When raven shifter Riley Porter was given sanctuary by the Phoenix Pack, she let them believe she had left her flock. Reluctant to divulge the secrets of her past, she was still embraced as family. Only Tao Lukas, the protective and passionate Head Enforcer of the pack, was resistant to the enigmatic shifter. Until Riley started to arouse in him something other than suspicion.Tao doesn’t trust … doesn’t trust lone shifters, especially ones so guarded—and tempting. But the sexual tension between them is making them both come undone, and vulnerable to more than desire. All Tao wants is for Riley to stay with him and to trust him with the truth of her past.
As Riley’s mysteries come to light, so does a danger that threatens not only her life but the safety of the entire pack. For Tao, keeping Riley safe means keeping her close—forever—as his mate.

I REALLY enjoyed Riley and her mate. I was actually surprised by that. Even when the animals are very different shapes, this is good.
Ever since Feral Sins and the Taryn debacle – I’ve been waiting for Tao to get his HEA. I wasn’t disappointed. I loved the way Wright kicked this one off and was all in for the rest of the story. Riley & Tao have this great – hate to want you thing going on. It’s not nasty, just they’re frustrated with themselves. I think the best part about this was that there was a strong suspense/mystery plot here as well. There’s attempted murder, a bitchy ex, and crazy flock politics (Riley is a raven). Plus! Kids. I love Dex & Savannah. I love how much Riley loves and protects Dex & Savannah. I also loved how Tao begins to bond with them too.
Jill Redfield is AMAZING. This is a HUGE cast of characters, male and female, young and old ~ and even though the packs are expanding and merging, she still manages to give them all unique voices and characteristics. You know exactly who is talking at any given time. I especially loved her “drawl” for Riley’s uncle.
Loved this cheeky Raven and serious wolf
Book 6 Phoenix Pack series Fierce Obsessions
Riley is a Raven shifter that comes to live with the Phoenix Pack after meeting McKenna.
She lets the pack think is was chucked out but this isn’t true and takes a lot of Tao investigating to find out why.
Really enjoyed how much Riley annoys Tao and how the are completely different people but compliment her other so well.
I absolutely adore the kids Savannah and Dexter brakes my heart that they don’t trust easily but love Riley and eventually Tao.
Marcus and shaya also pop into book very briefly
Great series
Fierce Obsession is Tao & Riley’s story. This is a good addition to the series but the further we go the more repetitive it is starting to seem but I still can’t help myself, I still enjoy the series and will keep coming back.
Dominic blinked at the sight of them. “Now that’s something you don’t see every day.”
As what Dominic said, we rarely see an avian and wolf shifter pairing but Tao and Riley made it work. The two is perfect for each other. I also love the snarky humor, fun characters, the suspense and Hot sex. Then there’s the kids. Kye is still my favorite but I couldn’t help but adore Savannah and Dexter they worm their way to my heart.
I seriously love the Mercury/Phoenix Pack series… Off to the next one
Fierce obsessions immerses us, once again, in the Phoenix Pack, and follows Head Enforcer Tao Lukas and newcomer Riley Porter.
Summary:
Riley Porter is a raven shifter given sanctuary with the Phoenix Pack wolves, but she hasn’t been completely honest. Riley isn’t big on speaking of her past, and she’s surprised at the warm welcome from the pack. Well, all except from Tao Lukas. The Head Enforcer is uber protective and as such, wary and distrustful of the newcomer. At least, he is until Riley starts arousing deeper and more passionate feelings in him. Despite not trusting the lone shifter with secrets, Tao can’t deny the sexual tension between them. A tension that neither can resist. It’s not long before Tao realizes he wants Riley to stay with him trust him with her secrets. He wants to see what can happen. But danger lurks as Riley slowly lets him in. A danger that could threaten not only Tao and Riley’s tenuous relationship, but also the safety of the pack. Can Tao keep Riley close like he feels the intense need to, and will Riley keep him just as close?
Suzanne Wright is obviously a Goddess of the paranormal genre. Her books never fail to pull me in, entertain me, and leave me needing more. I can’t deny that except for Feral Sins, I’ve hardly thought of Tao past the mentions of him as relates to the pack. I don’t put that down to him being any less magnetic or sexy as the others, but for the same reason others have mentioned. SW has a knack for giving just enough of the supporting characters while keeping the focus on our main couple. Just as with the other Phoenix wolves, when it was his turn, Tao shined. He is outspoken, opinionated, stubborn, dominate, and protective. Where others have held stoically to their emotions, Tao lets it rip, not caring about anyone else’s reaction. I loved this. He was direct. It was refreshing. Riley, although closed off sometimes, cared deeply for those under her protection. She was also funny, sassy, protective, and wasn’t fussed about authority. I liked her vengeful streak, and it was closely linked with her protective nature. In short, she was good for Tao and he was good for her. SW knows her way around a sex scene, but I have to say, this book was hawt! I loved Tao and Riley together. They sizzled, and all of their good-natured arguing and exasperation counted as a sort of foreplay. And wow, did Tao have some sweet lines. He’s by far the mushiest of all the guys, but still strong and alpha, and I really liked it. Overall, this was a fantastic addition to the series. The storyline kept my interest despite me knowing who the culprit was from almost the beginning. I do feel that the confrontation with said culprit was a bit too quick, though. I also have some unresolved questions about Riley’s old Flock. Who hurt Cynthia? Did she get Sawyer? Do Sage and Ruby deserve to keep the alpha pair position? Even though they are side characters, my mind keeps going back to them because I feel it’s unfinished business. I also feel that there is no way that flock could stay together with them as leaders. I don’t feel that Sage did much of anything to stop or help the situation, and surely he can’t expect their ravens to feel safe with their own daughter causing problems between mates. Anyway, it could be an interesting idea for a small spinoff. I’d like to get Lucy’s story. Tao and Riley were a fun read. I laughed a lot at their antics, and of course got a dose of our past MC’s. I’m so looking forward to our last two wolves, Trick and Dominic, but maybe especially Dominic. I really want to know who his mate is. I’d also like to beg SW to give us stories for Harley’s cousins.
When I started reading this book I wasn’t sure what to think about a raven shifter as a heroine. When I think of a raven (the bird), I can’t really say that I find them gracious or excited or exotic. But the writer proved me wrong. She managed to convince me that a raven shifter can just be an interesting shifter character as a wolf or a cat. One of the reasons that I wanted to read this book was because I have been curious about Tao’s story. His character fascinated me from the moment that I met him in the first book of this series. Just like the other characters in the previous books, Tao’s character has more layers to it than you would think on first sight. I love discovering the main characters’ secrets, their fear, their dominance and their heart.
I really enjoyed the interaction between Riley and Tao. The way how both reacted to the other and how both tried to unbalance the other with words and action. Riley is a dominant female shape shifter but she doesn’t really react like most dominant females, she has her own special way of making people crazy. I liked that very much! Tao surprised me too in a very good way. I also liked the fact that we saw more of the children Savannah and Dexter (who we met in the previous book). They are also special in their own way and very protective of Riley. It was very cute to read about it.
The story is again told from both POV’s. It was interesting to meet a totally different kind of pack in this story, we got to see the workings of a flock (of ravens). Again the story is filled with sassy women, dominant men, steamy sex scenes and some fighting scenes.
I’m really happy that I read this book.
4,5 stars
The Phoenix Pack books were my first PNR romances! I can’t get enough of these characters, so I was so excited to read Tao’s story; after all he’s my favorite enforcer!!
The interactions between Tao and Riley in the previous book, hinted that their story would be awesome!!
After a drunk night together, Tao and Riley, wake up next to each other. Riley’s first reaction is to forget what happened but Tao has none of it and wants to do it again. In his mind, Riley is his!!
Riley has secrets and she’s skeptical about opening up to Tao. He was hostile to her when she first got there and that’s why she doesn’t “like” him. Tao is not good at relationships, so he wants something casual with Riley.
Her past is coming back to haunt her. There’s someone out there targeting people and she’s in the middle of it. Tao’s instinct is to protect her and that’s exactly what he does.
I loved seeing Riley interact with Savannah and Dexter. The fact that both kids are protective of her is so cute!
I really liked the story. I was curious to see these two different species interacting and finally mating. There are so many things going on and I was interested from the start. I laughed so hard at the end when Riley talked about the deja poo feeling; I’m totally using that
I seriously love these books and I’m off to the next one soon!!
As many know, I don’t read a lot of MF books anymore, since I am very picky about them. I will always read a book written by Suzanne Wright though, because she has always been one of my favorite MF authors. I have read almost all her books and I will continue to do so in the future. What can I say…I am a huge fan !!!
I have known Tao, since he was introduced in book 1 of the Phoenix series. I have always wanted to know more about the Head Enforcer of the Phoenix pack.
Riley, a raven shifter, has only recently (previous book) moved to the Phoenix pack. She was taken in by the pack, because she came with two young shifter children, who were given sanctuary by the pack.
These didn’t start off on the right foot. Tao strongly distrusts strangers, especially lone shifters and he didn’t want Riley anywhere near his pack. That doesn’t mean he didn’t think she was hot though.
After Riley has spent some time with the pack, Tao slowly starts to trust her and even like her….he was already very attracted to her, so now…he just needs to make a move…which is exactly what he does.
Riley loves nothing more than antagonizing Tao. It brings her and her raven much pleasure. She can’t deny being very attracted to the man though…So once the ice is broken and Tao suggests they take things a bit further, Riley figures…why the hell not. It’s not like it’s anything serious…….
I really liked Riley. It is always very hard for me to like a heroine, which is why I am such a big fan of this series and the other ones written by this author. She writes about very strong females, who don’t take shit from anyone. Riley was funny and kickass.
“You better hope you are never on fire, Tao, because I’m more likely to relax and pull out some marshmallows than to help you.”
Everyone who has read Suzanne Wright’s books, knows that they are extremely HOT. This one was no exception. I was, as usual, blushing my way through this one.
“I’ll fuck you in every way I can have you. And then I’ll do it again and again.”
There is a whole background story going on, about Riley’s former flock but I don’t want to spoiler the whole book. It’s best to read it for yourself. These books can be read as stand alone’s, though you wouldn’t know all the sidecharacters (and there are plenty), so I would advise reading the whole series. You won’t be sorry 😉
I myself hope there will be plenty more books in this series and all the others. No one does shifters, vampires and demons like Suzanne Wright does 😉
My reviews are posted at WendysWyckedWords @wordpress.com
This is Tao and Riley’s story! Yay…another well written and filled with action, killing, sadness, betrayal and most importantly love. The one thing I did like was that their mating bond slammed into place and there was no other matters impeding that from happening for once. Lol. A great story! 4 solid stars.
P.S. I adore Savannah and Dexter so freaking much!!!!
As a huge Suzanne Wright fan I tend to read every book of hers that I come across. So when I seen and grabbed Fierce Obsessions from Netgalley I did a little happy dance. When I seen it was Tao’s book I did a happy squeal. Like always Suzanne Wright delivered a great read that made me laugh out loud and kept me happy for hours. I have been wanting Tao’s book for a while now. I have loved him, Ryan, and Dom since book 1. Now I just need Dom’s book and all will be right in my world. I wouldn’t mind Trick’s book too. I can’t wait to see if Trick ends up mated to a male or female.
Tao was Tao. I already loved him. As a reader of this series I have had many books to get to know Tao and fall in love with him. He was just as great in this book as he was in the others. Strong, outspoken, fiercely protective, loyal, and sexy as hell. Riley was great too. She was funny, laid back, had a sassy mouth, was a kick butt fighter, at times a little closed off, but protective of those she loved. Riley and Tao together had me laughing so hard. They picked on and fought with each other like foreplay. I thought it was hilarious that Riley would steal Tao’s things and make up random statistics. They had a great relationship build up and a strong connection. The passion was of course great because Suzanne Wright knows how to write some smokin’ hot smexy time.
I really loved getting to catch up with all the past couples and the kids. Trey and Taryn are of course my all time favorite couple of the series still, but they are just so epic. I enjoyed Riley’s uncles. I kinda wanted them to join the Phoenix pack too. I really loved the kids Dex and Savannah. They just have such cute personalities. There was plenty of ass kicking action in this book to keep it from getting boring. I really loved that Riley was kicking butt with the best of them. I especially loved how when some one ticked her off she would just grab em by the throat. The throat grab upped her awesome points in my book. Overall a great addition to this series. I can’t wait for the next book. Here’s hoping it’s Dom.
Awesome book!!!
Great series
