Told in a series of stand-alone stories, a group of African American friends each finds their own happily-ever-after.
AZARIA: Golf Alpha + Business Woman = Happily Ever After
I’ve worked hard to get ahead at my law firm, but a good ol’ boy network strangles the place. As the only African American woman in the office, it’s hard to fit in let alone get ahead. Maybe learning how to golf is the … ahead. Maybe learning how to golf is the key to the inner circle. But then I meet country club golf instructor Alex Sinclair. Inner circle? What inner circle? The only place I want into is Alex’s heart. And he seems like he wants to teach me so much more.
RIHANNA: You-Tube Celebrity + Business Woman = Happily Ever After
I try my best to maneuver the office politics at a new job. It’s not easy. Then I meet an honest to goodness You-Tube celebrity and sparks fly. I’m talking a fireworks grand finale. He’s gorgeous and intriguing and everything I could ask for. And he wants me to travel with him. But I can’t just run away from everything I’ve worked so hard for. Is he willing to change his life and settle down for me? With a sizzling connection this good, I know what I hope the answer will be.
JADA: Single Working Dad + Single Working Mom = Happily Ever After
It’s just another day with the play-date group. Or is it? The stranger’s eyes that lock with mine are the color of acid-washed denim with a circle of deeper blue around the iris. Then he accidentally spills coffee on me and just has to come into the bathroom to help clean it up. Well, that was the goal anyway. But when the door closes, things get dirty. Afterward, he thinks that has a single mother of three, I’ve already been through too much, I don’t need the hassles that an interracial relationship can attract. But I’m stronger than that. And now that I’ve had him, he’s not going back to Canada without me.
SHEBA: Alpha Male + Business Woman = Happily Ever After
Okay, so I’ve just had the hottest one-nighter in a hotel room with a perfect stranger while out of town for a training and didn’t even get his number. I feel like Cinderella after the ball but the less fairy tale version where she gets home to find both glass slippers still firmly in place. Then he calls my firm and requests me to be his business consultant. Oh, I know exactly what he needs. And I plan on giving it to him. Every smoking-hot bit of it.

Very relatable…
Sad indictment but racists abound the world over. This was a collection of four stories that spoke to the feelings of women who are judged by the colour of their skin rather than on merit. They were resilient, confidant, inspiring women. Unfortunately there’s no immediate cure for ignorance & intolerance but we can live in hope. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
This was an ok read. The book contains four short reads about sisters and friends all finding love. It’s a little disjointed, as outside of Azaria and Rihanna being sisters, we don’t know how they know Jada and Sheba. There is very little interaction between these friends and the stories don’t really tie together.
Anyway, I did enjoy Sheba’s story the most. Pretty quick to read overall.

This is a collection of stories about four smart, competent, women who are determined to make their own way in the world.
Oh, and by the way, they are four women of color.
They successfully navigate the business world, dealing with coworkers and supervisors with preconceptions about the role of either women or people of color, and sometimes both, without losing their dignity, self-respect or humanity. And when the occasional glass ceiling is encountered, they use talent, skills and drive to find a way past it.
Each story hinges on one of our “sisters” meeting a man with whom they have an instant attraction. This man appreciates them for their uniqueness and sees them as a beautiful woman. His belief in her and her abilities, and his willingness to support her as she works toward her goals, gives each of these women the determination to become successful by making personal connections with other individuals and improving their lives and/or businesses.
Looking at only their social contribution, these characters are ones I can honestly believe in and can truly see being successful in the real world. They are not whinging about and using racism, genderism, or other prejudice as an excuse to not do their best work of make the best effort they can. These women exemplified the color-blind society that I heard the Rev.Dr.King speak about during my youth.
After seeing so many stereotypical people of color on the news, in movies, or on daytime TV portrayed as drug dealers, gangsters, prostitutes, welfare queens, and other non-functional leeches on society, THESE are young women that should be held up to our youth as examples.
I was not as thrilled with their personal behavior with their instalove partner. The immediate promiscuity felt rather gratuitous. I don’t like the implicit permission it gives young readers to do their thinking with their reproductive system. I honestly think the stories would have been just as good if that word count had been applied to the characters discussing their histories, values, relationships and expectations.
On the whole, I thought they were good stories. They may not be ones I will re-read frequently, but I know there is a group of younger women who will find these stories speak to their life and experiences. To those women, whatever you choose to do in your life, like Azaria, Rihanna, Jada and Sheba, do it with all the skill, determination, excellence and kindness you can bring to the table.

Silva Hart gives us four loosely connected stories filled with interesting characters, intense connections and plenty of HEA. Each female character is a working woman with smarts and integrity. They each pair with a unique, yet realistic male. Their love stories start quickly…InstaLove, but they all seem like the real deal. In the first story Alex asks “do you believe in love at first sight” well after reading these awesome stories, it is hard not to!

I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I read the last page.
These four woman work hard and have complicate home situations from earning a degrees and being over looked for a promotion to have children and needing support that is not readily there. These men they found or found them are not afraid of learning to love them as hey deserve once eh instant love kicks in. They are willing in their own right believe and want the woman of their choice and vice versa. Great inspirations for short reads. No cliffhangers
