Owen Dawson is one of Eastwood’s most eligible bachelors. He could have any woman he wants, but when it comes to settling down, he only has eyes for Charlie Williams, and he blew his chance with her years ago. While Owen is busy trying to convince everyone—and himself—that the playboy life is for him, Charlie is trying to put her life back together. After discovering her fiancé was cheating on her, … cheating on her, Charlie packs her bags, leaves her fancy New York job, and goes back to the one place she never thought she’d return to: home.
Determined to start over and stay far, far away from men, the last thing Charlie needs in her life is her first love, Owen…and the old feelings that come rushing back the moment she lays eyes on him. While Charlie swears to avoid romance of any kind, Owen is willing to do whatever it takes to prove he’s a changed man and win Charlie back…even if it means fighting dirty.
**FIGHT DIRTY is a second chance romance and can be read as a standalone novel.**

This series just keeps giving. I absolutely love the Dawson family, the dynamics, banter and just them as a whole is brilliant. These books manage to spark all my emotions and at times I so could throat punch them for some of the stupid things they do. But I always manage a laugh, even in the midst of tears.
Owens story has been a long time coming and with it I get a second chance romance which I absolutely love to read. Owen and Charlie are ment to be from the off for me, forget the failing of the past, forget all of that and just live in the moment of now.
I however did find this book falling a little short. In the story aspect, I wanted more, but for me I didn’t really connect completely with them. There was just something missing. The characters were so strong and their will was on point but I just don’t know what it was.
However I totally recommend this book and series. You can read hem all as standalones but why ever would you. The Dawson’s are great, so go enjoy them all.
I Have been waiting for Owen’s book since I first read Cheat Codes. He was the Dawson I wanted! I loved this book so much because it is so real. People make mistakes and then have to fight to fix them. Owen is husband material and I love him. So sad the series is done. I will miss this family.
I love second chance romances and seeing Owen get his! It is obvious that Charlie and Owen never got over each other but the past hurt is still there for Charlie. Charlie puts up a good fight and I loved how determined Owen was not to let his second chance slip through his hands. They really are perfect for each other and their HEA is so sweet. Another great Dawson Family love story! Hoping for one more from Emily…
This is Owen Dawson’s story of the one he let get away. Owen and Charlie we hot and heavy when they were younger but being a man Owen thought he knew better and ended things with Charlie. *cue eye roll men* Charlie moved to the city and gets engaged and thinks she’s going to get the life she envisioned with Owen but with her fiancé, that is until she finds her fiancé is cheating on her. Charlie packs up and heads home to lick her wounds and eventually finds the girl she always wanted to be.
While Charlie was moving on and moving forward Owen used their time apart to play the part of the playboy. After years to playing the part when the one that got away comes back into his life he has a hard time convincing her that they are meant to be.
I love the Dawsons family, Emily can they adopt me??? Total slow burn but when Owen and Charlie finally get together *fireworks* love this story! Love these characters!
Overall Rating:
Who doesn’t love a second chance romance? For me, I love the “push and pull” of the H and h’s feelings as they try to deny that feelings still exist. In Emily Goodwin’s newest Dawson Family book series, Fight Dirty is just that: a second chance for Owen and Charlie. It’s a story of finding love again when you so desperately want to let it go because it’s initial pain is too great to bear.
Charlie and Owen were high school/college sweethearts. They fell in love easily, and their passion was deep. Unfortunately, after college, Owen cannot commit to Charlie, and he walks away from their relationship, breaking Charlie’s heart. Charlie goes on to law school, finds a new love, and seems to have moved on. Until she finds her fiance has been cheating on her. This causes her to make changes: one of which entails moving back home from New York. In doing so, this puts her right in Owen’s path, and he has decided that she will be his again. Will Owen win Charlie back? Will they find their happy ending?
Owen has been a fixture in Emily Goodwin’s other Dawson Family books. Always the playboy, no one in the family believes he will ever settle down. He seems stuck on the path of no commitment. However, we find out pretty quickly that this has more to do with letting go of the love of his life. It’s a realization for the reader that Owen’s carefree attitude about women is really a defense mechanism for his bleeding heart. This is what makes Owen loveable. There are definitely times in the story when you want to give him a good smack because he acts so arrogant with Charlie. Quite frankly, I would have liked for him to grovel a bit more. Instead, Owen’s bravado can be a bit much at times. At least if I was Charlie, I would think so.
Charlie is a dream. She’s also every woman who has ever been spurned by a man (in this case, two). I love that she places herself on the path of self-awareness in going home. Yes, it could be perceived that she is “licking her wounds” from her broken engagement. Yet, she quickly realizes finding out about her fiance is more a blessing than a curse. If anything, I would have liked for Charlie to be more stubborn with Owen. I hated that she was so instantly attracted to him again. This is a man who could not commit to her initially, and I’d like to think that she would make him work for it more. Instead, she falls easily into some old patterns.
That being said, I absolutely loved these two together. Each makes the other one better, and I did love that Owen sought to woo Charlie. Even though she felt an insta-attraction to him, he did take baby steps to win her over. This lead to some great foreplay and passion building in the story. It’s what drove it forward.
I have quickly fallen in love with Emily Goodwin’s Dawson Family books. I love the crossovers of the characters and the continued story of past couples. I do think that Goodwin could edit out some of the day-to-day details of her characters. Yet, I will definitely continue to read books like her Fight Dirty. This is a family you don’t want to say good-bye to too easily.
I was so excited to read Owen and Charlies story and Emily didn’t disappoint.
I never thought there was a woman that could bring Owen Dawson to his knees. But Charlie did it. I loved all the push and pull there was between them….AMAZING!!1
Fight Dirty is the fifth book in the Dawson Family Series. It can be read as a standalone. Owen’s one regret in life was letting Charlie go, but now she’s home will he get his chance to get his girl back? I liked the family feel, like your standing right in the middle of it all, slow burning, the banter between characters is fun, and the one liners made me laugh. I enjoyed this second chance novel.
“I’m not that guy anymore, Charlie” “Prove it”
Charlie Williams has had her heart shattered twice. Once by her first love, Owen Dawson, and this time by her fiancee who cheated on her with his secretary. Clear sign of a tool. So Charlie decides to start over and go home to repair her heart. Owen has only one regret. He lives with his mistake everyday and pretends being single is what makes him happy, until his lost love stumbles back into his life. But he’s happy being single right? This story is amazing. Charlie is a wonderful and strong woman and so relatable. Owen is cocky sexy and dangerously hot and I love him so much! I’m not ready to be done with the dawson family but she left the best for last. You wont be able to put it down, and if you have to you’ll be mad at whatever made you put it down. Highly recommend.
Fight Dirty is so good. Seriously you will just love Owen in this one. If you read any of the Dawson family books then you know who Owen is and this is his turn with love. Might I add this is a fabulous second chance romance. Owen and Charlie have a past. Timing wasn’t right. Now Owen is all grown up and ready for more. Charlie your heart goes out to her when you find out why she returned to her hometown. I love Charlie and her ways. She is sweet and a bit sassy. Owen is very charming. Owen and Charlie have this amazing bond and you can feel the tension between them when they reconnect again. Sometimes you have to fight a little dirty to prove love is worth a second chance. You really need to experience Owen and Charlie for yourself. I loved Fight Dirty so much and couldn’t put it down.
