OVER 2 MILLION COPIES SOLD RUNAWAY #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER SENSATIONAL #1 INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER “Explosive.”–The Washington Post “Devastating.”–The New Yorker “Unprecedented.”–CNN “Great reporting…astute.”–Hugh Hewitt THE INSIDE STORY ON PRESIDENT TRUMP, AS ONLY BOB WOODWARD CAN TELL IT With authoritative reporting honed through nine presidencies, author Bob Woodward reveals … PRESIDENT TRUMP, AS ONLY BOB WOODWARD CAN TELL IT
With authoritative reporting honed through nine presidencies, author Bob Woodward reveals in unprecedented detail the harrowing life inside President Donald Trump’s White House and precisely how he makes decisions on major foreign and domestic policies.
Fear is the most intimate portrait of a sitting president ever published during the president’s first years in office. The focus is on the explosive debates and the decision-making in the Oval Office, the Situation Room, Air Force One and the White House residence.
Woodward draws from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand sources, meeting notes, personal diaries, files and documents. Often with day-by-day details, dialogue and documentation, Fear tracks key foreign issues from North Korea, Afghanistan, Iran, the Middle East, NATO, China and Russia. It reports in-depth on Trump’s key domestic issues particularly trade and tariff disputes, immigration, tax legislation, the Paris Climate Accord and the racial violence in Charlottesville in 2017.
Fear presents vivid details of the negotiations between Trump’s attorneys and Robert Mueller, the special counsel in the Russia investigation, laying out for the first time the meeting-by-meeting discussions and strategies. It discloses how senior Trump White House officials joined together to steal draft orders from the president’s Oval Office desk so he would not issue directives that would jeopardize top secret intelligence operations.
“It was no less than an administrative coup d’état,” Woodward writes, “a nervous breakdown of the executive power of the most powerful country in the world.”

It is what every citizen should know about our government & who & how it is operated.
A troubling yet unmistakably well-investigated piece of literature.
Very well named book at this historical time. Scared the hell out of me. And this is based on Trump’s close associates!
I want my money back!! So very poorly written. You never know who is speaking, it shifts from scene to scene jarringly. I feel screwed…greatly!
Makes one think about what is actually going on in the White House.
I’ve read most of Woodward’s books. He’s thorough and very readable. This is a great chronicle of an important story of today’s political scene.
Just okay. I kept thinking that Woodward needed Bernstein.
It’s well-researched and detailed, but often dry and methodical. The structure is haphazard. I actually didn’t know I had finished as it ended abruptly.
Be advised that the book actually ends around 60% of the whole. 40% is comprised of the index, acknowledgements and detailed chapter-by-chapter source notes.
This will not tell you anything brand new; it’s what’s already out there, however, it will bring you closer to actually feeling like your there, rather than watching from afar. It tells it like it is & if you are a denier, well, that’s just who you are & nothing will educate you anyway to the reality of where we are or where we could end up. The book is sad & scary; let’s just hope it isn’t our epitaph.
Whether true or not this book is an eye opener to think about who is governing our land and why we should pay attention. Most importantly we should participate in the process of picking our legislators by voting, and if possible getting involved in local, state, and national campaigns. Also, we should most definitely keep abreast of what bills legislators are working on locally, state-wide and nationally because any bills passed will have an effect on our everyday lives, as well as the future generations.
Bob Woodward does it again! I couldn’t put the book down!!!
We didn’t exactly break new ground here – if you’ve read Wolff’s Fire and Fury, kept up with the news, etc., you likely already know most of what’s in this book. But what’s really important here, I think, is that it’s Bob Woodward writing it and putting his reputation behind this. For that reason alone this book holds more water than most of the others that have come out in the past year and a half. As expected, it’s terrifying. Now if only we could get his base to read it.
Excellent! What a treat.
the old man and the red face
Thought it would be like a textbook. It came alive on the pages. Could feel the frustration and the chaos the staff had to put up with. Very glad I read this book. Hope everybody does.
Descriptive and brings understanding to the world in which we are living, at every twist and turn, the hands of a degenerate want-to-be dictator is revealed. Impeach!
“Lord of the Flies” at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. (Would that this one were fiction as well.)
A must & honest read by one of our greatest fair & balanced journalists.
Highly recommend!
We need to be informed re our vulnerability. Author’s detail is impressive. Vote in nov.
There really wasn’t anything new in this book that I hadn’t already seen in the news. Not sure why all the fuss. The only difference all the facts are compiled in one place. If you haven’t been paying attention, this may inform you.
I had been expecting some astounding revelations due to the hype, but was surprised by the lack of new material.
This book, in spite of much of many rumors, is not all anonymous. There are quotes by many former, and soon to be former, members on Trump’s inner circle, members of the administration such as General McMasters. When you read something “anonymous” keep in mind that to reputable reporters the speaker is not anonymous . The person is known to Bob Woodward. He has them on taped interviews, with documents when necessary, to back up what he writes about. For those of us old enough to have been around during the Watergate mess, many of us will appreciate Woodward’s well researched, in depth, honest reporting. What I read not only confirmed my belief of Donald Trump is totally unfit to hold the most powerful office in the world, but put me on my knees, praying that this country does not face any REAL crisis, especially an international one, while he is in office.
I very highly recommend this book although I believe that many did hard Trump supporters will STILL remain in denial even if they read this book. I don’t know what it will take to make them see the true unfitness of this vile con man.
