I’m an outcast and a loner, named for death itself. Fate wasn’t supposed to have plans for me.But then she came back–the girl I once kissed in a thorn-covered chapel in the woods. She came back, and I could no more resist her than I could pry out my own heart. And by some trick of fate, she wants me as much as I want her. The only problem? She also wants the man who owns Thornchapel, Auden Guest. Auden Guest.
And so do I.
Eight years ago, I did something to Auden, something terrible. He hurt me back the only way he knew how, and so here we are: our hatred seasoned with pain and my loneliness seasoned with longing. The only thing we can agree on is Proserpina Markham, and she wants us to find a way to be together–all three of us.
If Auden wants to earn her as his submissive, then he has to earn me as well.
But with the discovery of bones behind the altar and the carnal revel of Beltane fast approaching, it’s becoming clear that Thornchapel’s secrets are much deeper and older than any of us could have ever guessed. And no matter how bright and merry a feast of sparks may be, it’s always followed by ashes.
And darkness.
Feast of Sparks is Book Two in the Thornchapel series.
more
You can never go wrong with a book written by Sierra Simone and I am loving the Thornchapel series so much! In Feast of Sparks, the second book in the series, you will be consumed, 100% consumed with this story and the characters so much. I could not put this book down once I started it. The characters owned me from the first words to the very last.
We begin to learn more about Saint, Proserpina (Poe) and Auden and more of their history as they take more of center stage in this one. We do pick up where we left off in A Lessons in Thorns, which must be read first, and continue the wild and erotic ride with these characters. And that ending! I was blown away and cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Release Date: August 1, 2019
Genre: Erotica/Romance
Feast of Sparks is the second book in the Thornchapel series and MUST be read in order!!! I love this authors writing style and she really brings originality to the romance genre! I found this one to be kinky, delicious, and swoon worthy. I don’t normally care for books with a million sex scenes but for some reason, the sensuality that Sierra writes about in this book drew me in. I love the unconventional relationships that take place. I love how this story isn’t just about sex but that the sex adds to the story. I love these characters, I love their interactions, and I love how this book has so much more meaning than any other erotic novel I have read. I know many readers are going to love this one and I know there will be some that are turned off by the story line and how the characters engage with one another. To each their own!
Truth be told, this isn’t really my type of book but I went into it (and A Lesson in Thorns) with an open mind and truly fell in love. I’m exited to be taken back into the fantasy world with these characters in the next book! Be sure to read A Lesson in Thorns though first as this book is a continuation of it. Also, don’t expect this one to be completely finished. There is much more to come!
“This is just a bonfire we spent too long making, and this is just a circle of old lanterns that we found in Thornchapel’s attic. These are just my friends—my fussy, hilarious, prickly, pretty friends—and I’m just me. I’m not a bride, I’m not a May Queen. I’m just a librarian who likes to be spanked.”
This author shook me with this book. Shook. Me. I was not prepared for what she gave us. It’s heart-stopping, intriguing, and wickedly sexy. It raises the bar on anything she has given us thus far. She really out did herself with this one.
“Maybe Thornchapel is a magic place, but it isn’t a safe place.”
The story is wild, out of the box, unconventional, and scandalous. You can’t help but to love each one of these characters. They raise the stakes on their activities at Thornchapel. If any of the activities in A Lesson In Thorns made you uncomfortable, then I wouldn’t read this one. If you enjoyed the first one, then grab this one now. It’s everything and then some.
“We are born to burn.”
As their relationships evolve, I fall even more for these characters. The story with Saint and Auden is probably my favorite so far. Everything that happened with them in this book was phenomenal. I cried, laughed, and swooned so so hard. I love all these friends but those two are the ones I’m invested in so far.
“I am the girl who kneels at night. I am the bride by thorns.”
I think Sierra is the gold standard, as far as I’m concerned, for erotica romance. She writes it with skill, respect, and full of seduction. I implore everyone to check out any of her books and prove me wrong on this. She is flat out amazing.
“Keep me any way you want, I want to tell him. Just so long as you keep me close.”
ARC in exchange for an honest review
“If I could rearrange the world for you, I would,” he says. “I’d rearrange everything.”
I will state in every review I write for Sierra Simone, NO ONE can write a better sex scene than her! Wow! Book 2 picked up right where book 1 left off. Feast of Sparks was sexy, mind blowing, intense and everything in between. Her characters were perfect and well thought out. I couldn’t put this down. Bring on book 3!
What to say about a book that is so eloquently written that I know my words are not on the same level. Sierra Simone is a mastermind, master weaver, master writer, ok just plain masterful at writing a story that is so in depth and involved that you, as a reader, lose yourself completely, and when you finish, you wondered what just happened. The detail and knowledge and research for this book, and series as a whole, makes this read just wonderful.
We are taken back to Thornchapel for Beltane and we get to learn more as to why Auden, Saint, Proserpina, Rebecca, Delphine, and Becket are so drawn to the place and events surrounding them. Their history and link to the magical, sacred place is revealed a little more. And we get to see them open up to each other ever more. I cannot wait for the next book.
Book Two is Here! I repeat book two of the Thornchapel series is here and you better be ready! If you thought the first book was hot and mysterious you haven’t read anything yet! This is St. Sebastian “Saint” Martinez, Auden Guest & Proserpina “Poe” Markham’s story. Saint has loved Auden Guest for 8 years, but Auden is a complicated soul. They both want Proserpina to be theirs too. Auden wants her submission…”if I could rearrange the world for you, I would…I’d rearrange everything.” But with so many mysteries unraveling behind Thornchapel, Poe’s mother and the past, can any of them find what they are truly looking for? Writing a review for this book is difficult as there are so many facets and I don’t want to spoil anything for you. Be prepared though for all the hotness!! Told in dual POV with intervals of third person to understand the full scene of past and present. Again, since this is a series, it ends in a major cliffhanger preparing you for book 3. Bdsm, MF, MM, FMF, MMF, and well pretty much every scenario you can think of!! Be ready!
When a book is THIS FUCKING GOOD, I actually dread reviewing it because I know no amount of words, or how I word this review will actually give you a glimpse on how amazing this book truly is. But I will try…
Sierra Simone is an all-time favorite author of mine, she’s one of the authors I will always go back and re-read. One I seek comfort in when reading her books. She truly is the queen when it comes to writing a story. Her words are pure gold, I am not kidding. Her way with words, the way she weaves them together, the way she masters a plot is mind-blowing and it continues to amaze me. She is one of the authors that made me truly fall in love with romance. She throws all expectations out the window and gut punches you with stories and characters that you obsess over months, years, decades even after you’ve finished the damn book/series and this book? It was no different.
Feast of Sparks is book two in Thornchapel series, and it MUST be read in ORDER, or you are going to be all kinds of confused.
Book one was epic, and it left me with a hangover for months, it wasn’t until I started reading book 2 that it started to ease.
Where do I start? without giving anything away? GAHHH!! Well, firstly whatever the hell you are expecting with book 2.. Don’t expect it. Expect the unexpected, and even then don’t expect that either. We get to know Auden, Proserpina and St. Sebastian a hell of a lot more. On an intimate level… Like A LOT more, but the book isn’t solely focused on them. It still blends in everyone. Not too much, and not too little. It was actually PERFECT. There was so much going on in book 1 and book 2 isn’t much different. I don’t actually know how Ms. Simone does it. She throws us into a plot so heavy and packed that it is almost like drowning (In the best fucking way 😉 ). I spent the better half of this book cursing out loudly, and my eyes bugging out of their sockets. It was mind-fuckingly beautiful and I don’t think any words I try and put together to describe this book will do it justice. It needs to be experienced.
If you haven’t started this series. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?!
Go and get book 1… Sierra Simone will blow your fucking mind and probably ruin you for other authors. The woman is legendary and will go down in history for me.
EPIC. MIND FUCKINGLY BEAUTIFUL, INSANELY INTENSE AND ALL-CONSUMING… Basically, A Sierra Simone book down to a T!
Bring on book 3: Harvest of Sighs
I NEED IT NOW.
4 and 1/2 stars of woah!
Are you ready to have your mind blown? Because I am fairly certain it will happen. The story picks up from A Lesson of Thorns and it seems the group has only scratched the surface of the secrets that have been concealed. The friends are falling deeper and deeper into the depths of Thornchapel. The past is coming back and brings pain and despair. But there are also moments of joy where the friends support one another in their time of need.
I don’t want to go too in depth into the story but basically this is what I felt: surprise, intrigue, getting hot under the collar, mind whirling with possible explanations, mouth wide open during revelations, fans needed to cool down and shock at the ending!
There are still so many secrets lurking within Thornchapel. The parents of our little group know something but refuse to speak. What are they hiding? It seems that once these rituals are started, it might be impossible to stop. But what will the consequences be in the end? What will be sacrificed? Where will it leave everyone? Urgh!! I don’t know if I can wait until Harvest of Sighs!!
OH NO SHE DIDN’T!!!!!!!
True to Sierra Simone form she delivered another intense story filled with heavy literature and then leaves us begging for more. Once I started this book I literally could not put it down. I was so immersed in the story and the characters. I felt as if the story came to life.
This book picks up where book one left off. So yes you need to read A Lesson in Thorns first. More secrets are revealed and relationships are taken further in a way only Simone can do. This book will definitely have you flipping the pages and your toes curling.
I don’t want to say to much because I don’t want to give anything away and I feel my words won’t do this book justice. It was a great read!!! But just FYI there is a HUGE cliffhanger so be aware.
I love this sort of books just when written just right. Sierra Simone know the perfect balance to so even though we get pretty interesting scenes, the story within is appealing. The characters show their vulnerabilities, there is heart wrenching parts, love, sensuality and a bit of jealousy to keep you going. When reading Sierra Simone you need to know her stories and characters are not in the normal range of what you might expect, it is much more than just a couple and secondary characters. Can’t wait for the next one.
Sierra Simone is a poet of pictures. She writes a story with such visualization that you feel like you can see the story and feel the emotions of the characters, not just read the words on paper.
Auden, St. Sebastian, Poe, Rebecca, Delphine and Becket all move within this story like puzzle pieces slowly coming together to make a full picture, filling in the spaces while they try to solve some of the mysteries of their past in order to understand their present. The relationships between these characters and dynamics of this story are sensual, erotic, complex and are many years in the making.
Thornchapel has a sense of magic wrapping around it. It is also a place of mystery tying together the past and the present and it pulls at this group like a magnet. Are drawn to the myths, rituals and secrets or are the myths, rituals and secrets drawing them in deeper? And what are their meanings? So many questions still need to be answered so hold on because you will have to wait until the next book in the series to see how more of this story unravels.
Feast of Sparks is the second book in The Thornchapel series and you must read the first book to understand the second.
Sierra Simone has written an intense, magical and erotic story that will captivate you. She brings a depth to her characters that is unsurpassed. When she describes a place, a celebration, or a character, you can picture it all clearly in your mind. Sierra takes you to Thornchapel with her words, and proceeds to blow your mind with the stroke of her pen. Sierra Simone is an amazing storyteller.
Feast of Sparks is book two in the Thornchapel series. This series will be a total of four books. You must have read A Lesson in Thorns before reading Feast of Sparks. Otherwise, you will not understand everything that transpires.
A Lesson in Thorns ended with these six characters having just performed their interpretation of Imbolc. Now, they’re all preparing for the next ritual, Beltane. My feelings were all over the place with this book. We finally get the backstory to what happened between Saint and Auden, which puts into perspective the bad feelings they hold towards one another.
Becket gets his time to shine in Feast of Sparks, and I personally couldn’t have been more excited. I Love some Becket, and needs LOTS more. Sierra has a way with words that bring you into these character’s world. She can take religion, love, sex and make them intertwine so that you feel like it’s right from the beginning. Poe, Auden and Saint have such a special relationship, that even they are going to have to learn how to make it work. But wouldn’t we all try hard to have a love like theirs?
Cliffhanger is a massive understatement for the way Sierra ended Feast of Sparks. I was left sitting wondering what in the world just happened. Now the wait 2020 begins. Don’t mind me as I’ll be over here losing my mind.
