FIGHTER is a hot-headed alpha-male who won’t take no for an answer Could prey and predator ever be anything more? Fighter… The club was my family, my blood, my entire world. They were the only thing I cared about…until her. Until Penny.I was a soldier for the Devil’s Highwaymen, and Penny was a job gone wrong. An order from my president: take the girl and keep her hidden until it was time to … the girl and keep her hidden until it was time to give her back. Only as the days went on, I wasn’t sure I wanted to give the fiery little brunette back.
With a mane of long dark hair, golden wolf eyes, and a sassy mouth that spat poison at me every time she opened it, she needed to learn my rules, and quick.
And if she didn’t submit?
I’d be the one to punish her.
And I’d make her love it.
Penny was a wild woman, and all I could think about doing was taming her.
Penny…
He was brutish and stubborn, moody and single-minded, and he’d protect his club at all costs. He’d do anything they ordered him to do, a machine in a man’s body clad in dark leather and chains, and now he had a single focus…
Me.
I hated him and everything he stood for and wanted nothing but to be away from him. But as the hours turned into days and the days turned into weeks, I began to feel something I’d never felt before…
A craving for his brutal touch.
His rough kisses.
And his depraved punishments.
Fighter was the monster in the dark, and I was his willing victim.

Gritty and full on story, intense from the start and I must admit some might find this tough reading in places. It contains violence and abuse but no rape. Fighter is tough, rough and he likes sex painful, he hasn’t really known any softness in most of his life and doesn’t know how to give it either. Penny has only known pain and imprisonment since her mother left her, her father owns her lock stock and barrel. He feels it is his right to do with her as he wishes, strictly controlling every part of her life. Even I found some of this hard to stomach, not that it isn’t good because boy it sure is, not all abuse comes in physical violence, there is mental abuse as well and sometimes that is worse. I felt for Penny throughout this story and at times I didn’t even like Fighter let alone a few other characters, my heart broke for her but she was strong and a survivor and she fights all the way. I do think this is a very clever plot, all my sympathy was on one character till towards the end. There are twists and turns some of which may run into the next book, but in no way can you guess where this one stops when you start reading it. I do hope to get more of Penny and Fighter in future books.
Here we are with the Nomad Series Book 4 and Fighter is our main focus here, the enforcer for his President Hardy and the Devils Highwayman club. A man with a reputation know for being brutal, a man who couldn’t care less about most things and is not afraid to get his hands dirty. The Highwaymen know things are going bad, Fighter has watched his Brother Battle forced to Flee after what went down in Battle’s story. Fighter is now tasked with trying to even the playing field, ordered to kidnap and kill a rival club’s presidents daughter Penny Benite.
Penny is a woman wanting to escape the clutches of a Father she loathes. Dreaming of freedom, she is trying to steal a moment of that when her world goes black. She wakes to find herself bound on a mattress in a room she doesn’t recognise. Her capture devoid of humanity, putting her through a level of degradation she is determined to fight. When her masked captive begins to cloud her mind things get interesting for both Fighter and Penny. I adore Penny during this time she is super feisty and she gets one over on Fighter on a couple of occasions that had me fist pumping saying Yes Girl! Fighter is a man who is used to having that control, women bow to his every whim; but Penny is not every woman. Penny fights him every step of the way and he finds himself confused, turned on and at the end of his proverbial rope. Because of her, he is a man no longer willing to complete the task his president has ordered him to do.
As the story evolves we get to see just how little respect and value Penny’s father has for his daughter. He sacrifices his own men, he uses Penny as a pawn to give away as he pleases and God I hated him. The one good thing Penny had was Scratch, a fellow club member and potential love interest; but Claire being Claire…… well that part of the story was unexpected!
Penny finds herself immersed in the Highwaymen’s world and welcomed into the family with Rider, Charlie, Gauge and Fighter. This whole section of the book brought a levity to the book I loved. The family feel it held, the banter, the chemistry, the fighting, the teasing it just swept me up and made me fall even more for a certain member of the Highwaymen that shall remain anonymous for now 😉
Of course things don’t remain drama free and a plan to keep Penny safe has serious consequences for Fighter. Penny brings out a totally different side to him than I never expected, the fierce protector, he can’t see her come into harms way no matter the cost. A man devoted to a woman that wants to spread her wings and fly, he will do anything to provide this for her, even if it means sacrificing himself to the cause.
Fighter was a little different as it wasn’t as involved in the wider goings on of the Highwayman’s business. The novel focused more on the Hero and Heroine’s story and a few central characters alongside them. This for me created a more family unit feel to the book which I liked, it fit Fighter and Penny’s story perfectly allowing their twisted tale to play out as the main focus. A story of unexpected lovers brought together with a dark beginning and slowly crawl their way into the light, with an ending that has me hoping for more of their story in the future.
Fighter griped my soul and took me on a mesmerizing ride that was emotionally charged.
I was captured from the first page till the very end and oh boy what a beautifully epic end it is. I was left satisfied but also needing more, i was left with a huge smile on my face because i just fell in love with fighter even more.
My favourite in this series so far its Gritty, angst, hot and captivatingly beautiful.
Claire is an incredible writer that really pulls me in and takes me on one hell of a journery every time and the journeys get more phenomenal.

I have been dying for this book couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
It was so worth the wait, this is the 4th book in the The Devils Highwaymen series, and what a book it is I feel as if I have been on a roller coaster of a ride with it my emotions where all over the place. This book had my attention right to the very end. Great characters, you will fall in love with I really enjoyed this story and i can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series prior to reading Fighter. It will make it much easier so you can follow along with the other characters.
Fighter’s story kind of takes you back in time as far as the club goes. The previous books are told a bit more in the future. That made it a little confusing. I wish I had done a reread of the previous books and read them all straight through.
The motorcycle world isn’t always a pretty one. The Highwaymen are absolutely no angels, and Fighter is one of the darker ones among them. The author doesn’t shy away from the rough side of their lives but she also includes a softer side of the men. A side of the members they may not share with their brothers but save for their old ladies.
I don’t want to say too much and give the story away because the unknowns are after all what makes for a good story.
Just know that there are some twists and turns and some dirty dirty scenes in there for you too. After all the story starts off with Fighter being forced to kidnap the daughter of a rival motorcycle club…. so how could it not be exciting after that start.
Totally worth diving into this motorcycle world!
