This is my first time I’ve read anything by this talented author and it won’t be the last I can assure you.
This was a thriller that made you think and search for clues, and it kept this reader glued to her Kindle.
Painter, Liddy has recently had an accident which has a devastating affect on her life. She’s looking for an apartment in New York and this is where the plot becomes sinister. I’m not one for spoilers, you’ll have to read a copy to see what I mean.
Enter Detective Kerri Blasco and her partner whose task it is to unravel this mystery/paranormal story.
Great characters, dialogue and the writing flowed wonderfully.
Fabulous read which I highly recommend.
What a rollercoaster of a read! This story grabs you from the first page and does not disappoint. Liddy Barron who has had a horrific accident and suffers from nightmares about it but cannot remember many of the facts that caused or led up to it. Liddy is an artist and draws a sketch of a missing woman she claims to have seen on the street near her home and begins to see the woman in nightmarish images. She starts to wonder if it’s real or her imagination. The amnesia is brutal on her memory and recall. Her husband tries to help her but insists it’s her imagination. Liddy goes to a police station with her sketch after seeing the woman’s disappearance reported on the news. The police detective gives her the benefit of the doubt and listens to her as unpopular as that option is.
As Liddy remembers more and more, the reader is drawn into the numerous possibilities as to what did or did not occur. Ms. Schneider does a fantastic job at building tension and suspense all the while presenting different scenarios as to who the killer might be. It’s a twist I didn’t see coming and enjoyed every page of this story.
This is truly a great psychological thriller from first page to last. Was a murder committed, and if so who did it? Sounds ordinary right? No, it definitely is not ordinary at all! You won’t be disappointed!
Wonderful psychological thriller with a great ending twist.
Terrific read! Very compelling, page turner set in Soho, keeps one guessing and leaves one satisfied! Loved it!
Fear Dreams is a intreguing mystery that hooks the reader in from the first sentence until the very differant surprising ending.
Liddy Barron a talented artist has recently been released from hospital after a hit and run accident in which she sustained damaged ribs,a broken leg and memory loss due to concussion. She is in a cafe with her best friend Beth when Liddy draws a sketch of a young girl that she insists has just walked past the cafe. When she shows the sketch to Beth her friend is sure that she recognizes the girl.It turns out that the sketch bears a striking resemblance to Sasha Perry a coed who has been missing since the time of Liddys accident. After Liddy starts having visions and the nightmares that she has been having worsen she decides to ignore her husband Paul who insists that she is being paranoid and needs to see her psychiatrist more often and begins an obsessive quest to find out what happened to Sasha.
Detective Kerri Blisco is also obsessed with finding out what has happened to Sasha. The case has just been closed because there has been no new leads recently and Sasha has been labelled as a run away but Kerri is determined that no matter how exhausted she feels she is going to solve the mystery.
I really liked Kerri, she was very understanding and willing to listen to Liddy and not just dismiss her claims are nonsense or just plain crazy. She and her team worked well together and she was treated with respect by other colleagues.
As someone who suffers from paranoia and major anxiety issues myself I must say that J A Schneider is spot on with her descriptions of how debilitating these conditions can be.The up and down mood swings, total lack of trust in everyone and feelings of being totally lost and disconnected from reality can be very frightening and upsetting and I fully understood and sympathized with how Liddy was feeling throughout the story.
It’s a well written gripping mystery,no parts felt like they were added to pad out the story and I really enjoyed reading it.It looks like this may be the first in a series of Kerri Blisco thrillers and I look forward to reading more of her adventures in the future.
Just under five stars!
The author does a superb job of setting up a wonderful young married artist dealing with a scary accident. I cared about Liddy the minute I met her, injured in a hit and run, suffering memory loss and still healing. Her hubby Paul seems just like you expect a science nerd, quiet, introverted, and trying his best to help his wife heal. There’s Beth, real estate agent and best friend. Paul’s science partner Carl and his buddy Ben.
The trouble is Liddy sees images and isn’t sure if they’re real or not. Paul and Beth find a new home for Liddy and it has a room for her art projects. But even here, Liddy sees things and even draws pictures of a girl she keeps glimpsing in her dreams.
Tension builds as Liddy meets Kari a detective still investigating the missing coed Sasha…she matches the images Liddy draws. And Liddy will not give up on Sasha, even when her hubby becomes upset by her obsession. And Kari feels Liddy is a key to solving Sasha’s disappearance.
Who do you trust, your memories that are a bit fuzzy, your best friend, your husband’s overbearing friends or a cop looking for answers?
Totally believable and a solid mystery with excellent plotting and excellent clues! Love a mystery that slowly pulls you in…
True thriller
Interesting twist at the end
Great mystery.
This book grabbed your attention from almost the beginning. Highly recommend it.
Surprise ending!
Could not put it down!
I read it till 3 am.
Stayed up most of the night reading this book.
Enjoyed this story. I had to finish reading it before I could put it down. Then I went on to read her next book which I already read awhile ago and enjoyed reading it again.
This story was ok. It reminded me of What Lies Beneath.
The sentence structure was very distracting. At first I thought that the Kindle conversion was faulty. As I continued reading I realized that the author was intentionally writing this way. This book has a good rating so it might just be me that didn’t like the writing style.
I love domestic thrillers and this one had an unusual, supernatural twist. Fast-paced and with a likeable protagonist, I read this quickly. Throughout the book, I enjoyed the NYC descriptions and urban setting.
Highly recommend!
I enjoyed reading it.
I loved this book and look forward to reading more of her books!
