These series made me to be inspired and writing my own books. They are full of suspense, dark twists and turns, erotic scenes and description full of details and emotional content. The one thing I always love in this series – the meaning of love. If a man wants to be happy with his woman, wants to change himself despite his difficult childhood, he will. Everything depends on his will and strength of his character. Men who blame their women in his mistakes are weak. I suppose real men always will find a reason how to change themselves for the sake of their women’s happiness. If they do not want to, they are just selfish and do not worth women’s attention. Love is a sacrifice.
Let me begin by saying that the writer did bring me to the world of BDSM, which I knew almost nothing about, however, it was just an X-rated version of the movie “Pretty Woman”. So many scenes were straight from the movie. He played brooding music on the piano. He chose and bought her clothing to wear while she was with him. He taught her about his high society living. Exposed her to new, exotic foods. Pretty Woman it was snails. In 50 Shades it was oysters. In both they were given etiquette lessons. I can continue to find numerous parallels. The writing I felt was a bit juvenile and repetitive, almost as if a couple of sorority girls wrote it for a class assignment. There wasn’t a chapter that didn’t include her biting on her lip or rolling her eyes numerous times. I get that it was a “trigger” to Gray but the reader didn’t need to hear it incessantly. I did read all three novels for a couple of reasons. I wanted to read what was dubbed “housewives porn”, my friends read it and wanted to he able discuss the book with them and hoped the writing was better in book two. By the final book I was committed to the storyline and wanted to see how it ended. I’ve read other erotica that was better written and I don’t understand why this series became the most talked about novels.
I want to reread the series again. Among others I want to reread. I’m currently reading Beautiful Darkness second book in the Beautiful Creatures series.
Loved each book,,read them all twice.
I loved these books plus the other three books written after these. There are very few books I would re-read. These books I would read again. Great story.
I’ve read these individually years ago, but I do go back to them every now and then to re-read and just get lost. Now you got Christian’s POV, even better, when reading side by side! %-D #HappyReading
The writing is ok. The story will hold you through all three books
Omg I love love love these books. I couldn’t put them down
Horrible books, not realistic, sad to see a woman portrayed like this
Loved her books, the movies were good too.
This series gets better as you read it a second time. The first read thru I was captivated by the Sexy parts. The second time i was captivated by the Characters
Read all 4 books twice. Enjoyed a lot. Liked Christian’s point of view in the 4th book. Other wise 3rd book my favorite.
Have read the whole series… enjoyed them tremendously.
A love story if you’re not interested in all the kinky sex.
Not worth the extensive time it takes to read this series of books. The characters were not well developed. The only thing this book offers is Sadomasocistic sex.
I cannot say enough about this series! The writing is excellent, the characters well developed and the sex is on point. At its core, this series is about a man willing to change who he is for the woman he loves. I just love that. Who wouldn’t?! If you haven’t given this series a chance based on others negative opinions, I would say you’re missing out on something wonderful that has fundamentally changed my life and I suspect the lives of many others. Don’t miss out on reading this incredible sexy, haunting and romantic story.
Loved the whole series
Love these books. Steamy series
So Fifty Shades started the genre of dark-dominated alpha males that I fell in love with it. Okay so I started reading trilogy and fell in love with Christian immediately. But the first book, Fifty Shades of Grey felt like introduction to BDSM lifestyle and that was it. Then I read Fifty Shades Darker and understood the things that happened in first book and were going to happen in second book. And finally, we start to get happily ever after, than E.L. James surprises us with the villains and the climax. Yes, it is HEA. Although I also saw the movies but felt like they were going too fast for me.
Coming to E.L. James’s writing, I loved it in some places and then other places I felt it could have been better. Like I said this is my opinion, not everybody will like it but I am okay with it. Overall I give it 5***** and definitely worth reading it.
Read this series many times , great read
