Rick Williams is big, bad, and not someone you want to have as an enemy. As part of the elite Wilde protection team, his job is to kick butt and take names. Protecting and defending—that’s part of his package deal, … defending—that’s part of his package deal, but his cases don’t usually involve him protecting someone like her.
A crime princess with a body made for the sweetest sin.
Kathleen O’Shaughnessy is the daughter of an infamous mob boss. Her father made sure that she was locked away from the world so Kat didn’t exactly have easy street growing up. Now that her father is dead, she’s suddenly out on her own—and she’s the target of every enemy that her father made in his very long career.
Keep the princess alive. Keep his hands off her.
The government wants to use Kat as a witness to take down what’s left of her father’s organization. To do that, though, Kat has to stay alive. She’s not big into the whole witness protection scene. Boring guys in cheap suits aren’t her thing. Kat needs protection that’s a bit…Wilder. Good thing Rick is up for the challenge. One look at Kat, and her protection—and her pleasure—are at the top of his to-do list.
It’s not the beast that needs taming. It’s the princess.
There are seven days until the trial. Seven days in which Rick has to keep Kat at his side day and night. It should be an easy enough task…but when the bullets start flying and they have to go on the run, Rick finds out that the protected “princess” isn’t who he thought. Kat is about to wreck his world, and it’s gonna be one heck of a wild battle.
He’ll do whatever it takes…
He’ll fight hard and he’ll fight dirty to keep her alive. And he’ll also fight with every bit of his strength to win Kat’s heart. The beast is falling hard and fast…and his princess holds his battered heart in the palm of her hand.
Author’s Note: Are you up for a twisted and hot take on a wild fairytale? Rick might be a fierce beast, but when the man falls, he falls hard. Prepare for an alpha hero, dangerous fun, hot romance, and some bad guys that are on the scary side. FIGHTING FOR HER is a stand-alone read, no cliff-hangers.

It’s obvious from the very first meeting between Rick and Kathleen that they have some serious chemistry going on and that these two strong, bold characters are going delight readers with an enjoyable reading experience. Their romance starts off with sparks flying in every direction as Kathleen proceeds to tell Rick and everyone else that she’s not going to be miss meek and quiet. Delightful, chuckle inducing clashes between these two are spread throughout the story along with steamy passion and emotional turbulence and readers can’t help but feel as if they are part of their story as the Rick does his best to protect the spitfire.
The plot is faced paced and full of thrilling excitement as Rick and Kathleen barely stay one step ahead of the bad guys and the suspense begins to build as it soon becomes obvious that they can’t trust anyone. The danger escalates with lots of hair raising and nail biting events along with some unexpected twists which ensures that readers can’t possibly figure out who exactly wants her dead and who wants her alive and readers definitely don’t want to miss one second of this thrill-a-minute read.
OH MY GOODNESS PEEPS! I LOVED THE EVER LOVING HELL OUT OF FIGHTING FOR HER BY CYNTHIA EDEN! This book took me by storm with a heroine who is incredibly strong, smart, feisty and brimming with secrets and surprises. Rick is the type of growly hero I absolutely swoon over and delight in. To me he is gorgeous, wonderfully strong, surprisingly sweet and who turns out to be a REAL prince charming because he is honest, protective and loving.
The newest Wilde Ways book had me in love with the action packed plot and the crackling and fierce romance. There wasn’t a dull moment to be had and with every turn of the page there was heat, jaw-dropping action and plenty of twists that kept me on my toes. I ADORED it! Cynthia Eden continues to be my FAVORITE romantic suspense author of all time thanks to Fighting For Her!
This book gets a WILD FIVE BEASTLY STARS!
One of the things I love about Cynthia Eden’s books other than her writing (which is so damn good) is her characters. It doesn’t matter what she writes her characters always make her story. They are so easy to connect too!
With saying that I wasn’t sure at first about Kat. How can you make a mob bosses daughter be good? I guess by not making her 100% good, just 95% good. Her wiggle room for being bad is enough to make her a very fun character.
I totally loved Kat. Her one-liners cracked me up. At times even I forgot the dangers she was in because of them. You really learn that there are so many layers to Kat. She’s really not what she seems.
I also loved Rick. He’s such a wonderful guy. He’s good at his job and cares about the people around him. He too has a sad back story just not as sad as Kat’s. Right away you can see that even though he doesn’t believe for a minute that she’s into him he still puts his life on the line for her.
The action in this one is non-stop and you are kept on the edge to who’s the bad people are. I loved that about this story. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the story. I couldn’t stop reading it until I was done.
In the end, there is a fun surprise for readers (I’m not saying what it is) but it holds, for me at least one of the funniest scenes of the book. Don’t look or rush to the end to find out what happens, enjoy it as the book unfolds. This is the perfect story for an afternoon read.
Fighting for Her kept me on the edge of my seat and kept me wanting more to find out what happens next. Rick wanted Kat the moment he saw her. Once they went on the run they had to stay that way because the person that was trying to kill her was constantly on their tail. The FBI and Wilde Security couldn’t trust each other because someone shot up Kat’s hotel room on their watch and someone broke into Wilde Security.
The chemistry these two characters have steams off the page. At some points I felt like the pages were going to catch on fire. I thought it was interesting that everyone trying to protect Kat was from her past in some way. Throughout the book I never felt like someone that worked for her father was after her, it had to be someone else. In the end, when we find out who the bad guy is, I never suspected it would be that person. Fighting For Her is a great addition to the Fighting For Her series and another win with Cynthia Eden.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is Cynthia Eden’s fifth book in her “Wilde Ways” series. The center of this series is Wilde Securities, which provides bodyguards for people who need them.
In this story, Kathleen “Kat” O’Shaughnessy is the daughter of a mob boss who was recently murdered. Even though Kat has led a sheltered life, she has still seen a lot of people do many illegal activities. Therefore, she has offered to testify against them which places her life in serious danger.
When the book opens, Kat is under the watch of the FBI. However, seven days before the trial, her secret location is compromised. At that point, she is removed and placed under the care of Wilde Security.
Kat is a beautiful woman who was never allowed to go out independently into the world. I love that Kat, in spite of that, is an independent “bad girl” who refuses to knuckle under to anybody. She is aware that her life is in danger and that she will probably die after her testimony, but she refuses to trust anyone but herself. Therefore, Kat does anything she can to run away from her bodyguards.
Kat’s bodyguard from Wilde Security, Rick Williams, thinks of himself as a beast with no redeeming qualities. He is big and tough with a loud mouth and very little tact. He is fearless and refuses to give in to Kat’s tricks to escape from him. He also believes no woman could ever love him.
This story is an absorbing story of two people who slowly fall in love with each other. However, it is also filled with adventure and action and non-stop twists-and-turns. It is a page turner which includes lots of violent and non-violent encounters between Kat, Rick and Kat’s enemies!
Cynthia Eden skillfully depicts the transformation in Kat and Rick’s personalities as they slowly fall in love. She also adeptly creates a complex plot that includes characters from Kat’s past, and intertwines them with her current story.
The characters of Kat and Rick, and the heavy action in this book, have made this a page-turner that I could not put down!
If I were to go into witness protection even for a week like Kathleen O’Shaughnessy had to in Fighting For Her by Cynthia Eden, I would want Rick Williams to be the one in charge. This story gives us a strong, take-no-prisoners Wilde Securities agent who can be counted on keeping Kat safe. In addition, Kat is not wilting heroine, she can be tough if needed also a little wild if she is in the mood.
A lives-on-the-line story that has steamy romance with Ms. Eden’s signature alpha male and strong if sheltered heroine. It’s not the church that they must get to but the court room. Suspenseful, action-packed and scorching hot from beginning to end.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Kathleen “Kat” O’Shaughnessy is the daughter of a murdered mob boss. She was protected all of her life, loathing the business her father was in, but unable to escape the life. After his death, she agreed to be a federal witness against the mob and now her life is in danger. When the F.B.I. can’t keep her safe, her case is turned over to Wilde Securities. Her bodyguard is Rick Williams, a rough and dangerous man who promises to keep her safe…as long as she follows his rules. Kat has never been much for rules and knows that all the rules in the world won’t keep her safe. As they wait for her court appearance in seven days, they run from repeated attempts on her life. Is it the “Ghost” who has been sent to eliminate her or the new head of the syndicate? Her testimony or twenty million other reasons could have signed her death warrant. A wild ride from beginning to end as they run from danger and their growing attraction. I am hoping for more books in this wonderful series. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
I love the Wilde Security series and this one was no different They always have heroes and heroines that you wither love or hate no half measure with these characters
In this story I actually hated Kathleen (Kat) O’Shaughnessy at first she came across as a self centred spoilt crime princess but she actually grew on me so that by the end I was wanting her to have her happy ending. She is the daughter if a crime boss recently killed and she has decided to turn evidence to get out of the crime world The FBI have had enough of her spoilt ways so they ask Wilde Securities to take care of her witness protection.
Rick Williams is the agent from Wilde Security who is given the job of protecting this spoilt princess. As danger gets ever closer and they realise that they have a leak somewhere he will step up and keep her safe and in the process that he can be the prince charming to her princess.
Whoa! Talk about action, drama and romance! This was all three…on steroids!
When Kat agrees to testify against the mob, her life is in serious danger. Suddenly, there are assassin attempts from every direction. When she loses her FBI detail in favor of a walk and brownies, they turn her over to Wilde Securities. Now, a growly, grumbly bear of a man is in charge of her protection. He doesn’t trust her and unfortunately, she’s going to have to prove he has reason not to.
Man, I loved Kat. She was snarky and knew how to take care of business. She had this lighthearted way of dealing with the men around her that were driving her crazy.
”He towered over her. Glared. The man loved his glares.
She gave him her sunniest smile in response.”
Her initial character profile is nothing like the true Kat and I loved all the little surprises we get as we learn more about the real her.
”Fear was pretty much her constant companion. She kept her mask in place, made jokes all the time, seemed confident because the truth was that she didn’t want anyone to see how terrified and screwed up she was.”
Rick was the epitome of an alpha hero. Despite his beliefs regarding her in the beginning, from the first moment he learned someone was out to kill her he went into full protective mode. The deeper their relationship grew, the more intense those protective instincts became.
”I want to rip apart any a—ole who gets too close to you and not because I’m supposed to be your bodyguard. Because I’m getting too possessive around you.”
Within all the action packed pages is the romance brewing between Rick and Kat. In true Cynthia Eden fashion, the chemistry between this hero and heroine absolutely sizzles from their first meeting and grows exponentially as the story progresses. There is so much danger around them and a definite future of them being separated once she goes into the Witness Program.
This has a ton of action as Kat and Rick try to find a safe place to keep her until her court appearance. Pinpointing who the bad guys are was impossible. With all the twists and turns you may guess right at one point but will change your mind a few pages later. I love when a book does that to me! From the beginning this story takes off and never slows down. Never. It’s one thing happening and before you recover, something else is happening. I loved every wide-eyed scene and can’t wait for more, especially concerning the new character we were introduced to! Bring him on Ms. Eden!
Ok Kat, the heroine here is one who you will either really like or want to throttle. Kat is a pampered Mob princess and now that her father has been murdered she has gone to the authorities and is ready to testify in court. Now obviously there’s going to be people out there who really just want to shut her up and as she’s a huge pain in the backside and her whereabouts have been compromised the FBI decide to let Wilde Security handle her protection.
Ex firefighter Rick is not going to let the snarky, gorgeous Kat run rings around him the way she has the Feds ! Rick is determined to protect Kat even if she does seem to make the craziest of choices considering she’s got a target painted on her back. Trouble is Kats location gets blown yet again which means there’s a leak and going on the run is their safest option . With twenty million dollars missing though is Kat really innocent ?
Considering that Kat knows she’s in danger she does the most idiotic things at times. I just didn’t really like her and I just found her confusing. Rick seemed to see himself completely differently to the way everyone else did and honestly I didn’t think he was as unworthy as he seemed to think but a little angst obviously helps readers to connect with his character. I did like that the author gave us his thoughts though and Rick has his reasons for usually keeping his distance but he certainly struggles to keep his hands off Kat which leads to steamy times aplenty.
Obviously my not liking Kat does colour my opinion but I can say that we get a lot of Cole in this book which obviously has whet my appetite for when he gets his own book. What I found very interesting was a new character who is introduced and I foresee his personality rubbing several people the wrong way which will be a lot of fun to read about. So my final thoughts are if you enjoy sexy romance with suspense , drama and a little humour thrown in then this book might appeal to you
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Fighting For Her by Cynthia Eden is the 5th book in the Wilde Ways series. It’s also the best one so far!! It will appeal to anyone who likes Romantic Suspense with a side of spicy sex. Kat O’ Shaughnessy is in FBI protective custody. She’s a Mob princess but she’s not safe.
Rick Williams is a security agent and ex firefighter sent in to protect her. Her secrets could get them both killed.
Instant attraction, snarky dialogue and intense action keep you turning pages.
Cole plays a big part in this book and I hope his book is coming next.
I absolutely love Jimmy/ Ghost I can’t wait to see more of him. I can see him driving Cole crazy, He had some chemistry with Layla hopefully we’ll see where that goes. Maybe with her and Kendrick. No matter I’m ready for the next book. Please keep going!!
It was amazing.
This is an amazing series. Fighting for Her is Rick and Kat’s story. It was a fast-paced, suspenseful read with great characters. From the beginning until the end this is a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I want to say this was my favorite because it was an amazing read but, this whole series is one amazing read after another. If you like Romantic Suspense then you will love this book and this series. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Kat is the daughter of a mob boss and when he’s killed, she goes to the authorities and tell them all she knows. And it’s a lot. But now she has a contract on her head and someone thinks she has her father’s twenty million dollars. Rick is an ex firefighter but works for WILDE AGENCY now. When her last place was compromised, the Feds hire Wilde to protect her and that’s where Rick comes in. The hit man still manages to find out where she is and they realize they have a leak. Will Kat make it to the courthouse to testify or will the killer get her first?
If you want romance, suspense, and action, this is the book for you! I believe this is my favorite so far. A woman who was kept hidden from the world and a man who is suspicious of people.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Bookfunnel *

Review Super steamy and laugh out loud moments between Rick and Kat. They are perfectly matched for each other, even if they don’t think so. Lots of suspense to keep you guessing all the way. I hate to see this series end….but…maybe it’s not over yet?
Rick had been pretty much just a name rarely mentioned until the previous book, when we got a glimpse into him, so it was nice learning more about him and his growly self. Kat was not the easiest character to love, but she grows on you over time. The twists were interesting, and Ghost kinda cracked me up. Good stuff!
Good story with lots of suspense. Enjoyable read.
This book had a lot of action and suspense as to who really was running the show. Rick and Kat were very complementary of each other. Good character building for both of them and how they each needed each so much
Another great read! This time it’s Rick turn to fall in love. I adore Rick with all my heart and he found his true love in a mob’s daughter, Kat. Kat needs to be protected from the many people gunning for her and Wilde security has been tasked for the job. Rick steps up to be her bodyguard 24/7. Filled with action, suspense, betrayal, murders and some hot steamy love scenes. I love this crew so freaking much! And that Ghost? Yes more Ghost please, Lol. I can’t wait to see who ends up being his Achilles heel, Lol. 4.5 stars for a wonderful read!!!!
P.S. What about Cole? Is he going to get a HEA?
Rick is amazing, I am so glad he found Kat. Their story was so good I could not put it down. I was so hooked by their whirlwind romance and chemistry. I loved the suspense that was woven throughout their story. I highly recommend this book.
I’ve loved the Wilde Ways books up to this point, but I just didn’t like Kay at all, and Rick was okay. The combo was nothing I cared about. Todd’s the end it was interesting, but that’s just because Cynthia Eden knows how to put together a story. Unfortunately the characters just didn’t connect to me on this one, but I will still read the next one.
