There’s a psychic fayre heading to Whittlecombe.Alf, the witch, didn’t see it coming … perhaps she should have done.Whittle Inn is up and running and gaining in popularity. Proud owner Alfhild Daemonne can afford to relax, can’t she? Apparently not. When her neighbouring inn decides to host the south west region’s largest ever Psychic and Holistic Convention, you’d think that would allow Alf the … think that would allow Alf the opportunity to make lots of new friends. Think of it! Dozens and dozens of fortune tellers, mediums, diviners, psychics, rune-tellers, witch doctors, and even a voodoo priestess from New Orleans – all gathered together in one big field.
Not so.
Alf is banned from attending the Fayre and looks set to miss out – until Wizard Shadowmender sends her on an undercover operation that is.
In the meantime, someone is sending Alf death threats and many of her friends in the village of Whittlecombe are subject to fearful fortune tellings and terrible tarot readings at the Fayre.
It appears that dark forces are gathering in Whittlecombe.
Will Alf make it to her 31st birthday?
And just who is it that wishes her harm?

‘The characters are so full of life that they jump out of the page.’ Amazon Reviewer
‘I so enjoyed this deliciously quirky (and, yes, wonky!) story. I expected it to be good but it is much better than that. I’m not sure how to slide this entertaining story into a genre ‘slot’ but I also don’t think it’s very important to label it with anything other than “a surprisingly wonderful adventure”. I love it and I highly recommend it and sincerely hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.’ Amazon Reviewer

I did read this as a stand alone novel but am enjoying this series so much I have to catch up on the few books I have missed, A Psychic Fayre is coming to Whittlecombe. This is surprising as the humans still do not seem to accept magick as real. Alf’s Wonky Inn has been doing well and although there is another hotel in the small community, she does not see her clientele ass a threat to any other business. Alf is shocked when she is expressly FORBIDDEN from attending the fayre. She is also disappointed when her beau, George, will be away for her birthday. A chance to do some “under cover” work, which seems very important in the fight against The Mori, will be a distraction she needs.
Exciting and dangerous and a whole lot of fun, this book had me wanting to stay deep within the story until the lat page was turned. And WOW- what an impact!
I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Whittlecombe is the midst of preparing for a Psychic and Holistic Convention. Alf isn;t too keen on the faire because she realizes alot of the psychics are fakes and take advantage of those who want a connection to a relative who;s passed. Unfortunately Alf is also under seige…she;s been receiving threatening letters. The last one just about guarantees her death on her birthday. She doesn;t want to take it to her beau, DS George Gilchrist. When she finds out that she is being barred from the faire because she;s a trouble maker, she discovers that George will be away for several weeks and won;t or can;t say why not. She;s called to Shadowmender;s in London and while there a discovery that could well be the Mori is revealed which also seems to involve Lyle Cavendish receiving quite a sum of money on the first for a few months. Now it;s up to Alf to find out what his relationship is to the Mori. So leaving the inn in control of her grandmama and Charity, disguised as a Romany gypsy named Fabulous Fenella the Far-Sighted. She ventures to in a real wagon with horse she is now at the faire to ply her trade and try to find information on Lyle, the Mori, and Astutus, a financial institution that seems to have suddenly disappeared when Shadowmender investigates it. Then to put in a wrench, she spots her George who;s gone undercover also to try to find a gang dealing in dangerous items and trespassing on another gang;s territory. The scene is set, Alf and George are set and as Homes would say–the game;s afoot!
Fantastic story that will keep you enthralled as you catch up with Alf and all her shenanigans.

This series gets better with every book! This one is quite dark, with mysterious goings on at a local Fayre, and people’s lives are in danger. The characters grow on you more and more, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
The fourth in this series takes on a deeper, darker tone as a mysterious enemy threatens deadly harm both to Alf and to those she loves. Ends on a fearsome cliffhanger.
I am really loving this series. I get more attached to all of these wonderful characters with each new book in the series! With Book 4 of the Wonky Inn Series, Fearful Fortunes and Terrible Tarot, author Jeannie Wycherly takes to a slightly different venue. In this book, we spend a lot of time AWAY from the Wonky Inn. The other local Inn, The Hay Loft, is hosting a festival of sorts, featuring psychics and shamans and spiritualists. At first, our heroine, Alf, turns up her nose at the festival, assuming it will be populated with charlatans. But when signs begin to grow stronger that the Mori (the bad guys) may have returned, she finds she need to put on her detective hat and participate in the festival after all. In an unexpected way. As with all the Wonky Inn books, there’s a lot of humor and sass in this book and I enjoyed it quite a bit. There is some romance as well, which I am a BIG fan of. Most of these end neatly and are stand alones…this one ends with a bit of a cliffhanger. The main storyline is resolved, but there’s a new “gotcha” near the end that has me wanting to knock on the author’s door every night until I get a (hopefully) satisfactory resolution. These are clever books, with a clearly British sensibility, and I really recommend them.

I was hooked on this series by the first few pages of the very first book. Each book since has captured my heart even more. The setting is enchanting and makes me want to visit. I love Alf and her friends, both human and ghostly. I’d love to find out more about the ghosts and who can see them and how. I hope their adventures continue for many more books.
The psychic fayre is coming which she is looking forward too. She finds out she is not allowed to go. She is getting death threats and her friends are being given dire fortunes. She is asked to go undercover. Who wants her dead? Will she find out? See if she will

The world of the Wonky Inn keeps growing, with new friends, enemies and adventures.
This is book four of the series and things keep getting better and better. The book can be enjoyed as a standalone. You will be a little overwhelmed by all the zany characters at first, but you will catch on to all the essentials quickly enough to enjoy the story. That said, after reading this one, you will probably want to go back and fill in the gaps, so just keep that in mind.
I was so happy to return to the Wonky Inn for yet another adventure. As with all the previous stories, it was very well written, with an interesting plot and lots of bizarre characters. The plot has plenty of twists and turns which keep things moving along, but the real star as usual are the characters. They are just plain fun and provide enough humor to keep things from getting too heavy.
Once again, a wonderful story which will draw you in and keep you engaged right up to the end. Be sure to set aside plenty of time to read as you won’t want to put it down.
Highly recommended.

A Fayre to Remember….
A very powerful and enjoyable read set at a Psychic Fayre. Great story filled with magic, suspense, intrigue, twists and turns, humor, wonderful characters and a cliffhanger. No HEA yet. I look forward to reading the next book. Enjoy!
I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
This was the first book that I have read by Jeannie Wycherley. It was not difficult to catch on to what has happened in previous books, and I was grateful for that. I was thoroughly intrigued by the plot and totally surprised by the ending. Now, I have to go back and read the others in this series.

Hilariously fun, emotionally thrilling adventure filled with danger, mystery, magic and heart pounding twists and turns….. overall a highly entertaining and exciting visit to the Wonky Inn and I look forward to the next adventure.
Alf needs to get into the psychic Fayre that The Hay Loft is hosting to hopefully get answers about the Mori, unfortunately for her she has been barred from it by Lyle. This then leads to Alf hiding in plain sight with a little help of magic, meeting new mysterious people, learning more about the history of Whittlecombe and finding out more about the Mori. There is a lot more action, twists and the ending… wow when is the next book out!
Oh and now I what to visit a Purveyor of Perfect Pork Products!!
This story kept me on the edge of my seat. What Happened to George where is he? I want to read the next book these are questions I want answers to. A well written story that kept me turning pages, there is mystery, suspense, drama, danger, arson, attempted drownings, and Mori. This is a really good series with great characters and page-turning action. This is a paranormal cozy mystery series and while it helps to read all of them, it is stand-alone but may have some spoilers. This story is very good.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat! I couldn’t figure out what the heck was going on but I loved every word! That ending? Oh. My. Word. I can’t wait for the next book! WOW!
Whittle Inn owner and witch Alf has been banned from the Psychic and Holistic Fayre sponsored by a rival inn owner, however, this doesn’t stop her from attending. Wizard Shadowmender needs her to go undercover to find out about the dark forces (Mori) that are gathering in the town of Whittlecombe.
There is a lot going on in this the fourth book in the series. It is much darker than the previous books as Alf experiences some of which past witches were faced in history and it has a cliff hanger for an ending (which right now I am not liking). I am hoping book five ends on a very happy note for our heroine and her honey George.
With that all said, I love the writing style and how the author is able to mix a bit of reality in with the paranormal fiction. The characters have great dimension and I love how Alf, Charity, and her ghostly friends interact with each other to form a loving “family”.

Alf has really come into her own, and now she’s taking on something – and someone – new. A physic fair comes to town sponsored by her rival innkeeper and she’s been banned, so she goes in with a magical disguise to find trouble brewing. There’s so much going on that I couldn’t put it down.
The characters are quirky and fun as ever, and the story moves along at a great pace. I just love these books. There is a cliffhanger ending which just makes me all the more eager to read Book #5!

This is the fourth book of Alf, a witch who owns an inn and a few houses she rents out. Having been forced in the past (books) to fight crime and prejudice, she is surprised when her nemesis, the owner of the other inn in town, arranges for a psychic fair. He bans Alf and her friends from the fair, but they have their own ways to get access and find out what is going on.
The story brings us the usual mystery, a threat to Alf’s life and the story ends in a cliff hanger. The next book is a must, if you care about Alf and her friends.

Wow, you need a scorecard to keep up with all the activity in this book! The action never stops!
Alfhild Daemonne, the quirky witch owner of the Wonky Inn, battles against pure evil in this Book 4. Since Alf has been banned from attending a local Fayre hosted by a neighboring inn – attended by fortune tellers, mediums, diviners, psychics, rune-tellers, witch doctors, and even a voodoo priestess from New Orleans — and with rumors of dark magic being suspected, Wizard Shadowmender asks her to go undercover to find out what is going on. Indeed, it appears that dark forces are definitely gathering in Whittlecombe! People are in danger and bad things are happening. Even Alf may not be able to protect everyone.
Great writing, great characters, escalating story line! Don’t miss this latest book in the series! It’s getting more exciting than ever before and you won’t want to be left behind!
