“Katy, your triplets have completely won my heart!” –Mia Sheridan, New York Times bestselling authorFrom the New York Times bestselling author of The Blueberry Lane series comes a new series of romances featuring the Haven triplets and their mischievous cousin!Rory Haven and Brittany Manion knew one another as children……but it’s been a long time since their childhood summers at Summerhaven.… summers at Summerhaven.
The Havens weren’t the children who attended exclusive Summerhaven Camp in Center Sandwich, New Hampshire. They were the children of the owners, expected to “pull their weight” and absolutely forbidden to fraternize with the paying guests. But that didn’t keep Rory from having a quiet, unrequited crush on gorgeous, popular, insanely-rich, Brittany Manion for three tortuous summers.
When all-grown-up, recently-engaged Brittany books the off-season summer camp for her upcoming spring wedding, she immediately recognizes Rory as the scorching-hot boy who wouldn’t give her the time of day. Meanwhile, Rory, who senses that Brittany’s nuptials are less about Mr. Right and more about Mr. Right Now, launches the fight of his life to win the heart of the girl he’s always wanted.

Warm and fuzzy insides…that is how every Katy Regnery story leaves me feeling. Feel good romance, caring, kind and swoon worthy characters with a story that just melts you’re heart is what she is BEST at. It doesn’t matter if it’s modern fairy tale romance , a standard contemporary romance or a paranormal romance she has managed to steal my breath with every one of her stories. Fighting Irish is the first another string of books that I know are going to continue that pattern for me.
Rory Haven is one of the Haven triplets who grew up learning to work their family camp grounds that’s been in the family for years. He loves his family and would never shirk his responsibilities, but deep down he wants to spread his wings and fly. He has big dreams and an even bigger heart, so when responsibility comes calling he sets his dreams and wants aside to do what’s right. The man is honorable to the nth degree and he just makes my heart pitter-patter. Aside from his strong bond with his two siblings and love for his parents, his heart has only felt for one other person. Brittany.
Brittany is beautiful and caring and according to Rory, way out of his league. She’s an heiress who could want for nothing and having been brought up being reminded that his social class was a bit lower and being forbidden to socialize with their campers, he always kept his distance from the one person who always caught his eye.
Little did he know that though Brittany grew up wanting for nothing, in a material sense, she was always missing that one thing everyone wants. Love. For a woman of her status it’s hard to know if it’s you or you’re money someone is interested in and in Brittany ‘s case theirs just all wrong for you to begin with. The poor girl had such bad luck with guys and Rory made all that heartache go away with his gentleness and sweet Gaelic murmurs and nicknames.
It never fails that when I finish a Katy Regnery book that I’m left feeling like I’m floating on air and have stars in my eyes. With her a happy ending isn’t just inevitable, but memorable.
Fighting Irish felt like a gift from Katy Regnery to my giant, sappy, romance hungry heart. From the heartwarming dynamic between the Haven triplets, to the simmering sweet chemistry between Rory and Brittany, this story was like a warm cozy blanket on a snowy afternoon and I never ever wanted to crawl out of it.
This is a relatively short, fast moving story – but it took precise shots at all my romance sweet spots and managed to hit nearly all of them. It’s deeply romantic, sweetly sincere, and loaded with those sort of cinematic moments that deliver the butterflies in your belly and the ache in your chest that feels just a little bit like falling in love. I adored the bit of slow burn that led up to Rory and Brittany’s relationship. I loved who they were to each other and the way their story unfolded. Any concerns I had about how Ms. Regnery would carry out the premise of this story were resolved pretty early on (and let’s be honest, I’ve read enough Katy Regnery books at this point to know that I can trust her with my heart).
I loved how these characters were written. One thing the author excels at is writing these completely relatable, authentic characters. They’re not perfect, but they’re perfect enough to completely fall head over heels in love with, and this extends even beyond the romance. I adored the relationship between the triplets – Rory, Tierney, and Ian. There’s a feeling of genuine affection, camaraderie, and heaps of good-natured teasing that I completely connected with and so, no surprise here, you can rest assured that I am beyond excited for more of this delightfully flawed little family.
All in all – this story read like a decadent treat and, indeed, that’s how it was received in my heart. Cannot recommend this one highly enough, and I – as always – am so excited for more to come!
Fighting Irish is a sweet story of second-chance love amidst class differences and a history of betrayals suffered by the heroine Brittany Manion. Rory Haven is an ideal hero–responsible, kind, understanding, and patient. He’s had a crush on Brittany since they were fourteen, but his obedience to his mother’s edict of non-fraternization with their summer camp’s attendees won out over his adolescent feelings. Given another chance with the woman of his dreams, he took it, but he waited until she was ready and had developed feelings for him in return.
I liked that this was slow-burn and Rory and Brittany did not get together until they’ve declared their love for one another. I absolutely adore the highlighting of love for family in this novel. It’s Brittany’s dream and the happy ever after she deserves after all she’s been through. Rory’s bond with his siblings was celebrated without having it take over the book.
One mark of a good book for me is when I had a hard time putting it down. Fighting Irish is one such book, that’s why I’m giving it five stars.
Okay Katy Regnery, I consumed this book yesterday, and I will read it again tonight! It is that good, and after the teaser for Smiling Irish, I am now waiting impatiently for it to come out! You definitely have another great series in the works! I definitely recommend everyone read this one!
The spirit of the Irish meets the allure of romance. Ms. Regnery takes us beyond the borders of social class in a tale as old as time, but no less breathtaking. Rory and Brittany come from two different worlds. The haves and the have nots. When you live your life based on labels it’s easy to lose sight of who you are. Money doesn’t buy happiness. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. As children Rory and Brittany had little choice in how they lived their lives. Will the maturity of adulthood give them courage to follow their heart’s desire? In situations like this I always root for the underdog. Katy Regnery made one underdog out of two people. Fighting Irish captured my heart at hello, which made it hard to have to say goodbye.
5 Star Review Fighting Irish (The Summerhaven Trio #1) by Katy Regnery
This was one of those books that grabbed me from the start and never let me go; what a terrific read Fighting Irish was. I simply devoured this book and was saddened when I finished it in almost one sitting.
This is Rory Haven and Brittany Manion’s story. They knew one another as children but it’s been a long time and Brittany had no idea that Rory had feelings for her back then.
Brittany is planning her wedding and has decided that the place where she used to spend her summers would be the perfect place to hold the wedding. Rory is now running the family business, having put aside his dreams, to help out when his mother has a stroke. After all, he is the most qualified to take over, isn’t he?
I fell hard and fast for Rory Haven, there was just something about him that ticked all the boxes for me.
Rory is stunned when he realises who Britt is and the chemistry between them is instantaneous. What happens when Rory sets his sights on Britt? Will she go through with her planned marriage or will she take a leap of faith and explore the feelings which are smouldering between her and Rory? One click and find out.
I have read and listened to several previous books by Katy Regnery and as with those, I found her writing to be outstanding, the camaraderie and his relationships with his family was realistic and all in all this made for a great read.
Fighting Irish was a beautifully written, romantic, story of a second chance at love and that given time and hard work, dreams can and do come true. I cannot wait for more in this series.
