I’m an outcast and a loner, named for death itself. Fate wasn’t supposed to have plans for me.But then she came back–the girl I once kissed in a thorn-covered chapel in the woods. She came back, and I could no more resist her than I could pry out my own heart. And by some trick of fate, she wants me as much as I want her. The only problem? She also wants the man who owns Thornchapel, Auden Guest. Auden Guest.
And so do I.
Eight years ago, I did something to Auden, something terrible. He hurt me back the only way he knew how, and so here we are: our hatred seasoned with pain and my loneliness seasoned with longing. The only thing we can agree on is Proserpina Markham, and she wants us to find a way to be together–all three of us.
If Auden wants to earn her as his submissive, then he has to earn me as well.
But with the discovery of bones behind the altar and the carnal revel of Beltane fast approaching, it’s becoming clear that Thornchapel’s secrets are much deeper and older than any of us could have ever guessed. And no matter how bright and merry a feast of sparks may be, it’s always followed by ashes.
And darkness.
Feast of Sparks is Book Two in the Thornchapel series.
more
Once again, I am completely blown away by Sierra Simone’s epic writing and extraordinary story-telling. Feast of Sparks is just as delicious as the first installment in the Thornchapel series — with just as many twists, just as many heart-pounding moments, and just as much mystery leading into the next book. I am HOOKED!
I must admit, I had never read a TRUE erotic book before I read A Lesson in Thorns. Sure, I’ve read romance with some super steamy scenes, but this was on another level. And perhaps what makes this the BEST way to start reading erotica is that with the mystery of Thornchapel and the magic of the rituals these six friends engage in, there is something… PRIMAL about the sex in these books. It’s more than just part of the story, it’s the HEART of the story. And it’s absolutely intoxicating.
I am still head over heels for all the characters. Auden, the broody prince. St. Sebastian, the sad poor boy. And my new obsession? Becket, the handsome, sweet priest who has a bad side that I can’t get enough of. These boys have me completely under their spells.
The leading ladies of the Thornchapel series are also addicting, especially our little Prosperina. I love how honest she is with her flaws, how much she owns and embraces her past as well as her present, and with no shame for what she may become in the future. It’s something I envy, really, and if anything, Prosperina’s character leaves me wanting to invest in myself more than I already do.
The last chapter of this book had my heart in my throat. JUST when everything seemed okay, seemed happy and promising, of course, Sierra drops a bomb in our lap — one I feared would come but hoped TERRIBLY that I was wrong.
I cannot wait to see what unfolds in the next installment. I’m counting down the days. Bravo, Simone. You’re an evil little kinky genius and I adore you!
This is the second book in the Thornchapel series, and the continuation of Poe, Auden, and St. Sebastien’s story. This book continues the roller coaster of twists, turns, with erotic highs, and dark lows. This book is well written, the characters have explosive chemistry, and their story kept me captivated. This was intense, mysterious, suspenseful, twisted, and steamy!
WOW. So we pick up where we left off, and boy is there A LOT going on. The emotional devastation and turmoil continues. Grief is an odd emotion, it manifests itself and seeps into your soul and comes out your pores before you even know what hit you. It doesn’t hit two people the same. The same as love. This complex relationship between them all needs truth and light and the revelation of secrets and mysteries solved before they can figure out whats going on between them, and to find peace within themselves. The more we learn the backstory of these characters, the more intrigued I become. I can’t wait to jump back into Thornchapel.
The Thornchapel waking dream continues in Feast of Sparks, as past and present fold in on themselves, consumed and reborn in the love and longing of Saint Sebastian. He’s a man teetering between worlds. Pagan and Catholic, Poe and Auden, beloved and worthless. He’s also a character that speaks the secret language of my heart. He feels like my younger, dream self. A worthless vessel for a perfect love. My Auden never knew, but thanks to Sierra’s gift for emotionally brazen storytelling, my heart’s desire came true if only in the waking dream of Thornchapel and Saint Sebastian.
In the old religion, words ARE magic and carry a special sacred power. In the hands of Sierra Simone they blaze with rare potency, weaving a powerful tapestry of passion, longing, devotion, resentment, carnality and love, only to rend it apart with a poetic ferocity. Ms. Simone wields her words deftly, slicing out our hearts and laying them on the alter of Thornchapel, an imperfect sacrifice in the name of St. Sebastian’s perfect love.
Feast of Sparks will consume you on a seductive incandescent pyre of lush perversity, leaving you begging for more.

Mindblowing
Sierra Simone simultaneously makes me want to quit writing and also write my ass off to level up. GAH, this series is something else. Sexy and angsty and taboo and pagan AF. I had promised myself I’d wait to read it until all 4 books are out (because cliffhangers) and then promptly broke my promise of the holiday break.
Which led to me yelling SIERRRRRRRA to an empty room. LOL.
10/10, highly recommend.
Good God…
I don’t even know how to write this review. But I’m going to try, because this book deserves it. The series does, for sure.
The only way to possibly elaborate on how much I enjoyed this book is to say that Feast of Sparks was fucking incredible. Better than Book 1, in my opinion, because we get all of that angsty, delicious Auden and Saint stuff that had me drooling and swooning and cursing the author’s name.
Yes, I am cursing Sierra’s name right now. I mean, I love her, but… REALLY, GIRL?!?! That ending slayed me.
And the worst part was that I knew it was coming. I could see that shit a mile away, and yet I demanded to stay inside my bubble of blissful stupidity, to enjoy the baby Dom Auden coming into his true nature, his earning of Poe and Saint, the M is for Mine, Saint’s lip ring, the chase/catch, the panty-melting orgy scene (dear sweet LORD) and their polyamorous thruple stuff that made my heart ache with happiness.
But I knew it wouldn’t last. As soon as Auden asked Poe if she thought Saint would forgive him for anything, I was like, well fuck me sideways. It’s really going to happen.
And it did. Sierra killed me. Because I love St. Sebastian. He’s had my heart since ALIT. I love his need for Poe, and his undying infatuation for Auden. I love what the three of them have together, along with the other three as well, which I’ll admit does fade into background noise sometimes (though I can’t say I didn’t DIE reading the Poe-Becket scene. Hello, Father 😉 ). So when it came time to ruin his life, I knew it would hurt, but I still wasn’t prepared.
The long and short of it is that I NEED Book 3. Now. Immediately. And I’m an author, so I know how hard it is to write lengthy books with multiple characters, especially under a deadline. But I also know how amazing it feels to have people demanding to know what you’re cooking up in your mind, so Sierra Simone, know this: I will feel physically incomplete until I find out what happens next to my darlings at Thornchapel.
And if you hurt them anymore, I’ll be very mad at you! (Though, who am I kidding? I’ll still love you dearly because how could I not? Your writing is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before, and this book, like its first part, was a dark and dreary work of poetic lust, and yet when you gave them bits of light and love, it shone through the parted clouds like a diety itself. I can’t even… Whatever. I’m dead right now.)
I’m rambling. As usual. But I recommend this book to literally everyone. I don’t care who you are. Read it. Open your mind and your heart and fucking READ. THIS. BOOK.
A round of Thorn King and Wild God applause like drums at the chapel for Sierra’s masterpiece of a mind, and Feast of Sparks.
Any one who knows me, understands that Sierra Simone is my unicorn author. Everything she writes drips with evocative magic and beauty, and Feast of Sparks is no different. I loved the second book in the saga about the six young kinksters in rural England and I am waiting with bated breath for the next instalments!
You MUST read book 1, A Lesson in Thorns, first! Also, why haven’t you? Get on that NOW! Oh my where to begin…we get more of St. Sebastian’s POV and feelings in Feast of Sparks and he KILLS me. I just want to hug him and comfort him and likely do very dirty things with him. I absolutely love that we finally find out what happened between him and Auden that caused such pain in the past. Those scenes with Auden and Saint are beautiful, hopeful and devastating. Forgiveness is a big plot point in this book and we finally see Poe, Auden and Saint fully embrace the relationship they all desire and need. But we also get more (YAY!) of Delphine, Rebecca and Beckett and how they belong in this intimate circle of friends. I truly love that we get something personal from each character. It adds more complexity, but the dynamic personalities are everything to the story. More mysteries from the past and Thornchapel are discovered while even more questions arise. This series is so much more than kink and polyamory. It is abundantly clear that Sierra Simone does her research and she has once again artfully written a sophisticated tale of love and intrigue. 5 stars for Feast of Sparks!
Not so patiently waiting for the final book. I sacrificed a full night’s sleep to power read books 1 and 2 back to back, and I’m not even sorry… 😉
Let me start with this , this series I’ve never read something deeper or crazier or sexier than this one . The way Sierra hook you to her books no one can do , the more you read the more you want , and when it come to this book I thought there will be nothing like lesson in thorn but this one is a whole another lever of love , sex , mystery, and the odd friendship . I can’t relate to any character on this book or the things they do but still when you read it you will feel attached to them , every character is this book is different from the other yet no can live without the other , like in a circle they can’t escape , the love between them is the oddest yet it’s their love deeper than the secrets of thornchapel it self , the other thing is in this series you can’t have one ship because believe you’ll want them all which leads right away to what’s actually happening and last I wanna say that cliffhanger was the most shocking thing in the history of cliffhangers , after every complicated thing that happened in that book I can’t imagine how still that twist will complicate it more .
Just let me stop here because no matter what I say I won’t do justice for this one so let me say that you have to break your limits and READ THIS ONE
A story as complex and unique as each of its characters, passionate, sexy, otherworldly and brilliant the author has taken this unlikely group of people to the next level in their special relationship that encompasses friendship, attraction, love and passion. Old wounds are healed and new steps are taken as another ritual comes to pass. I cannot wait for the next one, it is sure to take us even further and I do not think I could possibly love these people any more than I already do!
This book for reals left me with a massive
supernova of thoughts and feelings.
I’m left sorta speechless.
Well, I can’t say because *spoilers*… I
will say that maybe the author has her reasons for that
BIG GINOURMOUS clify. Maybe she did that to throw
us off, maybe not.
Anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new book.
What the Holy Hell did I just read?!?! I sent you into the last book (A Lesson In Thorns) with a forewarning. I not sure I can even begin to try to prepare you for the
“ mind F” this book is about to unleash on you.
Yes, you will still need to have an open mind. In so many ways, probably far more open minded than in the previous book. Because , IMO there is much more sin and debauchery in this book than in the previous book. This book picks up where the last one left off, yet when this one ends there’s so much we have still yet to discover.
Now since you know, I’m a firm believer that #SpoilersSuck I’m gonna give you a few morsels, just not much.
This story focuses a lot on St. Sebastian and what happened between him and Auden that caused such discord. Poe (Proserpina) being the shared desire by the two has made it her mission to reunite them and for the three of them to become one triangle of lovers, so to speak. Will it work? Could there be outside forces that push them apart or pull them closer? I for one ,hope it works. There is something so sweet and perfect about the three of them. Yes, Auden is pretty Alpha, but he’s also really caring and sweet. He’s the perfect package. Little Dom in training that he is. So is St. Sebastian though, he’s amazingly perfect too, yet so different from Auden. It’s almost insane how much I love all six of the characters.
The overall hedonistic vibe of this bookGah! While it’s not something that I’m into IRL, it’s oddly fascinating and intoxicating at the same time. I’m drawn into the almost magical feeling this book invokes in me.
When the group decides to do another ritual what possible consequences could be unleashed this time? We all know what happened after the last Ritual. The last book definitely opened a Pandora’s Box of sensuality for our sexy-six. They have all felt more free to explore who they are sexually, and are gaining confidence. That is finally allowing them to have more sexual experiences. So.Freakin.Hot.
Be prepared to be swept away in a world of darker rituals and horned gods. Nightmares and disturbing buried family secrets. Join these six friends on this angsty, suspenseful, scary, lust and sex filled journey as they search for the answers to what really happened on the grounds of Thornchapel estate.
Be ready to be swept away into this intriguingly dark fairytale world. Take the journey back to Thornchapel today in A Feast of Sparks.
If you thought the last cliffhanger was shocking.
YOU. AIN’T.SEEN.NOTHIN.YET!
It has left me stumped, reeling. I’m not so sure what to think?! How to feel?
I will say…This cliffhanger bomb could impact the future of this entire series, and could be considered offensive by some readers. So I am curious to see what direction the author goes with this revelation. I have my theory as to how it’s gonna play out, but will keep it to myself for now.
My cr8zysockbookblock Ratings for this book!
-Insanity!! I am floored, I love these amazing characters, This is unlike anything I have ever read before an I am dying for next installment because it could change the course of this series.
– Be warned. The debauchery is next level in this book.
There is M/F, M/M, F/F, M/M/F so if that’s not your jam I wouldn’t recommend this book.
Cliffhanger warning-MAJOR CLIFFHANGER with subject that could be considered offensive to some readers- This story is not resolved in this book if cliffhangers offend you, again this probably isn’t the book for you or wait until the series is complete.
Otherwise, Happy Reading my friends!!
I don’t know where to begin…the overarching story, the subplots, the characters, the details, or the depth of feelings the author’s writing evokes? The first book, A Lesson in Thorns, introduced us to six friends with a shared past as children, who reunite several years later as adults, with mixed memories of that strange summer all their families spent together at Thornchapel.
In this second book, the story resumes with a primary focus on the complicated relationship of Auden, Poe and St. Sebastian. The author artfully uses flashbacks to illustrate the complexity of the relationship between Auden and St. Sebastian as they were growing up and how past events now affect their present. The author shares a plethora of details the characters uncover about that fateful summer their parents’ shared, and yet more questions are raised than answered. The interplay of conversations among the various characters keeps everyone involved in the overarching story with scorching levels of passion, sensuality and sex. This book ends on a major jaw-dropping cliffhanger which sometimes leaves readers frustrated. Instead, there’s much for us to speculate and discuss about the revelations in this story to pass the time as we await the next book!
Like the New Camelot series before it with Embry, I was instantly drawn to St. Sebastian in the Thornchapel series. Feast of Sparks picks up where A Lesson in Thorns left off, giving us a closer look at Saint’s past and a view into his mind in the present. I won’t give away specifics, but if you crave hot, sexy, complicated relationships with an air of the supernatural, I strongly recommend this series.
When you go into a book equally as excited as you are terrified, you know an author is doing her job! She is creating a world for you that you can fully immerse yourself into and cannot find an escape from. Not that you want too. It eats at you days and weeks and even months after you consume the last page, and you become desperate for more. Sierra Simone has done just that in Feast of Sparks and this whole world she has created. These 6 childhood friends that have come back together at Thornchapel are EVERYTHING! Everything you want in a romance, everything you crave in a suspense, everything you need in a book to keep you on your toes from cover to cover!
In Feast of Sparks, we pick right back up where we left off in A Lesson in Thorns. Our entwined 6 friends have now become lovers and everything is different. Their relationships continue to grow and expand into more than I’ve ever read in any novel. As things begin to unfold and more questions are answered from the cliffhanger in ALIT, even more questions arise. Poe and Auden and St. Sebastian are on FIRE! Beckett plays a bigger role in this 2nd installment and will leave you panting for more! Rebecca and Delphine are just as zealous as they become more entangled.
The entire story that plays out in this book is just something I can’t even describe spoiler free, even if I wanted too. This is a book series you need to start, and you need to have started it yesterday. It’s fascinating and enchanting, its so erotic it’s on another level from anything I’ve ever read, and it completely and utterly gutted me at certain points in the story. I cannot wait for more of this story and will be counting down the days until Harvest of Sighs!
This one is a lesson in opening up. Taking what you know, what you think you know and molding into a new experience.
The six have learned about the past, about the secrets and about each other. There are limits and limits need to be pushed, coaxed and barreled through!
There is laughter, there is so much emotion, there is pain, there is love. Together, they search, smolder and suffer. Is it a game or is it something else?
The journey is so alluring that they and you cannot turn away without answers. Rituals are exciting, engulfing and shimmers with lust. The ending is crushing!
Sierra Simone is firing my imagination for the next phase of this journey and like our six, I cannot turn away!
I don’t know where to begin. The story picks up where Thorns left off. I love Saint Sebastian. His back story pulled at my heart strings. I was completely spellbound in this enticing story.
4.5 stars
“I am the girl who kneels at night. I am the bride by thorns.”
I really have no idea how Sierra Simone does this. This book left me hot and cold all over the place. This second book in the Thornchapel series is another masterpiece that needs to be devoured. It’s no book you can read in between, you need to take your time as it demands your full attention from the first page to the last.
“You and Poe are like air and water, and he’s earth. He’s fire.”
Like in the first book each of the six characters will pull you in their webs. Even though this second book focuses more on Poe, Auden and Saint, you’ll also get your fill of the other three.
Specifically the attraction and releationship between Poe, Auden and Saint gets explored on a deeper level. We get to know what happened in the past and how Auden and Saint work on their forgiveness.
“I don’t care how you keep me. Just keep me close”
Everything about this book keeps your mind busy. The mystery, the attraction, the unusual relationships. Sierra Simone’s writing style creates a spell that binds you to the book. You won’t be able to leave it. It’s like Thornchapel doesn’t only crawl into the characters of this book, but also into your mind.
“She looks up at him like he’s just given her the moon, and it makes me want to give her the sun instead.”
And let me tell you one thing: You’ll start to guess and have your suspicions because of well placed hints all through the story. Trust your gut, you won’t be wrong. The end will come like the huge wave you see coming but then you’ll be surpised it hit so hard.
“The soul of you, Poe, is a soul made for living, and living hurts most of all.”
Feast of Sparks is as hypnotic, intriguing and powerful as the first book. It will leave its marks in your mind and crawling under your skin like no other story.
