What a great story this was! I loved it so much!!
Levi and Emerson meet when Lily, Levi’s daughter, gets sick and he has to take her to the ER. Emerson is there, and they meet.
Levi is beside himself, and Emerson is so enamoured with Lily.
They get to talking and they forge a small bond right then and there.
Emerson gets off work one day and goes to visit him at work. SURPRISE! He’s a tattoo artist!
Their attraction to one another from this chapter on is so palpable off the pages as you read. You can feel it!
I even love Levi’s family. They know he’s had a rough go and they can see the attraction between him and Emerson!
Not only does Emerson fall in love with Levi, but also Lily!
Something really bad happens with Lily and Emerson thinks Levi will blame her and not want to be with her anymore. Little does she know that since the attempted abduction of Lily failed, they come after her. Who is it though? Why are they after her? Can Levi get to her in time to continue this journey they’re on?
Fave quote of the book:
Levi: I don’t have them. But I’m down for calming yours.
Emerson: Oh God, shut it. I gotta go, Levi 😉 – I love their banter back and forth with one another.
What an emotional ride! The suspense starting about half way through was a bit unexpected but holy cow! This is a must read.

Holy wow and wowza! I’m speechless. I’ve just finished Fighting For Us and I’m in love with this book, characters and Heather’s writing. Heather Lyn is new author to me but I will definitely read all of her books. I loved the writing so much – it’s like she has a special spell that you can’t help but be pulled immediately into the story. I am a sucker for single parent trope and this book didn’t disappoint at all. This author just became my one-click and must read. Reading this book showed me how great storyteller Heather is.
This is beyond an insta-love and insta connection. It’s about second chances, taking risks, letting yourself fall in love, family values and knowing that together you can heal and overcome all obstacles if you love each other.
Levi is a single father trying to find his footing and to raise his 4 year old daughter after Lily’s mom walked out on them. He’s a tattoo artist. Levi is funny, charming, loving, caring person with a heart of gold. He’s so open and honest, strong and compelling; he wants to be strong for the persons he loves so that is the reason he doesn’t like to show his vulnerability. Loved his connection to Lily and how much he loves her and cherishes her. Lily is just precious child and a center of Levi and Emmy’s love story.
Emerson is a nurse and trying to finish school at the same time. She’s such an amazing and fantastic heroine: funny, sweet, loving, caring, down to earth, strong, smart, feisty, brave, a true survivor and a fighter. I loved and adored her so so much. I admired her strength. The bond she created with Levi and his daughter is just incredible and undeniable. Loved the way she was treating Lily and how much she loved her.
One of the things I loved about Levi and Emmy is that when they love they love so deeply. She was the perfect match for Levi. She fought for what she wanted and wouldn’t let go. Levi would do anything for the people he loves and cares about: he only wanted his girls to be safe and to feel loved. I loved that both Levi and Emmy weren’t afraid to show their feelings and that they were communicating so openly and honestly. I loved their flirty banter. From the moment they met there were connection, pull and the sizzling chemistry. Yes, it was an insta love, but it didn’t feel like that, it wasn’t rushed and yes, the relationship between Levi, Emmy and Lily was fast but it worked because the more time they spent together the more their feelings and connection grew and Emmy was given a chance to get to know Lily. They are also intense and passionate, steamy and hot. I love that they included Lily in almost everything which made their connection so much stronger and their love story special and timeless.
Overall this was incredibly emotional, heartbreaking, but also heartfelt, heartwarming, amazing story with so much soul and heart. It was well developed and well written. The characters are so real and I could connect and identify with them. Read this story, you won’t regret it
Gorgeous and dedicated tattooed single father to a beautiful little girl.
Now, if that doesn’t get your attention, I can’t imagine what will!
Levi Jackson is the single father to a precocious 4 year old girl who is the apple of her family’s eye. I love his supportive mum and dad, as well as his brother Caden with whom he has opened a tattoo studio called Marvelled Misfits Ink. Their sister, Sydney also works there. When he has to rush his daughter to hospital one day, it’s the nurse and her immediate affection for Lily that captures his attention, for the first time since Lily was born. Until now, he’s been snowed under with diapers and his tattoo work, and suddenly there’s blonde hair, blue eyes, and a little hand that fits perfectly in his…..
Student nurse, Emerson Reese is in her final year of study, and works part time at the ER to help pay her way. She’s dedicated and caring, and everyone loves her. She’s on duty when a panicked Levi brings a sick Lily into the ER, is immediately drawn to the most attractive man she’s ever seen, and the little girl with blue eyes identical to her father’s.
For the first time, since he’s become a parent, Levi is prepared to bring someone else into the lives of him and his little girl, much to Lily’s delight, because it’s Miss Emmy, the nurse who looked after her in hospital. Lily is the centre of their lives, and Levi doesn’t doubt the love between his two girls, especially when a spectre from his past shows up and puts a pall on their future. That’s when Levi realises just how much Emerson loves Lily, and how far she will go to protect her.
I did find the insta-love aspect to be just a little too perfect, and found the story slowed a little in the middle, but I can tell you that WHAM! All of a sudden sh!t happens and their lives turned pear shaped to the extreme, in something that I suspected could have happened, but, I can tell you, that Heather Lyn put me, and her characters through a wringer of emotions…! If you don’t keep reading, you WILL be sorry! I really enjoy Ms Lyn’s books, and was as happy as all hell to win a free copy of this book. 4.5 Stars.
Ahhhhhh Levi ….. my sweet, sexy, swoony, hottttttt single dad …. This is my fave read of Heathers and it’s gonna take ALOT to knock Levi out of his spot lol…. Emmy is so sweet and patient ….. I love how she loves Lily…..
Levi and Emmy (love those names) have a beautiful love story, but not without some ugliness. I loved Levi’s character from the first page, such a strong, loving, hardworking man. Emerson for some reason was a little harder to like at first, she was smart, caring, and hardworking. I loved how passionate they both were with each other as well as Levi’s daughter Lily. Danger confronted this family and I enjoyed how the characters handled it, made me really like Emmy’s strength. Lots of sexy scenes but even more love felt.
I knew before diving into this book, that it would be an emotional read. This was based off of the previous books by the author, as well as a few hints that were let out by the author prior to ARCs being sent. I was absolutely not wrong in this assumption. What I didn’t expect was to totally fall in love with these characters, and for my emotions to be totally all over the place, from one end of the spectrum to the other.
This book is about Levi Jackson, a single father of an absolutely adorable little girl, and Emerson Reece, a nursing student. There is an immediate attraction, and that adorable little girl hooks Emerson from the word Go!
As you begin, it seems like this is just going to be another straightforward (but still amazing!) love story. But no! The author throws in a totally unexpected curveball, that totally changes the entire dynamics of the story. It then becomes something that you just can’t put down until you’ve finished the last page.
I love Levi! He is so patient with his daughter, and the way he is with Emmy? Swoon! And Emmy is such a strong woman. She isn’t afraid to stand up for herself and those she loves. She rises above everything and carries on in such a way that just floors me.
Heather Lyn has quickly become one of my favorite authors, and this story is not exception. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

Levi Jackson has one female in his life, and that is his beautiful daughter, Lily. He loves her
with all of his heart and she is his top priority. His ex-wife gave up on Lily a long time ago, but
Levi has surrounded her with the love of his parents, brother and sister. He owns a tattoo shop
with his brother Caden, and their sister Sydney, works alongside them. Levi doesn’t have room
in his life or his heart for anyone else, but sometimes love sneaks up on you and you never see
it coming. One night Lily had become very sick and Levi didn’t know what to do, so he bundled
her up and drove her to the hospital. Fortunately for both of them, Lily only had an ear infection,
so she would be feeling better soon. While Levi was sitting with Lily, a friendly nurse with a
beautiful smile came into the room to check on them. Lily gave her a big smile and Levi was
amazed that she took to her so quickly. Levi was taken with her, too. “Hi, my name is
Emerson,”, she said as she shook hands with him. Immediately Levi thought that her small hand
was just right for his big one. He was in big trouble.
Emerson thought Lily was the cutest little girl she had ever seen, and she thought Levi was very
good looking and a fantastic father. As a nursing student, she should be concentrating on the
patient, not thinking of ways to get to know her father. She hadn’t been this attracted to anyone
in a very long time and she certainly wasn’t looking for a relationship. A few days later, Levi and
Lily stopped by the hospital to see Emmy and thank her for taking such good care of her.
Emmy picked Lily up and Levi loved how happy his daughter looked in her arms, and he knew
then that he needed Emmy in his life. They both needed her, and by the way Emmy looked at
him, he thinks she feels the same way.
Will Levi and Emmy act upon their feelings for each other and let their love bring them together
as a family with Lily?
Can Levi protect his family and keep them safe from something in his past that he thought was
gone forever?
“Fighting For Us” by Heather Lyn is the first book in her new series, The Jackson Trilogy, and it
was amazing. Levi and Emmy had an instant connection and their feelings become deeper and
more intense as their relationship develops. Heather has written a beautiful story about
happiness, a forever love and the importance of family. She writes characters that are
emotional and honest about their feelings for each other which lets the reader feel connected to
them from the very beginning. Heather is a creative and passionate writer and I know everyone
will love “Fighting For Us” as much as I did.
