I’m not to proud to admit that finding Mr. Right involves swiping right. Right? Welcome to dating in avocado toastland. Here I am, on my first blind date, ever, courtesy of a smartphone app and my two annoying best friends. So what is Chris “Fletch” Fletcher doing, walking across the room, looking at his phone like he’s pattern matching a picture to find a real person he’s never met before?Oh.Oh, … met before?
Oh.
Oh, no.
The guy I drop-kicked in seventh grade cannot be my blind date. The guy who earned me this infernal nickname.
That’s right.
Feisty.

Feisty, I mean, Fiona (she hates that nickname!) is in a bit of an existential crisis. First, the backstory on the nickname. In middle school, Chris “Fletch” Fletcher tried to kiss her, Fiona drop-kicked him into next week, and the moniker was born. It seems Fletch meant it as a compliment since he’s carried a torch for her through the years, but Fiona is still carrying a grudge seventeen years later.
Now Fiona’s world is changing faster than she can keep up. After a traumatic event at the preschool where Fiona teaches forces her to channel her Feisty persona to protect her students, it seems the entire world now wants a piece of her. Additionally, the guy she’s hated for all those years is kind to her, helping her through the aftermath, and she doesn’t know what to do with any of it. She’s worked hard to balance herself and attract goodness and positivity from the universe, but she’s having a hard time marrying the feisty version of herself with the new and improved Fiona.
While this book has its somber moments and touches on the metaphysical, it still has the humor and heat we’ve come to expect from Kent. I had no idea four-year-olds could be so hilarious with their lack of filter and embarrassing questions, and I had forgotten what a hysterical hot mess Fiona and her two BFFs are when they get together. Then there’s the chemistry between Fletch and Fiona: exquisitely intense, and their first time together is spiritual enough to make you want to sing Hallelujah.
This book also has no shortage of heart, and it easily captured mine. I couldn’t help but experience every part of Fiona’s internal struggle, and her interactions with Fletch are unbearably touching, with the perfect amount of humor sprinkled throughout. And Fletch? Gah, you’ll be helpless as this funny, caring, patient, protective paramedic steals your heart. He’s right there with Fiona for every step of the journey while his innate goodness wins her heart, and they both become the best versions of themselves as a result. This hilarious, heartfelt, poignant read checks all the boxes, and you absolutely don’t want to miss it!
Fiona a.k.a. Fiesty is just living her life when an event not only brings her 7th grade neimis back into her life but puts her on every social media platform there is. Chris a.k.a. Fletch almost freaks out when his nephew Maddie is put in danger, but only to be saved by Fiesty the one person from his past that he can’t seem to get past. I loved this story so much and it was much anticipated. I hope we hear more from these three crazy women because I have come to love each and every one of them. Highly recommend this book, series and author because duh, she is incredible!!
3.5 Stars
I liked this book. There were parts that I found myself skimming the book but overall I liked it.
Fletch and Fiona have know each other since grade school. When Fletch keeps popping up Fiona is questioning everything she has thought and felt about Fletch. Could she have been wrong about him all this time?
After what felt like a long wait, the third book in Julia Kent’s newest series of connected standalones has finally arrived. This is Fiona Gaskill and Chris Fletcher’s story. Feisty and Fletch to those who know them best. Especially themselves. Chris adorned Fiona with hers after she let fly with hands and feet when he tried to kiss her in 7th grade. Fiona was having none of that and taught Fletch a lesson he’d never forget. Pity it ended with her getting a stupid nickname.
She hated it then and still does 17 years later. Fletcher isn’t in her graces either, but times are about to change. Oh yes, they are!
All Fletch wanted way back when was a kiss. A simple kiss and what did he get for his trouble. A black eye. And a kick up the backside. Still, it didn’t stop his crushing on that Feisty girl and he’s still carrying that torch today.
This was a sweet and sexy story, with a touch of vulnerability and seriousness to it. I enjoy rom/coms and I adore Julia’s writing, so what’s not to love. This book, although a standalone is set in the same timeline as Fluffy and Perky, and has characters from those two books as Fiona is friends with both their main heroines. These three women are as close as sisters and it’s through Mallory and Perky that Fiona comes to re-assess her attitude to life. Will that assessment include forgiving Fletch, and giving him a chance to get back in her good graces?
I loved every heart-warming minute of this book and thoroughly recommend it to old and new fans alike. Now, we just have to wait for book 4 and Hasty to make her appearance.
OMG Julia will have you cracking up so hard with this one, I loved every minute of it! 5 feisty stars for this one, grab it asap!
Meet Fiona, nicknamed Feisty back in grade school, for reasons you will read about. When she’s faced with a crisis, and handles it accordingly, she becomes social media famous, and is hounded. Chris Fletcher is there to calm her when the crisis occurs, he’s a paramedic and feels he owes her big since she basically saved his nephew.
She doesn’t like Fletch, after all he’s the one who gave her the nickname Feisty to begin with. But as these two spend time together, or actually, happenstance thrown together for some strange reason, she starts to look at Fletch in a different light.
Read along as these two come together, and let’s not forget the other girls who make their rightful appearances, this makes for a hysterical rom com that is not to be missed! Grab this asap!
Made me laugh! Wendy for Janise’s Jivin’ Book Blog
This is the 3rd book in the Do Over series and another fun installment. As with all the books Fiona, Mallory and Perky are all involved in the story. The story will make you laugh as well as feel all the old feelings effecting Fiona. Loved these fun characters, and glad we got to know Mattie he is adorable. Looking forward to reading more Julia Kent.
The audio narrated by Erin Mallon is a great companion to the book. This series is so much fun. This book is no exception and so far is my favorite. Chakras, vibrations and bears, oh, my! Feisty and Fletch find their way to each other, in-spite of taco ratios. Have a good time with this read. No need to read the previous books, but they would add to the story. Top of your listen and read TBR list..
Once again Julia Kent draws us into her new cast of characters and takes us on a wild ride. Feisty may be the perfect nickname even if she doesn’t think so. This story runs you through every possible emotion from crying to laughing out loud. Don’t miss it
A moving story from start to finish. Fiona all grown up, preschool teacher wants nothing more than to leave the past behind her. After an inconceivable incident brings Chris Fletcher back into her life she has questions about what she truly wants. This is very well written with characters so believable you’re there with them. With a touch of her typical humor, passion and stories of life, Julia Kent has again delivered a delightful read.
All the things you expect in a Julia Kent novel and more! Fiona aka Feisty is so much fun in this book. I love her journey to meld her past and present. Her snarkiness is a true delight and your heart breaks as she tries to figure out where Chris aka Fletch fits into her universe.
These two, along with all of their friends give you love, so much laughter, and a sexy great read.
There are some swoon-worthy moments between Feisty and Fletch as well as some rib-cracking hilarious scenes. I swear I almost died laughing a few times.
This was perfect Julia!
P.S I marked it action-packed because there is always something huge going on. lol
