“I wanted to know why I wasn’t enough.”
Holy shit Tarryn Fisher you F*cked with my emotions woman!!!
I am always AMAZED when authors make you flip flop on your feelings. You are set and in LOVE and then nope…..they throw a big ole’ fat wrench in the ring and you have to decide..make choices..set the book down and scream and kick and throw a grown woman temper tantrum. Then you put on your big girl panties and read on to only find that you are going to have to do that hissy fit ALL OVER AGAIN LOL. But you know what…it makes for a FANTASTIC read that will definitely stay with you forever!!!
5+++ AMAZING ‘s from me!!
Thank you Tarryn Fisher for effing with my HEART once again!! Soooo FREAKING good!!!
“Welcome to F* ck Marriage. We’re going to make it out alive. I promise.”
I’ve a very conflicted opinion about tarryn. I love her words, find myself nodding my affirmation at some, get moved to tears at some and then some make me utterly sad. Nevertheless their ability to move my soul plates and rearranging them is undoubted. Her narration has a keen sense of observation and most of the time her life has seeped in all her stories in some way of another. She’s marrow, Hanna, senna and Billie.
I’ve had one online interaction with her about a year ago and I have a sour taste in my mouth from that. Then about turn cause I follow her “Tuesdays with Tarryn”. If you really want to hear unfiltered, unadulterated voice of reason and unbiased opinion, y’all should read it. I don’t relate to any of them cause I’m a happily married middle aged housewife, yet I find her responses fascinating. Her tumultuous life has wisened her beyond her years and given her a 4th dimension kind of an outlook which normal people fail to develop
I’ve read Mud Vein and Marrow, this is my third book by her
Having never walked in Billie Tarrow’s shoes, I don’t understand her life decisions. Her petulance and brattish attitude. Her thirst for revenge and her petty “Girl Games”.
I had hard time understanding wood’s intentions and actions
How the tables have turned. Pearl stole a married man, and now I am going to make sure their marriage never happens. Woods is mine.
BUT…BUT…BUT
I opened the door and stepped in this book because I love how Taryn thinks, speaks and behaves. Her books being an extension of her personality and her smart verbosity raised my expectations and I was completely and utterly bowled over
True, there were some instances and scenes which edged on cheesy and were not as deeply thought out as some others. But that’s the beauty of writing, she attempted a lighter read and I must say- she’s succeeded. That shows her talent of diversity, her versatality.
This explains the first half of the book->
There’s a lot to be said for spiteful pettiness. It’s underrated by those moral do-gooders who jive to the beat of karma.
Somewhere down the line, her vision grows larger and Satcher Gable comes into periphery and moves towards the focal center. Paths get biforcated, goals shift, motives change course.
I reveled in profound lines, stunning emotions that surprise the characters and readers alike and thought provoking viewpoints that opened my eyes wide
“It’s become a cycle we’re unfortunately comfortable with. The longer you stay in an unhealthy relationship, the more druglike it becomes. You’re willing to deal with the side effects because they’re predictable. You can trust the bad in a way you can’t trust the unknown.”
Read it if you’ve been through a divorce or going through one. It’s going to inspire you to pay attention to yourself first, give you perspective and set your priority list in order.
There are all kinds of reasons people get divorced: they grow apart, there is abuse, they were never in love in the first place, they want different things… But when two people get divorced because one of them let a third person into the marriage, the person who was left behind faces years of psychological warfare they launch against themselves. Your person didn’t love you enough. Do you know how devastating that is? To realize you weren’t loved enough.
4.5 stars for karma – the cool bitch
Tarryn Fisher has written a dynamic narrative capturing the indecisiveness of a woman who is emotionally lost. Billie perceives herself to be a failure when it comes to relationships. She was left by her husband, she only has one close friend, and she gets a sense of indifference when it comes to her parents. Her behavior has become erratic, she drinks too much, and she can’t even decide on what name she wants to be called anymore. There is only one place she truly feels at home but she can’t seem to make herself choose that path. While the book has a few odd twists and turns, some of which lack beneficial contribution toward the main plot, the overall thesis is strong and outweighs those idiosyncrasies. Fisher’s writing is strong and the addition of her witty, sarcastic undertone is an excellent tension breaker in some of the heavier scenes. 4 stars.
This book wrecked me! And I love books that can do that as I read them! I was sucked into Billie and Satcher’s story and cried and raged and felt utterly exhausted after so many twists and turns. I felt that they were never going to be able to get their timing right and make it work! Thank f*ck I was wrong!
@Tarryn Fisher can write a damn love story. This book gives you all the emotions and feelings that go along with love. You hurt, you’re angry, you’re sad, you’re excited… you’re disappointed and you’re relieved. So much raw emotion and honest dedication brought this story to life and I thoroughly enjoyed it. #f*uckmarriage #tarrynfisher #reading #novel #katyapproved #bookgram
Meet Billie a woman scorned by a cheating husband. After the divorce she hightailed back to her hometown Seattle, Washington to heal her broken heart. After two years she was still pining for the love of her life. She was back in New York with a new look, a new name, and a new perspective.
While Billie was planning her revenge plan Satcher was helping her move on. He gave her a job back at her blog, comforted her as a friend, and had her back when Pearl became enemy number 1.
Meet Satcher he’s Woods best friend or was his best friend. After he cheated on Billie he sided with her. Although, they never stayed in contact during her two year absence Satcher fit perfectly back in her life upon her return.
Meet Woods the ex-husband who cheated on Reese with co-worker Pearl. Reese and Woods were together eight years and married three of them.
Woods and Billie owned and operated there own lifestyle blog company called Rhubarb. Billie’s passion had always been about the blog it’s where she put all her effort. Unfortunately, her marriage took a backseat to the time and energy she dedicated to Rhubarb.
Narrators:
Meg Sylvan is the female voice over actress who performed Billie’s scenes. She is a romance narrator. I couldn’t imagine anyone else performing the voice of Billie. I was captivated from beginning to end.
Connor Crais is the male romance narrator for Satcher’s character.
This was a dual performance unabridged audiobook. I listened using the Chirp app. Chirp offers a great quality listening app.
With every book Tarryn Fisher writes there’s a lesson to be learned. The lesson for Billie is finding yourself after divorce. Tarryn is a great woman advocate. She offers great insight into the emotions and feelings from both a female and male perspective. This book reads as the best forum for offering advice to her followers.
Apparently I wasn’t in the right headspace when I first read this book in 2019. Well I’m back in 2021, a few years later, revisiting this book with an audiobook companion. It must be the narrators performances because I’m in it for the win this time. I see it for what it is this time. I’m glad I gave this book a second chance.
Audiobooks have spoiled me as a reader. I seem to venture more into buying both the audiobook and ebook because my experience is better received when I have a voice to connect with.
I wasn’t sure if I would be interested in this book because I didn’t connect to Fuck love at all however after reading the blurb I was intrigued by Billie. Luckily both are standalone and you do not need to read Fuck Love first. I liked everything about this story, well except for Woods. I felt he was selfish and a coward. Billie deserved so much better, Satcher on the other hand swoon. He’s much better for her. I loved the ups and down and twist and turns. An absolute great read.
I read this in Kindle Unlimited because I liked the cover and the blurb sounded very interesting. Tarry Fisher, I will be looking for more of your books. This story was goooodd!!!!
Billie thought she was nothing but a failure when her husband asked for a divorce, so she did what some people would do in that situation: move away, lose weight, stop communicating with people.
She takes it a step further and decides to return to her former home. This is where the story now really heats up. Does she want revenge or will she find love? Does she really know who she is now or does she still need to really discover herself?
The characters are interesting, the plot has some twists that make it a really good read.
Wow. There is so much hurt and healing in this book. Billie, Woods, Pearl Jules and Satcher.
The hurt they inflicted on themselves and each other when on purpose or not, cuts deep. I hurt reading it. I also wanted to yell and scream at times not to make the same mistakes, not to hold back.
I fell pretty hard for Satcher. Gah, he’s a great friend and partner and so very clearly in love with a woman who is truly lost. Heartbreaking.
The healing and forgiveness and acceptance was beautiful and fulfilling.
I truly enjoyed my first Tarryn Fisher novel.
Well I couldn’t put it down!!! It grabbed my at the first page and I couldn’t put it down till the last!!!
WHOA!!!! This book pulled EVERY damn emotion I have, while reading it?!? I follow Colleen Hoover on Instagram and she recommended it, so I MUST read it, right??? I am so happy that I did and discovered another favorite author! The writing was so well done that I just couldn’t put the book down!
I felt Billie’s high’s & low’s of being in love, marriage, and divorce. Her need to understand the “why” was just so eloquently described by the author that I felt an almost instant connection with her character. I promise, you will love or love-to-hate some characters because we probably have met a few of them during our lives, right?
I think every newlywed should read this! Not to deter from marriage, but to give a perspective on “love” & marriage. I can’t write enough GREAT stuff about this book—just read it—like RIGHT NOW!!!
