I read Fear Has a Name years ago when it first released. I rediscovered it on Libby, the audiobook lending library, and just finished listening to this haunting story over the past few days. It truly had me on the edge of my seat from the first scene to the last. Creston Mapes is such a gifted storyteller, and he sure knows how to ratchet up the suspense! Brilliant!
This was a very good read, very realistic and yet action-packed. I recommend this book for anyone struggling to understand forgiveness.
Fear Has a Name is a fast-paced, heart-pounding story of suspense with real characters who struggle with their faith and how to live it out. Love the way the author wrapped up two story threads!
My stomach is still in a knot! Brilliantly written! I literally couldn’t put this masterpiece down until it was finished. I got sucked into the story from the first page and easily became one with each of the characters. I even caught myself rooting for the bad guy! This was my first book by Creston Mapes and he’s now become one of my favorite authors. Off to book two!
Starting on page 1, I was wrapped up in this book. I think I read the whole thing in about 2 days, hardly putting it down.
I had never read a “scary” Christian book before, but it was very well written and didn’t get wonky with the theology like a lot of “Christian” books do. There was an underlying Christian theme without getting extremely preachy about it, and it worked very well.
Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down!!!!! Unbelievable plot twists and turns–I couldn’t wait to read the next chapter/ Good Thriller!!!!!!!!!!
Loved it! Couldn’t figure what would happen–kept me guessing. I’d really like to read more from Creston Maples—as soon as my heart settles back down!
This story grabbed me from the first sentence! Who was the man outside? What did he want? I was hooked. This book is an outstanding, complex mystery. I can’t think of enough adjectives to describe it. There were so many twists and turns in the story that I was fascinated. Definitely a page turner.
If you are not a person of faith, but you are looking to grow or understand such a life, you will learn about walking with God. The main characters struggle with their beliefs in an honest way. That element of the story does not take away from the on-going tension and suspense. Enjoy!
I was surprised at how good a thriller this book was.
This was the first of a 3 book series that follows Creston and his wife over a several year period. At the time of this review I have finished the series and other than a couple small things I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books. I’ve now read 6 books by this author and recommend every one of them!
One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I love that God is through all the different circumstances and how the characters lives are intertwined. Definitely a page turner.
It was awesome to read a thriller novel that didn’t include foul language and that had a message of grace. Well written, suspenseful story that made you love the victim and both hate and feel sorry for the perpetrator. I will read it again!
I like all his books
This book forced one to stay focused as it went from one scene to another. The author cleverly brought it altogether in the end. It was very realistic even as it was spiritual. A great blending of tragic personal development and christian life and morals. A job well done!
A good read
I’ve never read a book by this author but I really enjoyed it. I hope to read more books by him
Good story line. Didn’t appreciate some of the language. Inappropriate for a Christian book.
This book caused me to seriously question how I would react if something like that happened to me.
this is the second book I have read by this author and I love his style of introducing the spiritual side of the devil and his group. Great job!
This one of the best books I have read in a while. The primary characters are complex and well developed. There are twists and turns of the plot and masterful interweaving of several story lines. The characters are challenged in life and in their faith as was while I read. The book ends well. Some novels just stop suddenly leaving you disatisfied. However everyone does not live happily everafter, but most live better.
