Second chance, smalltown romance.
“A true second shot will split the first arrow and create a solid path.”~Declan
The first time I read that phrase, I felt it so profoundly. Each of the 4 Arrowood brothers has a truth about an arrow that they learned as children and recited to their mother often. Declan’s truth pertains so perfectly to his story.
“I can’t be friends with him, Ellie. I can’t. I can’t talk to him and not want to kiss him. I can’t look at him and not want to throw myself into his arms.” ~Sydney
Declan and Sydney were childhood sweethearts, but one night changed everything. Declan wants to protect those that he loves to the point that he cuts them from his life. After his father’s death, however, Declan is forced to come back to his childhood home for 6 months. It is obvious that Dec and Syd’s love has not diminished, but Dec being the stubborn, mule-headed fixer that he is, refuses to see a way that things could be different. I spent the majority of the book wanting him to remove his head from his behind, and when he finally did, it was GLORIOUS, for me. Sydney, however, may have been less than eager to trust again so easily. Don’t worry though Corinne Michaels did give us an amazing HEA with no cliffhangers.
Fight for Me by Corinne Michaels captivated me right from the start and did not let me go as I devoured the pages. I just knew Declan and Sydney’s story would be emotional, heart-wrenching and heartwarming. They grew up together and seemed destined to always be together, until they weren’t. He was gone and she was left heartbroken. But now he is back and she is determined to stay away from him and protect her heart.
These characters were absolutely amazing and their connection and chemistry is undeniable. Savannah is strong and independent. Declan is determined and full of regret. He does not feel like he deserves her and Savannah just wants someone who will fight for her. Can they find a way back to each other before it is truly too late? I absolutely loved Fight for Me by Corinne Michaels. A definite must-read and I cannot wait to read more in the series!

Happy reading!
This second chance romance story is both sweet and heartwarming. But getting to that HEA is not an easy feat. There is angst, pain, and lots of heartache. Childhood sweethearts Declan Arrowood and Sydney Hastings made plans to be married after college, raise a family and settle in Sugarloaf. But plans change and Declan chose to leave town and also most importantly, break Sydney’s heart. 8 years pass and Sydney and Declan meet again…..
Declan and Sydney have never stopped loving each other but Declan doesn’t think he deserves happiness. His stubbornness is off the charts and I must admit that at times, I wanted to ring his neck. I did feel that while Sydney tried and tried to convince Declan to come back to her, she needed to just move on. But their push and pull kept them coming back to each other and eventually secrets they were both keeping came out and decisions had to be made. But their HEA still had to traverse an extra bumpy road where Declan finally figures out that he might be too late in letting Sydney know that he will and forever Fight for Her.
I know this is a really angsty story, but it is also cute and funny. I fell in love with all the Arrowood brothers, as well as Ellie, Hadley and Jimmy. The sense of family and the bond it holds is always ever present in Corinne Michaels’ stories and love that other characters from other books have connections to these new characters. You also can’t help but smile while reading even if at times you want to strangle the tall, dark and handsome green eyed idiot that took his sweet time in figuring out that his happiness was definitely worth fighting for.
Fight for Me is the second book in the Arrowood Brothers series, and I absolutely loved it!
I’ve been counting down the days to Declan & Sydney’s story, and Corinne Michaels definitely brought all the feels with this one!
As much as I loved Connor, Declan officially stole my heart. He’s intense, protective, and stubborn to a fault. I wanted to scream and punch him, then give him the biggest hug and never let go. And Sydney was even better than I was expecting. She was such an amazing character, smart & strong, and so, so loyal.
“A true second shot will split the first arrow and create a solid path.”
This story is angsty, raw, and full of emotion. These characters broke my heart, but also filled it with so much love. And I loved every second of it! This is a story of forgiveness, of family & friendship. I devoured every single page, and forced myself to put it down just to prolong the story.
I’ve completely fallen for these Arrowood brothers, and I can’t even imagine what’s in store for us next!
What I love about reading a Corinne Michael’s book- is that she takes readers on an adventure you don’t expect and she tells stories you cannot stop reading- that is what Fight for Me brings to readers.
This is a second chance story pulls at the heartstrings. Declan and Sydney have never stopped loving each other but Declan feels Sydney deserves better. They spend so much time fighting how they feel because of their pasts. She just wants someone fight for her.
The Arrowood Brothers are a complex group of guys but when they realize what they need- they are amazing. Once Declan realized how he feels and that he truly can be happy with Sydney- he goes all in!
This book made me laugh, cry, want to smack some sense into Declan and Sydney and really feel their love! Corinne Michaels delivers all this wrapped into an incredible book I could not put down!
Declan left the only woman he ever loved and now he’s in the same town all over again. He said years ago that he’d stay single but now that he’s around Sydney will he change his mind? Sydney was heartbroken after Declan left town so how will she react? Is there a possibility of a second chance?
5 He Stole Her Heart from Her Chest Stars!!!
Ms. Michaels has been teasing us for a long time about Declan and Sydney’s story and how we would be a bucket full of emotions and she was right!! This book is absolutely amazing and gave me emotions I haven’t felt in a very long time!
This is the second book in the Arrowood Brothers and we got even more details of the fateful night that changed their lives and those around them. I was bawling at certain points because these men, in some ways boys even, didn’t deserve this and Declan being the oldest is the brother who drove the outcome of that night.
I fell in love with Sydney in Come Back for Me…she’s lived in Sugarloaf her entire life and she’s love Declan Arrowood since she was a little girl. They had plans and they all changed one night and her heart cracked so big it’s still not healed. So imagine her agony when she knows she’s going to have to endure his presence for his six months in Sugarloaf. I give this girl credit she’s got a temper that’s enviable. She refuses to crack when she sees the love of her life again…but that all goes out the window one night. My heart wept for Sydney. I just can’t imagine how I would react in this situation.
As the weeks pass, as much as she doesn’t want to see him, her best friend Ellie is married to his brother and of course they have ideas of what they should be doing. And Hadley the beautiful and engaging niece of Declan is filled with life and hilarity and has him wrapped around her finger! I loved seeing him interact with her because through her he’s seeing the innocence and beauty of life…which he needs if he’s going to make Sydney his again.
As we move through this book and the time Declan is in Sugarloaf, the way Declan changes and realizes he can have it all gave me all the feels. But seeing Sydney and how her love helped heal him was something he wasn’t expecting nor felt he deserved it either. But that’s what’s so amazing about love, even when you don’t think you need it or want it, it niggles its way into your heart and you realize life could be so much more fulfilling and amazing and beautiful because of it…. Love truly can heal wounds that have been gaping and weeping for years!
As much as I loved Ellie and Connor’s story, Declan and Sydney have grabbed my heart and I don’t think they’re going to let go. This is by far in my top five of all time best second-chance love stories!!
5 Stars just isn’t enough. I am loving the Arrowood brothers so very much. These guys have such amazing hearts and always want to do what they think is the right thing at the time. No matter what it does to their own hearts in the process.
Declan and Sydney have that young love that was so deep that neither could escape it, even after 8 years apart. When these two see each other, it’s almost like no time has past. Except that hurt is very deep for both of them. Declan left Sydney 8 years ago thinking he was doing what needed to be done for his brothers and to save her from any pain and suffering. Too bad he didn’t completely realize how deep her love went. Neither was able to move on. Now Declan is back and Sydney is ready to run away this time.
But after a wild moment together, Sydney has her own secrets now and she is terrified of how Declan will react and what he will do. She wants so desperately the things that he says he doesn’t want. How will these two ever find their common ground if neither one is willing to fight for the other?
I fell in love with these Arrowood Brothers in Come Back For Me (book 1…grab it now if you haven’t yet). And that love for these men just keeps growing. I absolutely can’t wait for The One for Me…I need Sean and Devney’s book ASAP.
5 Beautiful Stars
A second chance romance like no other I’ve read before. Seriously, these Arrowood brothers are doing some serious damage to my heart. They keep taking pieces of it and not giving them back. It’s not often you meet your soulmate when you’re a little girl, but Sydney knew from the first time she met Declan that he would hold her heart forever. Never in a million years though did she think he would also shatter it, but he did. Now, several years later, he’s back and she’s doing her level best to avoid him at all costs, but like a bad penny, he keeps turning up. These two are in for the fight of their lives.
Fight for Me is about so much more than just two soulmates coming back together. This beautiful, emotional story is full of love, forgiveness, coming to terms with the past, moving forward and living life to the fullest. With each story, Corinne Michaels is creating a family that I want so much to be a part of.
Angela – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
I read and reviewed this book voluntarily.
Declan and Sydney were suppose to be forever until Declan walked away 8 years ago, with the explanation of lies.
When Declan returns home to work the family farm for 6 months after the death of his father, Sydney realizes she never left Declan in the past, she still loves him; and she knows he still loves her, he just cant bring himself to admit it. She’s willing to fight for him, but is Declan ready and willing to fight for Sydney?
Corinne is the queen of angst and all the feels. She sucks you in makes you laugh, cry, and want to throw the book across the room, but you can’t because you have to see what happens next. Fight for me is no exception.
Sydney and Declans story is angsty and fun. Once you break the book open, plan on losing time until you get to the end.
Wow! Fight for Me is an incredible second book in the Arrowood Brothers Series! This is Declan and Sydney’s story whom we learn a bit about it the first book in the series. Corinne Michaels writes a deeply emotional story about a second chance at love and the trials and tribulations this particular couple goes through to get their happy ending. Sydney and Declan are childhood sweethearts, the true love of each other’s lives. It been 8 years since Declan left Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania and left Sydney’s heart in a tattered mess. Neither have been able to move on from each other over all these years and now Declan has returned and they must confront the pains and hurts of the past. This is their chance to FIGHT and what a journey it is. Declan is the oldest Arrowood brother and is harbouring a lot of guilt from the past and feels the most burden of the decisions his father made. My heart was in tatters seeing him work through it. He and Sydney are true soulmates and once he gives in and allows himself forgiveness and reconnects with Sydney their chemistry is out of the this world. So much heat and passion and FEELS. The writing is deeply emotional and heartbreakingly beautiful. I was not prepared for all the feels in this one! Get your tissues ready! An incredible 5++ star read and a top favorite of 2020!

4 angsty second-chance stars
Corinne Michaels knows how to bring the angsty feels, and she absolutely brought it with this story! The second book in the Arrowood Brothers series, this is the story of eldest Arrowood brother, Declan, and it’s a dramatic and emotional second-chance-romance that is full of angsty longing, and it’s an absolutely beautiful read.
Declan and Sydney’s story was hinted at in the first book. They fell in love as teenagers and were each other’s whole world. They loved each other completely and were planning a future together when Declan’s life fell apart, and he broke Sydney’s heart and left town with his brothers. Eight years later and Declan is forced back to his hometown, living on his family’s old farm as part of the legal requirement for him and his brothers to claim their inheritance. He’s not happy to be there, never having wanted to return, partly because of his bad memories, and mostly because Sydney is there.
“After all this time, I would’ve hoped to be over her, but then how do you really get over losing the only thing you ever wanted?”
“My heart and soul have always belonged to one person, and it never will be anyone else’s.”
From the moment we see them together, it’s clear that Declan and Sydney are still in love, and still want each other. It’s a fact that neither of them dispute, and they actually admit it quite openly. But there is a lot of hurt between them. Declan broke both of their hearts when he left, and Sydney still hasn’t fully recovered, and the feels are there from the very first moment.
“A single moment can define a lifetime.” …
“And the decision you made in that moment defined my life.”
“I was letting you go.”
She laughs once and steps back. “You knew me better than that. You knew my heart was always and forever going to be yours.”
“I didn’t deserve it.”
“Maybe not, but”—she shrugs—“it was yours, and I guess the worst part is … that it still is.”
The angst in this book! Oh my God! There is so much want and longing between Declan and Sydney, it practically drips off the page. There is page after page of swoony declarations of undying love, but Declan has his reasons for keeping his distance from Sydney. Personally, I thought those reasons were so frustrating. I got it in the beginning, I even got it when he first returned, but the longer the back and forth went on, OMG, I wanted to smack him! When he’s not being dramatic, it’s so easy between them! They have fun together, their chemistry is sizzling, they literally can’t keep away from each other, and every encounter just sizzles with the emotion between them. But he is a stubborn, stubborn man who is doing what he thinks is best . It’s frustrating, for sure, as they pretty much have the same conversation over and over and over again, but on the plus side, it allows Sydney to shine! She’s a strong woman who knows her heart, and she’s in a really difficult situation. I could absolutely understand where she was at, and I ached for her and all that she went through. But I thought she handled it all so well.
“I would’ve loved him with everything I am. I do now, but it isn’t enough. Declan and I are the tragic love story.”
As I said, there is a lot of back and forth, but their story is all about fighting for each other, and they both get the opportunity to do just that. And though it was frustrating, I loved their honesty, the way they held nothing back, and I loved that I could feel it all with them. Their journey was beautifully written.
“I love you. I love you for the memories we made and the ones I want us to make.”
We get to see more of Connor, Ellie and little Hadley, and the other Arrowood brothers come to town, and there’s a great lead-in to Sean’s friends-to-lovers story up next.
I really enjoyed this one. Probably a little heavy on the angst and drama for me, but I was there for the feels and the epic romance, and I certainly got that. The book finishes beautifully, again with the feels, and I loved seeing Declan and Sydney get the happy ending that they both deserved.
4 Stars!
Declan Arrowood grew up on a farm in the small town of Sugarloaf as the oldest of four brothers who always looked to him for guidance. He would do anything to protect them, and to save them from harm he makes a decision that changes the path of their lives. In the process he loses the only thing he’s ever truly wanted. He gives up Sydney Hastings and all the plans they made. She was his for seven years, but he no longer felt he deserved her. He leaves town and swears to never come back.
Then eight years later he’s forced to return home after his father’s death, and live in Sugarloaf for six months. He will have to see Sydney and knows it will be pure agony. He’d done what he thought was the right thing, but he still lived with guilt, regret, and memories he couldn’t ever forget. He had a successful career, but was now a cynical and hardened workaholic. He lived a life where he had nothing to lose.
Sydney Hastings is a lawyer in a small town in Pennsylvania where she has great friends, but is still living in the past when it comes to relationships. As a kid she met her soulmate and other half, and then he took her heart and never gave it back. Declan Arrowood left her with no reason, and never looked back. She gave him everything, and he ran away. Now he’s suddenly back, and she knows she should avoid him, but she has a lot of anger and resentment over how he threw her away when she thought he’d be the one person to never leave her.
At one time loving Declan had been as easy as breathing, but she’d now given up on love. He broke her heart and all the promises he made. She wishes he was still the same man who made her feel precious to him, but she hardly recognizes this man. She used to know him better than anyone, but she could never trust him again. They just have to get through six months in the same town, and then they can go back to pretending the other doesn’t exist, but one encounter changes everything, and Declan realizes he still wants her. Can they find their way back to one another and still have their forever? Will he fight for her and their future before it’s too late?
Fight For Me (Arrowood Brothers #2) by Corinne Michaels is a fabulous standalone second chance romance full of angst, emotion, hope, heartache, and forgiveness. I really enjoyed this story, and love this series! I can’t wait for more of these Arrowood brothers!!!
5 star Review Fight For Me (Arrowood Brothers #2) by Corinne Michaels
From start to finish, Corinne Michaels wove a story that drew me in and kept me captivated throughout with this emotional roller coaster of a read. This is a second chance at love story that will rip you apart and then put you back together. I freely admit that at times I was sobbing as Ms. Michaels put me through the ringer with Fight For Me and then put me back together again.
Declan Arrowood, like his brothers, had no intention of ever returning home, however, his manipulating father on his death, leaves him no choice. He left behind broken hearted Sydney who could not understand why he left her to suddenly.
Declan knows that he hurt Sydney unbearably and also understands that she still has not forgiven him, after all he has never forgiven himself. However for both Declan and Sydney to move on, they both need both need to face their past. I loved how seriously Declan takes his role of big brother and the relationship he has with all three of his brothers is heart warming.
Just when it seems that Declan and Sydney may finally get the happily ever after that they both so deserve, fate steps in. This was the part of the book that had me reeling, I couldn’t believe what I was reading and was close to yelling at Ms. Michaels.
This book is emotional, gripping, a story of love, romance and overcoming ones fears, of digging deep and facing truths and never giving up. This is a book that you need to read for yourselves and left me with a serious book hangover.
I don’t even know where to start with this amazing book. It has taking me days just to recover from reading this book. There aren’t enough words to describe how incredible amazing this it is. I absolutely love Declan. I can’t wait to read about the other Arrowood brothers. Sydney is incredible person. Loved every second. Corinne Michaels is always keeping me on the edge of my seat. Frickin fabulous. I loved every second didn’t want it to end. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
An emotional second chance story full of push and pull, an undeniable chemistry and forgiveness. You will feel the full range of emotions whilst reading this one!
Wow, this story pulled at my heart strings, and yet another Arrowood brother worked his way into my heart! 5 stars for this one, grab it asap!
Here we meet Declan, back in town like his brothers to full fill their fathers wishes. And of course he runs into his childhood sweetheart Sydney, whom he promised the world, then walked away from her. Can he convince her that his feelings are real for her, or will it be too late for him to win her back and share the life that they were meant to live together. Read this and find out, you will not be disappointed! I’m loving this series and I can’t wait for the next one to come out!
Oh the angst, the beautiful angst in this story! It was phenomenal.
This is Declan and Sydney’s story and what an emotional rollercoaster it is!
The love between Declan and Sydney spans the test of time and obstacles that circumstances have thrown in front of them.
Declan has taken his role as the eldest Arrowwood brother very seriously, sometimes too seriously to the determent of his own happiness. That is both a blessing and a curse for him. When life brings Sydney and Declan back together, he fights with himself constantly and it made me want to shake or slap him and tell him to see the happiness right in front of him, grab it with two hands and don’t let go.
Sydney is dealing with some deep-seated insecurities from the past that she is slowly dealing with. I admired how she stuck to her feelings and tried her best to give Declan chances to redeem himself.
I loved the honesty of the feelings between Declan and Sydney. They both were very open about their love for each other. I was so sad when it seemed that their love just wasn’t enough.
The surprises in this book are going to make you gasp and make your heart weep. Another perfect story from Ms. Michaels and I can’t wait to see what comes from Sugarloaf next!
This an emotional second chance romance and the second book in the Arrowood Brothers Series. This is Declan and Sydney’s story. Declan and Sydney fell in love when they were only kids. They made plans and promises but Declan broke those promises and left Sydney making new promises. Now fate (and his father) has brought him back to the town he said he would never return to and Sydney.
I love Declan and Sydney’s story. It is beautiful how fiercely they both love each other. It does take quite a bit for them to get back to where they should be and you may want to throttle Declan often but in the end they get an amazing HEA.
I am very excited for Sean and Devney’s story. I have a feeling Sean is going to be irresistible.
**I was generously provided with an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review.**
This is a really gorgeous story from start to finish. Declan and Sydney were childhood sweethearts with a soul deep connection. They are absolutely perfect for each other.
Declan’s decision changed their lives and caused a hurt so deep I wasn’t sure Sydney could forgive him. He has his work cut out and I loved his determination to see it through. He truly adores her he’s just too scared his past demons are too much to overcome. He doesn’t realise just how deep her love for him runs.
Sydney has made a life for herself, she knows what she wants and she’s strong enough to demand it. No half measures for her. She wants complete commitment from Declan and she absolutely deserves it.
The sparks really fly and their connection is sizzling hot. They’re incredibly in tune with each other and the heat pulsates of the page.
The theme of this series for me is family and acceptance and I loved how involved the rest of the family is throughout the story. We get little snippets from all the brothers and the setup for Sean’s book is just perfect. We also get a visit from my favourite CM character which I absolutely loved.
Fantastic story and I highly recommend it.
