I am an eighteen year old high school graduate who has just experienced my first… well, everything. I would give anything to hold on to Cooper but we made a decision. After thirty hours of falling in lust, after tonight we are parting ways. I am starting college and I can’t be distracted. Besides he has his own life to get back to. The moment I saw her I knew she was the one but what my heart … one but what my heart wants it doesn’t get. I know how life works. I have been fighting most of my life. My dad was a fighter and so was his dad. I watched my mom cheat on him and in return he destroyed her. I will never do that to a woman. I get thirty hours with Liz and then we are both walking away. At the end of the day, all we will have is the memories we have created here in Miami.
Five years later Liz runs into Cooper only he has no idea that memories weren’t the only thing they created in Miami. He broke her heart once the day he left and her heart is now guarded. Will he succeed in winning her heart back a second time? The only thing he knows for sure is that he is fighting for a second chance and this time he will not let her go.
This book is a 80,000 word full length standalone novel with a HEA.

If I could just write that I really, really, liked this book, liked it so much I loved it, then I would. But I highly doubt that would help anyone, and the runner of the blog I review for, wouldn’t like it. But I can’t find the words to explain exactly how I feel about this one.
It was sweet, but it wasnt.
It was nice, but not.
It was easy, but hard.
It was just crazy amazing.
Lizabeth, or Liz, is finally graduating high school. Soon enough her and her best friend, Kayla, will be spending some time in Miami before they head to Vegas for college and to start their new lives. Not being the partying time, but more of the book nerd, all she wants to do is lounge around the pool and read. But Kayla has different plans. A wild night out drinking with fake ID’s and partying is exactly what Kayla thinks Liz needs. Even with being unsure, Liz goes along with it. She finds herself on the dance floor of one of the hottest clubs, only because they were invited in by someone from VIP. Next thing you know, she is in the arms of the stranger from VIP, Cooper. With the first look, she’s lost.
Cooper is instantly drawn to Liz. Lust at first sight. So he invites her and Kayla up to join him and his friends. He finds out, neither of them will be in Miami long, he’s there for work, she’s there for play, so they decide to make the most of the thirty hours they will have. Not knowing those thirty hours and their meeting, will change the course of so many lives. Not exchanging full names, or contact information, they each go their separate ways. Not being able to keep each other off their minds, they know what has to happen when they meet again by chance. But one of them isn’t ready for it all.
Second chance romances are my favorite, and Fighting For A Second Chance, has just moved up the list to become on or my faves. This book has so many different aspects, twists, turns, and heartaches.
Liz is such a strong young lady with amazing head on her shoulders. She goes through one of the toughest things, and does it with pride, strength, courage, and faith. She doesn’t let anything stop her or bring her down. If she was a real person, I would want to shake her hand.
Cooper! Oh em gee, Cooper! There are book boyfriends, and then there is Cooper. His strength, his heart, his determination, his passion, his bullshit, his insecurities, his troubled past, everything is just perfect. Perfect, because it makes him, HIM! Definitely book boyfriend, scratch that, book husband, worthy. Everyone should meet Cooper.
Oh my! I knew I would love this series and to start off with such a bang was amazing!! I love reading from this talented author!!
Liz is the typical high school graduate who decides to go for one last party before college and gets a huge surprise! I really love how everything progressed and even with so much going on, I fell for each character hard. Liz is an epic woman and becomes even stronger than she already was at the beginning. Her friendship with Kayla is inspiring and something I’m sure everyone aspires to be like.
Cooper turns out to be nothing like I thought he would be and in some ways not for the better. I really loved how Liz and Cooper met but several times I wanted to slap one or both. He turns out to be this incredible guy you only dream about meeting and just makes you swoon each time he talks.
I put off reading this series because I needed time to dedicate to them and boy am I enjoying every moment!! So many shocking things happen I never thought I would see and can’t wait for more!!
The summer before she starts college, Liz goes on a week long trip to Miami with her best friend. One night they go to a night club where Liz meets Cooper. They spend the next two nights together where she gives him her V card (unbeknownst to Cooper). They both know that they just have these two nights so they walk away without any last names or contact info. Five years later Liz is roped into attending a MMA fight where she sees Cooper again – as one of the fighters in the main event.
I have made it no secret that secret/surprise baby is one of my favorite tropes and this one had me smiling the entire time I was reading it. I loved Cooper and Liz so dang much. I loved that she didn’t hide anything from him when they reconnected. I loved that she was open and honest with everything. He was a ding dong that needed a good punch with his wishy-washy behavior but he pulled his head out of his ass eventually and boy did he man up and make me love him. I adored this book so dang much.
I was hooked from the first chapter!! Cooper and Liz’s chemistry is intense and absolutely beautiful. Their story is intriguing and riveting. A moment in time left them with a lifetime of memories. Incredibly written and captivating.
I just finished a reread of Fighting for a Second Chance and I was reminded how much I LOVE these books!!
Liz and Cooper meet at the beach – she is with her best friend for some fun before starting college and he’s there with some friends.
They have the most amazing chemistry and spend a couple of very passionate days together. Full names or numbers are never exchanged and they go their separate ways. Then, after two blue lines, college looks a lot different than what Liz had planned.
Five years later, they come face to face again in the most unexpected way. Commitment is still not something Cooper sees for himself – but after some time AND a spunky little girl he loves more than he ever thought he could – he’s not sure he could make himself walk away. Even if he still thinks he’s all wrong for them.
Watching this family come together was the sweetest thing. There’s a lot of back and forth. And it takes Cooper some time to realize what he has with Liz and Bella. But watching him with his daughter *swoon*.
This is just the beginning of the amazing stories in this series. You won’t be able to stop until you experience everyone’s HEA.
Love ‘Cooper’/Liam and Liz. And all the secondary characters. I have a feeling I know how the start of Bentley and Kaylas book may become. I love how adorable the family is. Bella is so stinking cute. Love how all the guys live Bella too. It’s adorable. Just shows that fighting for what you want and never giving up gets results.
They got together for 30 hours, in Miami. They both agreed that it will be a one night stand. In the morning he leaves with just a goodbye note. And days later she finds out that she is pregnant, she has no contact info, but she tries as best as she can to contact him. When that doesn’t work she raises her kid on her own.
It’s all going well, until five years later when she runs into him. They end up in bed again and before she can tell him, he pushes her away.
They have a second chance, but it will take a lot for him to overcome all his insecurities.
I live fluffy contemporary books and while I liked the storyline, there were a few things that I dislike, like his indecisiveness and his father…
Loved it
Beautiful love story. Absolutely loved Cooper. Amazing man. Every women’s dream man. It took Liz a while to realize it but finally did. Liz and best friend Kayla go to Miami and meet Cooper and Bentley! Liz and Cooper spend 30 hours together. Don’t Exchange last names or phone numbers. Liz and Kayla move to Las Vegas to go to ULV and have no idea that that is where Cooper and Bentley are cause Cooper is a fighter and Bentley works at Coop’s father’s gym and that Coop is a famous fighter. After Liz and Kayka move to Vegas she finds out she’s pregnant and now has a beautiful 4 year old daughter. A friend talks Liz and Kayla into going to a fight cause she works at this gym. They go and come to find out the Championship, famous fighter turns out to be Cooper. Cooper and Liz see each other for the first time in 5 years!! A beautiful standalone love story with a HEA!!!
OK, I thought this one was boring, too much drama over nothing, I got the impression the author watches way too much reality TV because that’s the way it read to me. There were places where the book could have had some good legitimate drama that were dropped or glossed over. I also had a problem with the ridiculously precocious child, Bella yack! Can we have a less cliche name please? I also did not like how the parents just dotted on her and gave her every darned thing she wanted because how could they say no to that face? Please.
I got so tired of everything being beautiful and him calling her babygirl. This book seriously needs a good editor who would have crossed out sooo much for rewrite.
I liked it. Read all 5 to enjoy this group of men & women & their families.
Decent storyline but writing felt stilted. Still enjoyable
Enjoyed reading this book.
I really enjoyed this book is soo romantic and sweet I ve never read ahout fighting or UFC and really really liked it I ended up reading the whole series what I really like is that we get to know what happened afterwards woth the kids that’s amazing I really love this series and the way the books are written really catchy
4.5 “Baby Girl” Stars
I discovered Nikki Ash in 2018 when she released Heath, a co-written book with K. Webster. Since then, I’ve read a few of her most recent books and fell even more in love with her writing. I decided to read some of her back list novels starting with the Fighting Series and OMG… what a great decision it was. Fighting for a Second Chance was such an enjoyable read!
Liz and Cooper’s dynamic, even though it’s insta-lust / insta-love was really believable and powerful from their first meeting! One shared night changed their lives forever when they created the most precious little girl, Bella. The thing is that after their one magical night together, they separated without any way to find each other. Five years later, they meet again by chance and their second chance at love starts!
Cooper is the perfect specimen of a man with an alpha personality mixed with a very caring side. As much as he feels the special bond with Liz even years later, he’s plagued with doubts and fears ingrained in him from his upbringing. He has a long way to completely trust the woman of his dreams and it creates some friction between the couple with misunderstandings. The moments shared with his little girl had me swooning hard. Let me tell you that Bella is one of the most endearing child characters I had the pleasure to read about. There’s just something about her that had me smiling and laughing from her cute actions or remarks. She really stole the show for me! Liz and her friendship with Kayla was just so amazing too. The girl truly has a fantastic and supportive friend and I’m intrigued about her own story with Bentley 😉
Nikki Ash is seriously becoming one of my favorite go-to authors when I’m looking for a sweet and steamy romance! I’m so glad I picked up this brilliant book and I’m more than ready to dive into the other stories of this series! I know I’ll love them because I’m already addicted to this world and all its characters.
30 hours does not make a relationship.
30 hours is a wicked layover, a nasty hangover, a stomach virus. Or in this case the most memorable night of her life.
30 hours with a man that changes her whole life. More than a one night stand but not by much…
Fast forward to a mess of complication, some required adulting (totally a verb), and Liz is in the middle. When her friends demand she take a break for a night out, she never expected to see HIM again.
Remember those complications…they just got a whole lot bigger.
I have to say that the style of writing could use some finesse and the characters could be deeper but as a fast, fun read it was entertaining.
reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood
Fighting For a Second Chance is the first book in this series. Cooper and Liz meet and have a thirty hour fling only to not see each other for years. Cooper and Liz had instant chemistry. I loved them! They were great together! Bella was so adorable! Looking forward to reading Kayla’s book!
Cooper is a fighter! Not just in the Octagon, either. Once he stops being hard-headed he goes after what he wants.
Liz is such a strong woman. Shy at first but stepped it up 🙂
This story had some twists that I was not expecting, at all. It played out great in the end and was a very good read!
Ready for the next one.
I’m always a bit wary when buying a book by a debut author because it can take time and practice to find your writing style and voice. This time I thought what the h… And I do not regret it. Nikki Ash might be a debut author but with this story I can’t wait to see what her future brings.
I really really liked (ok loved) this book.
Could a 30 hour one night stand turn into something more? I loved Cooper and Liz, their story of a second chance at love is believable and heartwarming!! Great writing by one of my newest one-click authors!!
