How long would you wait for the love of your life? The Asher Bailey who comes home to his quirky small town isn’t the same man who put a ring on Grace’s finger. He’s bigger, harder, haunted. Forced to give up Grace and everything else that was good in his life for a prison sentence he barely survived. Now that he’s home, he finds himself aggressively welcomed by his brothers and gleefully gossiped … brothers and gleefully gossiped about by his neighbors. He’d counted on both.
But he never expected to see Grace still wearing his ring.
Grace’s fairy tale didn’t end. It was interrupted. She’s spent the last seven years living her life while waiting for one man. Now that he’s back, she’s got her work cut out for her. He’s scarred and angry, and stubbornly convinced they can’t be together. She’s more than happy to educate him otherwise.
Every beer, every prank, every kiss brings him closer to where he’s always belonged. In her life. In her arms. In her heart.
Asher fears the darkness inside him can’t be contained. But Grace won’t give up on him without a fight.
Author’s note: A brooding, wounded hero and the woman who won’t give up on him. A pack of unruly, prank-loving brothers. A wild neighborhood rumor mill. Spectacular BFF banter. This is a love story about soulmates that delivers the heat and all the feels. The Bailey Brothers series is meant to be read in order and Fighting for Us concludes Grace and Asher’s happily ever after.

This is the conclusion of Asher and Grace. What a gut wrenching and intense conclusion to their story. We pick up with Asher getting out of prison and determined to stay away from Grace. Well that lasted about 2 seconds! Asher tried because he thought he was doing what was right, he wasn’t good for her anymore he was damaged. Grace saw another side to him and was determined to show him that he was worth it. To say these 2 go through the wringer is an understatement. It was written really well showing that life is not always roses and you cannot just pick up where you left off. I am happy I found this author.
Grace & Asher come full circle when Asher comes home. Can they find their groove and continue their love story or will Asher break her heart again…grab the tissues and a comfy chair to find out the exciting conclusion of their awesome duet
In the previous book, we met the two close and friendly families: the Baileys and the Miles.
Asher and his four siblings were raised by grandparents after the sudden death of their parents.
In Tilikum, they became friends with Grace and were friends for all sorts of play, and as they grew older, the love between Asher and Grace blossomed.
Only as adults they had the courage to admit their feelings, Asher bought her a beautiful ring, and together they promised to buy an old house in town, get married and build a future together.
However, an attack, a fight and a death caused Asher to be arrested, and he would be in prison for 8 long years. So he broke up his engagement to Grace. She deserved someone better than him.
But that wasn’t Grace’s idea.
She never took the ring off her finger, bought the house of promise, and decided she would wait for Asher as long as it took.
He was released with a 7-year sentence. Prison life hardened the easy-laughing boy.
Before, he had been a jiu jitsu champion, and for that reason, in prison, he had to defend his life several times by being provoked and ambushed.
Upon leaving prison, being picked up by his brothers, he didn’t want them to even mention Grace’s name. To him, she was married and happy.
But by being as stubborn as he was, Grace was going to show Asher that they still had a future together.
I don’t know why I didn’t know this author yet. From the very first line I felt attached to the story, the plot, the characters.
A perfect balance among comedy (perfect family dynamics), romance (perfect couple together) and mystery (the seek for treasure). It also talks about friendship, new beginnings, gossip, destiny.
And about the Baileys, let’s not forget the wonderful Gram, a wise, active and loving woman – as well as a wonderful cook.
I’m sure you will also fall in love with this series.

I’m so pleased this book as in 2 parts. With so much left unsaid in the first one. I felt this completed Asher and Grace’s story
I read this ridiculously fast as it was a brilliant page turner.
Thank you for a great story. Onto the next in the series

Asher and Grace share their amazing story with us. It’s full of heartbreaking and beautiful moments and it’s impossible not to experience what they feel and think.
Asher’s adaptation to his old life is shocking. I was able to relate to everything he felt. It was powerful. Grace had also a life moment where it was impossible not to connect with. Her patience and devotion surprised me and I loved how she made him better. She was his safe place.
I also love the town! I wanna live there, with the feud, those amazing Baileys and the Gram
Asher and Grace will make you feel so many things that you won’t want to put their sorry down. I kept reading wanting to cry and at times even scream. Wanting them to get their crap together because they are each other’s person. What will happen? Read this to find out and prepare for a binge read. That’s how I’m spending my weekend.
After reading book 1, I could not wait to read what happens next with Asher and Grace. The author did a great job with the storytelling and portraying Asher’s darker edge as he tries to transition to life outside of prison. Emotions were raw and so realistic and I could not stop reading. I loved how supportive and optimistic Grace is and how she fought for their future. I really enjoyed their interaction with the other Bailey brothers and with Gram. I am loving this series and cannot wait to read Evan’s story next.
After Book One, I knew Asher and Grace were headed down a tough road. Grace is strong and all that, but who could put up with the raging personality of Asher, fresh out of prison who seemed to live to fight anyone. She felt his anger but loved him anyway. Both were living nightmares of men holding her down in an ally and him beating the perpetrator to death. Gram is there for her five cubs she has raised since their parents died and she is there when they get in trouble. I loved Gram! This story will make you laugh out loud and then grab a Kleenex. I loved “seeing” the Miles family again and enjoyed the families growing gang of kids. Thanks for a great book and now let’s hope Book Three brings Evan an HEA.
After SEVEN years away, Asher finally comes home to his family and small hometown. He is a completely changed man and can’t get comfortable settling into his old life. He struggled, to say the least.
He never would have dreamed that Grace waited for him, but she did. And when it came to convincing Asher he was worth it and they really were meant to be together, she had her work cut out for her.
Like Protecting You, this book ripped my heart out and stomped on it. But Grace and Asher finally get their happily ever after and, y’all, it’s a good one.
Fighting for Us is a love story that reminds us of the power of commitment, patience, and unconditional love.
What a way to kick off the Bailey Brother series!
Audiobook Review
Overall 4 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 4 stars
What an emotional conclusion to Grace and Asher’s story. There are lots of highs and lows in this one that will have readers feeling all the feels. I liked that the conflict was more internal for this couple, as they tried to confront and overcome their personal demons. I felt that the story unfolded in a realistic way and appreciated that there wasn’t some magic bullet that righted all the wrongs. Our characters struggle and stumble, but that only made me root for them harder. Plus, the chemistry between Grace and Asher is scorching hot and some of their scenes will leave you a little breathless.
I will say that my favorite character of the book though is probably Cara. Any time she was on the page she completely stole the show. Cara brought some wonderful comic relief to the story and I loved all the sparks between her and Logan. I’m hoping to see things progress between them as the series goes on. The narration by Aaron Shedlock and Samantha Cooke was outstanding again and they were the perfect Asher and Grace. Fighting for Us sets up future books very well and I’m looking forward to getting to know each of the Bailey Brothers better. The epilogue has me dying to start broody and grumpy Evan’s book right away!
Note: Fighting for Us is not a standalone and should only be read after enjoying Protecting You first.
I want you to take the very best qualities of our favorite Miles men and put them all in one body and name him Asher Bailey.
Both Asher and Grace are fighting their own demons facing the past in order to have a future. It is heartbreaking yet beautiful at the same time. Claire has a way with words that makes the character’s pain your own.
The banter, holy crap! It is Ah-may-zing! Claire knows how to have you crying your eyes out one minute and ready to pee your pants laughing the next. If you thought Cooper was a hoot, oh lord you are not prepared for the Bailey Brothers. When the Miles Family finally meet Asher, it is perfect and cue one of the pee your pants moment that involves Cooper and a Bailey.
This story is everything that we have been waiting and more for ever since Grace Miles first stepped foot on the Salishan property.
I can’t wait for more of these books and see just what kind of trouble these boys get into. It takes a quiet a woman to capture the heart of a Bailey and Grace is the first of many. This series is one you don’t want to miss.
This book! I absolutely loved the continuation of Asher and Grace’s story! It was raw, heartbreaking and real! No one would expect an immediate adjustment coming out of prison, and Claire does such a fantastic job with Asher! There is so much that both Asher and Grace have to overcome with him coming home and it isn’t glossed over. My heart just broke for everyone…it wasn’t just Grace that was affected by Asher in prison and we see this with everyone throughout the story. This book has so much heart and soul, and it wrecked me in the best way! I cried way more than usual in a book, but to see the new beginning made it worth it! I love all the characters in this book and can’t wait for the rest of the Bailey Brothers! I will always carry this beautiful story with me!
The Bailey’s and Miles’ are awesome!
So this is PART 2 from the first book in this series. Again, I am not much of a fan of the books that have more than one book to conclude a love story. I typically steer clear of books that end in cliffhangers (Book 1). HOWEVER, I am really glad I started this series. I LOVED Asher and Grace’s story. They definitely had their work cut out for them after the tragedy they both went through. First off, there is NO CHEATING, no other women/man drama (Thank God!). There is some push and pull in their relationship but of course there is a HEA!
Fighting for Us (Bailey Brothers #2) by Claire Kingsley is a contemporary, second chance, small town romance told in first person, dual POV. This is book continues and concludes Grace and Asher’s love story, and should be read after reading Protecting You (Bailey Brothers #1). The bulk of the story takes places seven years after the previous book.
After spending seven years in prison, when Asher gets released a year early, he’s not prepared for life on the outside. In order to survive, he had completely cut himself off from his family and friends, not accepting visitors and not even reading their letters. Asher is not the same person he used to be; prison has changed him. Now that he has a criminal record, the dreams he once held are no longer an option.
Grace has spent years faithfully waiting for Asher’s release. She’s excited for them to finally start their life together, but it’s not that easy. While Grace saw prison as a delay in their relationship, Asher saw it as the end. He says that she should have moved on and she still should, that he’s changed too much for them to be together. But Grace has changed too. She didn’t give up on Asher while he was in prison, and she’s not about to start now.
What will happen as Asher adjusts to life outside of prison? Will Grace be able to break through to him? Can she convince him that their love story isn’t over? Or will they discover that they’ve both changed too much for it to work? Read the book to find out.
I loved Grace and Asher’s love story! The path they take is far from an easy one. It’s full of bumps, twists, and obstacles, but eventually leads them back to each other. Both have inner demons to face and internal battles to fight on the road to recovery. It’s heartbreaking and intense, but their story is ultimately about hope, second chances, and enduring love. I highly recommend it! There’s a mystery thread introduced in this book that remains open. I’m looking forward to finding out more in the upcoming Bailey Brothers books.
Asher’s struggles to adjust to life outside of prison are superbly depicted by Claire Kingsley. His Gram, brothers and Grace are there for him every step of the way but Asher keeps them all at arm’s length. Grace refuses to give up on him or their love. It’s an extremely rough and rocky road filledi with deep emotions that they travel to finally achieve the happiness they deserve.
Asher Bailey.
That man.
You know he’s something special. You just have no idea how much he’s worth fighting for.
He’s so good. And loving.
He just has trouble expressing that these days.
And I don’t blame him.
He’s not the same man from seven years ago.
He’s lost some of that innocence. But he’s worth every page. And every minute you spend with him.
Honestly, I didn’t believe I could love a family of characters more than Claire’s Miles Family. I just didn’t see how it was possible. But just even getting a glimpse of the rest of the Baileys in Asher and Grace’s story, they are going to be just as loved. I dare say maybe even more loved!!! And not just the Bailey Brothers. Gram and Cara often stole the show! Cara is #BFFgoals
The conclusion to Asher and Grace’s conflict in this second book was intense, heartwarming, tearful and everything I could have hoped for. Their struggle, Grace’s undying commitment and perseverance, Asher’s fears of not being enough, his adjustment. Everything was SO real.
This series/book is a MUST read. Definitely read the novella, book 1, for the beautiful, touching history of how Grace and Asher began
We finally get a closure of Asher and Grace story. And it was WONDERFUL, it gave me all the feels. A story that brings romance, love, angst, drama, a lot of fun, pranks, mystery and so much. I only have the best praises to give to this book. Now the Bailey Brothers become my new obsession and I need to read their next books, I have so many theories!
The love between Asher and Grace is an epic one. As Asher leaves jail after 7 years, due to a strenuous situation, he is back home, but now he has to learn what happened to everyone, but also find himself again, trying to leave his demons hidden. More important, he was not prepared to find Grace Bear waiting for him, with his ring on her finger.
After so many years, everything that Grace thought would happen when she saw Asher again didn’t. She doesn’t know what to think, but her love for Asher is so strong that she’s willing to give him space and time, even if that’s the last thing she wants.
Both of them are so precious and my heart broke in a thousands pieces with them, all the things they’ve been through, she was assaulted and he went to prison. But most important, they both needed to learn how to cope with that. Their love is so pure and raw, true soulmates.
The side characters were amazing. I started with Logan as my favorite, but by the end I can’t even choose between the Bailey brothers. Grace best friend Cara is also extraordinary, I wish she was my BFF, and her interactions with all of them was spot on. But Gram? She was perfection and the glue to all of them. The story wouldn’t be the same without her. Plus the feud between Bailey and Haven, the mystery about Eliza, it all sums to a MUST READ books.
The ending was spot on, I wish I could have learn more about their future now, didn’t want to find out in the next books, because I already miss them! And the epilogue? Little evil Claire! I want Evan story, I’m dying of curiosity.
Would you wait for your other half after the unimaginable has happened? How long would you stand by and fight for what you once had? Grace is left waiting for Asher to return after he’s out in jail for protecting her. What should have been considered self defense has sent him away for years, and before he was taken he stupidly set Grace free. Now he’s back and he’s a completely different person than the man who saved Grace, but the boy she fell in love with is still hiding inside.
I absolutely loved Grace and Ashers story. Yes it gets a bit heavy, but not in a dark kind of way. They must both figure out who the other has become while they have been separated. Neither is who they once fell in love with but the beauty is watching them both fight for each other, and for themselves. An amazing story beginning to end.
