OVER 2 MILLION COPIES SOLD RUNAWAY #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER SENSATIONAL #1 INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER “Explosive.”–The Washington Post “Devastating.”–The New Yorker “Unprecedented.”–CNN “Great reporting…astute.”–Hugh Hewitt THE INSIDE STORY ON PRESIDENT TRUMP, AS ONLY BOB WOODWARD CAN TELL IT With authoritative reporting honed through nine presidencies, author Bob Woodward reveals … PRESIDENT TRUMP, AS ONLY BOB WOODWARD CAN TELL IT
With authoritative reporting honed through nine presidencies, author Bob Woodward reveals in unprecedented detail the harrowing life inside President Donald Trump’s White House and precisely how he makes decisions on major foreign and domestic policies.
Fear is the most intimate portrait of a sitting president ever published during the president’s first years in office. The focus is on the explosive debates and the decision-making in the Oval Office, the Situation Room, Air Force One and the White House residence.
Woodward draws from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand sources, meeting notes, personal diaries, files and documents. Often with day-by-day details, dialogue and documentation, Fear tracks key foreign issues from North Korea, Afghanistan, Iran, the Middle East, NATO, China and Russia. It reports in-depth on Trump’s key domestic issues particularly trade and tariff disputes, immigration, tax legislation, the Paris Climate Accord and the racial violence in Charlottesville in 2017.
Fear presents vivid details of the negotiations between Trump’s attorneys and Robert Mueller, the special counsel in the Russia investigation, laying out for the first time the meeting-by-meeting discussions and strategies. It discloses how senior Trump White House officials joined together to steal draft orders from the president’s Oval Office desk so he would not issue directives that would jeopardize top secret intelligence operations.
“It was no less than an administrative coup d’état,” Woodward writes, “a nervous breakdown of the executive power of the most powerful country in the world.”

Not worth the money, just a repeat of what was already in daily news.
I enjoyed reading this book by Bob Woodward about what really was going on in the white house with Donald Trump as president, a job he never should have gotten. Every voter should have read Trump’s book, The Art Of The Deal, before the election and maybe they would have realized what a con man he really was.
Amazingly fair. Helps you see how the president thinks, which he does.
I lost interest and did not finish the book. What I read seemed very slanted and I was disappointed because I had though Woodward would be unbiased.
I found it very interesting. It shows very much how Trump’s mind works and how he views things.
Whether you are a Democrat or Republican I think you’ll enjoy this book. A peak behind the scenes of this Administration. What has gone into decisions made etc.
I listened to this on audiobook and within the first half hour I can’t believe how many times I said, “What an idiot!” This same description of Trump (including “moron” and “deranged”) is given by more than one person who has tried to work with him.
If you’re okay with getting a better understanding that this country in the hands of a spoiled and vindictive 10-year old and just how stubbornly ignorant he can be, give this a read. If you find that too scary, read something less frightening like Stephen King’s The Shining. The final quote of Fear (by his own lawyer) sums up the book nicely, “[Trump’s] a f**king liar.”
This story is simply devastating on all counts. Woodward is unsurpassed as a journalist who is able to get the whole searing account “on the record,” and he has done so here. He unfolds the first year-and-a-half of the Trump White House with endless quotes, conversations inside the Oval Office, the desperate machinations of good people who don’t know how to rescue the nation from what is clearly spiraling out of control.
No matter what your political or spiritual views, it’s impossible to feel anything but grief and anxiety over the reality that the government has some amoral forces at the helm. It’s honestly frightening when the most admirable guy in the tale is Rob Porter, who bravely tried to keep a lid on the mess . . . and then had to resign because there was incontrovertible evidence he was involved in domestic abuse. Yikes.
Thank God we have a few good men at the helm I admire your courage and determination to keep us safe and democracy alive perhaps in two years we will have a leader who adheres to the better angels of our nature
It was the kind of writing journalists do, plain good writing. Still fucking terrified.
Historical but not very interesting
Fear. This book is aptly titled. Fear is exactly the emotion you should feel after learning what is going on in OUR White House. I highly recommend this book. There are always SO many things we are not made privy to in the political world that surrounds us. This book is a perfect example of the insanity, confusion
and underhanded thinking(s) and doings in our government today. How people are getting away with it, how and why. Oh yes, be afraid, feel fear and try to figure out what we can do about it before we lose control of our beloved country altogether. The nuts are running our asylum Believe it.
His usual through job with extremely interesting detail of the workings of this unusual White House
This was a great book and makes you wonder how any one can be president–with all that is going on at once.
I was disappointed because I expected it to be so much more. I was worth reading but after all of the TV interviews most everything you find out you already now know. It was a sad view of the White House and our current president.
Everything in this book is terrifying.
Interesting.
Read this book at your own peril because it will depress you even more. Woodward is a great narrator who used his sources’ voice in a great way. It’s obvious who spoke to Woodward, and those people are also disturbing in their beliefs and why they support this presidency.
Abandon all hope here is huge here, especially when you read the section on how close we came to war to North Korea, including how clueless everyone in the White House.
This is an eye-opener! Learn about what’s happening in the White House (or what recently happened) and maybe become enlightened.
I had to stop after a few chapters I got really upset remembering all the Donald has done and continues to do. I really like Bob Woodward and think he is thorough and bright. The reader will have to ask themselves if they want to relive the beginning of this administration.
