This is for the audiobook version.
Our story starts off happy and then in an instant it comes to a halt and our emotions make a one-eighty. It shows how uncertain life can be. It also shows that sometimes things happen for a reason. Then there are those things that are kept secret or just something we don’t want to admit to.
If you’re trying to make a connection with Jovi, Ms. Puckett will help you with that. She was a pleasure to listen to. And for a time or two, I happened to have a talk with Jovi and River – good thing my neighbors weren’t around at the time. Then there were the times where she gave me a good chuckle. I don’t know that my reaction would have been the same if i was the one doing the reading.
One thing this story did was get me to think. Why wait for personal pain to hit before acting on a bucket list. It’s a way of pushing boundaries that we may not normally cross. It’s also a way of making new friends and just maybe someone who ends up more than that. It’s also a way of seeing places that, I’m sorry to say, that if it weren’t for that list we may never visit. In listening to this story I learned that maybe it’s better to do a list like this sooner than later.
What I appreciated from this author was she could have let the sadness and hurt overtake River and Jovi’s story. But she knew when to pull back and when we needed to have some of it let out. If it weren’t for that, I don’t think that River and Jovi would have had a story or the ending they deserved. But knowing in which way Jovi’s story was going I don’t really think you could call it an ending since her life seemed to be just beginning. If you’ve not read this author before this is certainly a good beginning into what her writing style is like. This may be her first audiobook but that won’t stop me from checking out her other work.
I voluntarily reviewed an Audiobook copy of this book.
Since KB Andrews is a new author to me, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book. I’m glad that I went into it with no expectations because I was able to get fully into the story and to really enjoy it without waiting for something in particular to happen.
Jovi and Katie are best friends and have been for years. On the eve of Katie’s big trip, she writes out a bucket list for Jovi to follow, since Jovi won’t go with her to Miami. As Katie’s leaving for her trip, her plane goes down, leaving Jovi alone. Jovi starts to follow her bucket list and meets River.
I love the way that the relationship between Jovi and River developed. It was interesting. It was both fast and slow, which is totally possible. It made both of the characters better people, which is what any relationship is supposed to do, right? I loved going for the ride with them and learning more about Jovi and River as the characters did. We really didn’t know a lot about either of them, despite living in Jovi’s head, before they reveal it in a natural way. We never really see River’s POV, except for once. But, it works out well. I don’t think this would’ve worked as well if it were a book with a split POV. I would be willing to read more about these characters.
And, as a final note, as a person who came of age in the 80s, I love Jovi’s name. Bon Jovi was a favored band for years, so that’s pretty awesome.
K.B. Andrews does it again with another read that left me in tears with my nose stuffed up and tissues scattered around me as I read this book. This book had me from the first pages right to the end, a story of a young woman, Jovi, who loses her best friend tragically right after she makes a bucket list for her. Jovi is shy and introverted, doesn’t go out and keeps to herself so her BFF makes a list she has to complete over the summer while they are apart. After she loses her BFF, Jovi decides to complete the list and live for her, doing things she never did, feeling free and alive for once and she takes River, a man she meets at the funeral and keeps bumping into after, along for the ride across the country while completing the list.
What a read that had me crying and sniffling throughout the book but also smiling and laughing so hard at times my side hurt. I loved reading how Jovi blossoms and comes out of her shell and how River helps her through it all. Not only that but the steamy scenes…oh my my my. The author wrote a story that was flawless, that flowed perfectly and had all kinds of emotions jumping off the pages that I couldn’t help but feel each one and feel for both characters. Not only that but the ending when Jovi finds out the truth….loved it and what happened was exactly what I hoped for as it ended perfectly. Time to go out and buy more tissues and add these two to my top 10 of favorite couples.

A definite must read.
Wow this book was a absolutely mind blowing book. It took on a sad journey of a woman’s self-discovery. We see so many things happen to her and that she has to try to deal with that I literally cried through this whole book. I see pieces of my life in this story that now I feel I need to to the same thing that Katie did for Jovie. If I had to say one thing about this book….Please read it. This gets 5+ stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
Grab the tissues and strap on your seat belt for this roller coaster ride of emotions! What an amazing book this was! I don’t think I’ve ever cried and laughed so much while reading one story!
Jovi is shy, her best friend Katie is a free spirit. Complete opposites but closer than any two sisters since they were little girls. Jovi is dreading her summer, anticipating being lonely and bored, since Katie is going to Miami Beach for the summer. Katie begs Jovi to go, but she can’t afford it. Before she leaves, Katie makes Jovi a bucket list, with instructions to come out of her shell and live life, and to have that list completed by the time she comes back from vacation. Neither one could have imagined what would happen after that.
I don’t even know where to begin.. You will laugh, you will cry, you will try to climb inside your Kindle to hug Jovi. The story is so well written, so powerful and emotional, you can’t help but feel like you are sitting right there, feeling what the characters are feeling, experiencing what they are experiencing… it’s sad and so funny and heartwarming and so much more and just one of the best stories you will read this year!
Loved this story. It is sad sweet and fills an ache inside and don’t forget heartwarming. The characters were wonderful. I just didn’t feel* the heartbreak of losing the best friend. Maybe I got too caught up in what came after. I did listen to this on audio and Sarah Puckett did a wonderful job.
Losing her best and only friend has a devastating effect on Jovie’s life. Armed with a bucket list created by her best friend, Jovie embarks on a journey of self discovery.
She had no idea she would have company on the road trip of grief. Together thwy check off items on her list while falling hard and fast.
I found F*cking Shattered was a sweet and sometimes very entertaining read/listen. Some of the items on the bucket list seem like an off the wall shot but rest assured they conquer them. Raise your flask to teuth or dare and try not to eat too many baked goods.
Sweet, fun, and romantic, F*cking Shattered will make you smile.

Josies best friend,Katie, is on her way for a 3 month vacation in Miami. Her plane crashed. Before her trip, she gave Josie a list of things to do before the end of the summer. This was a list to get her out if her comfort zone. First one was to kiss a stranger. Her kiss was with a stranger at Katie ‘s home after the funeral. Josie decides to take Katie’s trip and drive to Miami. River, the stranger, insists to go along to help her check off the items on her list. This story has many laugh out loud moments as they drive across the US. It’s a story of self discovery for both. Finding love and friendship.
Sarah Puckett is a wonderful narrator and portraying all the emotions, love, angst and feelings of despair of each and every Character. I really enjoyed listening to this story.

**4.5 Stars**
This was my first book by this author and I went in blind and was really impressed. I was instantly hooked with the premise of the story line, despite the sadness at the beginning of the book. I love that Jovi used her sadness and hurt to honor Katie by taking her trip and following through with the bucket list Katie had made for her. I absolutely loved the relationship Jovi and River had with each other. I loved their back and forth banter and that they challenged each other and brought out the best in each other and built each other up. And they had some pretty aweosme chemistry on top of all that too!!! There were some pretty funny secenes throughout the book as Jovi worked her way through her bucket list, and got back at River for some of the pranks he pulled **ahem** the beach at the retirement community and the special brownies. I really enjoyed the author’s writing style and look forward to reading more of her work.
I have heard of K.B. Andrews before, and I follow her all over social media!! LOL!
I won this ARC one of the groups I’m in on Facebook. I had put it off, and put it off (don’t ask me why as I literally don’t know, and I’m kicking myself I didn’t read it sooner!), and I was like it’s FINALLY time to read this book!
Oh boy, I was not disappointed!
I loved the story of Jovi and River and how they met!! Let me tell you, this book is emotional!!! I went on one hell of a ride with this one! I cried when Jovi cried, I laughed when Jovi laughed. I felt every emotion she felt!
When Jovi loses her best friend, she goes on an adventure to fulfil her besties trip, and while at the wake she meets River.
Who is he? How does he know Katie? Why is he here at the wake? All the questions I could imagine going through Jovi’s mind. Where did River come from?
Jovi and River set out on an adventure, Jovi has a bucket list that Katie wrote her before she left on her trip. River is helping her complete this list.
Many things happen along the way, and it really opened Jovi up, opened her eyes to the world that is around her.
There’s a twist!!! Of course there is, and I kinda thought it sometime into the book, and it turned out what I thought but SO MUCH MORE!
Then when she finds out River’s secret, can she move past it and forgive him? Can Jovi let go of her best friend?
Also the sexy scenes, oh wow!!! So good! Yes, it was a lot in the book but it wasn’t overkill. The attraction they have for another is undeniable and you can feel it pouring off the pages of the book!!
I loved that even though this was a semi sad book, it still had the laughs to go along with it.
Some of my fave quotes from the book
Jovi talking about her bestie Katie: Not only is she all of those things, she’s also rich. I mean, slap your grandma rich. ROFL!! I died laughing at that one!
When Katie goes to leave, Jovie yells out “Have fun, and don’t catch any diseases!” Seriously I was laughing so hard!
When Jovi FINALLY quits her job. “Yeah….THat’s not going to happen. See ya!” I was so happy when she finally quit! Just like Katie told her to do.
When Jovi discovers what River is hiding under his clothes. God, how did I not know he was hiding all that? ROFL!
Jovi putting the tent up: I’ve never put together a tent before. If something says pop up, it should fucking pop up! I was on the bus reading this, and was laughing so hard out loud at that one!
Then the line that got me: “I’ve been broken for a long time, princess. I fucking shattered when I met you.” *Cue swooning*
What an amazing story of two broken people brought together by grief. The journey taken to fulfill a bucket list that was created by a cherished lost loved one.
This fantastically written, coming of age, slow burn was kismet from the start. Sarah Puckett you did an amazing job on Jovies and Rivers quest.
Audiobook version:
I can’t say enough good things about this book. It was a fantastic read! Great characters, unique story, amazing journey. This story took me through so many emotions. I cried, I laughed, I swooned. I loved the story and everything about it.
Sarah did a wonderful job on the narration. She truly bought these characters to life in the best way. I enjoyed the audio very much~
I read this a while ago and now after coming back to write my post, I realize the chills I get. The title pretty much sums up the entire story. It will shatter you. This coming of age, YA story captures life and it’s essence perfectly. I don’t know if I’ve read a more moving story about life and what happens when those close leave us all too soon.
While I didn’t cry, I was shocked speechless, in a good way, with the impact this story has. I just recommended it and would even have my son, when older, pick it up. Life Lesson from this story: fight for your happiness, never settle, and give love freely it’s infinite.
Katie is the best friend everyone wants to have. She supports and loves Jovie. She also brings out the best in her. I felt like Katie had this epic plan. While I didn’t cry, there were some teary-eyed moments, the shoe box memories….yeah, that go me.
Jovie suffers a tragedy that alters her life forever. She suffers from depression and heartbreak. The new reality she is living in shows her a new lease on life. I don’t know if I can put into words how much I loved this story and Jovie. The author captured the feelings and healing beautifully. Jovie is one my all-time favorite young adult characters.
River just walked in a whole mess of greatness. This young man is unique, strong, vulnerable, and loveable. How he and Jovie heal each other, is beautiful to read about. he overcame a lot and his bond with Katie made it a beautiful story. While shattering my heart for him, I also fell in love with all the author did.
This story also has a strong family bond. It was great to see. I can’t put into words how fabulous this story was. it is very well written and the plot flowed. I kept turning the pages as quickly as I could. This story covered so many emotions. You could feel the happiness, heartbreak, sadness, and joy. The secrets that were revealed were exciting to watch as they unfolded. This story also had the humor to go with the tragedy. K.B. wove it like a finely crafted dance. No stone was left to be discovered. Like every great performance, the only thing you wanted at the end was another curtain call.
Their road trip to the rest of their life both Jovie and River brought out the best in each other. They fought to overcome insurmountable grief to find joy in life once more.
I highly recommend this story. It had everything I want in a story. This blogger gives it 5 Pointe Shoes and a curtain call. MUST READ!!
This book is aptly named. K.B. Andrews has written something that will stick with you and make you want to read more. Not only will you go through the multitude of emotions with her characters, but she will have you rolling on the floor laughing. This book was unexpectedly hilarious! I laughed so hard I had tears streaming and I sounded like a duck with my snorting! It immediately made me want to share it with someone else. I read it all in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. You are going to love this book! 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!
f*ucking SHATTERED hooked me in with the synopsis & tore my heart & soul into baby pieces. An astonishing tear jerker novel with adept characters and unparagoned narrative. This novel takes you on a prodigious journey that will have you crying, laughing and swooning.
I love this narrator Sarah Puckett as she has a smooth, light, a and sweet voice. She is the perfect person to narrate this harrowing tale. This narrator brings this narrative & its character’s to real life. Always a pleasure to listen to audiobooks that she is narrating. A beautiful story showcased flawlessly. I absolutely love this audiobook.
When Jovi loses her best friend, she’s shattered and doesn’t know how to keep going on, but then she remembers the bucket list she had to complete for her over the summer and decided to live her life for both of them, starting with kissing a stranger after the funeral.
She never expected to see him again, but she couldn’t deny the chemistry or that she wanted him, the only thing she knows is his name is River.
They slowly start to learn things about each other and River insists on going on her holiday with her from the bucket list, she wonders how she can have such intense feelings for River, when they hardly know each other. River tells her that there is an us and has been since he kissed her, she agrees it doesn’t make sense but does feel right.
Wondering if Katie somehow sent her River, she decides to write her a letter, about River and how she’s completing the list she left.
Nearly at the end of their trip, finally up to number fifty on her list – use a paper lantern to free something that’s holding you back – River lets her know that it’s time to let go of Katie, he’s going to let go of anger and resentment.
Jovi learns that she’s not the same person as she was when she started with the help of Katie’s list and she knows that her friend knew exactly what she was doing writing the list, including the one she doubted the most – fall in love.
Perfect Love Story! This was my first book by KB Andrews and it won’t be the last. This story wasn’t what I had expected, it’s so much more. This is an amazing and unpredictable story. It’s heartbreaking and afterward heartwarming. I was hooked from the page to the end. I love the two main characters, Jovi and River. They are so great together. I love their first encounter. River is totally handsome, reliable, helpful, protective and lovers. I like everything in this story: the storyline, the characters, the scenery, Katie’s bucket list and the funny scenes. In fact, It’s a wonderful and perfect story and I felt grateful to be part of their journey as a spectator, for the time of this story. I love the ending and the Epilogue. The narration was really great and easy to listen. Sarah Puckett brings this story to life with emotion and tenderness. This story totally worth a credit. I really enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Good story line, I just wasn’t impressed with the writing
3.5 stars
This is my first read by this author and after I read the blurb and the title, I was expecting it to be some gut-wrenching, ugly cry read but it was not. I found F*cking Shattered to be a lighter read than I was expecting. Although there were some sad moments, I don’t think I shed a single tear, and instead found myself laughing at all the crazy antics Jovi and River were getting themselves into. This book definitely did not shatter me like I wanted or was expecting.
When Jovi’s best friend, Katie suddenly dies, she embarks on a journey to create the summer “bucket list” that she had written for her. This list is supposed to help her loosen up and live a little. The first item on the list is “kiss a stranger”, which she does, at Katie’s funeral. But when she keeps running into the sexy, mysterious stranger, she can’t help but to wonder why, and if there is a reason she has such an intense connection and attraction to River. The two embark on the road trip of a lifetime, completing the list along the way. But when River drops a major bombshell on Jovi, will she find it in her heart to forgive him?
Other than the lack of shattered emotions and ugly crying, I did enjoy reading this book. It was very well-written, with strong, relatable characters and I absolutely loved all the humor in this book that made me laugh. I did find it to be quite predictable though at times. I guessed River’s secret from almost the beginning. This story was about bringing two broken people together on a journey and helping them heal each other along the way. Overall, I liked this book and I would definitely read more from this author.
