Nicole Flockton has done it again with this one. She made a love match that isn’t all hearts and flowers. It’s real. She gives us a broken man who is suffering day-to-day with PTSD. Who’s accepted being alone and never finding love. Than she gives us a h who moves to a small town and learns how to spread her wings and grow without her family looming over her. She learns that dreams can change especially when a tall, dark and troubled stranger crosses her path. This is the kind of love that comes with challenges, a lot of challenges. But as long as they’re together, they can conquer anything. It just takes time.
This is a love story that I really enjoyed and recommend. I did find a few typos but I received an ARC so it could just be my copy that has the errors. The story flowed really well and the characters were well developed. And even though they have an insta-attraction they actually get to know each other first before taking the next step. Now this is the last book in a co-author series and each of them are considered stand alone’s. I haven’t had the chance to read the other 5 books yet but this one is spoiler free. So if you decide to read it out of order the only thing you’ll learn is that the other firefighters have already found love and that’s all.
Happy Reading Everyone
I consider this book safe to read. No cheating and No OW/OM drama. It’s truly a story about the H and the h finding each other with a little action/angst thrown in.
*I received this ARC for my honest review*
This book is part of one of Susan Stoker’s “world” series. This time it’s the Police and Fire: Operation Alpha series.
Though it’s book six of the series, it’s a stand alone. I haven’t read the previous books and had no problems with it.
The story centers around Buff/Mitchell Alexander and Nadia Fletcher.
Buff os a former Army surgeon suffering from PTSD, and still not able to fully adjust to civilian life. He spends his time working at his family’s dude ranch and being a volunteer fire fighter. His days as a surgeon are long gone.
Nadia is the new ER doctor in their small town. A job she originally wanted as a stepping stone to a large city hospital , like the one in her hometown of Boston. But the more time she’s in town the more she questions that plan .
These two meet not in the best of circumstances but a PTSD attack and later working together after a tornado, brings them close.
Will Buff take the steps to overcome his attacks? Will Nadia leave him behind for a prestigious job in Boston? Or will they be able to get their HEA?
Aside from an engaging story, it’s also a reminder of the effects war has on the brave men and women that put their lives in danger to keep us safe. Are we doing enough as a nation and society to help them recover?
I was entrusted a copy of this book. the opinions expressed are solely my own.
This was such a short sweet romance with a little bit of steam. Buff fights Nadia at first but he cant fight fate and a natural disaster. Which knocks some sense onto this scared, hard headed man and then he goes after what he really wants. Nadia saves Buff countless times and even tries to save herself from getting heartbroken but again you cant fight fate or a natural disaster.
Buff and Nadia’s romance was marvelous. Set in the aftermath of the tornado that wiped out Tarpley, it’s about hope, facing demons, healing and finding home. Nadia “sees” Buff and his struggles but not once has she ever judged him. She becomes the impetus for him finally seeking the help he needs. She’s at a crossroads too. Does she pursue her career plan or does she stay where she’s found happiness and love?
He is a firefighter who saves her and her friends in a bar that gets demolished by the tornado he is a trained surgeon but after his last deployment he has flashbacks and has a hard time getting out of them She is an ER surgeon on loan from another place but she helps him conquer his pasts they have sizzling romance and a happy ending
Who is Michael “Buff” Alexander? What does or did he do for a living? What experiences has he gone through and what is he going through? Who is Nadia Fletcher? What does she do? How does she meet Buff? I like Pops! Who is Cerise? Dirty-D (Dex) is okay. Where are Kerrville & Tarpley? What happens during Trivia Night is so funny! Then it turns scary as all get out. What happens when a trip to San Antonio is made? I loved the HEA!!!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin’ With M. Brennan.
Nicole does it again! This book was amazing! It gave a realistic view of PS TD while also jacking up the action and romance. I adore these characters. I can’t wait to read more about them and their friends in future books.
This is book 6 in the new Police and Fire Tarply series. Although it’s book six I had no problems reading it. Nichole gives us a story that centers around Buff and Nadia. She’s a ER doctor who left Boston for a small town and to get away from her family. Buff is a former army doctor who suffers from PTSD and comes home to work on his families dud ranch and try to get his life together. He works part time for the fire department I like the way we see how they come together when a tornado hits the town. I really liked Buff and Nadia’s characters and how their relationship grows.
Nadia Fletcher’s roots and family are back in Boston. When she wasn’t accepted for an Emergency Room residency at any of the hospitals in the Boston area Nadia accepted one in Kerrville, Texas. She isn’t ready to turn her back on her Boston roots just yet though. After all she is a diehard New England Patriots football fan. But Texas is growing on her. She is enjoying her job and all the experience she is getting at the Hill Country Medical Center ER which she wouldn’t be getting in Boston. She has made some great friends in Texas and the icing on the cake is Mitchell “Buff” Anderson. He’s one hot cowboy member of the Tarpley Volunteer Fire Department. She is definitely attracted to him and is hoping the attraction is mutual
Oh yeah! The attraction is very mutual. Buff Alexander is an ex-Army surgeon who suffers from PTSD. He finds Nadia to be someone who soothes his psyche when a PTSD episode ensues. Plus she is drop-dead gorgeous! Thanks to Nadia’s encouragement Buff is seeing a therapist and is even considering going back to being the excellent doctor he is.
Fighting for Nadia by author Nicole Flocton is part of Badge of Honor: Tarpley Volunteer Fire Department, a world where authors enter into author Susan Stoker’s Badge of Honor series and write their own stories. With Susan Stoker’s permission, and encouragement, of course. This group of books centers around the Tarpley VDF which was featured in one of Ms. Stoker’s Badge of Honor books. There are six authors participating centering their stories around Tarpley VFD. Nicole Flocton’s story is the warmhearted adventure of two doctors who meet at a Tarpley town event and sparks fly. I liked how this author gets to the heart of how difficult it is for a person to deal with PTSD but also how wonderful it is to find a special someone who grounds the PTSD sufferer and makes the nightmares become a little better. Both Nadia and Buffare strong characters, very giving and dedicated. I really liked them.
