I don’t see dead people.I see you.I see every incarnation of you.I see the history of your soul.I can see your aura soaked in the blood of your previous lives. Most people are inherently good or evil. Some flit between darkness and light.Few can change the fabric of their essence; it’s a fight that most are too weak to win.He was once darkness. An evil so pure that his very soul is black and yet I … that his very soul is black and yet I am drawn to him like a moth to a flame.
Some days, I feel like I am drowning, the waves of my feelings stealing the very air from my lungs.
Other days, I feel nothing at all.
I’m unsure which is worse; gasping for air or dying from this thirst.
Can you learn to breathe underwater when you find someone worth drowning for?
Feyness is a dark romance standalone.
Readers of a sensitive disposition may want to step away from the book.

This is extremely -like black vs white, right vs left- different story for author ES Carter. The question is: Did I like it?
Yes.
Can I speak about the book without feeling like I’d give spoilers? No. This is hard part – I feel like anything I give to support my review would be a spoiler for the readers journey. What I can say is that ES Carter provides a story where the reader you take a journey – not in the movements or actions of the characters – but what these characters think and feel. You learn about past and present. The whys and wherefores of the actions that drive them slowly unfold as you get deeper into their character.
This story is: Very Dark, Extremely Disturbing – not some but most of the time, Cringe Worthy, and yet… Heartbreaking, Revenge Seeking and Hopeful. Yes Hopeful.
If you are looking for something dark yet different, look no further. If you are looking for another contemporary romance with HEA, go look somewhere else. 5 out of 5 breath taking (literally) stars
Vividly gruesome. Captivating world-building. In the darkest corners of romance, this sexy imposing antihero will steal your heart.
Beautifully written dark love story. Not for the faint of heart, but so poetic and engaging, you won’t mind the scenes that make you cringe. This is Book One in the Red Order Series by ES Carter. Don’t pass this one by!

5 Amazing Dark Stars !!!
Dayuum what did I just read! How Dark can you go?! This is by far the darkest and most detailed book I have read. I freaking love dark and taboo. This book even made me squirm at the graphic detail. So, with all that said, Run away now If this isn’t your type of book. BUT, If you love to dive into the Deep Dark Depths of Evil, Torture, Taboo with a smidge of ‘romance’ and a hell of a lot of Jealous Possessive qualities and ALL the feels … RUUUN, grab this book and set aside some time because you will Not want to put it down (get toothpicks for your eyes lol).
Mind. Blown. Can I say it again? Mind. Freaking. Blown. Heard about Feyness through a takeover on fb… found out it was a dark romance. I instantly wanted to read it. Of course, I had no idea that it would be the darkest book on my read list thus far. As in: take a break and gather yourself before you turn the next page kind of dark.
Feyness follows Faye, who is promised to her father’s best killer. We enter on the day of her wedding when she meets our hero (I use that term lightly, lol), Cole. He has no desire to be with Faye, she is a means to piss off his enemy. He just has no idea how she would flip his world upside down.
I CANNOT reccomend this book enough! But, that’s only if you’re okay with dark romance. Don’t take this warning lightly. If you’re squeamish at all about blood and gore do not read this book! But if you’re cool with that then read this book now!!
Faye is the only child of the ruling underground criminal leader of the Red Order in the UK. He has decided to gift her as a wife to his top enforcer and second in command, Luke. Luke has the looks of an angel, however his personality is darker than Satan’s. While her father hopes this marriage will make him more powerful, Luke has other plans. Faye has a gift to see the true person through their auras and Luke’s is not the warm fuzzy vibrant yellow she had hoped.
The overall theme of this novel is super dark. Women are treated like objects and are used thusly. Even Faye cannot escape the primitive treatment of women. From the beginning of the novel the reader is able to see how Faye is just a commodity for her father. As the novel moves forward we learn of all the ways Faye is used by people, including her own father and her new husband, Luke. There are graphic details of murder, sadistic sexual acts, physical violence, domestic violence and pedophilia. This novel is not for the faint of heart and I do not think the subsequent novels will be. I found the writing solid and I was engrossed in the story. I do believe the “evilness” of the criminals is what we suspect but are too polite to mention. However I do not think I can read the other two novels which center on Luke’s biological brother and his friend due to the violence those characters displayed in this novel.
This book will stay with you long after you finish it.
I started reading this book and was instantly hooked!! This dark romance is dark and steamy, with a variety of scenes and actions that leave you breathless (some not always in a good way!) I was hooked and read right through until the end. Loved the story and the ending!
Every word had me captured that you forget how beatuiful dark this book is. And the story takes you on a amazing read that will have you hooked and loving this book in one setting.
What an intense, dark, complicated, unsettling fantastic read. Some times it was hard to put the book down and other times I had difficulty reading the gruesome words. This is not my typical genre, but I love e.s. carters words so I stuck with it. As unsettling as it left me I already have parasight ready to read.
Faye Craven was born in a world full of depravity and immorality, her father king of all that is corrupt. In an attempt to escape, she is bestowed a preternatural gift. While she may have not had to participate among the killers, rapists and paedophiles in the despicable and lewd acts; her father has a plan for her. She has been given to his second in command, Cole Hunter, to wed. Faye can see the blackness that swirls around his presence, it’s the same soulless substance that surrounds her father and his subordinates. What sort of vile proclivities will Cole force her to endure?
Cole Hunter has the mask of an angel but the darkness of the devil. He is a monster who kills and inflicts pain with no remorse, one who lives by his own set of morals. Once he is married to the Craven whore she will be his to ruin, to destroy completely. A pawn in the pursuit of retribution.
This story is deliciously dark and tantalizingly twisted. It also sets up the plots for the following stories in the series. The only criticism I have is that I would have liked the story to explore more of Faye’s fey capabilities. This is my first read from this author and I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the story!
This book was good a little dark but good
Could not put it down but was somewhat anticlimactic
I could not put it down. This not for the sensitive . It is eye opening .
It was very dark for me and I like dark romance typically. Would have given it more stars as the writing is great but too dark for my personal tastes.
Absolutely amazing book. Awesome world building. A bit dark and graphic, but the author does give a warning in the beginning of the book. Refreshingly original and twisted.
Good read. Had everything I liked, Romance, suspense and entertaining
Wow! What a ride!
Having read ES Carter’s Love by Numbers series, I knew the writing would be good, but this book is dark, and has a very different feel to it. There are scenes of graphic violence – the men from this book revel in it. There are scenes where you fear for Faye.
‘Tonight, Cole Hunter will take me as his lawfully wedded wife. Tonight, my father will finally get the son that he’s yearned for his entire life. Tonight, I will no longer be me. I will be owned. I will lose the moniker of Faye Craven and become a Hunter. A more fitting name would be prey.’
The story begins at Faye’s wedding. Her twisted, heartless father, head of a dark controlling society, is marrying Faye off to Cole Hunter. A ruthless killer, one of Alex Craven’s top men. Faye is swapping one controlled life for another – she has no freedom.
But this story does not go the way you think it will. It’s quite a ride through the dark. There’s lots of tension, as you wait for things to happen. This book really gets the adrenaline going, and your heart pumping. It’s hard to put down.
Although this book is a stand alone, I’m really hoping we get to see more from this characters – both the main characters, and secondary characters – their stories intrigue me too.
Having read the Love by Numbers series I was intrigued when I discovered this was to be a dark romance, and dark it is, but I loved it.
Its not for the faint of heart, there are some graphic scenes and some very Grim characters (little joke there) but under this battle of two families and a very twisted back story there is beauty and love. The relationship between Faye and Cole is so well written and they draw from each other, sometimes the dark and sometimes the light. It is very intense, you will also find yourself wondering about the other main characters and hoping against hope that they will get their own story! I myself am hooked and looking forward to more from the Red Order!
Be brave, embrace your dark side, you are going to love it!
