Town doctor Jude Southerland is known for two things: saving lives and ducking marriage. So when he almost runs Autumn down in the middle of Main Street and ends up sipping sweet tea with the prodigal daughter a few weeks later, the good townsfolk take notice. As far as Jude’s concerned, the last woman anyone would pair him with is the only one he wants. No one knew what it cost her to come … knew what it cost her to come home.
With her career going down in flames and a family history that reads like a bad tabloid, Autumn Maddox can’t afford any more PR disasters if she wants to hold her head up in her old home town. So she’s going to do the impossible—smile brightly at every insincerely murmured “bless your heart,” ignore every not-so-subtle dig, and pretend the town’s sexiest bachelor is a eunuch. Well… two out of three isn’t bad, right?
As far as Autumn and the town are concerned, this means war.
Jude’s determined to be her knight in shining armor, but Autumn gave up on happily ever afters, small southern towns, and herself a long time ago. What’s it going to take to convince the Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Rotary Club and the woman of his dreams that their love is meant to be?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Evelyn Adams invites you to fall in love with the Southerlands. Love is just a click away. more
Small town romance at it’s best. Made me want to, well, not move to the Blue Ridge mountains but definitely made me want to visit. Jude and Autumn’s love story is heart-warming and has all the feels. Autumn is a strong heroine who wasn’t born on the right side of the tracks but who worked hard and found her own version of success. Even so, she doesn’t quite feel worthy of Dr. Jude Southerland. Loved it as he proved to her that the whole side of the track thing is all in her head.
A sizzling, engaging southern romance. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
Well, well, well. What can I say about this book?! I loved it! Oh my gosh, do this woman know how to write?! This book took me on a romantic ride and I never wanted to get off. First let me say, I wish that all my doctors were like the good Dr. Jude Southerland.
I would be making all kinds of illness just see him and have him touch me as he tells me to breath in and out. Oh lord, I’m having he vapors as I write about him. This man knows how to talk to a woman, take care of her and seduce her. Seduce me! Anyway Autumn was fantastic with Jude.
Her character showed a strong determined aunt who would not give on her family for the world. She didn’t hide and she didn’t coward. You go girl! And that my fellow book reader, I recommended this book with two snaps and a twist.
I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed this much to read a book. I loved everything and everyone in it, even the ones I didn’t love because everyone was created just right.
A book that will stay with me for long.
Well done Evelyn Adams! And Thank you!
A small town can be great to grow up in, especially if you are from the “right” side of town, the “right” families. Who is too say they are any better then others! This story shows you that you can grow up with nothing but not be nothing, we all deserve the best life can give us and we all deserve Love! This is the story of just that, 2 people coming together for love and no other reason.
Autumn returns to the town that she grew up in the south. She meets Jude the local Dr who comes from a prominent family in the community. Together they learn the you can’t judge a person by their family, and that you can go home again. And 2 people from different sides of the tracks can find love.
You always have to love a story about a person returning home and fall in love with someone that they “shouldn’t”. I have fallen in love with these characters and I am very much looking forward to reading about Bailey next.
I love Jude and Autumn’s relationship. I would love to see the Blue Ridge Mountains or just a small town like theirs.
Awesome book
I have a new author and a new series :). I’m so excited. This is a great start. There are so many return to small town find love Stories out there these days. This is just enough different to make it more realistic and interesting.
I recommend this story.

I really enjoyed this book and it only took me 2days to read it:) I look forward to more of her amazing books.
I Loved it
The old adage you can choose your parents was so true for Autumn & some of her siblings. She came home because her grandmother passed away, she raised them since her mom died. Autumn had to stay because her job her grandmother was so proud of went away. Jude’s family were the money people of their town, he was a doctor. But he like her and didn’t care her mom’s past.
A nice small town romance with likeable characters. The story flowed well and it kept my interest through to the end.
Yes I enjoyed
I enjoyed this romance. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. Because of some sexual content and violence, this is not for the under 18 readers. Parts of this is funny, parts of this is not.The heroine has been beaten down in a lot of ways and has a low opinion of herself. I really liked the hero, although he is a little over protective. Then there is his big dog, Max. He brings a lot into the story. You might need a tissue or two for this. This story brings up abuse, of which there are many types. There is a good ending. I’ve given this a 4.5 * rating.
Nice little story. Well written and keep my interest. Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Autumn finds true love in her home town she left many years ago.
This is a feel-good romance that hits the lows and highs of a new relationship. The main character Autumn has made something of herself despite growing up in a very troubled household. She moves away from her small town and successfully builds a nest egg working as a junior accountant at a big city company. When the company falls under the scrutiny of the federal government, she moves back home and meets Dr. Noah and his big Newfoundland Max. Girl Not Good Enough, Guy from the Royal Family of a Small Town…now the story gets juicy with other interesting family stuff thrown into the mix.
Would read it again
A fun, quick read
