Bryce Fierce seems to have everything a woman wants. Brains—he’s a certified genius after all—good looks, a successful career, and a family name many wanted to lay claim to. But what he really wanted was someone who was interested in him and not what he could offer. So he came up with a type and that is what he was going after…too bad for someone who was always right, he found out how wrong he … he really was.
Payton Davies was the girl many envied from a distance. Blonde hair, blue eyes, a killer body. Men wanted her on their arm for show. Even her parents told her to use what God gave her to get ahead in life because her intelligence—or lack of it—wasn’t benefiting her. What she wanted though was someone to be there for her. To appreciate her for who she was inside, not what she looked like, or judge her on any inadequacy she possessed.

Smart and Sexy
Bruce was the really smart middle brother, but he has been used by women that he is gun shy. Payton is beautiful, runs her own small business, but to many people don’t see past her looks. Diane has made it her mission to marry off her boys and sets the ball rolling on these two. Great story.
Pretty good book where the mom is trying to marry her boys off. Bryce is a chemistry professor at Duke. He always had brains thru school, and the girls only wanted to hit on him to get their homework/assignments done. That’s not who he is. Payton’s a pretty girl, but she had trouble in school. It wasn’t till late they found out she had deselxia. She had a cafe of sorts and that’s how they met. Sweet HEA.

Well, book two of this series was better than the first one. This one flowed better, but I still felt there was too much repetition. The main characters, Bryce and Payton, I believe were too hung up on their flaws and past relationships.
I understand that most people are, but I cannot believe that Bryce would, with the way he was raised by loving and caring parents. Now Payton’s upbringing I understand her hesitance, but she had the love and caring from her Aunt. I understand that the author needed to put some barriers to make the story have something to overcome, but I thought it was forced and didn’t make sense sometimes.
Overall, I connected more with Bryce and Payton than the first book. I will read book three as I love stories of coworkers who are “enemies” then fall in love.
Bryce was used for his brains and Payton for her looks. He was smart and loved to learn and girls either used him to try to get ahead in their classes or to try to get ahead in life and felt that by being a professor he was limiting himself financially. Payton has trouble reading and calculating because of dyslexia. She’s been told she’s a dumb blonde all her life by her parents, men she’s dated, and the public she deals with at the deli she owns. That she runs her own successful business should make her confident, but all the put downs have lowered her self-worth and she wonders what a smart, well-to-do, and handsome man like Bryce could ever see in her. There were several moments where he put his foot in his mouth and I felt they both should have communicated better. But there were plenty of funny moments too with his meddling parents, brothers, and cousins. It was great to catch up on the lives of the Fierce five and their expanding families.

Grant and Diane Fierce have 3 boys, Bryce is the middle child. Diane watched as her sister-in-law found matches for her nephews and saw them married. Diane has decided she wants grandchildren and it’s Bryce’s turn to be matched.
This story has 2 characters that are totally different, but share many personality traits, I think that makes the story more relatable. The characters are great, although Bryce is different than the rest. I think the whole Fierce series are great books full of feeling.
College professor falls for cafe owner after his matchmaking mother throws them together. Of course the course of true love is hampered by the secret she is keeping from him and because of her low self-esteem brought on by horrible parents.
The mother is ready for her children to get married and provide her with grandchildren, so she decides to take matters into her own hands just as her sister-in-law did with the Fierce five. She is very inventive and her sons are oblivious to her matchmaking skill.
This is an easy to read series by this author. All of the books are standalone, but if you start at the beginning, you get to know the people before their time in the hot seat. As an added bonus, the series is currently available on Kindle Unlimited.
