Liza Street is one of my favorite authors. She writes a good love story. Her characters are relatable and I enjoy learning about them. This book does not disappoint. It has great characters and a good story. i would recommend it.
This is actually the continuation of the story of Ava & Jude, Sierra Pride Book 0.5, which I got free. They were high school sweethearts but Jude was forced to break up with Ava by the pack alpha (hence the title). This book takes place about 6 years later, after the old alpha dies. I’m reading this after it, and after Fierce Wanderer (Fierce Mates: Sierra Pride, #1) about Jude’s brother, Blake, because I like the fast action and hot sex when fated mates meet and mate. This book picks up a few months after Book 1 as Ava returns to town with her daughter Chloe. It takes a while but [spoiler alert] they finally resolve their differences and things look bright for their future together.
Jude Fournier broke Ava Strickett’s heart six years ago and it took her months to recover. Now she’s back in town and as soon as she sees him, she knows that she never really moved on or got over him. However, she has a secret that can change things, as does he.
This book is the second in a series and is a great read. Second chance love is one of the best in my opinion and this book does it very well. It was well-written with wonderful characters. I was pulled in from the start and read it in one sitting. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order for the most enjoyment and benefit.
A lot of fun watching the characters work through their confusion, you can’t help but feel for them, and root them on.
This series is full of adorable and sweet romance mixed with shifters and a dash of conflict. I really loved this one, the high school love renewed and the single mother aspect were all just great.
Jude and Ava had been together when they were in High School. Jude up and left Ava after that. Ava was pregnant with Jude’s baby though he didn’t know at the time. Ava comes back to town with her daughter for her dad and brother funeral. But, there are things you can’t stop from happening and Jude found out about his daughter. He also found out that Ava had been divorced from her husband.Ava why he left and he had a secret that was hard to tell her. Jude knew he would have to tell Ava because of Chloe
Fun filled story of second chances. The spark between Ava and Jude is still there, even after all the time they were apart. I loved the storyline and was happy with the way the book ended. Great read.
Who is Ava Stricket? How does she know Jude? Why is Ava in town? What happened with her father and brother? Think back to book one. What does her uncle and brothers think happened? Why do they head to the ranch in the middle of the night? What does Jude learn when he goes to talk to Ava at her mother’s home? Who is Chloe? This turned out to be a very sweet book. What happens when Gabriel comes home is downright interesting.

I love the concept of heartbreak, separation and then reconciliation and a rekindling relationship. The whole plot idea is bound to and should bring some drama as well as a stronger connection and emotion into the new relationship. That is why I love the concept so much. Because in a way that drama and heartbreak builds for a more enjoyable plot and romance. If it is done right that is.
Fierce heartbreak was supposed to be just that and in the first two chapters when they met for the first time, after the breakup and a long separation, it was as well. The story did not follow through after that sadly. I missed out on the drama, the development of a rekindling love and the passion the book should have given me. All that lacked for one big reason; It was too rushed and short and therefore there was no room for a natural development or reconciliation between Ava and Jude. It was basically they met, argued a bit, confessed and then everything was lovey dovey between them again. It was just so unsatisfying and underwhelming that it was just a huge lady-boner killer for me. When Jude revealed why he dumped her she just forgave him like nothing, despite the fact that he broke her heart just because someone told him to. The same with Ava’s big secret. She was never going to tell him about “it” (no spoilers here) despite how huge part he played in it and after being angry with her for like a second he suddenly forgave her like nothing.
Although a extremely forced developing relationship and disappointing romance, I do have to admit that the book wasn’t all bad. The writing was fine even tough rushed. And there were times the story got my attention. Had it not been so short and if there had been given more room for the drama and a more natural storyline I might have given the book at least four stars. As it is now it is at 2.5 stars.
