OMG! A new battle in the war against the light fae queen is at hand and this Dragon King story shocks and renders readers’ speechless. Kelton and Bernadette are faced with some impossible choices as they struggle with their attraction and the decisions they must make throughout the story. While their attraction grows stronger, the more questions arise and have them wondering how much of what they feel is real and how much is caused by the manipulate queen in quest to destroy the Dragon Kings.
Readers can’t help but get caught up in all the emotional turmoil that flows from the pages of this fast paced plot but at the same time they find themselves holding their breath, eyes opening wider and wider and biting their nails as surprising and shocking twists answers some questions and raises others. The action and suspense is explosive and in some parts of the story down right shocking as more enemies come to light in this fantastic Dragon King romance.
This was such a hard book to read because I wanted so bad to just jump to the end. It’s hard to be patient when you know something big is going to happen, and boy did something big happen! One more domino has fallen, and one more step closer to the end of the series.
Even after all that has been accomplished by the end of book 16, the author still manages to introduce a new character that just ramped up the story. We got so many questions answered but new ones popped up. That’s the beauty of this series and why it has stayed so good throughout so many books.
I’d love to say more, but in no way do I want to spoil anything. I’m just going to say that Fever had a very satisfying step forward while also leaving many more things still to be addressed. I’m looking forward to book 17!
Ok let me start by saying that you absolutely have to read the previous books in this series or you will be completely lost. This is book 16-so these books have been building a much bigger story ARC since the beginning. With that being said, in this one we get Kelton and Bernadette’s story. Bernadette is an anthropologist that has been telling people that dragons are real. Kelton has been sent to listen to one of her presentations and if possible to discredit her or prove her wrong in order to keep their secrets. But in meeting her, he is drawn to her. And after spending more time together he just wants to keep her safe. Especially after figuring out exactly what she was told and by whom.
I loved, loved, loved this one!!! Kelton and Bernadette are perfect for each other, and the fact that they take the time to truly listen to each other was absolutely beautiful!! The action in this one was also something that I truly have been waiting for and I was in no way disappointed with! I don’t want to say too much because a lot of what I could say would be a spoiler and I truly don’t want to wreck anything for anyone else. I seriously can’t wait for the next one now!!!
Keltan is a dragon king and has been alive for millions of years. When a woman starts claiming that dragon are real, they must try and stop her. Bernadette was an anthropologist but when she saw a dragon, she became a cryptozoologists and gave up everything to research them. She goes to Dreagan to see it for herself. Keltan takes her and gives her a tour and a history lesson on dragons. When the queen of the light fae uses Bernadette to find out what the dragons are planning, Keltan wants to protect her. He has always claimed that he didn’t want a mate but when Bernadette is injured, he will do anything to help her.
Awesome story. I believe this is my favorite so far. Mythical creatures, suspense, action, and love. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Bernadette and Kelton bring the Dark King’s world alive in this tale of romance .
Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
AMAZING!!! Simply AMAZING!!! LOVED IT! So as I have said before, I am jumping all around with these books but Ms. Grant does do a great job in recapping some of what is going on. This is Bernadette and Kelton’ s story and it was fleshed out and gave me a bit more insight as to what is coming next. Kelton finds his true mate in Bernadette though in his mind, he really did not want to have one. Bernadette has found some really interesting information and Kelton is tasked in finding out how she knows what she knows. When Kelton realizes who she is to him, he is now beholden to her in only a true mate can be. Filled with action , more stories within stories, some secrets revealed and finally a sort of conclusion that will bring on the next heat wave. Lol. See what I did there? I FREAKING LUUUURRRVVVEEEE DRAGONS!!!! Another awesome read, by a super storyteller. Loved it so freaking much!!! 4.5 stars*****

Loved this book, as always Donna does a wonderful job on the DK books! I am hooked on this series!!
Fever starts slow and but with a hint that something important is going to happen. Bernadette wants to reveal dragons to the entire world but her inner sent draws her to Dragon and Kelton shows her the real truth. He explains the whole history of dragons and opens her eyes. The unexpected enemy becomes their ally and Bernadette and Kelton more than a friend. But the storm is coming and the heads will fall. In unexpected events happens a few twists, one enemy is defeated but the main remains yet to be defeated.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
Heart racing, action packed, sexy and engaging adventure filled with danger, dark secrets, magic and passion…. was a great read from beginning to end. An edge of your seat emotional roller-coaster that left me breathless and excited for more!
Fever is another winning book in the Dragon Kings series and should be read as part of the series. Bernadette was a successful anthropologist who gave up her career when the queen of the light fae, Usaeil revealed a golden dragon to her. Now she’s single-mindedly trying to prove dragons exist to the world until Dragon King, Kelton walks into her lecture. Now Bernadette is an unwilling participate in a war between the Queen and the Dragon Kings and falling for her Dragon King. Kelton never wanted a mate but he cannot get Bernadette off his mind. As the danger ramps up until the final showdown between the Kings and Usaeil, Bernadette and Kelton work on their HEA among the carnage. (Side note the battle with the Others is not resolved and will continue into the next Dragon Kings story.) The story is fast-paced and just feeds the Dragon Kings addiction to leave you craving the next hit in the story line. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
Kelton is one of the Dragon Kings that didn’t want a mate. Bernadette is an anthropologist and is about to change his mind when he meets her. She knows what he is and better than to fall into his arms. The attraction between them won’t be denied so Bernadette will have to make a choice to expose everything she knows or keep the secret and be Kelton’s mate. An interesting read and addition to the series.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
FEVER by Donna Grant
Dark Kings #16
Dragons, and warriors and fae – oh my! AND there are OTHERS. Okay…putting silliness aside…this is an entertaining, ongoing series that has created a world and worlds beyond that is inhabited by more than humans. I did not get in on the beginning of this series but did pick up a few books later in the series and a few of the side stories that are part of the series and would like to, at some point in time, go back to the beginning and read them all in order. That said…if you are coming into this series having never read any of the previous books I would recommend this one as it gives a great deal of the backstory as Kelton tells Bernadette the history of the dragons. As he tells their story he mentions others (warriors, druids, fae, dark & light, good & bad and he also mentions The Others. There is mention of other worlds/universes and more. So, coming into the series on this book could/should work for many who might decide to give it a try.
Bernadette is a scholar, anthropologist, cyrptologist and seeker of the truth. She was doing fine professional and personally until one day she met a woman who took her to see a dragon. A year later she presents a talk and in walks Kelton at the bequest of his acting dragon king. Fate or Fae manipulation? Who knows. That meetings sparks a sequence of events that leads the entire universe closer to resolution of issues within this world the author has created. Some live, some die, some marry, a mate is found and a new presence is introduced that has me wondering what will happen next. While some issues are resolved in this bookmore than a few threads are left dangling to be worked on in the future.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Do I want to read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Dr. Bernadette Davies knows that dragons are real. She has proof. Usaeil, Queen of the Light, revealed their secrets. I disliked how the Queen used her magic to take over Bernadette’s life. She’s ruthless and determined to control or kill everyone who stands in her way. Keltan is a Dragon King. He’s a loner who doesn’t plan to take a mate. When he meets Bernadette, he’s drawn to her. She’s intelligent, honest and brave. I was impressed with how she accepted Kelton and his revelations. She just realized how Usaeil has been using her and has taken action to correct her mistake. Donna Grant wrote a suspenseful story that included a passionate romance. The action was nonstop. This story kept me on the edge of my seat. The Dark King series is intense, but there are more adventures to come. I’m not sure what danger awaits the Kings and their mates. However, I plan to be there to find out.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.
Donna Grant has created a dragon world with each book captures you from the front page to the end leaving you wanting more, This is book 16 in the series, This book gives us some answers as always more questions and can’t wait for the next one, so sit back and enjoy the ride,
Where to begin? This is book is so amazing. Although Ms. Grant writes each of her DK books so that they can stand alone, you just can’t get the full picture of how truly amazing this books is unless you have read the other books in the series. We get answers to so many burning questions and also have new questions. This book has had a huge lead up and we finally get the battle we have wanted for so long. There is heart ache, love, madness, tenderness, all emotions were felt while reading Fever. But that is what I believe is needed to make a book really interesting.
Bernadette was an Anthropologist before her world got turned upside by someone claiming that Dragons were real. When that same person shows her a Dragon in real life she leaves her old life behind and sets her sights on exposing the Dragons to the world.
Keltan just wants to hear what the crazy lady has to say about Dragons and leave. He doesn’t know that she has actual proof that they really do exist. But how could she? They made sure humans forgot about them a very long time ago. But here is this woman claiming she has proof.
Throughout the book we see Keltan and Bernadette struggle with their feelings for one another. Keltan doesn’t need or want a mate. Bernadette doesn’t think someone like Keltan could ever want and love her. Boy are they both wrong. After Usaeil tries to hurt Bernadette to make her do what she wants, they start falling into loves grasp and can’t get away.
Donna Grant is one of my absolute favorite authors. I can honestly say I have never read a book by her that I didn’t love. So I hope that you buy this book along with the others in the series and fall in love with the Dragon Kings as much as I have.
I was lucky enough to be a part of Donna Grant’s ARC Angels and received Fever as an Advanced Reader Copy in Kindle format. This review is my opinion.
When anthropologist Bernadette Davies threatens to expose what she knows about Dreagan and the Dragon Kings, something must be done about it. Kelton goes to check out Bernadette and what she knows. If you’ve read any of the books in this series, you know what happens. There’s a spark between these two that won’t be denied.
Since these books are meant to be able to be read standalone, there’s usually a good bit of page time devoted to giving some background to the story. Not having read this series from the start, I’m not that invested in the Fae aspects of the story. I’m more interested in the developing love story between the dragon king of choice and his mate. Fever did not disappoint in this aspect of the story.
There’s something sexy and charming about the Dragon Kings that just keeps me coming back for more. If you are a fan of shifter paranormal romance, with a rich, full world, you might like this series.
An ARC was provided for review.
Every book gets us closer and closer to a showdown with Usaeil. Will it finally happen in this one? Where is Con? Who will join in the epic battle when it arrives? Will Bernadette be ok? Is she really Keltan’s mate?
All good questions that will be answered when you read this book . it’s worth it. 5 stars! Go read all the other books first!
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! Be warned, if you read this one, you’re gonna want to read them all. They’re that good. Bernadette Davies is an anthropologist who has proof of dragons. Kelton is sent to find out if she really does, and to fix it. But things heat up between them, and now Bernadette has to decide on telling the world or keeping the secret. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
An amazing and fast-paced addition to the Dark Kings series. Kelton and Bernadette are perfect for each other. Questions are answered and new questions arise.
Grant has a wonderful way with characters and storylines. She never disappoints me.
I received an advance copy of this book from both the author and the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias.
As expected— (4 & 3/4 )
I say as expected, because all of Ms Donna’s books are excellent and entertaining. A little bummed Erith is refusing “to fight” – but, that just confirms (for me) that Usael and Rhi aren’t full-blood fae. Can’t shake the feeling that Con is Rhi’s “King”…. Either way Bernadette and Keltan get their HEA (to a point) and we get a sneak-peak at the “other” reapers. More? – then you must read! Great SciFi series.
