the theme of the talk. Rory learned it, and learned it well, which is why he always watched Brittany Manion from afar. Fast forward ten years and Rory is now in charge. He’s renovated the camp and transformed it into a conference center. He’s given up much to make sure the Haven legacy lives on. He’s happy to do it, but he’s also wondering if his dreams will ever come to fruition.
Brittany Manion Mathiason has finally gotten her fiancé to agree to a date and she’s frantically trying to plan her second wedding. She’s found the perfect place, the place she was the happiest, Summerhaven Camp. She has no idea how much it’s changed in the ensuing years since she was a camper, but she’s soon to find out. And so the story begins……
Fighting Irish isn’t really anything new, but Brittany and Rory make it a lot of fun. This is another sweet, adorably endearing story offered by Ms Regnery with characters that will leave you with warm fuzzies. It’s a quick read that isn’t full of angst or over-the-top drama. It’s just a smooth flowing read that entertains. Oh, and the Gaelic sayings that pop-up now and again just add to the flavor!
I’ve read several of this author’s previous books, and have enjoyed them overall, but after the ending of the Blueberry Lane series, I wasn’t sure where the author could go from there. Reading this novel illustrated to me that this author is a truly gifted storyteller!
I loved the sweet second chance romance of Rory and Brittany! I thought their journey toward relationship was well paced and believable. I loved how Rory cared for his family and how he wanted to stand on his own with his dreams. I loved how Brittany handled the situation and didn’t give him trouble for it either. The story was entertaining and engaging!
I also enjoyed the supporting characters of Rory’s family and can’t wait to see them showcased in their own books!
Rory had to set his dreams aside when illness struck his family. A meeting with a future bride to utilize the Summerhaven facilities brings all of his past plans rushing back. He was not expecting that bride to be Brittany Manion, the girl he had crushed on for three years when he was young. Now, he’s struggling with his feelings for a woman that is engaged to another.
Brittany dreams of the perfect life with marriage and children and family. Throughout her life she has never been enough for someone to love but now she’s clinging tightly to her dream. When she hits a speed bump along the way, Rory becomes her soft place to land.
I enjoyed watching Rory and Brittany fall in love. He was always there for her and she needed someone she could trust. My heart hurt for her as she struggled with feeling unloved but Rory was the perfect hero to sustain her through her pain. He was always so kind and caring and sweet. His heart was invested from the first moment he laid eyes on her again and yet he floundered at how to proceed. Watching him battle against his own mixed emotions was moving and I fell more in love with him as I witnessed his losing battle against loving a woman promised to another man.
This was a fast paced read, low on the steam, and any angst involved was due to Brittany’s relationship with her fiancée. The secondary characters were well developed and help to set up future books in the series. There is no epilogue, I assume due to this couple possibly being included in the rest of the series. Overall, this was a sweet read that I immensely enjoyed.
Many LOL moments, great hero and heroine—I recommend your enjoying this book!
What a lovely touching and heartwarming romance! Fighting Irish is the first book in the Summerhaven Trio series which follows triplets Rory, Ian and Tierney Haven.
“You’re not just brothers and sister. You’re not just family. That’s too easy because you were born with each other. You need to work at it. You need to be friends too. Three friends. Trí ciarde.”
Brittany Manion returns to Summerhaven resort to plan her future in a place that holds so many good memories for her. When All her plans fall apart, she finds that Summerhaven and its residents are there to support her.
“What’s wrong with me?
Am I unlovable?
Because that’s sure how it feels.”
In Fighting Irish we get Rory Haven’s story. He has put aside his dreams to keep his parent’s dream alive at Summerhaven. But he never gives up hope that one day he can move on to working towards his goals. When Brittany shows up with her heart broken, Rory sets his sights on helping her heal.
“Life isn’t guaranteed to break your heart. If you lean in and trust it a little, it just might surprise you.”
Fighting Irish was a quick and easy read and drew me into the story right from the start. I found myself staying up late for ‘just one more chapter’ until there were no more chapters.
Rory Haven used to crush on Brittany Manion when they were children. She was a camper at the summer camp his parents owned. But he never spoke to her. He wasn’t allowed to fraternize with the guests and he held fast to that rule.
Brittany Manion couldn’t help but notice quiet Rory Haven when they were children. She crushed on him from afar, watching, but never catching his eye. She heard stories about his brother, but never heard anything about the object of her affection.
Finding themselves back at Summerhaven, Rory and Britt dance around each other. They each have other obligations and loyalties, but they can’t stay away from one another. What these two don’t know is that they are absolutely perfect for each other!
Told in true Katy Regnery fashion, this story weaves the tale of rich girl, working boy and shows them as they’ve entered adulthood, struggled, and overcome their own personal demons. Each character is lovable and you just want to see more of them.
I am already looking forward to the next two books in this series! These Haven triplets are so fun!
Brittainy is a girl who dreams of having a family after the frustration of being swapped for her first husband, she is now hoping to have found the father of her children, Benjamin Parker, a renowned doctor who asked her to marry him.
Rory is the typical rule-abiding kid, even though he does not like the town where the family that came from Ireland sets out to set up a summer camp, he who was ready to follow his business plan takes over the family camp after his mother’s stroke but what seemed to be a torture becomes a pleasant surprise when Brittainy, who was his crush in the past, returns to the camp wanting to arrange her wedding.
Of course the reunion rekindles the flame in the heart of the beautiful Rory but as good as he is, he meets Brittainy professionally without showing his disappointment in finding out about the marriage.
But not everything is lost when she reappears heartbroken and wanting to find a new meaning for life and Rory will be there with his sweet and loyal way ready to show the value that Brittainy has and how strong she is and deserves to realize all her dreams .
I’m a fan of Kate Regnery’s books but this really surpassed my expectations, both for the way Rory manages to win the girl and for the way Brittainy realizes how low her self-esteem is ruining her life.
Very beautiful the love story of them and I associate in several moments with the song Perfect of Ed Sheeran.
I loved the cover and I’m already looking forward to Tierney’s plot.
5/5 stars
Fighting Irish
Rory and Brittany.
The Haven children..Rory , Ian and Tierieny were not the well to do children that spent their summers enjoying friends and summer camp. The Haven siblings were the hired help of their family business running the camp. Unfortunately for Rory his parents instituted a strict no fraternizing policy with the campers but that didn’t stop Rory from admiring a beautiful young hotel heiress from the city each summer .
Brittany is a young, smart business savvy woman who cant seem to find that true love. She is from a wealthy family that has made their way in the high hotel world .She has always been with a man that has made her feel like second best. She is now getting married and her fiancé has no desire to help with the planning . She thinks back to the place that she always loved and found the most fulfilling ..the summer camp that she attended as a teen. Taking a road trip she finds that they are now renting it out for business professionals and as a wedding venue. The camp is just as beautiful as she remembers and the handsome boy who was always looking her way is now the owner. She always felt that the handsome Rory Haven was smitten with her but he never acted on it . She finally finds out that his parents were the reason behind that ! While staying at the camp Rory’s siblings run into a bit of a crisis and Brittney steps up to help him and while doing so begins to realize how much she enjoys the hands on part of the hotel business and hanging around Rory!
I loved the progression of their relationship. They brought out the best in each other at every turn . Beautiful story!

I didn’t enjoy as much as other books by Katy but her writing is always worthy of a read. This was a very easy read. I look forward to the other books in the series!
I’ve been caught up in the world of stretching my reader’s legs and going outside of my carefully designated box. Although many of these books, I’ve enjoyed. But I didn’t know I was ready for my hearts and flowers HEA read until I picked up and devoured this story.
Katy is one of my ‘go-to’. She writes stories that appeal to my heart when I just want a romantic read. Rory and Britt’s story was the magic I needed and can’t wait for more. I’d shelf this under ‘second chance’ with adding – catching the one that you let get away. Usually these stories, its the H or h that allowed the other to escape. But in the case of Rory and Britt, it was their teenage hearts and circumstances that didn’t allow them to connect. But as adults they form first a friendship that blossoms into love in the best of ways.
Besides a love story, you get the insight into family and what it means to have a close relationship with all the ups and downs. I can’t wait for siblings, Tiereny and Ian, stories. I can already see a binge until I’m done once they go live.
If you are a fan of Katy’s Blueberry Lane series, you’ll find the same quirky, lovable and strong characters we found in that world. If you are new to Katy and love a romantic story, one click today and expect to devour the story. 5 out of 5 stars
Fighting Irish is SO GOOD!!!! It is beyond amazing!!!! This shows there is hope for all of us hopeless romantics. Out of the darkness something beautiful blossoms.
Why??? WHY???? WHY??? Why are you making me wait for Tierny and Ian’s stories???? Rory and Britt are such a beautiful couple. Their story is beyond romantic. And now I have to sit and wait for the next two books in the series. It is going to be a miserable couple of months until Smiling Irish in April. And after that teaser, June is going to seem so far away. Thankfully the release of Loving Irish is going to make my summer.
You introduced me to an amazing set of triplets. They are such wonderful individuals. Thank you for letting me get to know them all through Fighting Irish. I loved how Rory knew he had to fight for Britt, how he had to do something special to proof he wanted her and not her money. He had been dealt a raw deal six years earlier and definitely deserves his own happiness and future.
Britt first saw Rory when she attended Summerhaven at age 14. He was not allowed to fraternize. He was not allowed to rub elbows with the rich. Both were left empty. Britt has tried to find love. Maybe she has tried to hard to find what was missing–family. She returned to the only place she felt apart of something. Without realizing it she returned to Rory.
He is clueless. She is gun shy. He is happy to have siblings. She is sad to be an only child. He needs someone to fund his plan. She has money that he refuses to take. But they have something in common–a feeling, a desire. If only…..
This is a beautiful, hopeful, captivating journey that Britt and Rory go on.
I must say there are some aspects of the writing that I wasn’t particularly a fan of, however, overall it was sexy, sweet and immersive to read.
Brittney’s story really tugged at my heartstrings, her loneliness was so painfully and acutely portrayed that I genuinely felt adrift in a sea of feels, her insecurities and pain was just so clear it felt like a physical, powerful presence. And seeing her development with that, how she works through those fears to trust and love Rory, and find her happiness.
I love how we see the development from an innocent, teenage crush, to two adults discovering the beautiful potential they have as a couple. This is more classed as ‘women’s fiction’ than romance, it’s very much a slow burn, the focus being the Brittney developing and healing on her own, and learning that being on her own, as a single woman, isn’t the same as being alone and lonely. It’s a beautiful, heart wrenching celebration of friendship that made my heart feel so whole and made any little nitpicks I had on the writing disappear and no longer matter to me.
I read this on the train home from London, normally I struggle to read on a train without my headphones in because I’m a really self conscious, shy person. However, I was so entranced by this love story that I forgot everything going on outside of my kindle. Katy Regnery really pulls you into the novel and keeps you captive until the final page. I’m really excited for the next instalment so I can learn more about Tierney and hopefully see her get her happy ending because her strength and loyalty really humbled me.
