His kiss was fire and passion. She shivered, wondering how he knew just how to touch her, to send her spiraling into an abyss of pleasure… For centuries, the Dragon Kings have lived among mortals, forsaking their true selves. But for Kelton, hiding in the realm of shadows–and existing only in the world of dreams–is no longer an option. A human woman claims to know that he, like other dark … he, like other dark warriors of his kind, is real. That the legends about these powerful, seductive men with hearts ablaze are true. And that, with just one embrace, Kelton could destroy her…or love her until the end of time.
Bernadette Davies is an anthropologist who knows better than to fall into the arms of a Dragon King. But how can she resist Kelton when he’s so willing to share his secrets and bare his soul? He hasn’t met a beautiful, trustworthy woman like Bernadette in…forever. But once they give into their mutual desire, their worlds will never be the same. Soon Bernadette must face her dilemma: Should she expose the truth about Kelton in the name of science? Or join him in his battle with the dark forces–in the name of love?

Donna Grant has brought us yet another beautifully written DK story!
I am so honored to be part of the Arc Angels team that got to preview Fever!!
This book has absolutely everything that a paranormal reader CRAVES in a book. You will laugh, cry, scream and then cry again with happy tears!!
As with all of our Dragon King and Dark World Books she brings us a new beautiful love story with Kelton and Bernadette!
Although happy for his brothers having found their mates, Kelton wants nothing to do with any of that! Feeling that love is a weakness that he doesn’t need in his life.
He is sent to investigate a cryptozoologist named Bernadette who claims she has proof that dragons exist at Dregan.
After listening to her lecture he finds that not only is she stunningly beautiful but she actually does know something, but how is she getting her information?
Thus begins our action packed continuing story arc of the war between the Dragon Kings, light and dark Fae and the Reapers
As Kelton and Bernadette fall deeper in love the fear of the Queen of the light’s hold on Bernadette become stronger..
So many questions over this series have answers but so many more are still lingering out there to be discovered! If you have read even one paranormal book in your life you absolutely have to come into Donna Grant’s Dark World! I promise you will not be disappointed!!
I actually read it three times now and I am truly on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book!!
Loved it! In this 16th book the Kings are being under the threat of being exposed. Bernadette might be closer than any other has been before. Keltan is put to the task of preventing that from happening. However, Ms. Davies is so much more than she appears and Keltan’s life is about to be forever changed. He is drawn to her like no other. And the feeling is mutual. But Keltan has never wanted a mate. He thinks it will be a weakness. When Bernadette takes action to repair the damage she feels responsible for, he realizes his mistake. These two won’t find their HEA easily. Of course these events have urged both the Kings and the Fae to stand together in a battle that’s been brewing for a long time. Victory is never reached without consequence. One of own will suffer a heartbreaking loss. This is full of action that keeps you on the edge. A passionate romance you won’t soon forget. With the story moving forward, questions are finally answered. Not all of them though. Ms. Grant does not disappoint with another amazing read. A must read in the series. This is my voluntary opinion of a n advanced copy I received.
Although much of beginning is devoted to catching readers up on the dragon king story, It is still worthwhile to catch up a little on prior stories. There are many books but interesting nonetheless. This is another in long line of dragon Kings…lots of action, romance and tons of plot twists. Although story is about another dragon king, finally story about Rhi.
When I finished Ignite, I was curious about who the next book was going to be about. I knew it wasn’t Con, because Ub*tch had him, so I figured it was Kelton. As for the woman, that was left up in the air. So, I wasn’t surprised when Kelton was the first person mentioned. I was surprised at who his mate was and how he met her.
Fever was an exciting book to read. I was expecting more of a filler book, like Ignite. To my surprise, Fever ended up being so much more. Not only was it Kelton/Bernadette’s romance, but there was a progression with all the major storylines – Con/Ub*tch storyline, the storyline with Rhi, the Dark Fae storyline and the storyline with The Others.
I wasn’t too sure about Bernadette. Like the Dragon Kings, I thought that she was getting her information from someone. I figured it was a disgruntled someone. But I wasn’t expecting it to be Ub*tch. Her sudden decision to go to Dreagan also raised my red flags, as did her immediate attraction to Kelton. But after her heart to heart with him and seeing exactly how Ub*tch destroyed Bernadette’s life made any reservations I had towards her go away. What Ub*tch did to her in this book was awful. Which lead me to wonder, exactly what did Ub*tch know about Bernadette? I also wanted to know why Rhi was so drawn to her. I have a feeling I know why, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. All I will say that if I am right, that is a HUGE bombshell!!
I loved Kelton. He was willing to do whatever it took to find out who was leaking Bernadette. But when Bernadette showed up at Dreagan, he decided to be honest with her. He didn’t expect to fall in love. I loved how honest he was about his struggle with Con’s decision to send the dragons home. Once he determined that Ub*tch was using Bernadette, he was going to do anything to protect her, which included sending her back to that conniving evil witch. I did get a laugh over his complete denial of his feelings for Bernadette. Typical alpha male right there.
Bernadette and Kelton had major sexual chemistry and sexual attraction from the beginning. That translated into some seriously hot sex scenes. I did feel let down when they figured out that Ub*tch spelled Bernadette to attract a Dragon King (ie, Kelton). I had a brief moment of panic that those impressive sex scenes I read were magically induced. Thankfully, the author cleared that up fast.
I am glad that Rhi made more of an appearance in Fever. Like I said above, I have a theory of why she was so drawn to Bernadette. Also, her struggle with the dark was so much more pronounced in Fever. I felt terrible for her.
I couldn’t stand Ub*tch. What she did to Bernadette (the blood spell) was wrong. What she was doing Xanth was wrong also. That poor man. She tortured him!! What happened at the end of the book was terrific, but I wish there were closure!!!
I didn’t understand why Death and the Reapers weren’t getting involved with what was going on in Fever. I started to get irritated because Death made such a big deal about Ub*tch being taken down. But, there was a scene towards the end of the book that made me go “Hrrrmmmm.” Made me wonder what the author has in store for that storyline!!
The Dark Fae storyline (with Balladyn) surprised me. I was NOT expecting what happened to happen. I put the book down and said: “Holy crap, that just DIDN’T happen!!!”
The storyline with Con and Ub*tch had me going. I didn’t know what to think about what was going on. All I could think was that it wasn’t good.
The storyline with Henry and Melisse fascinated me. Precisely who is Melisse, and what does she want with Henry? I cannot wait to read the next book.
here is so much happening in this book, some loose ends are tied up, some new mysteries appear, and the Dragon King Keltan finally meets a woman, Rebecca. Most of my favorite characters make an appearance, which I appreciate.
I liked that some of the story-lines seem to have come to a conclusion, but in this world full of magic you never know what the future will bring. Rebecca is a new character, and I really like her and look forward to learning more about her.
My one problem is, with the Dragon Kings and their mates, the Light Fae, the Dark Fae, Death and her Reapers, plus the Druids, and the Others, I’m at a point where I need a glossary or a cheat sheet to keep everyone straight. I would love to see a list of the major characters in one of the next books in this series.
I just reviewed Fever by Donna Grant. #Fever #NetGalley
Donna has outdone herself yet again. This book is fantastic. The story line took a turn I wasn’t expecting. Keltan and Bernadette are perfect for eachother. This is the 16th book in the series and can’t wait for the next.
Readers of paranormal romance will enjoy this book. Donna Grant is a gifted story teller taking you on a trip full of fantasy, wonder, intrigue, deception, passion, and love. The Dragon King’s story continues as Keltan is sent by Ulrik to a discussion on dragons, given by cryptozoologist Bernadette Davies. He is there to discover what she thinks she knows about dragons but soon discovers that the sexy woman has far more knowledge than should be possible and she claims to have irrefutable proof. This cannot be. They have hidden their identity well destroying any evidence of their existence that falls into human hands. Who is divulging this information to her? What is her proof? Who is she working with?
When Bernadette shows up at Draegan unexpectedly Keltan decides to spend time with her giving her the information she wants in order to discover her source. He will then have Guy wipe her memories of dragons, Dreagan, and of him forever. It is for the best. He doesn’t want this mutual attraction they feel, he doesn’t want a human woman, he doesn’t want or need a mate.
If you are new to the Dark Kings books and want to catch up on the story I suggest you start with Dark Craving; however, to get the whole Dark World story from the beginning include the Warriors and the Reapers beginning with Dangerous Highlander. Reading order can be found at https://motherofdragonsbooks.com/category/books/?series=dark-world.
Happy reading. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
Fever is the long awaited 16th book in Donna Grant’s Dragon King series. As each King finds his mate, the inevitable battle between the Kings and the light fae queen looms. Oh boy was this book so very amazing. Kelton always hides in shadows and dreams. He is sent by his brothers to listen to Bernadette Davies, an anthropologist who is spouting that dragons are real. It is quickly realized that Usaeil – we all know what we call her, is using Bernadette. This book was everything I wanted with all the kings, their mates, Con, Balladyn, Rhi and even reapers. The dragon king series just keeps getting better. I cannot wait to find out who Rhi’s dragon king is and who is Con’s fated mate.
A human is about to tell all that Dragons are real. This is an epic fantasy with Light Fae, Dark Fae, Druids and Dragon Kings. Follow the romance of Bernadette and Keltan as two species overcome a bad history of betrayal to come together. This is a favourite series of Dragon Kings but you are given tasters of how past stories interact with this one to not become lost in characters.
I am so addicted to this series. This is the book so many of us have been waiting for… No not Con’s book , but the one with the final battle with Usaeil, Queen of the light fae. For several books now I have grown an extreme dislike for Usaeil, and Fever brings us the confrontation we’ve been waiting for, but of course, Usaeil has plans of her own, and she has Con as her prisoner.
I screamed, I cried, I laughed, and when I reached the last page, I went on-line to see when the next book in the series is going to be released. Great read!!
Once again Usaeil is up to no good. She uses a human to bring attention to the Dragon Kings. Bernadette is drawn in to the mystery of dragons, unknowingly falling right into the middle of a war.
Keltan doesn’t want a mate. They’re a distraction and a weakness. Will he learn they also make life worth so much more?
Donna Grant’s Dragon Kings series is an incredible world of Dragons, Fae, Warriors, the Other, and strong female heroines. This isn’t a stand-alone, so if you start here, you might be a little lost.
I can’t recommend this series highly enough. If you haven’t started it, start now. If you have, then you will love Fever!!!
Donna you truly are the Mother of Dragons!
The next in the Dragon Kings series is here!! No spoilers I promise, but this book will stroke the fires of the Kings books and give you all sort of new ideas to lead you around!
Keltan and Bernadette are two of my most favorites in this series, the connection, the chemistry, the emotions are so real and meaningful. Bernadette is being used as a pawn unknowingly, and Keltan is the one to set her straight and to set her free.
Read this, if you love Donna, if you love the Dragon Kings, if you want a great story. Just do it!
THIS BOOK! It started out simply enough like the other Dragon King novels. Keltan left Dreagan to see what Dr. Bernadette Davies had on them during her lecture claiming that dragons were real. He was the perfect fit because he was the king who didn’t want a mate. Bernadette knew more than she said in her lecture but she wanted to stir up interest in the topic. Only her friend, Usaeil, wants her to do it faster. That gets her to Dreagan to find out the truth. Something Keltan doesn’t expect but doesn’t particularly mind either. Then the adventure begins with discovering what the Queen of Light’s plans are and how to best protect the women under the Dragon Kings’ care.
The writing in this novel was so good. It pulled everything together and flowed nicely. The two main characters were well written and grew with each other as a potential couple. With the right amount of denial from Keltan who didn’t want a mate. I highly recommend this book to anyone because if you’ve been reading them the showdown that we’ve all been waiting for is here.
*I received an ARC for an honest review*
I have only read a few books in this world but am totally hooked on this series. Yes I will be going back and getting the books I missed but that in no way diminished the story. It is robust and hearty on its own. There is enough suspense to keep you drooling for the next installment. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for the next installment!!
FEVER, A Dark Kings Novel by Donna Grant is book 16 in the Dark Kings Series. This is the story of Kelton and Bernadette. I have read the previous books which I do think helped me to enjoy this one but you can make it a standalone book if you wish to do so. Bernadette is a Dr/scientist who feels that dragons are real and that they are connected to Dreagan Industries. Kelton is sent to see what her findings are and if they are real that might expose them. Kelton was never one to truly be looking for his mate but what he finds in Bernadette is changing that attitude. I am enjoying this series and of course Ms. Grant’s writing.
I am a fan of Mrs. Grant’s but I have only read her cowboy series. This is my first paranormal book of hers that I have read. I really enjoyed it.
I loved the couple of Kelton and Bernadette. Here are two individuals who meet under different circumstances and are intrigued with each other but yet there are other factors to think about.
I enjoyed the push/pull that Kelton had about his feeling for Bernadette. I liked that everyone else could see it and he couldn’t. I also liked that in between all of the tension and getting ready for battle these two were flirting and falling in love.
I will say the suspense in this book was off the charts. You felt the nervous energy the characters were giving off.
The only issue I did have was, I did feel like like I came into this book feeling a little behind. While I loved the relationship with Kelton and Bernadette. It took awhile to get a handle on all the other characters. I eventually got there but like I said it just felt like I was a step behind for half way through the book. This was more my fault by starting with this book and not at the beginning.
4.5 stars
Book 16? I think it is in the Dark King series, Fever felt a little like a transition book. Grant spent the first handful of chapters catching everyone up on what’s been happening with this current story arc, and yes it’s a lot, while introducing Bernadette and Keltan, this story’s main couple. However, everyone from the Reapers, Dark and Light Fae, to the Dragon Kings and their mates had a moment-or more-and that’s when the story REALLY started taking off in directions that left me thinking “I wasn’t expecting that/I didn’t see this coming/I can’t believe that just happened!”
All I can say is if you’ve been wanting to jump into the Dark King world, Fever would be the perfect book to start with! There’s plenty of information to catch you up on where things stand now before delving into an jam-packed story and then giving teasers into the next arc. Who wouldn’t want to spend a few hours with these amazing dragons?!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book from Netgalley and St. Martins. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Bernadette was once an accomplished anthropologist. But now…she’s essentially a laughing stock. She has been sucked into the world of Dragons and has become obsessed. But her obsession could lead to annihilation for an entire species.
Keltan has been alive for a long, long, long time. He has seen humans come and go and mostly he is happy with his lot. But Con is still missing, Ubitch is still causing mayhem wherever she goes and now a meddling human could open up the Dragon Kings World to outsiders!
Bernadette may be incredibly smart but she is also naive and the most open-book person ever! Keltan has obviously being paying attention during his long life – cook for a woman! There are lots of OMG moments, WTH’s and let’s just say someone has their come-to-Jesus reckoning!
Title: Fever
Author: Donna Grant
Genre: Contemporary Fantasy Romance
**RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW **
This is my second book by Donna Grant and my second book in this series. I came to this series very late with the book Ignite. Even if I had never read anything in this series I could read Fever and be caught up no problem. Grant does an awesome job of immersing the reader in the ongoing storyline and the current hero and heroines story so that they aren’t lost and confused. Unfortunately I felt more for the other characters and their drama than Kelton and Bernadette. These two characters just didn’t feel real or and truthfully they felt secondary. The book seemed more of a storyline climax/ending/new beginning in regards to other characters than these two lovers.
Now, I will say after reading this book I now need to go back and read a different Donna Grant series about the Reapers. So this book may have actually made me a Donna Grant reader. Oh, as an Anthropologist, if you have an Anthropologist as a character, I don’t know, have her seem Anthropological. Bernadette just seemed like a conspiracy theorist. But was constantly said she was soooo intelligent. She never really said anything overly interesting or intelligent.
Like I said, I fell in love with Rhi and others part of the continuing series. And I really want to read about the Reapers, they seem sexy and hot. So I guess you could say Donna Grant gave me a Fever!
Once again an amazing book. Its hard to review without spoilers so go read it. You wont want to put it down.
