I had to stop SEVERAL times while reading this book. It was utterly draining on my mental and emotional abilities. It was pushing all of my “hard limits” so to speak. And I say that in terms of how Kieran treated Lake throughout 80% of the book and the fact that she continued to let him do so! I had some serious whiplash by the end. I thought maybe Lake would grow a backbone in this book, but her vagina seemed to do all the thinking for her. Whenever Kieran wasn’t in her sight she would be all tough girl, “he won’t use me again.” and then he’d appear out of nowhere and *poof* panties (and brains) would disappear. It was so frustrating!
“You don’t know me beyond my cock, Monroe. Don’t pretend otherwise.” REALLY???
But now all that anger and angst aside, I was able to appreciate this book and BB’s ability to convey WHY Kieran was such a tortured soul who thrived on tormenting Lake. He ain’t nobody’s hero after all. He most definitely is the most broken character I have read to date. His past is HORRIBLE and BB painted that vividly and it broke my heart for him. That’s why I am able to soften toward him to a degree. But he was still very much an a**hole to Lake.
Kieran’s past was revealed in this book and unexpected connections were made. #plottwists We do get to see a more vulnerable Kieran by the end, but man oh man, I would’ve liked to see more of that side of him earlier on. He was just MEAN at times, which had me…*throws kindle*
Like book 1, FEAR ME, this book left me trying to define HOW I feel about Keiran and Lake. I am still very much torn, but at the end of the day, they really are meant to be together. I honestly don’t think they would be able to find anyone else that would tolerate the things they do to each other. I guess I had just hoped that Kieran would’ve softened sooner in this book because I felt like for 1 and a 1/2 books, he was horrible to her and we got a tiny amount of love at the end of book 2.
Gosh, I think I may need therapy after reading this. But with all that being said, I guess I am a gluten for punishment because I will be reading book 3, FEAR US, because I need to know what happens with Sheldon and Keenan and hopefully I will get to see a more functional and loving Kieran and Lake. fingers crossed This book is definitely not for the faint at heart. This is hate to love at it’s core, with a large amount of hate. Go into it expecting to have moments where you want to throw your kindle and be extremely frustrated with the main characters. But that right there is a testament to BB’s writing abilities again. She definitely makes you feel while reading this book.
This is the second instalment of the Broken Love series by B. B. Reid. Fear You is a dark enemies-to-lovers romance with a lot of angst, steam and teen-drama.
This high school bully romance contains a lot of dark topics such as kidnappings, murder, child abuse etc. I highly recommend you to read the disclaimer before diving in.
The first book was written only from Lake’s POV but the second book was from both Kieran’s and Lake’s POVs. So if you weren’t satisfied with Kieran’s reasoning for bullying Lake or needed to know more about his mysterious past, you should definitely read this book! This book will give you answers to most of those questions.
Anyway, overall it was a good read, with a lot of room for improvement! This was my first read by B. B. Reid and I might give some of her new books a go in the future!
Audio review:
SO MUCH DRAMA AND TENSION, my anxiety was on overdrive!
Twisted, sexy, sad, scary and beautiful are just some of the words that come to mind when I think of this story.
I’m in need of a stiff drink and perhaps some therapy now.
My only annoyance is the continuous whiplash I got from Kieran and Lake trying to protect or resist each other.
Teddy and Ava did a fabulous job of narration.
Another phenomenal book by BB Reid! Kieran really made me angry in book 1 and he had his moments in this book where he really pissed me off but he also had his moments of goodness that as a reader of romance, especially dark romance are really redeeming although others would say they weren’t. Maybe dark romance readers are a different breed but I absolutely loved Kieran in this book even when he was a jerk. Everything that Kieran has been through in his life could have led him in a completely different direction, but I’d like to believe that because of Lake he ended up being redeemable.
I loved this book and all the characters. Kieran, Lake, Keenan, Dash, Willow and Sheldon were all great characters and I’m excited to read books about the others too.
So much explained! The first book, Fear Me, left me full of questions and all the juicy details unfold in Fear You. Once the light bulb clicked on for me in this book it got so good!
Kieran is back and broody as ever. I’ll admit I got a bit annoyed at him again for being able to just turn himself off from Lake however when things are explained I get it. Lake definitely stepped up a bit more here in this book and I liked that she demanded what she wanted more. I can’t believe how it all unfolded at the end and amazed at the strength of these two young people, especially Kieran, to have gone through so much. I am looking forward to reading more in the series and getting all the details on the rest of this bunch. They all had such big roles in these first two books I’m sure their stories will be amazing!
***5 “The Dark Lord” stars from me***
“Dear Diary . . .
It’s been a long time now and I miss my parents. I wish they would change their mind and not leave me behind. Every day I go to my new school and every day he makes me cry. I think I’m supposed to hate him, but all I want to do is help him.”
God, what a difficult and emotional ride was that!!!!
And imagine that i thought that the first book was tough…
This one broke my heart in tiny million pieces again and again!!!
How much pain can bare a soul??? How can you witness such things and to stay untouched???
Keiran’s past made my tears to fall unstoppable…
Keiran and Lake’s present was so damn hard and frustrated me as hell…
It was so difficult for them to come to their redemption…
As for their future together???
Thank God that i finally manage to crack a smile!!!
In this book, we finally received the answers to a million questions from the first book and even more that they were created during the second installment…
We saw new people and already known to us people…
We realized the how and the why’s of the actions that led in some interesting facts…
We saw the tables to get turned, hidden feelings to come to light, old and new enemies to seek for revenge… and in the middle of all this madness was Keiran and Lake.
The tormentor and his victim.
The boy which for ten years inflicted fear to an innocent girl.
But what if the big bad wolf was the one who was scared of the innocent and pure lamb????
“There were many times I’d come close to giving in to the torment in Monroe’s eyes but never did.
I never would either.
Because she was also the only person who could destroy me.
She just didn’t know it.”
I already told you how much i loved Keiran in the first book.
He was an asshole, he liked to inspire fear and he was beyong the average teenage boy.
He was ruthless and bad and he wasn’t hesistate in front of anything!!!!
Yep, i know that many of you will think that it is extremely unrealistic to exist a person like that at this age. But i think that nothing is impossible in real life, especially when you were forced to live the first years of your life like Keiran was forced to…
“ONE MAN’S GREED IS ANOTHER MAN’S TRAGEDY.”
In the first book, we were having only Lake’s POV, but in this one we were having both POV’s and mostly from Keiran’s side and that was sooooo… interesting and enlightening!!!
It was amazing the experience to be inside his head, but his memories were unbearable… They were killing me and they were making me so sad!!!
His life wasn’t full of rose petals, but full of cutting thorns, so he had to grow up sooner than the other kinds. He had to be in control all the time and he had to not feel, because feelings were meant weakness…
That’s why he was hated so much Lake… Because he made him feel…
I think that this book was dedicated mostly to Keiran. It was only for him and it was worth it!!!!
“I may not have a heart, but if I were you, I’d be afraid of what beats in its place.”
I won’t lie to you… Lake and Keiran frustrated me so much that sometimes i felt furious with them…
At the end of the previous book, we left them apart and Lake made something stupid that led Keiran in prison!
Now, he is pissed off and he wants to take revenge even more than before…
But there are some holes in his plans!!!
Firstly, she made him feel something unknown and secondly, he can’t be near to her without touching her…
OH!!! Except the above the little smooth kitty turned out to be a tiger. His little victim stood up and she is starting to confront him all the time…
And that is turning him on and pissing him off at the same time!!!
So between them is starting for once again a small war, but at the same time they surrounded them many dangers. So where they will have to focus???
“Then you’d better be ready to pay the consequences. You don’t want me the way you think you do, and you definitely don’t want me as an enemy. This isn’t going to end with love, baby. This is just another tragedy waiting to happen.”
“Like Lily?” she asked. “Was that really her tragedy or yours, and whose will it be this time? Yours? Or mine?”
“It will be both of ours.”
Yep, as you read above Lake started to fight back and i was proud of her but at the same time i was feeling a little bit angry. Why i felt like that???
I think that she decided to fight back a little bit late and she made it for the wrong reasons…
It pissing me off that she had made cause of her life to land Keiran in jail…
Sweetheart, first you should now for sure that he did what you accussed him that he did.
Yep, he was far from a saint, but he didn’t deserved this treatment.
And i think that she should have fight back, back then in the previous book before the things comes to that ugly point…
“Stop calling me Monroe. My name is Lake, and I wasn’t aware I was supposed to make anything easy for you. Should I show you the same mercy you showed me?”
I grabbed her face with my hands and held her eyes. “I want you to realize what’s at stake here if you keep pushing me.”
“You never played fair before,” she whispered.
Fuck.
I let her face go. Those twinkling blue-green eyes were pure torture to my dick. “I don’t know what I want more—to kiss you or kill you.”
For once again, there was so much denial in this book…
No, Keiran and Lake weren’t having feelings for each other, that’s why in every opportunity they were jumbing each other’s bones!!!
Ugh-hu!!! Keep thinking that!!!
I will admit that their scenes together were hot as hell, but they were much less that the first book!!!
I wanted Keiran and Lake together… What can i say???
I’m a very sick person, but don’t judge me!!! They are just fictional characters!!! In real life, i really don’t know how i would react!!!
Beyond that, the story was well written and it was having so much suspense and agony!!!
You didn’t know what to expect in every turn.
You didn’t know what will chase them and how they were gonna overpass all those dangerous people that they were after them!!!
Also, i would like to say that i loved all the other characters that they were surrounding them… especially Keenan and Sheldon… Willow and Dash…
And because their lives also turned upside down, i would like to see them find their happiness too!!!
And now, it is Keenan’s turn who had a difficult time with what happened to him and all the secrets that split his world apart…
I really would like to see Keiran’s and Keenan relationship to get healed… They deserved it!!!
The scene with Keiran and his mother, i think it cracked me down!!!
It’s true!!! I’m addicted to this series and especially to Keiran and i honestly don’t know how i will survive without him!!!
Yep, he was the monster, the bad guy, but he got into me really deep!!!
And together with Lake, they give another meaning to the term “Broken love”!!!
More broken that this could not ever exist!!!
““I want to be yours, but are you sure you can live with a broken love like ours?”
“I think it’s been proven I can take whatever you throw at me. Love is much more powerful than fear.”
I couldn’t deny what we had was born out of darkness, but instead of pulling her into my dark world, she led me to a light I wasn’t sure I even deserved.”
Don’t fear this book! 5 stars
There is a thin line between love and hate, and Keiran and Lake straddled it in this brilliant book! The push and pull between them is intense! Keiran’s past was very dark, and it broke my heart. Lake was done being pushed around and fearful, and her evolution in this book was spectacular. Lake was the light pulling Keiran out of his darkness. When he overcame his fears, finally realized it was love he was feeling and that he wanted forever with her, it was a beautiful to read. I don’t think there are words to do this book justice except to say don’t fear these books (Fear Me and Fear You), just go on this roller coaster of intense brilliance and read them!
Ooh, this dark and twisted book was so good! This was the continuation of Lake and Keiran’s story and it was written perfectly. There was all the angst and tension and hate/love that I loved from the first book. And it was hot enough to melt my Kindle. I can not wait to dive into the rest of the stories from this world!
4.5 STARS!!
Revenge. Lust. War.
There’s a thin line between love and hate. I feel like we played hopscotch on that line. I have to be honest, I missed the cruelty from Keiran, not many readers liked him in the first, I happened to fall face first into love with his darkness. I just can’t help it, I’m wired wrong. To say I wanted this book is the understatement of the year. Fear Me, the first book is one of my top favorite books this year. I’m not giving you that much of a review, I don’t spoil. But if you’re looking for suspense, this sucker is going to keep you on your toes. All the questions you probably had after reading Fear Me, will be answered. The angst between Lake and Keiran is my favorite part in these books. I like the banter, the love/hate, the tension. BB Reid, has got it down.
“I felt the onslaught of the familiar yet intense need for Monroe, and when I get her, I will do one of two things—kill her or fuck her.”
Now, the cry babies who needed more romance… Well, you get some, but don’t go thinking this is hearts and flowers. And believe me when I say this, Thank you for not ruining the characters. They evolved, not losing their spark. Like I said in the beginning, I wanted cruel, and I did get some of my Keiran from the first book, it was just different this time. A look into his past, the way it shaped his future, the reason behind “him.” Lake still pissed me off, I don’t understand her. For some reason, I still think she’s weak. Or maybe, I just want Kieran to myself, call me a jealous bitch. Anyway, this was a perfect conclusion, I can’t wait to read the next book. I don’t care who it’s about, it could be about the pet fish and I’d read it.
“I’m not a sunshine and roses kind of guy. I’ll probably never be able to lay you down on a bed of roses and make love to you.” I slipped my arms around his neck. “Maybe I don’t want roses.” I bit his bottom lip, which instantly led to a kiss that threatened to consume us both. “Maybe I prefer your thorns.”
“In his arms, I didn’t have the strength to fight him. I didn’t have the strength to care that he was a monster carved from a past that was undoubtedly dark. I. Just. Didn’t. Care.”
Lake and Kieran are a psychological mind numbing anomaly and I couldn’t get enough! The battle of wills was intoxicating, and just as Lake became powerless, I too stopped fighting my judgements of Kieran and just let myself sink into the story. Is it wrong to like these characters so much? Maybe, but I don’t even care, these types of books are my jam because they are unlike anything else and elicit such powerful feels I can’t even describe it. I am binging this entire series as we speak and want to do nothing else until the last book is read!!
“My body betrayed me each time he looked at me. His eyes seemed to send me a message that I couldn’t yet decipher, but I knew it held a promise that I wasn’t sure I would want him to keep.”

This book is so intense . Beginning to end. We learn more about Keirans past. They still struggle with their love/hate as he tries to protect her. He fits the alpha a-hole and goes above it. I didn’t see a lot of it coming. It keep me so drawn in!! Love her writing style.
Ohh i really loved this book i know I’m late to the party but better late then never. After the first book in this series finished i wasn’t sure which way this book would go.
The storyline in this book was fantastic we really got see see some of keirens past and really find out what happened to him and i must admit in the first book he was one nasty person but this book brought it all out and you can see why he thought he was such a bad person and i could see the potential of him being an amazing guy.
I loved Lake in this book as well she got a back bone in a sense and really started to stand up to keiren but at the same time she was still so caught up in their connection as well but it was so good to see her fight back a little.
At first i was like ok were learning to background stuff here but i was pleasantly surprised where this story was taking us and i wasn’t expecting so many secrets or hidden agendas in this book but when you have Mitch, Arthur, Mario, Mrs Risdell, even Aunt Carissa everyone was up to something and there was nothing better than it all coming together in the end.
I really loved this book and by the end i fell in love with both Keiren and Lake and their love story.
Now i can’t wait to read keerens story super excited to get in to that book
These books, and their characters and their stories, demanded to be read. Everyone in my family knew better than to let me sit down with this book because if I did, I wasn’t stopping until I’d read a chunk. There was a little over 100 pages left and it was about 9:30 and my son said there’s no way you finish that before bed. Silly child. I needed to see Keiran and Lake through until the end. Yes, I know they will be in the final book but I was pretty sure something were going to be wrapped up and I was not disappointed. Some things I was able to guess because hello, I read a lot of romance but other things or exactly the way some stuff happened took me by surprise. There are still many more answers that I want and I hope to get in the next three books. But I freaking love every word of this story so far. I love these damaged humans that are trying so hard to just be okay. They are so flawed and so many of their emotions are displaced. And don’t even get me start of the smoky steaminess that is Keiran Masters. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again… How can be so mean and so hot at the same time?? No words. Actually, I have a lot of words but I’ll keep them to myself. I had only read one other B.B. Reid book before starting this series so I wasn’t totally sure how she writes characters and stories over multiple books but so far, I have loved her writing style. She manages to wrap up things but you know there is more to come. So you’re satisfied but still wanting… Sort of how Keiran would leave Lake… That was totally not where I was going with that when I started my thought but if the shoe fits… lace it up and wear it B.B. This hero is every girl who has ever dated the bad guy with the hopes of changing him. Now, this story goes way deeper and gets way more f*cked than I hope the average bad boy story but at it’s bones.. this, is that. This is not a healthy relationship… at all. But I don’t need trigger warnings and I don’t think every romance ever written or lived is the epitome of health and happiness. Life is messy and love can be tricky… but I want a little left of center with my romance. I’m a grown up and I can tell the different between unhealthy situations for fictitious characters and real life. Give me all the drama, angst, steam, friendships… I cannot wait to read more! I will be book 3- Fear Us for Thanksgiving! For real, if you haven’t gotten to this series yet then you need to get your life together and fix you mistakes.
Damn!!! I am so conflicted over this series. I was expecting something totally different from this book and I have to say I was a little disappointed.
Fear Me was so good and let me so conflicted over Kieran and Lake’s relationship. I was so addicted to their twisted love story and head games. Fear You was all about the head games, but not in a good way. I was over Lake’s determination for revenge and wanting Kieran to go to jail while at the same time wanting him, loving, him, and being scared what would happen to him after she tried to put him behind bars forever. I usually like the heroine fighting back, but there was no purpose to it in this book. Lake just looked dumb. Willow and Shelton’s presence was nonexistent until they were needed as verbal punching bags for Lake being a hypocrite about her relationship with Kieran. I’m just so over these characters. I still loved Kieran though. I think a lot of the plot was extra for no reason.
Another twisted, addictive read. I’m so obsessed with this series. Literally CANNOT put them down!
Talk about tangled up! Wow, this book, nothing is as it seems, and for Kieran it seems the wind has done gotten knocked out of his sails. Lake grows a spin in this book, and it’s amazing to witness. Still just as dark as the first book, it doesn’t let up, it grabs you by the throat and shakes you. There is some serious action, there is moments that make you gasp, and then there is frustration, I kinda wanted to smack the mess out of Lake, she was stubborn, and a little but stupid, however, I still loved her.LOL
Fear Us is the second book in the Broken Love series. This was the continuation of Keiran and Lake’s story. I continued to love Keiran in this book. We learned so much more about what made him the person he is today and we got alot of history in this story which tied up alot of unanswered questions and brought everything full circle. I will admit Lake annoyed me with her back and forth hate/not hate of Keiran. However in spite of this I still enjoyed the story.
The narrators of this novel did a good job with the story. This was a good read and a good continuation to the series.
I find out about Bebe’s “Fear me” series when they all was released, thanks to that I coudl read them one by one. I LOVE them so much.
I don’t like when story doesn’t end in one book, but Fear You was an VERY BIG exception…. I read this story breathless, impatiently wanted to know what happen next. Bebe is master when it comes to building drama… oh yes, please believe me. Even if I read if for the first time long ago, it was the first story, in 2 book that I read without thinking : why this author write 2 books, when this story can be told in one…
With Fear You the problem.was opposite – I didin’t wanted this book to end.
When I saw that we get Keiran’s POV, I was super excited. I wanted to know what the french toast was going on in his noodle. I loved all of his parts. Now Lake, ugh. I wanted to shake the stupid outta her! I did not Lake in this one. Fool girl got on my last nerve, multiple times. But once again, I’m all sucked in to all the drama and craziness of it all. I can’t help it, I can’t seem shake these characters. They’re sucking me in I tell ya!
And the Saga continues
That cliffy nearly killed me and the wait was excruciating till I got my hands on this bad boy. The struggle between Lake and Keiran, Keiran and his past, Lake and Keiran’s past just kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time. It was truly heartbreaking on all the things that Keiran as a child went through. And the reason for his love-hate with Lake really gutted me. And the secondary characters and plot lines made this into a wholesome book anyone would be totally invested in.
I would totally recommend this one for its dark, gritty, in-you-faceness that keeps me coming back to this author for more and more.
