With authoritative reporting honed through nine presidencies, author Bob Woodward reveals in unprecedented detail the harrowing life inside President Donald Trump’s White House and precisely how he makes decisions on major foreign and domestic policies.
Fear is the most intimate portrait of a sitting president ever published during the president’s first years in office. The focus is on the explosive debates and the decision-making in the Oval Office, the Situation Room, Air Force One and the White House residence.
Woodward draws from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand sources, meeting notes, personal diaries, files and documents. Often with day-by-day details, dialogue and documentation, Fear tracks key foreign issues from North Korea, Afghanistan, Iran, the Middle East, NATO, China and Russia. It reports in-depth on Trump’s key domestic issues particularly trade and tariff disputes, immigration, tax legislation, the Paris Climate Accord and the racial violence in Charlottesville in 2017.
Fear presents vivid details of the negotiations between Trump’s attorneys and Robert Mueller, the special counsel in the Russia investigation, laying out for the first time the meeting-by-meeting discussions and strategies. It discloses how senior Trump White House officials joined together to steal draft orders from the president’s Oval Office desk so he would not issue directives that would jeopardize top secret intelligence operations.
“It was no less than an administrative coup d’état,” Woodward writes, “a nervous breakdown of the executive power of the most powerful country in the world.”

Horrible
Every one in life have something to contribute on earth it doesn’t matters the taxes a head, will should remove the mindset of fear from us and face life
reality.
It’s as bad as we thought. The levels of ignorance and childishness are appalling. The writing of the book was just OK. Didn’t add that much to what we already know, if you read the papers and the news magazines. Very chronologically linear and doesn’t hold the interest of a “history” book because we’re still living it. Nevertheless, it needed to be written for future generations.
scary about the future, because the support the president is getting .
A candid look at POTUS, worrisome
I’m glad there is a journalist with such a high degree of integrity that was willing to document and share the truth in this tell all of the chaotic fiasco that is the trump white house. The lying, sloth, idiocy, dishonesty, and ignorance of the president himself disgusts me. a real eye opener.
The author needed to edit his work.
ll the stuff was on the TV interviews, nothing was learned in the book
Based on those that wish to remain anonymous with no further proof. Not the Bob Woodward I remember.
Fear: Trump in the White House may have been entirely factual and eye opening for many people, but for me, I could barely keep my eyes open. Maybe I’ve been reading too many hysterical rants on social media, or maybe I have heard too much overall. But reading a patient and non-volatile description of what’s been going on in the White House isn’t enough to rile me up anymore. There, I said it.
That is such a sad thing to admit, that all these awful decisions and horrible intentions are no big whoop. It’s so awful, I can’t even anymore. I. Can’t. Even.
And maybe that’s exactly what they want.
Believable
Written in typical Woodward fashion, this is an interesting take on the current administration.
As you read it the sources of the information become clearer and reliable.
Very difficult read, but incredibly enlightening. I had no idea what was going on in the White House. Very concerned now that I’ve read his book.
Terrifying insight into the Trump administration.
Scary to think this stuff is actually happening in our White House
“From Boxing Ring to Battlefield: The Life of War Hero Lew Jenkins,” author.
An insight into President Trump.
Too much like the daily news reports.
Certainly not riveting reading but informative and easy to read.
