Some people get a tattoo – a piece of art that enhances or reveals something about them that they like. Other people, like me, are branded by something – actions or words. “No one will ever love you, Rowan, you’re not worthy.” Those are the words that created my blemish, my scar, my mark upon my soul. They were words whispered by the woman who should have loved me most. But in the darkest moment … moment of my life, one where I stood abandoned and alone, one man proved to me that she was wrong.
When I desperately needed someone, MMA fighter Jackson Stone crashed into my life. He wasn’t the one who should have been there, but he was exactly the person I needed He believed that only fools live in the past. He showed me that a real relationship is full of dreams, faith, trust and passion. He taught me that love is worth fighting for – even when it’s unexpected and more of a collision of hearts and souls. He proved that the wrong man at the right moment can heal everything.

Absolutely loved this book! It was such an emotional ride that had me hooked immediately, the growth the characters go through is aspiring and admiring the plot sweet, romantic and exciting. The female lead was incredible I adored her independent strong willed personality striving to do and be better and healing from such an emotional upbringing. The male lead was incredibly swoon worthy a fantastic alpha male that’s protective, strong, respectful and loving, very mature and determined. The supporting characters were hilarious and amusing to read about looking forward to their personal stories. A recommended read.
Story contains a sensitive topic that could be a trigger.
Wow these two have a love that most wish they could find.
Tessa has never really had love other then her twin Tyson and in her darkest moment she meets Jax and he is there for her , even when she doesnt want him to be
LOVE love LOVE Jennifer Miller! Fighting Envy was a sweet sexy romance and was my first Jennifer Miller book. It will not be the last. She is so talented! I have to also mention that there wasn’t any extra drama thrown in to make things tough, no silly misunderstanding that throws a wedge between them. Some stories have the silly unnecessary arguments and that screams forced. In a part where the heroine finds out that the hero was looking out for her but didn’t tell her, she saw it for the caring and sweet gesture it was! Jennifer Miller is a five star author for that alone.
Adorable- My heart just melted every time when the big, bad ass, seasoned fighter interacted with the tiny baby girl. Thanks to this I loved Jax character, he was amazing not with just the baby but Rowan too. Who is at first a complete stranger to him he still stays and helps her. He is the shining star of the story.
Heavy- Generally I would say that this book was a quick and light read, yet there are a couple of elements discussed in it that make it feel heavy at times. For example Rowan’s issues with love which are presented in a bit of an overwhelming way.
Friendship- There is a lot of interesting supporting characters in the book especially the other fighters in Jax’s gym. I loved the bond and the camaraderie they have between themselves and they are a great addition to the story.
Interesting- There are a lot of surprising twists that make the story really exciting and while the focus is on the romance between Rowan and Jax the plot has plenty of other elements that makes the book engaging. I really enjoyed it, this read was highly entertaining.
Quick- It’s a relatively short book with a great dynamic and a gripping storyline which means you easily can read it in one sitting. There is also no over the top drama in it to slow it down.
Sharp edges- I really enjoyed the story and it was easy to read but there is no question, the writing style has a couple of sharp edge that could use some refinement.
Unused potential- I think there was a lot of unused potential presented in the story that could have given it a bit of an edge. For example the thing between Jax, his dad and Cole.
Absolutely loved this story! Rowan & her twin brother Tyson grew up feeling worthless due harsh & vile words they’ve heard from their mother over & over again. Rowan meets Jax at the worst moment in her life. It takes her a while to realize he’s her lifeline, and that he’s not going anywhere, no matter how many times she pushes him away. Jax is going to show her she is worthy of love. Loved all of Jax’s friends & the strong bond they have. Looking forward to reading Tyson’s book next!
Fighting Envy is book One in the “A Deadly Sins’ Series, by Jennifer Miller. This is the story of Rowan Martin and Jackson ‘Jax’ Stone. Rowan was raised by her abusive mother who always told her brother and her that they were unlovable and that no one would want them. Although Ty and Rowan are twins it was hard making it with such a mother. Rowan in the present day is pregnant having contractions when her boyfriend drops her off at the hospital and doesn’t come back. Jax after a boxing round needs stitches and goes to the hospital where he ends up helping Rowan. Jax heart goes out to her being alone but there is something more that he feels too that is making him stay.
Jax is just the best…he stepped in to heal Rowan’s heart and was there for her daughter. Just loved their story and will be hunting down more books by this author!!
Great Story Line
I laughed, I cried, I became angry! You name it, this book took me on that journey! But I’m glad I took the time to enjoy this author & these characters. Trying to decided which voyage to take next!
